Nothing outstanding. We had the Tig Ole Nachos and a Skiganator Burger. The nachos had way too much lettuce on top. So much, we thought it was a salad at first. The burger was pretty good. That's coming from someone who hasn't had Pimento cheese before. Finished the meal with a Blueberry Peach Sonker. Since it was my first Sonker, I guess it was good. Great little place tucked away in downtown, Pilot Mountain. Our drinks came quickly as did the food. They were somewhat crowded at noon so going during off hours would probably be best if you're not a fan of too much "coziness". Chicken fingers and chips were great. Club sandwich had a ton of meat, and the fresh fruit was really fresh. Hawaiian chicken sandwich good. We were in Pilot today around lunchtime and decided to get lunch at The Tilted Ladder. We've been here a couple of times in the past and enjoyed the food. Unfortunately there are very few good restaurants, in my opinion, in the area but this is one of the good ones. Our waitress, Heather, was super. She made good suggestions and followed up to ensure that we were happy with the food. The burgers are definitely the best around and I highly recommend them. The inside of the restaurant is interesting and there's 10 TV screens around the wall and at the bar area. Since they are closed captioned it's not annoying to the customers who are not interested in watching the screens. Although they were busy today service and food was great. read more

My mom and I had plans for lunch but my work got in the way a little. So she rode along with me to Pilot Mountain to finish my work and then have lunch. Yelp lead us to The Tilted Ladder and I'm so happy we went! We were seated right away by a friendly server. Everything on the menu sounded delicious but the tilted chicken sounded just amazing so we both ordered versions of it. I got mine with hot honey and my mom got hers with gravy. It came on a bed of mashed potatoes that were so creamy and perfectly seasoned. We each got a side too. I got a salad and my mom some broccoli. I don't get up to Pilot Mountain much but I need to make another trip because just thinking about that chicken is making me want it again. The restaurant also has a full bar, a bunch of TV's and so many other menu items that anyone can find what they want there. The casual atmosphere makes it a fun and comfortable place to go have lunch or dinner. read more

We came here in search of sonker, but wanted to try the regular menu offerings as well. I was not overly impressed with my entree, the tilted chicken and the kitchen forgot the onion straws which is kind of a key dimension of the dish. Otherwise, it was cold mashed potatoes with an average chicken breast and very nice white gravy. I was feeling pretty meh towards the experience until the sonker came out- and wow is it good. It's only the second sonker of the numerous on the surry sonker trail we have tried but so far, it's ranked number one by far. Definitely different from a cobbler. read more

The staff is incredibly friendly. They have such a warm and inviting atmosphere, full of local pride. I decided to try their margherita flatbread, and although it had more of a pesto pizza vibe, it was still absolutely delicious. To start off our meal, we couldn't resist ordering three appetizers for just $14.99. We went with the onion petals, the chicken quesadilla, and the hot chips, and let me tell you, they were the highlight of the entire dining experience. The chicken quesadilla, in particular, was bursting with flavor and pure deliciousness. Driving home to pa from Carolina beach and we were all starving. My husband suggested this place. It's in a small town and I was definitely hesitant. The inside is kind of basic no frills. Booths and tables. TVs on the wall and bar in the back that has a female bartender with a shaved head and tattoos on her head. Ordered the three pick appetizer. The cheesesticks were phenomenal. Homemade chips good. And onion petals tiny but good. I got the cardinal burger. It was not cooked the way I wanted (overcooked) BUT it was still amazing. The chili was super hearty and homemade tasting. SALAD DINNER (Cesar and chicken) WERE AMAZING according to my spouse. Kids got Philly and grilled cheese. They liked it. Portions were good. Second time at the Tilted Ladder and I am walking away with about the same impression as before, which is a good thing. First of all, for lunch on a Wednesday there was plenty of space for customers, but they were semi-busy. Pilot Mountain is a small town, and the signage and street parking leave a little to be desired, but I am telling you that it's worth stopping in. I had a Chicken Bacon Club and onion rings. I love onion rings, and these were pretty good. Good texture and flavor, which is not entirely common. The sandwich was pretty good too. The person I came in with had a buffalo chicken ranch sandwich (maybe also called the hot kick) and buffalo chips. The sandwich was juicy and spicy, just like you would hope for. We asked about what the difference would be between buffalo chips and hot chips. Hot chips are just in house made sliced chips. Buffalo chips are thicker cut (like ridged pickle chips) and are dusted with a buffalo seasoning. The flavor is pretty good, and they're not very spicy. Angie, who is infinitely available to her tables, was our server. She is on the ball! Overall, the food is good, the service is great, and it's different than the other places in Pilot Mountain. Came to tilted ladder to check out the sonker offering. We also got hot chicken and a burger, both of which were pretty solid offerings. I liked that we could pick both sauces on side for the chicken, but the mashed potatoes were sadly cold and they had initially forgot the onion straws. What pushes this place up in rating is the sonker. This is the second one I've tried on the trail, and it is far superior to the previous offering at the general store. It's worth the stop at least once, and the rest of the meal wasn't bad either! read more

I had the sirloin steak. It was cooked to specifications and seasoned well. It was a busy Sunday crowd, so the servers were busy, but it wasn't a negative experience. The resturant is located in downtown Pilot Mountain and is decorated with country charm. They also have outdoor dining and bar seating if the mood suits you. We came by while visiting the area. We ordered water and tea to start along with 8 bone in Thai chili wings and celery. The wings were good but very small. . For dinner we ordered Sautéed shrimp and Buffalo chips and ranch along with a Choo Choo classic burger. Our food was good but thought the portions were small, especially the side dishes. It was an average dinner. With all the reviews about Sonker we had to take one with us for later. It was like a cobbler but no exactly, again we found it ok. Our server was in and out of the porch so we did not see her very much. They added up charge for celery with the wings and ranch for the buffalo chips which I found to be unusual. First off, our server was not only stunning, but she was very nice and attentive. We did the trio appetizer, which was cheese sticks, pretzel, and loaded fries. It was very delicious! We thought it was three totally separate appetizers but it was neat how they did it in one. I got the homemade horseradish sauce on the side for my pretzel and it was superb! Great sports bar with great food in an unexpected area. Located in downtown Pilot Mtn this is an easy stop after visiting Hanging Rock, Pilot Mtn, or Mt Airy and an easy drive from the Triad. We were pleasantly surprised with the whole downtown area with several great shops, ice cream places, desert places, coffee, and this winner! We decided to divide and conquer the menu to get as many tastes as possible and that paid off! I never would have expected a Nashville Chicken Flatbread to be good, but whoa! It was great. The burger I did expect to be great and it was on point. Perfect burger/bacon/pimento combo with a nice charred flavor. The fries and onion were also excellent. We had no chance at finishing an appetizer and two entrees...and we have plenty of leftovers to show for it. The service was also excellent and the patio was super dog friendly. They brought out water for our dogs and welcomed them in. There was a Panthers game on outside and a great vibe overall. We sat outside. they had been busy earlier and were still cleaning up but they got us a table and promptly served us. They have a good craft brew selection and the usuals. Ate here for the first time and we were impressed by the service and the place has a good ambiance. The food was decent and we really liked the "fried mozzarella" (i.e. mozzarella cheese sticks).
