This was a great local stop at the tail end of a weeklong road trip. The patio outside was relaxing and inviting. Food was terrific (if you've had enough fried shrimp at the lake, the tex-mex burger is SOLID) with sincere, attentive service. Folks here are working their you-know-whats off to deliver, and they do with grace. Skip the chains by the interstate and let these folks do you right. read more

Sorry, no pics but 3 of the 4 of the us got Philly Cheesesteak which were excellent and we could only eat half of it. The 4th person got the burger which was cooked to perfection. Recommended stop or visit if you are nearby! read more

Great food, service, and incredible atmosphere with some great pool tables downstairs but it's just a tad expensive.

Today for lunch on our way to Wytheville we stopped in. Once again service was top notch. So friendly and helpful even suggesting can appetizer that was delicious. What a cute place this has turned into. read more

Kinda wanting to have a nice experience and that was what we had! Lunch was busy and I thought for sure the waitress would be overwhelmed, but she took care of everyone easily. Catfish BLT was my wife's choice and I had an eat cheese burger. Great! Very nice and everything was just amazing. read more

The food was good, the drinks were great. Service was excellent. The look was nostalgic. We had the crab cakes, my baked potato could have been cooked a little longer for my liking. We also had the steak salad which was refreshing. I had the rum drink and hubs had the moonshine. Would come back if in town. read more

Food and drinks are always good there. Would recommend for lunch or dinner. But call ahead if you plan to watch any sports there. We planned a group dinner to watch basketball during March Madness tournament. However, found out when we arrived that they didn't have cable and weren't able to show any men's college basketball games. read more

Nice diner like area and also nice outdoor seating. Place was packed and at the start only one server. She did her job well until reinforcements came. Burgers were great , fries also. Would recommend a stop right off the highway. read more

This place was a great little find. The food is good and everyone is very nice. Upstairs is quiet lunch/dinner place and the downstairs is louder with a large bar/pool tables. We've done both and they definitely have different vibes. read more

Service was great - friendly and inviting. It was my first time visiting and my server was quick to suggest the weekly special and shared the monthly drink specials with me as well. Everything on the menu looked amazing, but I ultimately settled on a crab dip burger with their seasoned fries. Everything was delicious! The fries were seasoned perfectly and cooked nice and crispy with a soft center. The burger was seasoned very well and the bun was fresh. I'm already considering going back very soon! read more

What a tasty, casual gem off of I-81!! I got the apple pie margarita & it was absolutely delightful! They nailed the drink. Absolutely delicious & refreshing. We had the fried pickles and they were good as well. I tried the crab dip cheeseburger, I really wish it had more dip on it but they cooked it really well. I also got a side of steamed squash which was a great side too. I also got to the try ribs my friend got, & they were a crowd pleaser for sure. We left stuffed without breaking the bank. read more

Very dry tasteless chicken sandwich for 14.00. No baked potatoes. Extremely slow service. Very loud inside.

Service was friendly. Food was served lukewarm. The restaurant building was very chilly. in my option just an ok place. If in the area again, I would not go there. read more

I had the mahi wrap with green beans as a side. Everything was good. Vibe-y spot for a weekend around the lake.

Stopped in after a day of traveling had a couple of drinks and that was it. Downstairs bar wasn't open yet but we had a good time talking with locals, service was spot on too. read more

I wish the Kennedy Haddock they had on special for St Patrick's was a permanent thing. 100% one of the best sandwiches I've had; I should have ordered 2 that day. Service was fast and friendly. read more

Hostess/server was amazing! We arrived on a Wednesday - slow for this day but overall a good vibe. We ordered special of the day - chicken piccata - one of the best we've had. Highly recommend this location! We're from out of town - if we lived here this would be a regular stop! read more

First bought food there twice for dinner and the burger was so over garlic it made my son sick. Secondly the bar area is gross and sticky every where. And unless the bartenders are friends with you or just really like you they love to cut you off from drinking even if you're not driving or causing trouble. They do lie on people to get them barred from there. I heard because you gave them a tip not large enough for their satisfaction. They let their regulars sit in the front of the bar which is out back and drink alcohol. My friends and I have seen the bartender outside knowing she seen regular customers drinking alcohol in their trucks or cars. This place doesn't offer anything good. You're better off to keep driving and find another place. read more

Very slow with a very simple order..40min. Fries were soggy and food was not as good as expected.

I had the Chesapeake burger which was a bacon cheddar burger with crab dip added. I subbed the side salad (which was a good portion) for the fries. Delicious and different. My friends got the crab cakes and the fish and chips and all agreed this was a nice pick for the evening. Not a fancy restaurant but clean and roomy with a friendly staff. We ate inside but there were some who ate on the patio on a very nice August evening. read more

Our trips up and down I-81 will never be the same! At least not as long as The Mason Jar is there. They had predictable lunch fare with a few flairs. Mostly, it was a clean, cheerful, nicely appointed place with friendly and efficient staff making for a pleasant lunch on the road. I had a ranch chicken sandwich and my wife had a BBQ pork sandwich, and both were tasty and well prepared. read more

Traveling from Kentucky to North Carolina. Googled restaurants close to us to eat a late lunch. The Mason Jar came up as our first option. Took a chance and was not disappointed. Nice neat place. Really enjoyed our dinner. Restaurant was not too loud, nice to hear each other without loud music. Our party had the fried shroom appetizer and loved it. Burger was great and the perfect size. Husband enjoyed his soup. Server was very friendly! Will return! read more

We picked a Friday night for our first visit. The wait was not too long. Staff was extremely friendly, especially our server Grace. We got fried pickles for our appetizer, some of the best I've ever had. My nephew is a picky eater and doesn't like pickles but I convinced him to try them and he loved them too. He loved his BBQ Burger & fries. I have been craving Chicken & waffles and was excited to see it on the menu. My husband tried the cheesesteak sandwich. He said the steak was thicker cut and a bit grisly & chewy. Flavor was just okay. The chicken and waffles were very tasty, but the chicken was over breaded and half of the breast seemed to end up being just breading. The atmosphere is okay, there was a huge table of about 20 in the center of the restaurant, so the noise level was pretty high. Nice job on the makeover of the interior. Overall decent meal, a bit on the expensive side. Will try again on a less busy night. read more

We've been here a few times and the food and service are always great. We've tried the burgers, Reuben, cheese steaks. Love the seasoning on the fries! It's nice to have a local restaurant. And the ice cream shop behind the restaurant is also amazing read more

The service was great and the food was also. Had their TexMex burger, which thankfully packed some heat as advertised. Fries are yummy and their ranch dressing was good too (my family judges restaurant based on their ranch dressing :-). ) the highlight for me however was this Mermaid Mule. Try it! read more

This place is local for us. It's nice to have a restaurant close by! Food varies most of the time. Drink menu needs some work still! We always have to wait for our food and often our meals are not prepared right. Staff is friendly and attentive. We will continue to try to support this local business. good food. good ambiance. waited thirty minutes for a to go order of pork fritters which I watched sit in the window for twenty minutes while they were workers standing around in the kitchen. read more

Im very disappointed with everything. I did order using DoorDash but the order was completely wrong and what was delivered was not good at all. We were missing a main item and when I called I was told that's not their problem that they ran out of it and they didn't bother contact me. In saying that I wasn't offered another dish or even a refund for what they didn't have. Also ordered Pork Fritters and the sauce it comes with had no lid so it had spilt onto the fritters. it ruined them. The burger was ok. read more
