This place is so cute and cozy but tends to full up in the weekends. Their menus have a lot to chose from and the customer service is amazing. My fiancé is a pancake critic and unfortunately they were a miss. I like a thinner more well done pancake where we received a thicker more soft one. That's just our preference. The eggs Benedict are always on point!!! Their croissants are also to die for! Coffee is good but I would like to see some nondairy creamer? It's hard to find a place that carries any. I still come here often as the atmosphere is always welcoming read more

The food was just okay--nothing really stood out. It tasted like it may have been reheated after sitting for a few days, and overall it was pretty bland and could have used more flavor. The service was also quite slow and felt a little inattentive. It wasn't a terrible experience, but there are definitely some areas that could be improved. read more

Don't stop here unless you're hungry. Food is delicious, inexpensive, and comes in HUGE portions. The staff is polite, friendly, courteous, and extremely efficient. Breakfast is their speciality, but they also serve lunch items: burgers, sandwiches etc. The only drawback is that they close at 3pm (opens at 6am). You won't be sorry if you stop in. read more

I wish this place was closer to my home because it would be the answer to the age old question of where are we going to eat? Unfortaunely it is only open till 3pm daily, but I could defiantly eat breakfast and lunch here every day and never get tired of it. The restaurant was very clean including their bathrooms. Overall, it's a Southern-style food haven with a mix of traditional favorites and a few indulgent extras. Your pickiest of eaters are guaranteed to find something to eat here. There do vegetarian and gluten-free options available if you have diets restrictions. Fountain drinks are Pepsi products just in case you wanted to be prepared ahead of time. Everything we had was delicious even down to the ranch we dipped the fried pickles in. Our waitress was very nice and super attentive and we didn't have to wait very long to get our food despite the restaurant being very busy. The hamburger was your basic burger and fries, but that was because the person chose to get it that way, but was still a decent burger (the burger was cooked well but still juicy). The country fried steak was also juicy and not rubbery which some times can happen. The fried pickles were perfectly seasoned and not overly salty and pair really well with their house made ranch dressing. Smoked sausage was cooked perfectly as well as the eggs for both the breakfast plate and the benedict. There was only 1 thing that I could say negatively about the food and that was the fried green tomatoes. They were very under seasoned and tasted like eating bitter cornmeal. The tomatoes very firm, but there was a real lack of seasoning...they did taste better when dipped in the ranch though lol. read more

Cute place, just off the main drag (Andy Griffith Pkwy). Big metal roosters outside with seats on the porch, very homey and cabin-y feeling inside. We stopped in for breakfast while in the area, and oh my! Our server (Anita) was so friendly. She immediately brought coffee and then gave us a few minutes to look at the large menu. Hubs ordered an omelette (meat-lovers) that came with a large serving of hash browns. The omelette was huge too and loaded with meat (ham, sausage, bacon) and cheese. I ordered the "Memaw breakfast" which was 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, a choice of meat, and 2 sides (I ordered grits and apples). I was expecting small "silver dollar" pancakes- nope! Two big fluffy pancakes the size of the large plate. The sausage patties were twice as big as Cracker Barrel's. And I don't know where CB gets their eggs, but 2 eggs here (scrambled eggs) took up half the plate. At CB, 2 eggs are hard to find on the plate . Anyway - I ate the eggs, one of the sausage patties and the grits and had to get a box for the rest. Next morning, I split my leftovers with hubs... pancakes were the fluffiest and most tender I've ever eaten. Bottom line , bring a big appetite or plan to take a lot home. This place puts Cracker Barrel to shame.... read more

Average food for an average experience in a town with not many choices. The food was pretty good. Prices were decent too. Our waitress brought us our bill without asking if we wanted refills or anything so that was annoying. Also the French toast came with syrup already on it, which made it soggy and just disappointing. read more

This was my first time eating lunch at Rusty Rooster. It was a Monday and not terribly busy. My friend and I were served by Breanna, who was so cheerful and sweet. Excellent service. I had a bacon cheeseburger, medium. It tasted pretty good, slightly overcooked. The onion rings had no flavor by themselves, but they did hold together, and would be alright with ranch or mustard. My friend's eggs benedict was good, or so he said. I'd come back. read more

Everything about this place is just ok. Food is mediocre and service isn't great. I will say this the place is really cute and has nice decor. But is comparable to just going to cracker barrel instead. read more

If you're like me, road trips always include several obnoxiously huge breakfasts. A food coma makes me a better driver I swear! This plate was STRONG. The bacon was perfect & the sugar dusted pancakes divine. The real star of the show were the red skinned potato home fries. A fresh take on a diner staple, these spuds were fantastic! I don't know what type of oil or grease they were fried in, but there is no way it was healthy. Coffee sucked wind. Not Bob Evan's bad, but close. read more

A long night of driving and very hungry bellies found their way to this farmhouse style breakfast kitchen. Quick to be seated by friendly staff. The decor is great - many pieces I'd love to hang in my own farmhouse kitchen. The homefries!!!! O M G!!!!! Potatoes are my comfort food and these were cozy goodness! The coffee... no amount of creamer or sugar was able to help me drink it but the OJ - Fabulous! Not from concentrate and a can, that's for sure. The bathroom was clean but the stalls are SMALL. I was crowded in there and the potty is reminiscent to the days of kindergarten. Low to the ground. read more

We found this breakfast spot on a whim on a road trip. What an absolute gem of a find. It's an out of the way place totally worth seeking out. We had no wait on a Saturday morning. I had a make your own combo with country ham, scrambled eggs, grits, hashbrowns and a biscuit. the biscuit was heavenly and I will take country ham any time I see it on a menu. I tasted my husband's pancakes and they were exemplary. Best pancakes since my grandma was alive. The dining room is rustic and charming. Our server was a lovely young woman who was very on top of things and kept us happy. I hope I can make it back here the next time I'm driving to Atlanta. read more

I stopped in for breakfast on my road trip back home, and I'm so glad I did! Right away you are met with good customer service and southern hospitality and it stays like that the whole time. We started with coffee and orange juice. I go the biscuits and gravy: delicious, the biscuits were perfect, and the gravy was spot on. My friend got the cinnamon roll pancakes. They were sweet and delicious. Exactly as described. read more

Our experience was not good at all. When we were seated, we were put in a two top booth. We asked to move as our table was right in the main traffic area of servers coming out with food and opposite another booth right beside it through a plexiglass window. We asked to move to a four top booth over along a quieter wall. As we were moving the server that sat us, spoke in Spanish to another server in front of us about us moving. That's in very poor taste as you're not really sure what they're saying and it didn't seem very positive. Our server seemed to care less about customer service, instead about going through the tasks of taking orders and delivering food. And we aren't demanding or rude about customer service; I used to work in restaurant for years. We ordered breakfast with a side of hashbrowns. It was evident that the hash brown had been from the day before. I sent mine back to get fresh potatoes. They came back in less than two minutes. When I questioned it, the girl said she saw them cook them and that they were fresh. As she was running the other orders and it takes longer than two minutes to cook fresh hashbrowns, I'm not sure how she saw them cook them. At that point, I didn't argue, I just didn't eat them. I asked her to take the potatoes off of our meals, she said we would have to talk to the person at the register. When we went to the register, the person at the register asked how things were. When we started to explain, the person was apathetic, short, and rude. She seriously spoke to us brusquely and rushed like she didn't want to deal with it. I asked to have some taken off of our meal for the potatoes that neither one of us ate. Eating out is more expensive than it used to be. I expect food to be up to standard as well as the service. We both walked away from that experience very annoyed. It's disheartening when you feel like you've wasted your money. read more

Everything was delicious. If you are looking for a great country food restaurant. This place is that place. Service is always so friendly and fast. Our first time to the restaurant. Waited over 40 minutes for our food. People seated after us got food before us. They finally brought out my daughters waffle and we still waited for the rest. My Egg Benedict and potatoes were cold. My husbands food was cold too and his eggs Benedict was over cooked. My daughter with food allergies had a good meal. Grilled chicken and French fries. We didn't complain. We just wanted to eat. They may have tried to warm things up. But we didn't want to wait any longer. I'm willing to go back and try again. But for our first experience it wasn't great. read more

This family restaurant has a large menu with many options to choose from. Some of the food was pretty good, but some was not as good. The tastiest things were the chicken sandwich and the pancakes. The worst item was the macaroni and cheese. The atmosphere and decor are nice and the service was good. The bathroom was not clean. Overall, I'd say that we'll try somewhere else for brunch when we're in the area again. read more

Interesting place. Went on a Saturday morning around 7am. We were one of the first to arrive. The waitress was polite but didn't understand the menu. We asked basic questions about milk gravy vs sausage and she couldn't answer them. We ended up ordering both, in the future I'd go with the sausage. The milk gravy and biscuits was just thickened milk, no other flavorings. Biscuits tasted ok, crispy on the bottom and dry for southern biscuits. It needed extra gravy to offset. Overall, we'll maybe try it again the next time we're in town with the hope of a better waitress and try different items. Restaurant was clean, bright, and had a large selections of options. read more

The "manager" who was behind the bar is very disrespectful and quite frankly, doesn't know how to do her job. Would not recommend this place. read more

Upon entering I was immediately greeted and given the option of sitting at the bar or a booth. I told them it didn't matter, so they sat me in a booth. The waitress was very attentive to all of her tables. The "South of the Border" section caught my eye so I ordered Papas & Huevos and ordered chorizo to go with it. I'm not a huge fan of chorizo, so I wanted to see if they could cook it and I end up liking it. WELL, the chorizo was cooked PERFECTLY with my eggs and potatoes. It gave them extra flavor that I wouldn't have had without it. The eggs didn't look like they'd be as light and fluffy as they were. I can't tell if the pintos were out of a can or homemade, but they were still great nonetheless. I really enjoyed the ambiance. Reminds you a lot of a primitive farm house, and they play about the same type of music as Cracker Barrel. It's very very clean, and just all around a wonderful addition to the Mt. Airy area. I will be back! read more

We've been waiting for this new restaurant to open. It officially opened on 12/8/21. We stopped in on their second day so we expected the new staff to still be in training. They close at 3p so we arrived a little after 2p so it wouldn't be crazy busy. The inside has been beautifully renovated so everything is new and clean. The waitstaff was excellent as was the service. We had a little wait for our food but again, everyone is learning so it wasn't an issue for us. I ordered the California omelette and it was a WOW! Great flavor cooked perfect. The sausage gravy came steaming hot and was great as well. It's rare that I leave a restaurant 110% satisfied but today I did. The food was perfect! My husband ordered the Meemaw Platter- don't you just love that name? It came with a little bit of everything. He commented that the grits were steaming hot, which was unusual. In other restaurants they are usually served warm at best. They offer an extensive menu with lunch options as well such as burgers, subs, etc. We are thrilled to have found a breakfast place other than what is currently in this market. We are excited to return. read more
