We made it - this place is packed

After a decade of either being too late or the line being too long - I have finally made it to Snappy Lunch and tried their famous pork chop sandwich. We happened to be walking by right before it got busy and were the last to sit down before a line formed up the street. 5 of us ate here for $30. Prices are amazing. They pump people through here all day. No fries - it will be chips and a drink. They have a guy that just cooks bacon. Love that. Step into history and find a way to eat here - don't be grumpy - it's old, quaint and frozen in time.

The staff was very nice, Everyone seemed to be enjoying the Famous Pork Chop Sandwich. I thought I'd try it as did two friends of ours. Three of us had the pork chop sandwich with mustard, chili, slaw and tomato (All the way). The pork chop was so big that it hangs well outside the bun on both ends. My wife had the Bacon Cheeseburger. The pork chop sandwich was very tender. But the taste was bland and lacking. The breading had a weird texture to me. Those of us that ordered the pork chop sandwich, only one of us actually finished it. I threw three quarters of mine away. My wife said that her Bacon Cheeseburger was good. This place stays busy either because the majority like it or the tourists feel they have to try it. To be fair, maybe it was just us.

We got here at 12:15 on a Monday and they close at 1:45. It was packed! Thankfully we were able to grab the last open table at the door. Took a little bit of time to have our order taken, but the poor servers were running around trying to keep up. Once we got our order in, we had our food in no time. It was cool to look around and see all the memorabilia on the walls. Food was good. We tried the famous pork chop sandwich and the breaded cheeseburger. Both were good! We love trying new things, and we'd never had either of these before. Definitely a fun spot to stop on our way from FL to OH.

Great service, friendly staff, inexpensive prices, and interesting food choices. Tried the Pork Chop Sandwich and fried bologna on a biscuit. The Pork Chop Sand was ok, I wasn't a fan of the coleslaw on it. The bologna Sandwich was more to my liking. Everyone needs to experience Snappy Lunch!

Had the pork chop sandwich which would rate 4-5 as it was really good and prices were reasonable. My issue would be with the waitress, the 4 of us felt like we were inconveniencing her by being there and for this reason alone, I would not recommend this place. Friendly service is a requirement for food service!

I've been to Snappy Lunch many times over the years. The atmosphere is very casual but service is friendly. The food is simple and the prices are cheap. The walls are covered with Mayberry decor. If the restaurant is full, they have a sign outside to wait. Tables flip pretty quickly so you will not be waiting long. On my most recent stop, I ordered the cheeseburger and added bacon and that was $5.50 and got a bag of 60 cent chips too. How can you beat those prices? The food came out snappy fast too. I knew this wouldn't be gourmet, but the burger was good and there was a lot of bacon on it. They were out of tea when I was there and some soda products. This is a great place to visit for some nostalgia and good food.

Well I made my once a year trip to Mount Airy was this week. My son and I went Hicks Water Stoves to get chemicals and a new pump for our water stove.Naturally we always go to the Snappy Lunch. With the weather on the COLD side and snow on the way there was no line. I feel sure because of the weather I believe it was 29 for the high. And windy. So anyway we had no trouble getting a table.Could not hardly get seated and our waitress was getting our drinks. Coming in the door you could smell sausage. Somewhere in the back of my mind I was thinking Mmm a sausage and egg sandwich would be good. But I still had to have a Pork Chop sandwich. So I ordered one all the way and one with lettuce tomato and mustard. My son ordered a Bologna sandwich with cheese mustard slaw. We both got a bag of chips.Like us a few heavy clothed folks came in and was gone. Our food came pretty quick. Nice and hot like it should be on a slow day. They made sure our drinks never ran out. As a matter of fact I switched over to coffee to get a little more heat in my old body. My pork chop sandwich all the way came with mustard chili slaw tomato and onion. Both were just as good as the last year's meal. The young man running the place was counting the money and a customer came in picking up a togo order and he laughed telling him Living the dream. I made the comment to him that I bet a slow day wasn't a bad thing knowing the next decent day it would be full and folks standing in line. He made the comment a break was not a bad thing. Who knows I might need something for the water stove before next year.

A national treasure that is as nostalgic as they come. It's been over 25 years since my last visit and it didn't let me down. Of course, I had the pork chop sandwich all the way. How can you not make this a stop when visiting good ole Mayberry. The staff is very aware of their notoriety and make you feel like Andy when you walk in the door. It takes you back to a simpler time in Americana where friendships were made on the front porch and lessons were taught behind the woodshed.

Flashback to a slower pace time and this is exactly what to expect. I heard that you should get there before 11:45 or expect a long wait. We arrived at 11:30 and just missed the last spot and was first in line outside. We waited about 15 minutes for the next table. We ordered the famous fried pork chop sandwich and a drink. It's cooked to order so it was about 20 minutes wait. No plates, just a hot sandwich wrapped in paper. Napkins on the table. $4.45 for the famous pork chops sandwich. Lunch for 2 was less than $15, which you pay up front at the cashier.

The food is delicious and the line out the door is worth waiting for to enjoy Snappy's World Famous breakfast plates, biscuits & sandwiches. The service is great and has 'no nonsense' ordering. The ambiance is unique and has a lot of Snappy Lunch landmark memorabilia. Definitely worth visiting.

We stopped by for a quick breakfast before touring the town. Glad we did as lines formed soon after we arrived. We had a fried bologna and egg sandwich and the Famous Pork Chop Sandwich (pork chop, coleslaw, mustard, chili,) along with coffee. The bologna sandwich was great and reminded me of my childhood. The pork chop sandwich was interesting but it tasted very good as well. The coffee was tasty. The walls are full of memorabilia and many old menus. The prices are amazing, the two of us ate for 11$ before tip. A must stop if in the area.

We had lunch here today and EVERYONE we met was friendly and helpful. The pork chop sandwich is a must. I was a little nervous about it being dry and our waitress assured me it wouldn't be and she was right!!! It was fantastic. We also ordered the breaded cheeseburger which was good, but the pork chop sandwich is the one to go with. Also the history and charm of the place is pretty cool. We had no problem getting a table for two at 12:30 on a Saturday....maybe because it was 40 degrees out, but I'm not complaining. Great place to grab a quick bite!

Then, this year happened. I wish I knew what happened, but Odell's is BACK! They have the same yummy food they were known for and the service is great! They are so friendly and prompt. We always joking called it "Slow-dells" because of how they would take 45 minutes to bring the food AFTER you called it in prior to driving there. Now, we pulled up and placed the order and it was out piping hot within 10 minutes. Absolutely amazing! I don't know what they changed, but they've cracked the code and I wish them all the success in the world! Our food: Mom got a cheeseburger basket, which was perfect! Husband and Dad got Big Moe baskets, again perfect. I got a hotdog (for old time's sake) and it was everything I remembered as a kid. So delicious and nostalgic. I also had a chicken tender basket and it was good. It wasn't the same chicken tenders and bbq sauce that it used to be, but like most places, that is hard to keep the exact same over the years, especially with varying food service providers and whatnot. If you previously had stopped going here, give them another chance. You'll be pleasantly surprised!

It was very cold where we were sitting and the server allowed us to move to a warmer spot. We ordered a fried mushroom appetizer. This was very good. You get a choice of Texas toast, hushpuppies, or rolls. My coworker ordered salmon. When the food came out, my ribs were wet. I told the server that I had ordered dry rub. He stated they were dry but had sauce on them. I'm sorry, that is not a "dry rib", in my opinion. The first piece of rib meat I ate was soft and juicy. The next two were super dry and I could not eat any more of them. My coworker joked that that was probably what they were referring to when they said "dry rub". The green beans were ok. I added a ton of pepper and some hot sauce. I saved the mac & cheese for lunch the next day. The hushpuppies were dense and needed a little more flavor. My coworker commented that her salmon was ok but nothing to write home about. I should have went with my first instinct and ordered from the kids menu. The prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is nice.
