This was a very fun and relaxing place to grab some cold brews and sausages. They have indoor and outdoor seating available. Seemed like a local favorite. They offer a nice variety of brats, hot dogs etc served on a tasty pretzel bun. The brat I ordered had a great flavor and came with a bag of chips and a side of kraut. Their draft beer selection was extensive. I settled on a sour and it did not disappoint. The prices are moderate. Definitely worth a stop during warm weather to relax for the evening. read more

Great beer selection, fun atmosphere, okay food: We stumbled on the BG by accident while strolling around Lewisburg. Since it was lunchtime we thought we'd give it a try. There is a lot of outside seating and the outside wall rolls up to bring the outdoors inside. The beer selection was excellent with 15 taps offering a wide selection of styles (not just the usual dozen IPAs). The food selection is limited and none too healthy, but it's a pub, you know. The service was efficient, if not too friendly, but we weren't there to make friends. This place would be perfect for after-work beers and snacks on a nice fall afternoon. read more

Had a delicious meal at Briergarten. They have a bunch of different beers on tap, as well as many canned options, mixed drinks, etc. They also give samples, which I very much appreciated. I ended up choosing a local Pilsner, which was very tasty. My wife and daughter chose a local cider, which was good, but at $14, was a bit pricey. All of the food we got was spot on. We started with the braided pretzel with beer cheese - fresh and delicious. I ordered the bratwurst sandwich, which was close to perfection. The pretzel bun was moist, and the mustard, which I can generally take or leave, was extremely flavorful. My wife and daughter split the Chicago dog. Except for the pretzel bun (in their opinion, a very acceptable substitution), it was true to form. They really enjoyed it. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere rounded out a very satisfying evening. read more

Very nice place. Good selection of beer, wine, spirits. Long list of local beers. A few very good imports on draft. The curry wurst and Cuban on pretzel bread were excellent. Particularly with the German import weisbier. Reminded us of when we lived there. Sitting with the door up on a warm afternoon was fun. Several customers were relaxing and enjoying conversations, food, and drink. That's what it's all about. Servers are friendly. Poor service can kill a restaurant. This place is top notch. They think of me right away and bring me a bowl of water. I tried to explain I'd rather a nice IPA or wheat beer, but I think they only serve those in glasses, not your typical bowl. It's great because my two legged pets like to sit outside, and there is plenty of space for them, and I can lay on the nice color warm concrete. One of my pets loves the Currywurst, but he doesn't share. Humans are like that, you put food in front of them and they get possessive. It's okay, I enjoy walking them. I had been meaning to visit Briergarten since they opened, so I was glad to get the opportunity at the end of May 2023. I'm also happy that son is of age, so I can take him with. We stopped in on a beautiful day, perfect for having the big roll-up doors open. I ordered the #freeBratney gluten-free plate with a pineapple cider. Son ordered a currywurst and iced tea. Mine came with a small chopped salad, heavy on the roughage, tossed in a vinaigrette. It was tasty, but for post-bariatric people, be aware it was a little tough on my re-plumbed guts. Son liked it and finished it, which is a testament because he's not normally a fan of anything with "too much" vinegar. Highly recommend. The stupid UI just asked me for the third time if I recommend and I accidentally clicked 'no' so take that with a grain of salt! read more

Visiting Lewisburg and stopped Into Briergarten since it was one of the few places open for drinks/dinner on a Sunday night. So glad we did! The hanging flower baskets on the porch looked inviting, and once inside the staff was so friendly. Nick the bartender was great, giving us drink and food recommendations and filling us in on some WV history about behind pepperoni rolls (Very tasty). Was clearly The Place to Be in town on a Friday night, but when we went back a second time the next night, it was more low key. We were in town for a multi-day bike ride and stopped here for a beer and a bite to eat. There is a nice selection of beers and although the menu is small, everything was done well. If I could leave 0 stars I would. Not only was my cider subpar and more expensive than other places in town, but the food was overpriced and the service was abhorrent. No one came to take our order after giving us menus so after 10 minutes we went to bar where no one even made eye contact or acknowledged us for another 5 minutes. I went back inside to ask for water for us and our dog and again was ignored at the bar. I finally interrupted the person making drinks (strawberry margaritas from a mix i could buy at the store) to ask if they had water bowls for dogs. The server looked thoroughly irritated and said they could get something for me and I thanked them and walked away. Ten more minutes pass and no sign of anyone. We finished our drinks, still no water, so we went in to pay and leave. Another 5 minutes waiting at the bar. I saw the server sitting chatting with her friends but when someone came up to buy a t-shirt she hopped right up to help him first. Am I invisible!? I left exactly $0 tip after the worst service I've ever had and still felt it was too generous. We will never return. read more
