Mount Airy has a real gem here! I loved Zito! back when it was in a small shopping center off Healy drive in Winston-Salem, now they have this gorgeous new location right on the main drag in the land of Andy Griffith... but rather instead of being transported to Mayberry, you walk inside and are taken to Kefalonia instead! Truly, all the touches inside are perfect. You would never guess this was a greasy spoon diner before, from the placemats to the ceiling tiles and signs in Greek with English translations, it's just excellent and gives a premium feel. This would all be in vain if the food wasn't any good, but no surprise, it's delicious! I started off with an order of dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) and they were certainly the best version I've had lately. Served with a bit of hummus, tomatoes, and of course marinated in olive oil. Wonderful texture, very refreshing, and 8 to an order. I had a strong craving for pastitsio, and that order came with a very fresh greek salad and a couple of fingerling potatoes with a delightful vinegary tang to them. The salad had fresh from the block feta with a wonderful texture, and an excellent dressing. For the pastitsio, it's all about the bechamel layer on top, and this one was fluffy, creamy, and not overpowering. Balanced well with the pasta, and meat sauce. It was an excellent version. I finished things off with a slice or tasty tiramisu for desert, and did my best to stay awake for the drive home. I would absolutely return here!

Awesome little place to eat lunch located in Mount Airy, NC. Nestled in a small corner of the highway, this place is a hidden gem and would be easy to miss. The service was a little slow but there appeared to be only 1 server on staff during lunch. Ordered the gyro with fries. Food was hot and the atmosphere was relaxed. Anyone who loves Greek food would definitely want to give this place a try. They won't disappoint!

This place surprised us. Four of us went in about a half an hour before closing and the service wasn't the best. The food made up for it. They make their own pita bread. My wife had a falafel pita, and it was full of good stuff. The falafel patties were HUGE and cooked perfectly. Our friends had the gyro pita and shared a Greek salad which they said was delicious. Everyone loved the house made pitas. I had the Zito Salad and really enjoyed it. Healthy ingredients and extremely generous portion. I would highly recommend.

Great food option for Mt. Airy! Chicken pita was amazing. Fries were good too. Restaurant looked nice inside. Service was pleasant and informative. They were too quick to give the check. They could have sold me on dessert.

Zito in Mount Airy - A Fresh Take on Greek Cuisine Today I had the distinct pleasure of trying Zito Greek Kitchen in Mount Airy, and let me tell you -- this place is a hidden gem for anyone who loves good food and a touch of Greece. First off, I tried Greek coffee for the first time. As an avid coffee drinker, I'm pretty particular about my brew, and Zito Greek coffee was definitely a unique experience. It had a rich, bold flavor that was on the strong side -- if you don't do strong coffee, you might want to sip it slowly, but for me, it was worth the try. We started with an appetizer -- grilled halloumi cheese served with tzatziki and pita -- and it was an absolute hit at the table. The cheese was delicious, which is saying something because, as you might guess, I'm a sucker for good cheese. (In fact, I'd say it's one of my favorite foods -- so this was right up my alley. Lol.) The grilled halloumi had just the right amount of crispiness, and the tzatziki was cool, creamy, and perfectly seasoned. For my main, I ordered a traditional gyro, and it did not disappoint. The meat was so tender it practically melted in my mouth, and the pita bread was just the right amount of fluffy and fresh. The homemade tzatziki sauce stole the show -- I could have dipped everything in it. We visited during the restaurant's soft opening phase, but I was told their grand opening is scheduled for Father's Day weekend. So, if you're looking to check them out, now's a great time -- and definitely arrive early, as it filled up quickly. Our server, Gretchen, was fantastic -- attentive, friendly, and professional, making sure everything was just right. The atmosphere was open and bright, with some charming family pictures adorning the walls, making it feel warm and welcoming. And of course, because I probably didn't need it (but I couldn't resist), I ordered baklava for dessert. It was so good -- sweet, flaky, and just the right amount of sticky -- I swear it should be illegal. All in all, Zito is a fantastic new spot for Greek food in Mount Airy. Whether you're a seasoned Greek cuisine lover or just curious about trying something new, this place is worth a visit. I'll definitely be coming back -- especially once they're fully open!

    Chicken souvlaki

First time there and we were not disappointed. We ordered the fried zucchini as an appetizer. We both ordered the chicken souvlaki and it was delicious and our plates had plenty on them. I ended up bringing some home. We shared the baklava cheesecake. We will definitely return!

    Chicken Souvlaki Plate

My husband and I visited on New Year's Day. We ordered the Sampler, Chicken Souvlaki Plate, and Baklava Cheesecake for dessert. The food was fantastic and the service was as well! We also purchased olive oil and Parmesan Rosemary sourdough bread...delicious! We will definitely become regulars.

Food was good but took 45 minutes to get our food. Waitress was great. My chicken souvlaki was a bit dry/overcooked but had good flavor.

But don't let any of that keep you from stopping at Dino's if you're looking for a good, home-cooked style breakfast. We don't recommend the iced tea, which may have been instant (a no-no in the South), but the scrambled eggs, hash browns, and bacon were delicious, as were the bacon skillet and the Denver omelette. I'm always wary of restaurant bacon, but this was some of the best I've ever eaten. Crispy, cooked perfectly--the best part of my meal. My spouse went to the restroom, where he couldn't find a light switch and had to take his chances using it with the door ajar, so take a flashlight if you need to use the facilities. Overall, the ramshackle building is not appealing but what's most important is the food, and we were pleased with ours. Will go back to try dinner sometime.

The meat is cut in thin, rectangular slices, indicating it is minced and molded into a rectangular shaped loaf and then cooked - it is definitely not shaved from a spit to order! This is much like that served at Mad Greek Grill in Kernersville and High Point. The pita was well filled, the vegetables were fresh, but the Gyro is about the meat and in several ways, the meat here simply didn't cut it. The taziki was very nice, in fact it was the best part of the item. Pretty sure this was my last visit.
