If I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. The RailYard is hands down one of the best restaurants I've ever been to, and it's right here in Bluefield. From the food to the drinks to the service, every single detail is outstanding. On my first visit, I tried the fried green tomatoes, the famous chicken & waffle nachos, and the Bleu Monday burger with sweet potato fries each dish was so good that I found myself planning my return before I even left. Sure enough, the next day I was back and had the ridiculously delicious smoked Gouda shrimp mac, maple bacon Brussels sprouts, fire-roasted tomato soup with grilled cheese, and the chimmied fries. Absolutely phenomenal. The fried green tomatoes have officially become my standard nobody else compares now. The Samurai Jack salad so fresh, flavorful, and unforgettable. The drinks deserve their own spotlight. The Breakfast Club with a Sidecar is a must try, and the Basilto All Flavors series (strawberry, blackberry, blueberry) is out of this world, blueberry was my personal favorite. Creative, refreshing, and perfectly crafted. The RailYard is the kind of place that makes you excited to come back again and again. The vibe is cool, the staff/manager Brad is friendly and attentive, and the food is truly next level. Whether you're a student at Bluefield State or just passing through town, this place is an absolute must. The RailYard sets the bar high for food, drinks, and atmosphere in West Virginia. Great local place, don't read a book by its cover, inside is much nicer than you would think based on the outside. Set in an old bank building, features a full bar with ~30 beers on tap including many local selections and IPAs as well as half a dozen wine choices. That said,The Railyard is more of a restaurant than a bar. The food and service from the staff are definitely the star of the show. Davey (ask him about his previous career as a guitarist for a metal band) and his team did a great job taking care of us. Menu offers a wide selection of burgers, wraps, and salads (including vegan selections). Also try the Devil Arse dip with chips and or crostini (toasted bread). I'll be honest, we had our reservations when we drove off the highway to have dinner while traveling through West Virginia. The town has lost wealth and population since its boom from the 1920s-1960s (read the Wikipedia entry - fascinating!) and its downtown is pretty run down. However, The RailYard is 100% worth the slight detour. The beer selection is extensive, the staff genuine and warm, and the food - fantastic! The menu is creative and executed flawlessly (my salmon was cooked perfectly). It's the kind of place I would expect to find in a city's trendy neighborhood. Between the interesting menu with a great selection of appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, and sandwiches, and the great food, we will regularly make this detour on our way through West Virginia. read more

The appetizers quick to table I suggest the fried green tomatoes topped with pimento cheese!! Burgers are delicious with many ways to create a burger. Service. Fast wait staff are so friendly. The railyard is amazing and a must visit. The location is great in downtown bluefield and even though the place is a tad small, they use every inch well. The service was amazing as well, from our host, to the waitress, and the gentleman that brought out our food. 10/10. I got the widowmaker with gouda, some kind of rib, and arugula on some toasted pieces of white bread and it was delicious. Only thing bad about it was it wouldn't stay together, but i can definitely work with that. I got the 5$ milkshake with sprinkles for dessert and it was amazing. Didn't hurt the stomach and was amazing top to bottom. Will definitely be back. read more

We stopped in here for supper and enjoyed it immensely. It's a busy place. A customer waiting in line ahead of us said the hamburgers are "the best". We both hit the French Onion soup. I had a hamburger and he got a Philly Steak sandwich - and a peach milkshake to go. It was all delicious. I failed to take a photo until the sandwiches were almost gone. The lighting is on the dark side but I'll post the photo anyhow. My only complaint is how loud the music is. It's hard to have a conversation. read more

Hopping little place! So the good, the bad .....First sat down at a table and waited for about 10 minutes and moved to the bar. No one ever came to wait on us. Bartender was busy and took quite a while to take our order. Food also took a while. The good. We got wings and they were really good! Definitely would try again or at least get take out. read more

We had a decent sized group and stopped in for some lunch! The food was delicious. I had the cowboy burger and fries and it was absolutely delicious! Several of my friends had appetizers for their lunch and I don't think anyone was disappointed! Chicken and waffles Was a hit and we shared bites of everyone's food. I imagine they can get fairly busy but at the time we were there it was bad and service wasn't terrible but could have been a little faster with the amount of patrons there at the time !! The service was very slow. We ordered our drinks and my wife and her sister got their sodas immediately. I ordered a beer and a shot and it took at least 20 minutes to get them. We all ordered burgers and it took around 40 minutes to get our food. The burgers were delicious but my wife's sweet potato fries were lukewarm. It was very busy so it seems to me that they needed more staffing. We wanted to get some shakes but could tell it was going to take awhile and passed. We love eating here. But "maple flavored" syrup is not the same as maple syrup. When customers ask if it's pure maple syrup, tell them "no" from now on. The RailYard burger is amazing by the way. I come here every time I am in Bluefield. Great food. I love their Cubano! I don't know why their tots are sooo good but they are. Great selection of craft beers. Great cocktail bar. Oh this food was fantastic! I ordered the fried green tomato sandwich and loved it. My issues with it were that there were only 2 total (pretty small) tomatoes on the whole sandwich and it really just wasn't enough. The bun was also so saturated in butter or oil it was like dripping off my sandwich. Otherwise really great though. It also took a long time to get served. But the general feel to the place was laid back and seemed fun. Seems like a good idea to get there early as it was packed by the time we left! read more
