Dirty Martini..FABULOUS..the bartender understood the assignment. Place was not busy(early eve)..but our waitress was hustling! This NEVER happens...my hubby and I ordered the same thing...Philly cheesesteak.. served with warm bun, excellent flavor...fries were a hit.... definitely would come back this way to try their burger!

First time coming and the vibe when you want in is your basic bar eatery. Our waitress was perfect um and their food was delicious. We got the fried pickles but didn't get a pic haha my sandwich was pretty good although I asked for no bacon or ham annnnnd I feel they are like most lazy people who just remove the meat from the meat from the sand which and think it's ok. I found bacon in between the Turkey & bread and thought I tasted bacon/ham also. For that I'm taking off a star. Otherwise, delicious!

Visiting and staying in Lewisburg- leaving Soon but wow wow wow! Took a chance at this dive and tempting to drive from NY to WV just for the burger Btw if you ask for ice cream yes that's the smallest and super good!!!

Please note the pre-programmed line for "kitchen messed up" . Obviously a common occurance.

The third time is the charm! very happy to report that after seeing several positive January 2024 reviews online, we gave the Asylum a third try. Glad we did because the old Asylum is back. Whatever issues they had in the kitchen have been ironed out and corrected. The burger my husband ordered was cooked correctly to a medium rare. The wings I ordered were delicious and the side salad was fresh and appealing. The chocolate mousse my husband ordered was apparently to die for. The service was great as it always has been. We will definitely be back.

One of the few places that was open on Sunday. Small place off Main Street in Lewisburg. Walking in, there is a cool vintage vibe with old school bar and sofas along with booths and tables. Our server was prompt, quickly brought our drinks and had good recommendations on food. I ordered the Smokehouse burger, it had bacon, bbq sauce and fried onions. It was supposed to have pulled pork but they were out. The burger was cooked to my liking, juicy and flavorful. The bun was soft and held everything together well. Beer battered fries accompanied, they were crisp and hot, overall a solid place especially if you are looking for something other than a chain restaurant on Sunday.

Hot honey peach bourbon smash (I can't remember the actual name but it was so good!)

Great food and friendly service! I got the Asylum Sliders and we split Asylum fries (loaded with bacon), my husband built his own burger. Everything was delicious! I got a hot honey frozen peach smash that was to die for! This place was a great find!

Fantastic customer service again while visiting Asylum. Whitney and Destiny greeted our party of three with genuine and friendly attitudes. The place was busy for a Monday lunch because it's Spring Break and several customers were entire families. However, there was plenty of parking and space in the dining room and bar counter areas. The food was delicious and large proportions for hungry eaters. We did order fried calamari which was overcooked for one member of our party however the staff made sure we weren't charged for it and generously offered a replacement meal for there or To Go to make sure we were satisfied. I LOVED AND APPRECIATED THAT! Keep up the amazing job Asylum staff and kudos to Whitney & Destiny who made sure we were well served and comfortable during our cozy dining experience.

I was in Lewisburg on business and it was suggested to our group that we visit The Asylum. Glad we did. The atmosphere and food was excellent and the waitress, Natalie, was wonderful and took great care of us! They also have a bar setup in the basement and on the rooftop for private parties. I strongly recommend The Asylum!

I ordered a turkey wrap and sweet potato fries. The next time I think I'll order regular fries (I ended up eating my daughter's fries instead). The service was good and very accommodating for my daughter and I. Highly recommend this place for lunchtime. I also noticed their bar and it looked well stocked with a big variety of drinks.

The chicken was undercooked and pink!

I waited over an hour for a med-rare steak, broccoli, and mac & cheese, my girlfriend ordered a Southwestern salad. The grilled chicken in the salad was a perfect med-rare. There was also no dressing that the salad was supposed to come with and they were out of corn. This place has a lot of potential. It's a shame to see it fail. This review was also posted to The Asylum's FB page. What follows is the posts made by The Asylum. "We are short staffed and are doing our best.. we had 10 applications come through for cooks this week and not 1 has shown up for an interview...our front of house are suffering. The fact we are still open is a miracle. I'm sorry you had a bad experience but we are aren't having fun trying to keep this place open. Have you been anywhere outside of WV lately??? I have... hiring signs from the Caribbean to Canada. I have options. Pay my staff $20 an hour and You won't ever come in for $20 burger and fries or try to survive." "It's easy judge when you are a patron"

Our group had been studying the menu prior to our arrival. We enjoyed nearly every cocktail on the menu along with one of their "special shots in an animal head shot glass". There was a little "show" with almost every drink. Even though we had already eaten, we couldn't resist sampling a few snacks. Each snack was unique. The baked potato skins had a spinach artichoke topping and the dumplings had a cayenne dust. The mini pizza was just ok. The service was the highlight of our experience. Our server was always there to make sure we had everything we needed. We hope to visit again when we are in town.

I wanted to share feedback regarding our recent dining experience to celebrate my son's graduation…read morewith family and friends as it was unfortunately very disappointing -- especially considering the price point and expectations presented for your restaurant and event reservations. First, the menu was extremely limited for both food and drinks. While the cocktails were enjoyable, the food quality and portions did not come close to justifying the $300+ we spent. We ordered the shrimp and wagyu skewers expecting thoughtfully prepared dishes. Instead, the shrimp appeared comparable to pre-made shrimp cocktail shrimp placed on a stick rather than freshly grilled seafood. The wagyu skewer lacked the quality and presentation expected from a fine dining establishment and honestly tasted more like beef stroganoff without noodles. I also ordered the lobster bisque, which was served lukewarm and tasted as though it came from a can. The Caesar salad with smoked trout was acceptable, but the trout resembled salmon more than smoked trout, and the dressing tasted bottled rather than house-made. What made the experience more frustrating was the lack of transparency regarding the menu prior to the event reservation. For a restaurant that strictly enforces reservations and cancellation fees, customers reasonably expect a much higher level of quality, preparation, and overall dining experience. Our server was kind, attentive, and did their best throughout the evening, so I truly appreciate their effort. However, much of the remaining staff appeared stressed, overwhelmed, and unwelcoming, which added to the uncomfortable atmosphere. Overall, the experience felt far from the fine dining experience being advertised. The drinks were honestly the only standout part of the evening. I also have to mention that the food we received looked nothing like the photos posted online and in Google reviews. It genuinely made us wonder if there was an issue in the kitchen this evening, because the quality and execution were nowhere near what was being represented publicly. I sincerely hope this feedback is taken constructively because there is a significant disconnect between the pricing, expectations, and actual dining experience being delivered.

After having been selected as number 4 of Yelp's Top 50 most prolific Elites of 2025, a year when I also was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Photographer of the Year Award at their Yelpies 2025 Award Ceremony, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, and where last year I was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Yelper of the Year Award, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And Stellina, in Downtown Roanoke, is a perfect example. Stellina (which means "Little Star" in Italian) is a secretly hidden little bar within the very popular Italian Restaurant Fortunato, but with its own entrance through a door on the right of the restaurant. Its only indication of its name is a small letter board behind one of its front windows, stating its name and hours of operation. This bar was constructed with reclaimed wood from the Old Crow distillery and opened in December of 2016. Since then its gain a reputation as the ideal spot for hand-crafted cocktails in a cozy and intimate atmosphere. It seats only about 20 people, with 7 at the bar. Not that long ago it gained recognition by being featured in the New York Post as one of the world's best small bars. All that I can tell you about this place doesn't do justice to the experience of visiting the place for the very first time. After stepping inside, I was mesmerized by the simple yet effective, elegance of the establishment, complimented by the beautifully dressed young lady, server/bartender. Her elegant style and mysterious personality contributed to the character and ambiance of this one-of-a-kind relaxing place. The very hospitable young lady welcomed me and handed me the drink menu, while asking me if I also planned to dine there. I answered in the affirmative and asked her if they had any Mocktails. To my surprise, she pointed out that one side of the Drinks Menu were all non-alcoholic drinks, including mocktails, bottled mocktails, wine by the glass, and beers. I ordered one of the mocktails and by the end of my meal, I think I must have tried a few. She then brought me Fortunato's menu, and I ordered the Fritto Misto as appetizer and the Pork Milanese as my main entrée. I enjoyed both course immensely. A lady employee brought me the food from Fortunato's Restaurant through a door that led to the restroom area of Fortunato's Restaurant, pass the kitchen. For dessert, that Which I consider the "Grand Finale" of a wonderful fine dining experience, I ordered their Tiramisu and Hot Chocolate. They were absolutely mouthwatering. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to return in the near future.

We had originally settled on Fortunato's, but upon arrival at 6pm, the pleasant hostess had informed us that there was not a table available until 8:30. While she was seeing if there was space at the bar, another young woman said, "There's a table at Stellina!" We already knew that Stellina shared the same menu, so we were pleased to walk over there. A young man greeted us and said, "Sit wherever you like!" But there was only one table available. It was a great table, positioned by a window that let us see a glimpse of the city. Cocktail menus were already on our tables, and the young man asked if we wanted food menus as well. We said yes, and ordered The Obituary, a gin drink, a vodka drink that I cannot remember the name of, the house bread, Lumache a Forno, and Bucatini all'Arrabiatta. While waiting for our food, I got to admire the space. It was a small space decorated with a beautiful purple-lit wallpaper, christmas lights, and a colorful overhead light. The room was dark, but our table was tastefully lit with a small lamp. The wallpaper looked as if it had some floral print on it, but upon closer inspection, it was actually a collection of people's faces, which was charming. But perhaps the most striking element of this bar's atmosphere was the music. I immediately heard a trippy beat that was familiar to me, and upon shazaming it, found out it was Interia Creeps, by Massive Attack, one of my favorite 90s trip-hop bands. The music continued to impress me, and has inspired to start a spotify playlist called Stellina's Songs. Some of the standouts include: Army of Me - Bjork Never Let Me Down - Depeche Mode Lovesong - The Cure It's No Good - Depeche Mode The ambience of this dark, 90s music paired perfectly with the dark yet pleasant atmosphere of the restaurant. Our drinks were cold, our food was hot, and it was all quite delicious. I got to try both dishes and both drinks, and was perfectly satisfied. The gentleman that greeted us checked on us frequently, as well as another woman. Overall, the experience was classy and pleasant. The restaurant seemed popular among an older crowd. Nevertheless, this is a great place for anyone of any age to grab a drink or a bite to eat while feeling like an elegant member of society. This is truly a gem that Roanoke has to offer, and my experience could not have been greater.

After having been selected as number 4 of Yelp's Top 50 most prolific Elites of 2025, a year when I was also awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Photographer of the Year Award at their Yelpies 2025 Award Ceremony, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, and where last year I was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Yelper of the Year Award, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and businesses, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And 1772 Rooftop on Main, a very unique restaurant and bar, located in the historic town of Fincastle, Virginia is a perfect example. From the moment I heard about this place I couldn't help stop thinking about going there one day and having a memorable dining experience. One like none other ever before. The owners of this restaurant had that rare creative imagination of coming up with the concept of a restaurant and bar located in a historic building with lots of character and charm. Starting from its quaint handcrafted bar and dining room located next to its semi-open kitchen on the first floor, to the rooftop open dining patio with stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the historic Fincastle Courthouse, originally designed by Thomas Jefferson. This together with the uniqueness of the rooftop patio having a bar made out of an old Beechcraft V Tail Bonanza plane that was purchased from Black Dog Salvage in Roanoke, Virginia. Once a fully functional aircraft is now the center of attention of the 1772 rooftop dining patio. After making a six o'clock reservation for a Friday evening to this family-owned restaurant and bar, I checked on my cellphone and driving on the alternative route of 220 it would only take me 31 minutes to get there from Roanoke, Virginia. I enjoyed the ride in my pearl white Lexus Luxury Edition listening to music on its powerful radio. When I arrived it didn't take long for me to find a huge parking lot conveniently located about a block away from the restaurant. Once inside, a friendly young lady greeted me at the Host's station and confirmed my reservation. I asked to be seated at the indoor dining room where I could see their kitchen and observe their operation, and then I would visit the rooftop on my way out. She leadi me pass an area of beautiful wooden shelves with item for sale, and through a hallway into the indoor dining room and bar, where she handed me the menu. It didn't take long for my server, another young lady, to welcome me, answer some questions about the menu, and take my order. The menu was not large but full of very desirable items that would want to make me return to try them all. I ordered a Pepsi to drink. A House Salad to start off with Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing. And an 8oz tender top cut Sirloin, their Baseball Sirloin as my main entrée. It was served with whipped potatoes and sautéed zucchini & squash. The salad was simply amazing. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and the quality of their food. The main entrée was also exquisite. They had a wonderful team of chefs who knew how to bring out the best in every dish they prepared. For dessert I had a slice of their Peanut Butter pie. It was delicious but brought frozen and thus hard to eat. I would suggest they do something to thaw the pie a little like they do in other restaurants for the customers to better enjoy the dessert dining experience. When finished eating, I paid with my credit card and went upstairs to the rooftop. It was wonderful. A full-house of customers enjoying a good time together, with good food and good drinks. All the servers were very friendly and welcoming, creating the ideal ambiance for an extraordinary dining experience and night out.

My friend and I decide to come to Lewisburg because I heard it was a cool place to have lunch. The lunch decision was between a Mexican restaurant across the street or at Food and Friends, and ultimately Food and Friends won out and we stepped into this restaurant, hoping to have a nice lunch together. It was just after 1 PM when we came into the restaurant and we sat almost immediately because there was a table available at. The entire experience took about an hour or so and it was enjoyable for sure. The restaurant itself was cute and unique. The menu was cute and the prices were decent. My friend decided to pick up the tab for both of us because I was visiting and that was nice. I started the meal with the French onion soup, which was a first for me. It was a good delicious appetizer for me that was awesome. It warmed the soul and my stomach. For the main course, I had this steak and shrimp salad dish, which was good and refreshing. It was nice because it wasn't too much carbs and it was nice to have steak for lunch at least once in my trip to West Virginia. The ambiance was nice and quiet. It was definitely a nice lunch spot on a quiet Wednesday November afternoon in Lewisburg. Food and Friends is a nice restaurant in the heart of Lewisburg. Check them out if you're in the area! I would wholeheartedly recommend coming here. They have a ton of great options to choose from and the service is great and friendly. I enjoyed myself with my friend for lunch. Hopefully you will too with your party. The overall experience here at Food and Friends - Lewisburg was very nice and pleasant. It was also a great choice to have lunch. The staff here was very accommodating and friendly. It was a typical experience that made me happy that it was a good choice. The restaurant itself was clean and cozy. It felt like a small converted house, with the main floor for customers. I felt that the French onion soup was the featured dish for me and the salad was the accompaniment to a wonderful day so far. Both dishes were freshly made and served with love. It was very refreshing and satisfying. Never needed dressing too, since the steak was prepared with enough spice and all of the things. Even the shrimps were sautéed and cooked to perfection. Just wanted something light and simple without having it to be heavy on the stomach and this steak and shrimp salad that Food & Friends made was amazing and out of this world. As far as the seating arrangements, we got to sit near the entrance, which was good. There was not much air conditioning since it was fairly cool conditions at the time for mid November. Comfortable chairs and furniture make it a little homespun while you dine here. It was a nice place to dine here and definitely a nice place to be. If you are a fan of local comfort food without the price bloat, consider coming here to Food & Friends restaurant in Lewisburg. It may be off the beaten path, but once you get here, you'll be glad you did. Trust yourself and treat yourself. You'll be well rewarded! If you're lucky to be here, you might find yourself dining in a hidden gem restaurant. Definitely recommend Food & Friends. Food & Friends restaurant is a cute boutique restaurant in the heart of Lewisburg, West Virginia. It's physically located at 878 Washington Street here in Lewisburg. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. As far parking goes, your best bet would be to find street parking wherever you can find it and walk on over to the restaurant. The town of Lewisburg is small enough to where parking can be found anywhere that's legal to park. Ideally, having a car of your own or renting one in a larger city is helpful to get to Lewisburg. I'm not sure if the town of Lewisburg has a public transportation system for anyone and everyone to use to get around. Then there is the topic of Uber or Lyft to get you here, but the drive is long anywhere from Lewisburg, in general. With that said, your best bet would be to get here with a friend or try to get a rental on your own. It'll be quite the expense to try to Uber here from Princeton, Bluefield, or Beckley. Or even from Charleston too. The food here is good and the company was great. I enjoyed myself here for lunch on a November 2025 outing here to Lewisburg. Hope you can make it out here.
