We did the 7 mile scenic float and I. An honestly say that they excelled at picking the most boring and then n scenic part of the river. My bad for not verifying the section of the river they were going on first. But they said Teton views, so I assumed it was a section we had done before. Total waste of money. Colin was an awesome guide. I'm pretty sure we went on one of the coldest days of the year but this company went above and beyond to make sure we were warm, Especially the Kids. Really nice staff, well organized, fun day. Driver/lunch caterer-Art was very friendly. Both guides for float and white water rafting trip (Justin and Keegan) knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic . Keegan was an equal opportunity dunker making sure we all got wet. We were up in Jackson Hole in July and the visitor center recommended this place for white water rafting. We purchased the trip over the phone for the next morning. When we arrived there was no parking in front of their shop but they were in a strip mall with other shops. We noticed alot of people parking in the bank area since it was a weekend so we proceeded to park there as well. When returning from our raft trip our car was gone and there were construction workers in the parking lot. We asked them what happened and where was our car. They informed us that they were paving the parking lot and notified all of the businesses to let their customers know not to park there. We went in to Barton and told them what happened and they told us it was not their problem. We were not the only ones who were towed from Barton. All of us asked to speak with a manager and we were told they would have to come down because they were at home and the owner was at home doing farm work. We proceeded to walk down the strip mall and ask the other companies if they notified their customers and they all stated of course we did because they didn't want their customers to get towed but Barton stated it was not their responsibility to inform us. They weren't even going to call for us and as far as us getting to the impound yard, they weren't going to help with that either but they finally agreed since we had no money, no phones or anything with us since we were on a rafting trip. 2 weeks later I went to San Diego and booked a Kayak trip. The company was so professional and in their email confirmation, they made sure to point out where we could park and where we couldn't or we would be towed. That's the right way to do business if your business does not provide sufficient parking. read more

Mac, our guide was very knowledgable and made this trip fun. We saw areas of the snake river we would have never seen on our own accord. It was an 8-mile journey of fun! attended a whitewater rafting trip with Barker-Ewing in early July with my boyfriend. It was my first time rafting, and I was definitely a bit nervous. The water was higher than normal this year, and so we were given an outstanding overview of what to do if you fall in the water, but I was really hoping I wouldn't! Well -- about halfway through the trip our raft almost flipped and I went in the water, along with two others. It was a bit scary at first, but honestly, I felt the response from Barker-Ewing was exceptional -- I was picked up and out of the water very quickly and felt I was safe and in good hands. It was an exhilarating trip and I would definitely raft again, with this company. I felt the guides were all very competent and knowledgeable, but also extremely relaxed and calm and knew what to do in the event of people falling in. If you are in Jackson Hole and deciding on a tour company, I highly highly recommend Barker-Ewing -- professionals who value safety and fun. read more

Great 2 hour raft trip down the Snake. Saw lots of wild life - mostly pointed out by the guide- and learned some fascinating facts about the geological and social history of the area. Must say that our guide Forrest was among the best I've had for excursions like this: competent skipper, informative but was never contrived or showy, and very intelligent, kind and generous. Recommend by Hotel Concierge for our party of 4. The water level wasn't high flow but was good for beginners (family) with level 1-2. Our guide Dean was very knowledgeable and said he did over 1000 trips over 5 years (he knows the Snake River). Midday trip was great with the warm sun contrasting the 60 degree water (no need for wet suit). You'll get wet in the front position but never in any danger. Three hour trip was just enough with some nice mountain views. Thanks again to Dean for making it special! read more

I would suggest this company over the others to raft because they charged less money for the same exact trip down the Snake river as the other companies offer. The river is a mix of medium sized rapids mixed in with periods of calm cruising that is perfect for families looking for adventure but still want to feel that it's safe for the children. They highly recommend that you rent wetsuits and if you don't, you're likely to be cold at the end but during the trip, even after jumping in the 47 degree water, it was not very cold while the sun was shining. So unless you really can't stand the cold a wetsuit probably isn't necessary unless it is an especially cold day or its raining. Once to get to the river they also give you a jacket for free to help keep the water out while you're on the river. What would have been nice though were water gloves because our hands did get cold and you want to be able to move your fingers around easily. At the office they were nonetheless very pushy about trying to get you to spend extra to rent the wetsuit. Also, make sure you bring a change of clothes to leave on the bus that you can change into when you get picked up because otherwise you'll be wet and uncomfortable for the ride back to town. All of the guides seemed very friendly, outgoing, and engaging and our guide JP was fun and knowledgeable, which further enhanced the trip. read more

This was recommended by a co-worker and was SPOT ON. Really together staff, they called to confirm the booking and were very accommodating. We did the first scenic ride, which was about 1.5 hours. I would definitely recommending this as it's much cooler than mid day (we went in July) and we saw a lot of wild life. The tour guide, Andrew, was friendly and very informative. The drive Tag was also friendly and funny. All around, this was a great experience, and something I'd recommend if you're visiting the area. They also have an overnight trip ($200 each) which might be cool to check out, we had already booked our hotel so didn't want to double pay for the night. read more

This outfit is the only place to book your rafting trip. Very professional, and lots and lots of fun. We did both the scenic float with breakfast (7:30am to 10:30am) and the white water rafting trip (10:30am to 1:30pm) combo. We met at the B.E. office at 7:00am as instructed, and the Jake the bus driver had us on the road at exactly at 7:30am for the boat launch. I was impressed with the organization. We met our Guide "J.P." at the boat, and he turned out to be exceptional. He was just the right balance of entertaining, funny and knowledgeable without making himself the center of the trip. We opted for the 14 person raft, but had only 11 for the first half scenic float. We saw Bald Eagles, Osprey (who we witnessed diving in to catch a fish) and river otters. We stopped for breakfast after the scenic portion and had some of the best pancakes, sausage and grits ever. For the white water portion of the trip, we had three additional people join us, but it never felt crowded on the raft (we had 3 kids and 3 young teens). We hit some class 2 and 3 rapids that were so much fun, but never felt unsafe. Great Job to J.P, Jake and the whole crew at Barker Ewing. read more
