Back here after awhile bringing a friend who wanted to experience Irish food . Fish and chips and bangers and mash specifically. Unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations. Service was really slow, even though our server was really nice. No real atmosphere even though it got busier as the evening went by. Big blow when we were told they didn't have bangers to go with the mash. Disappointing. We went with the fish and chips and got a side of the garlic mashed potatoes. Also tried the scotch eggs. The eggs were actually really good and nice and hot. Served with a Dijon mustard they were probably the best part of the evening. Nice crunchy coating of breadcrumbs and sausage. Good app. The fish and chips were ok. Lots more batter than actual fish inside. Very greasy. Chips were not the steak fries thick cut like they use to do awhile back. We asked for curry sauce several times before we actually got it. As this is a must anytime you have fish and chips. They should just serve it with it. The mashed potatoes were awesome. Very rich and buttery. We ordered another side as it was the best thing on our table. We also had a round of vodka sodas. Standard good bar drink. I really hoped this would be the great pub experience for my friend but it wasn't what I expected. Hopefully next time round will be better. Hope the get some bangers in soon !!

This was quite the surprise for delicious food!!! My husband and I had been out and about all evening and were looking for a bite to eat close by. We stopped by here and had some great Irish influenced food. We both got the shepherds pie and it was perfection. Warm, cheesy and tender...been craving it since! The mac and cheese is "famous" for a reason because it is top notch. Service was ok, it's more of a bar scene so not expecting too much! Ambiance is very Irish bar like. I enjoyed the vibe!

Lots of great food and service in downtown Winston Salem this past weekend. Shauna (very fun and helpful with food choices) at Finnegan's Wake: Dark & Stormy and I had vodka pickle backs, Goat Cheese potato cakes topped with apple butter (fantastic), the "small" Bangers and Mash, Shepherds Pie With a side of Mac n cheese. That Mac looked so good I got some to go for my dinner and it reheated really well! Everything was hot, fast and delicious!

I've been to Finnigan's many, many times, and it's always good food and great to see the faces I know. The staff are super friendly I came in for dinner with a couple of guys. The special was open faced Irish flag meatloaf with Smithwicks gravy. So good. I've had the gravy on other things and it's magic. I also had sweet potato fires on the side, as usual. We were waited on by Rachel, very friendly and smiley. Made us feel welcome and was always around. Between the atmosphere, food, and service, Finnigan's can't be beat.

We mainly come here for the breakfast shot and sit at the bar. It is always great and a reasonable price. The bartenders are nice and provide good service. There was a good amount of seating throughout available at 7pm on a Saturday.

This visit was a pleasure! What can beat getting a beer and a nice bowl of Guinness stew? It was so warm and hearty and spooned over a big pile of tasty mashed potatoes. The whole entire dish was absolutely delicious and warmed me from the inside out. The service was a bit slow but they were nice so I can overlook it. There are other things in the menu that look so I will hopefully visit again.

Aesthetic: Traditional, lively Irish pub with a wide variety of delicious Irish meals, beers, and desserts. Experience: We had an amazing meal here! We ordered the Corned Beef and the Bangers, and both dishes were incredible. My husband said it was the best Corned Beef he's ever tried. The mashed potatoes and cabbage were my highlights, I could eat an entire bowl of just those! Our waitress was sweet and attentive to us. It's on a main strip, so parking in front is sparse, be prepared to walk a block or two. We wished we lived close so we could try the whole menu, but now we have an excuse to visit Winston Salem more! Conclusion: Go here if you're looking for a great traditional Irish comfort meal, this is it!

Good late night meal but the taps were all down because the compressor had gone out. Ouch!! We were hungry and ordered way too much! Celtic chili with cheese and sour cream was really good! A bowl.is plenty for a full meal. We also ordered fish and chips with 2 pieces of hot, flaky fish and fries and the small bangers and mash plate. I really liked the faint vinegar flavor of the cabbage.

Great downtown location, vegetarian-friendly menu, but didn't love food. Finnigan's Wake Irish Pub has a great downtown location with ample paid parking nearby. We went on a busy Friday night and we were able to get seated right away. We were placed at one of the tables in the bar that were high tops, and the vibe was definitely a little rowdy. On brand for an Irish pub, but we would choose to sit in the main dining room next time. I chose the fish and chips and also got the ginger berry jam cocktail. The cocktail was sweet and was pretty average for alcohol content. The fish and chips were a bit disappointing. The fries were a little underdone and the fish was pretty basic. The fried coating on the outside of the fish was lovely, but the inside seemed a little overdone. I also ended up having a stomach ache after dinner, which isn't typical for me. Entirely possible it was a coincidence. This is definitely a great place to grab drinks and socialize. I'll probably order something a little different next time.

My mom & I come here every February & July to celebrate my dad as Finnigan's was the very first place him & my mom ever experienced after I moved to NC. My dad absolutely LOVED this place & we enjoy honoring his memory with a trip here twice a year. The food since reopening doesn't disappoint ! It is just as good as the original. The service is always good & pretty dang quick. I see why my dad loved the place so much- the vibe is definitely a cool one. I love all writing on the back wall. Thank you for being there for us to celebrate my dad !!

I recently ate at Finnigan's Wake for the first time. I love a good Irish pub. We were greeted and seated immediately which was suprising considering it was a Friday night. I was torn between the shepherds pie and the fish n chips. I finally decided on the fish n chips. This is a cool laid back place that I'm sure is jam packed on St Patrick's Day. Our waitress was great. No empty glasses on our table. Great service in a very hospitable environment with fantastic food.

It's great to be back at Finnigans! The beer selection was as good as I remember it being. I settled on a Hoots Irish red special (Irish and local just made sense). We had a nice lunch with great service. I was a bit surprised to find a good salad at an Irish pub, but it happened! I ordered the superfood salad with grilled chicken added and loved it! The feta vinegar and honey mustard side dressings were really good!

Wasn't the best and wouldn't get again. The peach lavender cocktail with champagne was too sweet so also wouldn't get again. It also didn't have enough of the bubbly-ness of champagne. The shrimp tacos without aioli were really good. Shrimp cooked perfectly. The lettuce and mango pico were fresh. Would get again. My fiancé had the pork mac and cheese. The portion was filling. The meat was flavorful, and the mac and cheese was pretty good. It was missing one ingredient that we couldn't place, but overall pretty good. We want to come back and try more entrees. Not so sure about the cocktails. Service was good. The waiter let my fiancé sample a cider he was interested in (it was okay, but we didn't order a full glass). I ordered the Cajun Cod Wrap from their weekly specials menu after seeing the photo they posted on Facebook. It looked good but what I received was a total disappointment. It looked nothing like the picture. First of all, it was tiny. I honestly thought I'd been given a kid's meal. It was that small. And for $15? It definitely wasn't worth the price. Second, the wrap was only filled halfway, with the rest of it being mostly tortilla. Finally, I took a bite and couldn't taste any Cajun seasoning at all. I let my husband and son each try a bite as well and neither of them could taste any Cajun either. We rarely complain about our food but this time we had to. Our server was incredibly kind and immediately agreed that it looked nothing like it should. She went to get the manager but another staff member came over because the manager was busy. He was also very friendly, understanding and agreed that what I received wasn't right. He offered to either remove it from our bill or let me order something else. I chose the street tacos because I know those are always good. I really appreciated how smoothly and professionally they handled the situation. That said, something similar happened before when I ordered from their weekly specials menu so I've decided I won't be ordering from it again. I'll be sticking to their regular menu from now on.
