This is very much a neighborhood pub, and if you are not a regular, nobody knows your name or probably cares to. This place opened in 2006 in a down town area that was more than a little rough, but it took off, building a faithful following. COVID hit the spot hard, and the original owner closed the place in 2021. It reopened in 3022 under new management and seemed headed in the right direction. But recently things have turned very messy, with unpaid wages and vendor invoices, The State has several investigations going on at present, and survival seems a long shot. I have eaten here a handful of times and found the food and service to be rather good. The Fish and Chips (comes in small or large), the Celtic Chili, the Corned Beef and Cabbage, the Reuben, and the Bangers and Mash were are worth a shot. I don't sense these spot will be open much longer. A shame really.

Service was really slow, even though our server was really nice. No real atmosphere even though it got busier as the evening went by. Big blow when we were told they didn't have bangers to go with the mash. Disappointing. We went with the fish and chips and got a side of the garlic mashed potatoes. Also tried the scotch eggs. The eggs were actually really good and nice and hot. Served with a Dijon mustard they were probably the best part of the evening. Nice crunchy coating of breadcrumbs and sausage. Good app. The fish and chips were ok. Lots more batter than actual fish inside. Very greasy. Chips were not the steak fries thick cut like they use to do awhile back. We asked for curry sauce several times before we actually got it. As this is a must anytime you have fish and chips. They should just serve it with it. The mashed potatoes were awesome. Very rich and buttery. We ordered another side as it was the best thing on our table. We also had a round of vodka sodas. Standard good bar drink. I really hoped this would be the great pub experience for my friend but it wasn't what I expected. Hopefully next time round will be better. Hope the get some bangers in soon !!

So, it is with that in mind that I will say how much I love this place. A small unassuming place just over the border in Davidson county that is on of the first bars (if not THE first in Davidson county[not including Lexington and Thomasville]) to open in the county. !2 draft taps, 8-10 wines, and a full bar. Competent bar tenders with Alex and Cole know how to satisfy whatever thirst you may have. Ask Alex about Irish Whiskey...if you like Bourbon, get Cole to make you an Old Fashioned. They have pool leagues and tournaments, also darts. They have Karaoke and trivia..and now live music on Saturdays. Hungry? they have Boarshead sandwiches and chips or you are welcome to have your own food delivered there or bring some with you. Be prepared you do have to pay for a membership and sign in, but its a BIG $5 to join ! MY lady, who generally doesn't like bars, even enjoys it here, it's just a neighborhood feel. If you live in the area, or even if you don't, drop in and support them with a few drinks.

It was standing room only this evening, and we had to park it near the door near the food truck. Being near the door in February, my daughter was getting cold. A woman came over, propped the door OPEN, and proceeded to video the band from half way out the door. She said something to my daughter about her being cold, which my daughter was honest about, but was ignored as she continued to video. As any father would do, I stepped in and asked to close the door as my family is cold, and went back to where I was standing. She proceeded to get in my face and say, "I'm the OWNER here and I'm getting a video" and went back to what she was doing. No I'm sorry, no recognition of her patron's needs. Just complete dismissal and rudeness. Needless to say, we didn't spend another nickel there, and never will. We left and will never be back as long as someone with that view of their patrons is still in charge. Zero stars for service and ownership regardless of how good their product may be. Other than that, the coffee was delicious and satisfying. My friend got a cappuccino that he said was excellent as well. The place had the most beautiful aroma of freshly roasted coffee. Neither of us got anything to eat, but they did have a couple of options. I'm pretty sure one of them was a croissant of some sort and we will have to try that when we go back.
