Along the banks of the Dan River in Danbury, NC, a short drive down a bumpy dirt road, you will find the Green Heron. Dogs run off-leash, kayaks float by lazily on the river, and people can choose from one of 20 beers and 8 wines on tap, aided by the affable bartenders. It's as laid back as laid back gets, somewhat tempered by the heat, or perhaps things slow down because of the calming effect of the river. Located just 2 miles from the front gate of Hanging Rock State Park, its in the perfect location to stop by after a day of hiking or kayaking, or an easy destination drive from the Triad. (40 minutes from Winston-Salem, and 60 minutes from Greensboro.) They often have live music, but always have cold A/C on the inside, and great views of the river on the outside. It's tin roof, rusted. It's the Green Dragon on the Bywater. There is no phone reception here, no TV blaring sports or politics either. Leave your phone in the car, grab a locally brewed beer, and listen to the river, listen to your friends, listen to the hounds baying, listen to someone singing and playing guitar, or listen to your own thoughts as the river drifts slowly by. (Ok, so they do have free WiFi, but I STILL recommend leaving your phone in the car.)

All-in-all, good brewery... The beer is respectable; it's not the best craft beer you will find, but for the Martinsville area, it's solid brew (we really liked their DIPA). The brewery is a veteran-owned joint and has a chill vibe... It's small, nicely designed, and has decent service (not great, but not bad). We'll stop back in again when in town.

I met Jake today, he is one of the owners and is an amazing person who is passionate about the quality of beer served. Does everyone really know what craft beer is?? Craft breweries aren't like the macrobreweries churning out billions of gallons of beer in a year. They usually care much more about how their brews taste, and they will take their time making sure that the end result is an adventure. If you haven't checked out a local craft brewery yet, you might be surprised just how creative beers can be. The beers I tried, The Lawn Mower is light American lager that you can drink all day. DA 'RONA is SCUFFLE HILLS take on a Mexican Cerveza. Pairs perfect with a lime. The Big Chair: OMG, this is the clear winner and one of the best beers I have tasted. The El Dorado and Huell melon makes this a beer that I can be happy with every day. Again, stop in, support your service members and bring a new vibe to Collinsville area. The vibe is warm and laid-back, with cozy couches, plenty of tables for groups or families, and four TVs so you can catch whatever game you're into. Their rotating draft list is always on point, and I love that tap #1 is always a cider, a thoughtful touch for those who like to switch things up. The cooler is packed with even more options in cans and bottles, so there's always something new to discover including CBD and Seltzer options, and if beer's not your thing, they've got cocktails priced right in line with other local spots. Terminal Tap also keeps things lively with Music Bingo on Mondays (shoutout to DJ Ok and Isaac!), Trivia on Thursdays (Let's go Mike and Katherine), and a steady lineup of community events, charity fundraisers, and local meetups. Dogs are welcome on leash, adding to the neighborhood charm. While they don't serve food, you're welcome to bring your own -- I even made ramen with friends during a recent trivia night! Whether you're a craft beer enthusiast or just looking for a friendly, place to unwind, Terminal Tap is absolutely worth checking out. Bonus they dress up the place seasonally too. Cheers!

It was standing room only this evening, and we had to park it near the door near the food truck. Being near the door in February, my daughter was getting cold. A woman came over, propped the door OPEN, and proceeded to video the band from half way out the door. She said something to my daughter about her being cold, which my daughter was honest about, but was ignored as she continued to video. As any father would do, I stepped in and asked to close the door as my family is cold, and went back to where I was standing. She proceeded to get in my face and say, "I'm the OWNER here and I'm getting a video" and went back to what she was doing. No I'm sorry, no recognition of her patron's needs. Just complete dismissal and rudeness. Needless to say, we didn't spend another nickel there, and never will. We left and will never be back as long as someone with that view of their patrons is still in charge. Zero stars for service and ownership regardless of how good their product may be. No thanks, Karen.

I wasn't in a beer mood so I opted for the rum & coke slushy-refreshing but I'm pretty sure there is virtually no alcohol in it. Worked for me though, I was all about the flavor and in need of an icy drink. Bartenders were on top of things and no wait for anything we needed! Live music, a pizza truck outside, and a few vendors set up inside. Always a great time!

We have always wanted to try this place out seeing it many times off of the roadway and it looked interesting because it was a converted gas station. As we parked and approached campus gas we noted that there was plenty of outdoor seating, primarily wooden benches, tables and places to lounge around outside near the fire pit. There were people enjoying a drink and playing a lively game of cornhole. We strolled around then went inside to explore what the business had to offer in the way of drinks and maybe get something to eat. As it turned out, it was around 9 o'clock, and the lady that came out from the kitchen told me that the kitchen was closed for the evening so we weren't able to get any food at that time so we walked around inside and looked at the small things for sale and the decorations saw the nice high top bar and chairs and since things were winding down, we decided to leave instead of having something to drink. We didn't see a bartender or someone to serve us a drink anyway. So as it stands, we'll have to come back by some other time and check it out. I hear the food is interesting, casual and good and there are a lot of beer selections. I look forward to coming back another time and trying the food and drink.

It's an old-style gas station you'd expect to find on Route 66 that has been converted into what I'll call a local pub. It's got some simple comfort foods to go along with a wide variety of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Barstool table seating inside with picnic tables outside. They've got a cornhole set outside to complete the backyard picnic feel, and I've even seen customers seated with their dogs. Very cool. My wife and I were cheerfully greeted when we walked in. We shared an order of chicken tenders and tater tots. My wife got a bottled water, and I picked a NA beer from their selection. Finally, someplace that carries an assortment of NA beers! The food took a while to come out, but this isn't a fast-food joint and it was nice to slow down and have a conversation. The chicken tenders and tater outs were hot and tasted great. Definitely a generous portion of both and I'm glad we got just one order. In summary, the place is nothing fancy. It's just a great place to hang out with friends and enjoy some comfort foods and frosty beverages. It's definitely on our "will return" list.
