While this is fresh in my mind. I hope it was just an off night. Very slow starting service. Had to order drink and meal at the same time because it took at least 10 minutes to be addressed...after someone seated me. It is a wait to be seated place. No burger this night. Probably their best dish I suspect. I went with prime rib sandwhich. It was steak-um and cheese. If it wasn't, it should be...they'd save money and no one would notice. Fries were good. Vienna Lager was good too. Never asked if I wanted a refill on beer or water. A couple really funny things...never got utensils or a napkin...so I ate like I was 10 years old again. And the au jus came in a specimen cup. One dip and the bread sucked up all of it. I had 4 waiters and there was no one inside the place...maybe 5 tables seated outside. So I am not sure why the service was so slow and did not even ask if I needed anything. I suppose I had bad luck on an off night. read more

I picked up a salad to-go a few nights ago while traveling for work. I ordered the greens with candied pecans, gorgonzola cream, and steak as my protein. A male host was friendly greeting me at the host stand; he took my order, and I took a walk down to Target for a quick errand while the food was prepared. I came back in about 10 minutes. I waited about another 5-10 minutes for the salad to be ready. Took a somewhat long time IMO, the restaurant was only a little busy. (was about 8pm on a Sunday.) I think they were fulfilling Uber Eats orders or something. When I unwrapped it, the food was separately packaged so the greens didn't wilt, and I got to mix it all up myself. The steak was a generous roughly 8oz portion but I almost wanted more greens. Candied pecans and sliced dried apricots rounded out the meal. Overall was tasty. read more

Mac and Cheese was delicious. Burger was great, too. Pizza was larger than expected and also very good.

This place have great service , the bartender grant is very patient with us and Michael Love is the reason why we came. Oh yea wings bomb

Our work group went here for a function based on all the positive reviews--- thanks fellow Yelpers, you guys didn't disappoint! The patio seating was really cool, and the service was top-notch and attentive even as the bar got progressively busier. The pizza was great, and everyone in the group enjoyed the selection of appetizers. Definitely a strong option for any kind of casual event, but be sure to get here early as the place seems to fill up quick! read more

Honestly always great when I come here - the service and food! The server was amazing and very attentive. Suggested the short run hash for brunch. Was very delicious! Also enjoyed the $2 mimosas, very interesting flavors that were a bit on the sweet side but all made from scratch. Very yummy! read more

Barley Mac - Short Rib Hash - brunch! - Bars Near Me - Arlington, Virginia

Loved the ambiance of this place. I asked for a burger well done but not burnt. I don't care for any pink, just gray throughout, but it the outside was black, the inside dried out and too tough to eat. I opted for Mac and Cheese instead of fries and it was excellent. read more

Came in on a Tuesday night, despite the snow storm, and was pleasantly surprised. They just changed the menu and I ordered the new Short Rib Stroganoff while my husband ordered the chicken parm. Everything was filling, hearty, and super yummy. Service was also very warm and welcoming. Cocktails were also unique amd complimentary to our food. Will be back for sure!! read more

Decided to check this place out for dinner with my roommates because we live in the neighborhood. I wasn't familiar with the restaurant but had noticed it when walking by. We all really enjoyed our meals, and initially had a tough time choosing what to order. I had the scallop special which was delicious! I also had the sweet heat drink which was equally great. The service was superb, and everyone was really friendly. We will definitely be back to try some of their other dishes in the future! read more

Barley Mac - Dinner special- scallops over polenta, kale, and pancetta topped with truffles! So good - Bars Near Me - Arlington, Virginia

Last night was my first time going to this restaurant. I saw the reviews on Yelp before going and my expectations were high. I was not disappointed!!! My friend and I went and we had the absolute best server, Milos. He was super helpful in giving food and drink suggestions. Throughout the meal he was attentive and patient with us. We started off dinner with the Coccoli appetizer and it was amazing!! For the main dish I got a pizza and my friend got a salad. The portion sizes were perfect and our food was delicious! The atmosphere of the restaurant is very lively! We were also impressed that even though the restaurant was packed throughout the night we didn't have to wait long for our food. I would definitely recommend going here! read more

You wouldn't expect such fantastic taste and interesting flavors for someplace in Rosslyn. The food was superb- and a decent price for how well-crafted each entree was. The wagyu meatballs were delicate and full of taste. I could rant on and on and on about the pork chops and Brussel sprouts. Seriously, I know it sounds straightforward but it was so amazing. The short ribs were also exquisite- so much flavor! Highly recommend. The service was great and the seating outside was lovely. read more

Definitely a local hangout and great service! I'm a Texan and was totally impressed with their grilled pork chop. It was HUGE and grilled to perfection! The brussel sprouts were also amazing. Great outdoor and bar seating as well. Excellent DC area find. Will be back! read more

The food, cocktails, vibe, and service are all nice. The only problem is that it's too loud. Concrete floors and a lack of sound absorbing accoustic tiles makes for quite a din. If they could resolve that, it would be a huge improvement. read more

We got the truffle Mac and cheese and the coccoli as appetizers. The coccoli is delicious (wish we had more drizzle though) and the truffle Mac and cheese wasn't anything special to me. I ended up eating the salmon with rice, but I was expecting it to come with asparagus (per what the menu said it would come with) and it came with broccolini instead so that was disappointing. I wish the waitress had let me know when I ordered. But the actually salmon was delicious and the skin was crunchy so I really liked that. My friend got the salmon burger and he seemed to be happy with it. I would recommend this restaurant since it seems to have a good variety of food for everyone. read more

We did a big party outside at Barley Mac (with a reservation), and the manager Miloshe (sp.?) and his team were soooo incredibly gracious and wonderful! We had such a great time, thanks to them!! We cannot thank them enough actually. They have great drink and food specials for happy hour, and it is all delicious! Hector and Chloe served us and they could not be nicer or more professional; they really kept up with our big party! My fiancé and I met at Barley Mac - our first date was there with some Old-Fashions :) - and we are so grateful to them for helping us have this event there last night to celebrate our engagement. Thank you, thank you!! read more

Went for Happy Hour and had a delicious Mac and Cheese app w/ the Chicken Fried sandwich. Great new menu!

My experience here was just okay. The inside is very pretty and spacious. The drinks, especially mimosas, are very affordable. I got the breakfast gnocchi and it was okay. The pesto was tasty but my eggs weren't runny and the gnocchi's texture just wasn't quite right. The pasta would fall apart and it didn't have the pillow-like texture you would expect. Our server seemed very distracted. He made a mistake then forgot to bring my friend's correct dish the entire meal even though we mentioned it to multiple people. They ended until comping the meal which was nice. read more

What an absolute gorgeous restaurant! Milos, thank you for amazing first time experience at Marley Mac. Due to your exceptional service from A-town, I knew my guest and I were going to be taken care of. Thank you for helping and accommodating to my diary allergy and vegan diet. The avocado tacos were delicious! read more

Wonderful spot for happy hour!!! We sat outside on the patio the entire right side (if you're facing the street) allows happy hour specials! The service was awesome despite us being the only ones outside; we had a super sexy and attentive server (Milos?). We had the Whiskey Smash to drink (potent and so fucking refreshing), fried calamari, grilled wings, and beef meatballs. It was all to die for, especially the calamari which was crisp and served with two delectable sauces as it should be! Super chill vibe and music out on the patio. We'll gladly return here! read more

Nice place for lunch. Good service and food was great. Trout sandwich was delish as was the pizza.

The staff was super friendly. The drinks were great and the food was delicious, simply delicious. The atmosphere was fun and cozy.

Tried this place...waiter was nice but seemed new. Food was good but ordered a filet with a pizza and they never brought filet. I had to tell them to forget the filet...so not a good memorable dinner. I would suggest other restaurants over this as I think 3 Stars was too nice. Sorry. read more

Had the salmon and 3 star peppercorn saison; both were delicious. Salmon was cooked very well. Extremely impressed and would definitely come back. read more

I've been to Barley Mac multiple times especially for their amazing happy hour that goes from 3-7 and great service! Milos and Hector ALWAYS takes great care of us! We have brought in large parties, family dinners, corporate dinners and the service is consistently great. I brought in a few friends for happy hour last night bragging about how amazing the food is and how handsome the servers are. Unfortunately neither were there, but we decided to sit at a table in the bar area. First, the service wasn't that great, multiple times we had to go to the bar and asks for things. When looking for our servers, both were on their phones or were just chatting with each other. The worst part is that it wasn't busy! I'll be honest, I was a little embarrassed that I talk you all with such rave reviews and to come to a disappointment with my friends. If it wasn't for the food, this review would have gotten a 1 star. I hope that this isn't what Barley Mac is about, because I have never had a problem before, I feel management should know about the lack of service I received last night and I hope they do something about it. I plan to be back, but only if my two servers are there, JK, haha, the food is too good not to come back. read more

Great happy hour and appetizers to share. Everything was amazing especially the truffle Mac and cheese

I had heard about Barley Mac from friends, and, since I was in the Rosslyn area of Arlington for a couple of weeks, I made it a point to get there. My friend and I were meeting a couple of business associates for dinner, so, while we waited, we sat at the bar and enjoyed some of the happy hour drinks and appetizers. The potato skins were amazing, best I've had! A completely different presentation than the traditional skins. Our server, Bria, found us at the bar and led us over to our table. Bria is charming, efficient, and knowledgable - having her as our server made the whole experience truly upscale and five-star! If she were to leave (!), I would gladly follow her to her new restaurant, she's that good! Our guests arrived, and we ordered appetizers. The french onion soup was among the best I have ever had! Although there were some delays getting our entrees out to us (the manager came out and apologized), it was worth the wait! Bria did a great job selling us on the 'specials', and my shrimp were excellently prepared! All in all, a very pleasant experience! And, bonus, best collection of whiskys this side of the Potomac! read more

The food was pretty good here. The service was lacking. Which honestly wouldn't have bothered me at all but with COVID there's now a time limit on tables. Everything was reasonably priced and this is such a fun brunch spot! read more

We visit this restaurant regularly because it's basically walking distance from home. Awesome food! Great service! J totally recommend!

Burger was great. Well cooked, great flavor and exactly what you think a burger should be. 5 stars for that. I also ordered a beer. Beer was stale and just didn't taste right. Service was great and the waitresses hustled and was on top of everything. One thing of note, and I went on a Saturday morning, the bar just smelled like a college bar that wasn't cleaned well after a busy night. Only been there once, but wasn't wowed by it. read more

Amazing experience! Cannot wait to come back. My boyfriend and I went back to dine last night, Sept. 27, for an 8:30p reservation. Drinks: The drink menu was updated with summer cocktails, all of which looked thoughtful and creative. I selected Sugar & Spice #6, lured in by the peach and lime. The main note was jalapeño, but it had a smooth lime finish. The large peach slice that adorned the drink was also juicy and refreshing. I later had the Berry 75, which was tangy. The slightly scorched lemon peel that adorned the top of the flute was a clever way to keep the drink from becoming too citrusy, while still keeping the virtue of a true French 75. My boyfriend got the whiskey white sangria, which was smooth and refreshing. His manhattan was also done well. Food: There are too many good things to say about the coccoli. There's a reason why it's a best seller. My boyfriend had the special - NY strip with creamed potatoes, plum sauce on the side, and broccolini. The plum sauce was nice (tasting like general steak sauce with hints of plum), but not necessary. The steak shown on its own and was cooked as requested (medium rare). The real star of the dish was the potatoes, though. I had the pappardelle, which was great, too. Much like the plum sauce, the creamy sauce accompanying the pappardelle was not a huge necessity. The dish drew most of its flavor from the chicken (or pancetta), which seemed to have been smoked. Not a bad thing at all - very pleasant surprise! We also got a side of the mushrooms. I'm not sure if it was meant to come out lukewarm, but the dish was flavorful. We finished by sharing the bourbon apple crisp - the perfect end to the meal. The vanilla bean ice cream had subtle clove(?) flavors. The crust was moist and crumbly, and the apples were juicy, cooked to a perfect softness. I think there were bourbon notes in both the ice cream and glaze on the crisp, but no promises there. The sauces adorning the dish were also excellent. Service: very attentive and prompt! We were seated right away. Dining on the patio was excellent, absolutely recommend. The fall air was the perfect complement to the outdoor setting, which was might quieter than indoors. The music was pleasantly noticeable but subtle. Scott (one of the managers) stopped by after service and was SO pleasant. He asked detailed Qs about our experience (much more so than the standard "Hey how's your meal? Great!"). It's clear that they care so, so much about their patrons. Barley Mac has made a name for itself as the go-to spot in Rosslyn. After working out a few initial kicks, they have it 100000% together. I don't anticipate that the hype for Barley Mac will die down any time soon - it's a large, cool space, with a wide variety of dishes and fresh, innovative drinks. read more

Lousy service and loud environment Tried Barley Mac for the first time today. Ordered hot tea and they brought coffee. Ordered a Benedict and requested the hollandaise on the side - the entree arrived drowning in hollandaise sauce. The mimosas we ordered when we were seated didn't arrive until 5 minutes after the food. Bonus: There's no sound-reducing materials in the restaurant. It was so loud we could not hear what the other people at our four-top table were saying. Once and done! Never going back. read more

Loved this restaurant. Went here on a Saturday afternoon. Has the truffle mac and cheese and french onion soup apps. The mac and cheese was thick, gooey and soooo good. I'm not a huge fan of dry mac and cheese and this one was creamy and delicious! The french only soup was also good, but maybe needed a little more bread under the load of gooey cheese. My bf had steak and eggs and they were also cooked perfectly. The steak was so flavorful and truly medium rare (not overcooked). The eggs were runny just like we wanted. I had the chicken sandwich which was also tasty. Brunch drinks were reasonably priced at $3-4 for mimosas and bloody macs. Truly a comfort food menu. In retrospect, We liked the meal we had here more than the meal we had at (dare I say) Founding Farmers read more

On a cold and windy Tuesday night, my wife and I decided to skip President Trump's first State of the Union address and have a full dinner at Barley Mac instead. (We had previously only tried the desserts). Great choice! I ordered the Pan Roasted Trout. The trout itself was pretty good, but I was really impressed by side of barley salad, which stole the show and brought a lot of flavor into the dish. My wife had the squid ink linguini. She loved it. The pasta was delicious, the shrimp was very tender, and she liked that the sauce was just lightly spicy. For dessert, I recommend sticking with what Barley Mac does best (Italian food) and having the gelato. We ordered the brown butter gelato and were not disappointed. The entire evening, we got great service from Milos, who was attentive and explained all of the specials and substitutions. If Donald Trump or Joe Kennedy gave me a shout out in their speech that night, our dinner at Barley Mac would still have been the highlight of my evening. read more

Went this past Sunday for water brunch with our friends. We order the mac and cheese for appetizer and they were amazing, as well the chicken wings. At was a little pricey but the flavor was good, so I didn't mind it. Our server was very attentive, i know we were 10 people in a table and she might get confuse sometimes with the drinks orders but beside that it was a good service. The mimosas were great specially the passion fruit mimosa, I usually drink 2 or 3 but this were so good that I could not remember how many we had ;) ;). I order the chicken sandwich and was really good. They had a special sauce the piquillo pepper aioli and was really flavorful. My friend had the lobster club house and was good, cold, but good. Did I say I order chicken wings?? That bourbon maple drizzle in top of the wings was sooooooo good, I could just eat wings there all day. My friends order a man-mosa and it was good but the mix of vodka and wine wasn't my favorite. I totally recommend this place, just make sure you know exactly what you want so the service move quick. read more

Barley Mac is a go to happy hour for me. I am not a Whiskey drinker but their wine selection is pretty good! Also love the potato skins and Brussels.
