She is knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and willing to have a nice conversation while doing our tasting along with another couple beside us. We loved all the wines we tasted, especially the sweet vermouth which was a surprise. We immediately joined the Enthusiast wine club. We took home 3 bottles of wine that day. After our tasting, which took about an hour, we had a reservation for lunch. We were seated inside the restaurant in front of a large window with a great view. We had the Mahi Mahi sandwich and Steak Diane. We also recommend the Tuna Carpacio appetizer and the goat cheese appetizer. We met the owners that day and have seen JW a couple times at our subsequent visits. We have also visited their sister winery, Rayson, and had a lovely time there as well. Jolo is a spacious winery with plenty of parking. There is indoor & outdoor seating with dining options. Some of the outdoor seating is covered. We came for a wine pick up party which included lunch options such as ham, Mac & cheese, coleslaw with raisins, rolls, cake, greens, and wine. The rolls weren't soft. The majority of the food was ok. We also ordered a mahi burger with fries. The fish was overcooked, bland, and not flavorful & the fries were not hot. One member of our group told our server about our fries & she was apologetic & more fries were brought out but they were overcooked. You do get a discount off of the wine if you are a wine club member. You also get an option of bringing guests to the pickup party. This was our first time at Jolo Winery and having dinner there. We had several recommendations and came here with some friends who had previously been here. From the start, we could tell it was going to be a good evening, although we wish we had opted for seating outside, you can never tell what the weather is going to be in North Carolina, so we had reservations for inside seating. We started with some hummus, which was fresh and over the top delicious. They only brought a few veggies with it, so we had to ask our server, Nikki, for some crusty bread. We got a bottle of the Golden Hallows white blend that was a great compliment to the grouper I ordered, as well as the blackened salmon my wife ordered. I must say though, the blackened salmon was more of a grill than blackened for my wife's dish. She also was not thrilled with the rice that came as a side although I thought it was decent. Some good friends invited us out to finally try this place so this was a nice treat to try this beautiful winery restaurant. It's absolutely enchanting. Every room is beautiful. Chandeliers are everywhere and there are lit candles on each table. Definitely come here for a special occasion. They have an extensive menu and of course their wine is lovely. We got the hummus plate for appetizer and you can tell it was made from scratch. So good ! It had chopped up olives and onions and they served it with sliced carrots and celery and our waitress was kind enough to notice we didn't have crustinis so she brought a small bowl to us. I went for the blackened salmon and I was surprised that it didn't seem like a blackened entree to me, but..it was moist and delicious. New to NC, and was told to check out JOLO winery. I thought it was a great idea to check it out after my husband baby and I finished a hike in the morning. I made a reservation on Open table however, we were disappointed to be turned away due to having a baby (far from over 21) with us. I saw the must be over 21 instruction on their website but I didn't assume that meant you couldn't have your infant with you. Bit upset, my husband doesn't plan to come back. We have been able to take our baby to other wineries breweries etc. with no issue so, we will go elsewhere in the future. read more

She was extremely knowledgeable In discussing the history and wine process. Kind, courteous, professional and accommodating to our needs. I enjoyed sampling the many wines, they all had distinct notes. My favorite is JOLO Pink. This wine has essence of strawberry, melon, white flowers and citrus. It has an amazing taste! Omg, the food was delicious. Everything was rich and indulgent! I had the Herb Crusted Grouper with smoked gouda cheese polenta, and roasted vegetables. This was so good, it had me craving more! We each had exquisite dishes, too many to name but they were scrumptious! I met Levi, who is the Vice President of JOLO BRANDS Experience. Finally came out to visit Jolo with the ladies. Our theme for brunch: Clueless, Tweed & Pearls. Lol We were the only ones "dressed up". Jolo is a beautiful winery. We had reservations for brunch then a wine tasting after. The service was good, everyone greeted us and the food came out fairly quick. We ordered the crab dip for the table which I suggest everyone orders it's so good creamy and has a lot of lumps of crab. My eggs Benedict was perfect! The only thing that was lacking was the flavor in the potatoes. I really wish they seasoned them, but I had ketchup so that helped. The ladies I went with had issues with their food and the main complaint was lack of flavor. One of my friends asked for cheese in the eggs, when it came to the table it was shredded cheese sitting on top of eggs, not melted, just sitting there. The wine tasting was great! We had the scallops, Blackened salmon, grouper and the Medallion Diane, crab dip, Thai shrimp, oysters. Plus various glasses of wine. It just feels like a restaurant on a hill. I don't have a ton of pictures, but this place was so lovely. I met 5 girlfriends here for a delayed Christmas dinner. First, I love that you had e to be 21 to enter the property! As a mom, I love that there is a place where I can be completely child free. The venue is very romantic looking when you drive up. There's a main building and 2 enclosed/heated gazebos that over look the lake. I definitely want to go back in the spring when it warms up. Our server MJ was very charismatic and attentive. She took our orders without writing anything down and everything was accurate. For drinks, I started with the peach bellini and ended with a Sangria. They were both well made and not too sweet. I make my own Sangria and have very high standards. Theirs was really good. Everyone else said positive things about their drinks, too! I ordered the Thai Shrimp and Pommes Frits as the appetizers and the Scallops & Fall Risotto as my entre. All were delicious. The shrimp were crispy with just enough Thai chili sauce, the fries were perfection. Just the right size and fried to perfection with the dusting of parm. The Scallops were perfectly pan seared. My only issue was with the risotto. It was a bit too al dente and salty for my liking. To get through it I had to take a bit along with each bite of Scallop. I didn't complain or send it back though. I just wouldn't order it again. The rest of the table got a few salads and pasta. All said they were delicious. Overall a great experience. I would love to have a date night there, but I would want to hire a car so that we can fully enjoy ourselves and drink more! read more

This winery is a scenic, hour drive from Greensboro, sitting just around the bend from Pilot Mountain. We had a reservation for Mother's Day, one of the four days out of the year they allow children onto the property. Any other day, this winery has a strict 21+ age limit that they adhere to. I had no idea when we got there that you can make reservations for wine tastings and the restaurant. We only had reservations for the restaurant. What a beautiful property with indoor and outdoor seating. You drive onto the property, with the vineyards at the forefront. The parking was a bit hectic on this day because of the holiday but they did have parking to accommodate everyone. I was greeted immediately upon walking in and they were able to seat us promptly. I highly recommend a reservation as the dining room is not very big. I was also impressed that they have a membership and there were a few regulars chatting it up with the staff, that gave a very welcoming, familiar atmosphere to the dining room. I immediately ordered a Bellini that was perfectly balanced with the peach juice and sparkling wine. They only serve water and wine/wine-tails to keep their focus on the winery, so be prepared for that. We started with the crab dip that was served with crispy crostinis, the dish was cheesy with lump pieces of crab meat. Overall a very good dish, that just needs a few more crostinis. My dish was the Steak Diane, which came with perfectly cooked filet medallions with pommes purée (mashed potatoes) with some carrots and fresh green beans. Paired perfectly with my glass of Jolotage Reserve. This red wine paired perfectly with the steak dish; it gave hints of berries with a slightly peppery finish. The medallions were tender and the dish had the perfect amount of cream sauce. The vegetables were cooked but not overly so, the green beans and carrots still had some firmness to them, which complimented the other textures on the plate. My dining party had the Seafood Alfredo with scallops and shrimp. It needed to be seasoned a bit more but the seafood was definitely the star of the dish. The scallops and shrimp were jumbo sized. I finished my meal with the Espresso Martini Crème Brûlée. They toasted the perfect amount of brûlée on my crème! As an avid coffee drinker, this was one of the best crème brûlées I've ever eaten. This meal was about $160 for two people, not too bad, but definitely worth it for a special occasion. This is a locally owned winery, and with that being said, pay attention to the alcohol percentages of the wine, they tend to be higher when the wine is locally produced. Overall, a wonderful experience which has me definitely wanting to return to do brunch and a wine tasting. read more

It's time to update my JOLO review from really good to great! We had a delicious brunch/lunch on Sunday. My husbands only thought was he needed more sauce on the eggplant rollatini. Other than that all our meals were tasty, served warm and perfectly seasoned. Service is outstanding both for dinner and our knowledgeable tasting host. It was such a great experience. The ambiance and the warm and friendly professional staff really make this vineyard a must see. I can honestly say that NC grown grapes/wine gets better every year. Their restaurant is also top notch with a changing menu according to the Boston native owner's whim. The owner and his VP are charming and accommodating. My fiancé and I came back here to celebrate our engagement anniversary. It was only about a 30 min drive from Winston-Salem downtown. He proposed at Jolo last year and the views are absolutely beautiful. We sat outside under their covered area and even though it rained, we were still able to enjoy being outside (w/ a rainbow afterwards!). They gave us 2 complimentary glasses of prosecco to celebrate our anniversary. Pros: We ordered the haddock and the steak Diane. The food tasted incredible and their menu offers suggestions of which of their wines would go best with their dishes, which I appreciated. JOLO is a beautiful place that is well appointed and known for its wine and food. I came to dine for the first time with a small group of friends and co-workers for a retirement dinner. The weather was perfect for the evening meal. We were seated in an outdoor semi-permanent tent area. Our main server was Maranda, and she was assisted by a couple of other staff. Excellent professional service. We ordered some appetizers for the table: meatballs (so good!), tuna with crostini, fries, and shrimp with some kind of sweet/sour sauce. All of them are quite good. I ordered haddock with a pesto sauce. There was a good portion of fish and it was cooked perfectly and had a beautiful texture and flavor. I could eat that all day. It had a side of carrots and green beans, both not being mushy or overcooked. I don't drink alcohol, but there were a couple of bottles of wine on the table and lots of exclamations about how good it was. I think the only downside, and it's a small one, is that they have only wine, juice, and water to drink. For those who don't drink alcohol, it was lacking. A mocktail or some kind of lemonade would have been nice. Overall, this is a great restaurant that I would gladly come back to. read more

She was very attentive and able to make recommendations as needed. The food was delivered quickly and with care. We the frites and the crab dip as appetizers for the table. Both were very good. I ordered the sausage bianco flatbread and some sangria. It was wonderful! Great meal! The flatbread was perfectly cooked with a slight crust to the cheese and the flatbread was still soft and chewy. The only downside to the whole experience was that the food had to be transported from the kitchen outside through the cold weather to our table. The food did cool off a bit, but was still warm. You can sit outside and sip on wine and look at Pilot Mountain in the distance! They've won a lot in the state but they've won a lot of awards nationwide too! They're putting NC on the map! I did a wine tasting it was $35, and it featured 7 of their wines. The food- JOLO's food is divine! Everything is freshly made there. And their restaurant is called the End Posts! I got their eggplant rotolini this time around and it was so light and earthy, it was delicious! I usually get their butternut squash ravioli which is also amazing. Their vegetarian options are commendable! The service- As if the above wasn't good enough, the service is what really drives the place as well. I have been to a lot of wineries but this one is a must see. Number one in the us outside of Napa . We checked it out on our way to north Carolina. Ended up having dinner there. Beautiful outdoor seating and view. The food and wine was great . We had the Thai chile panko shrimp for an appetizer and I had the beef bourguignon and my daughter had the tuna tempura . All very good. They also have a wine club that you can enjoy but we live tofar away to take advantage of it . Levi was great & super knowledgeable about the wines. But he needed some help as he was doing 3 tastings at once and also trying to help other tables, and seem a bit overwhelmed and just trying to give everyone a great experience, so we weren't upset. Someone did eventually jump in to finish our tasting. Dinner was delicious! Our table had the butternut squash ravioli, chicken saltimbocca, chicken Marsala, and the grouper and we all enjoyed our dishes. Portion sizes were great. Wine prices were higher than we're used to, but that reflects the more sophisticated experience and atmosphere. Overall, a good time was had by all. Having been a wine club member here for three years, I can attest to three things. 1) JW the owner knows his stuff. 2) The wines never disappoint, and the way that man gets the body and flavor out of NC grapes is amazing. 3) There seems to be no ceiling on the prices. Seriously. What used to be their flagship wines at $60-$65 at bottle are now some of their cheapest. I love them, but I have to admit I don't go as often as I used to or buy as many bottles beyond my wine club allotments. That said, everything sells out quickly, so prices don't seem to have hit equilibrium yet. One huge treat for club members is the Cuvée Experience, a four-course meal with five wines. The food and service just didn't meet our expectations. Our reservations were for 4 and we got there a few minutes early. Others came in after us with 4 o'clock reservations and got seated ahead of us. Not cool! We were told to dress business casual, so we did, expecting others to do the same. Not so, we saw sweat shirts, jeans, tennis shoes, ball caps, sweat pants and more. The food was good but we've had better. For the price and atmosphere, we expected higher quality service and food. We used to be premier wine club members at JOLO and always enjoyed our visits. The food has consistently been great, and the wine is good--especially for North Carolina wines. Unfortunately, the service has declined. During a recent lunch with out-of-town guests, our meals arrived nearly 20 minutes before theirs. We didn't want to be rude and eat without them, so by the time their food finally came, our shrimp was cold and our salad soggy. Our server was also difficult to find, which made the experience more frustrating. Afterward, we planned to use complimentary tasting certificates that had been given to us by a JOLO employee at a recent business event. We were surprised and disappointed to learn they had expired just two days earlier and would not be honored. At that point, we decided to leave. This experience, combined with several others we've had in the past, ultimately led us to discontinue our nearly $400-per-quarter membership. It has become increasingly difficult to justify continuing as patrons--or investing the kind of money we used to spend here. read more
