This place is a total vibe via their motif and atmosphere; it was a fun stop, if for nothing more than to peruse the tchotchkes adorning the walls, counter and table space. It's historic and rustic decor matched the historic downtown location and their flightboard was also customized as it was made out of a barrel stave! Quick service and friendly bartenders. Clean space why don't burn plenty of seating. Lots of screens with college football on this Saturday evening. Beer, wine, draft bottles and water all easily available. Limited food selection out of the cooler including cupcakes, and charcuterie. We were looking for somewhere to watch college football and baseball on. Saturday afternoon and were recommended to come here by another restaurant. They have outdoor seating and have an open feel inside with one tv behind the bar and a few more in the seating areas. They have a pretty good variety of beers though my favorite was one of their IPAs. It was really good and they canned me one for the trip home. The bartender was nice and changed the tv to the game that we wanted to watch. Lots of seating and the locals were really friendly. We would definitely come back. They do offer pretty affordable flights and there is ample parking nearby. Cheers! read more

Even though I don't drink beer and there are no other options I gave the joint 5 stars. The ambiance is very cool and they have a few old games like Popeye! The outside seating is amazing! The hubby likes beer so wanted to stop in and give it a whirl. His first beer, Two Dope Hops in a Cadillac, was a hazy IPA with a bitter citrus front that tappers off. The second IPA on the menu, 30 Day Tag Vol 9, is strong! Very hoppy, but compared to the other more crisp and less bitter. Fun place! read more

We loved this place. Live music was outside that evening and we just sat out there and had a couple beers. The bartender that day was super nice and welcoming. He let us sample as many beers as we liked to pick us out one to drink. He told us they run more darks in the fall and we may return for that! read more

Stopped by after wanting to relax after a long hike at Pilot Mountain and were very impressed with the selection, price, and atmosphere! We each had the flight (four generous pours for $8) and tried a few different things, but there wasn't really anything that we flat out didn't like. Instead, every beer we tried (even the dark ones which im usually not a fan of) was refreshing and very flavorful. The star if the bunch though was a hot honey beer that had quite a surprising kick but was still absolutely delicious. I could have enjoyed it all day! Service was great, as the guys behind the bar answered all our questions and helped us make our selections. We were also quickly offered a bowl of water for our dog which was a nice touch as well! I don't head this way too often, but I will definitely come out of my way to try White Elephant again! read more

The Lady and I just stopped by for a pint, and we were very impressed by the selection and price point of what White Elephant offered! It was fun to stop by in the middle of the day and see their daily crowd sitting at the bar or the tables. The Lady and I found two seats at the bar and each grabbed a beer - I grabbed something from the cooler from Full Steam and The Lady grabbed a Prarie sour on tap (There were 8 taps, all good stuff!). Vibe was really relaxed and welcoming, just a good place to sit, talk, and catch up on life. It wasn't quite ready, but a brewery was moving in right across the street! I think that White Elephant and this brewery will be fantastic street partners, looking forward to seeing them both flourish! read more

So mount airy finally got it a "local beer" brewery. I grew up in this town and knew they have always missed the local touch for the younger and more adventurous type when it comes to beverage selection... To try and pull people from the macro brews such as Budweiser, miller and coors ; well that time has come, and this new local spot is going to be a great hit. I went for the first time last night and it was awesome. The setting is rustic, yet modern and the beer selection is great. They have 8 taps at the bar, and according the owner they are going to try and rotate local brews. In addition, if you need some local brews to take home you can purchase local beers by the single bottle, can; or put them together in 6 packs! I can't wait to eventually taste the home made brew that is pumped out of this location starting hopefully by the end of this year, or beginning of next! The only place to my knowledge in good ole Mt Airy that serves NC craft beers and is a craft beer bar. I have a good amount of friends that are from/live in Mt Airy so whenever we are in town you can 100% expect us to stop here at least once. A good size bar with plenty of seating inside with large tables that hold groups of 8. Plenty of area outside on their patio to play games like cornhole or the other various card/board games they have inside. Not only do they have 8+ taps rotating fine beer from throughout NC and more. They have bottles and 6 packs all over the wall for your take home enjoyment. They also have a cold selection if you care to enjoy a bottle or can while stopping in! I see this place as becoming more and more popular as time goes on and becoming even better then what it already is. The first and best of its kind in Mt Airy and I will always be a fan. read more

Best craft brew selection outside of Charlotte! They keep eight different brews on tap at any given time and have a huge selection of different bottled beers for sale. They also change their selections out often, so there is always something new to try! We get most of our craft beers we review on the Forkin' Awesome podcast at Granite City Brews and the owners are highly knowledgeable and offer super suggestions. The atmosphere is great and the outdoor seating is rare find in Mount Airy. Be aware that this is a brew only place, no food is sold here (outside of a bag of pretzels), but who cares when there is so many good beers to sample! I am a Florida Native traveling through North Carolina on vacation. My girlfriend and her family are Westfield natives, and all spoke very highly of Granite City Brews. They certainly did not over hype the establishment! We went mid afternoon for a couple beers. It's hard to find a place that is dedicated to offering local North Carolina craft brews, and GCB did just that! From Asheville to Kinston there were beers available from all over the state. Hands down the greatest experience I've had at any small Brewery. I have traveled all around the US and have gone to plenty of places like this. I was just passing by after a fishing trip with friends and it was the perfect ending. We all agreed it was worth driving two hours to come back to. They have a great beer selection, ranging from special NC beers to great priced imports, and a couple beers on draft. We were happy to be able to enjoy our beers outside with our dog (even though this yelp listing says "no dogs allowed"). We bought some Belgian beers that are hard to find in Belgium itself, so that was a nice surprise. We enjoyed talking to the owners too. read more

This place is a saving grace for a beer enthusiast who lives in Surry County. It is very difficult to find quality and local brews in such an abundance and variety in this area. The beer is really organized and uncrowded on shelfs with nice labeling that makes it easy to see and find. Decent draft selections and cold beers in the fridge to pick from. I also really love the location and the atmosphere. Nice tasting bar with good staff. My only advice would be that they have some kind of rewards system for frequent customers or a membership of some sort. read more
