We enjoyed a 2 hour horseback riding tour and Sadie was our guide. This is a family owned ranch that has been in the family for five generations. We rode up 2000 feet for incredible views in Bidger-Teton National Forest. The views were stunning and all of their horses are well taken care of and well trained. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend doing a tour with Mill Iron Ranch.

What an amazing experience! From the moment we arrived, we were met with kindness and hospitality. The process was smooth at check in. We were assigned our horses and taught exactly what to do, then we were on our way! Cody was a wonderful guide, explaining things about the region and taking us up a beautiful mountain path. My horse Pocahontas was very receptive to my leads and I felt very safe and was able to enjoy the ride and the incredible scenery. I highly recommend Mill Iron Ranch for your horseback riding in Jackson! Thank you so much for the wonderful experience and memories.

Family riding with spectacular views of mountains

Looked at a few but my wife spoke with Kim and reviews were great so we tried a 2 hour. Firat time riding in 30 years and Sadie and Isaiah were great. Gave us a refresher and the ranch was beautiful. A family owned ranch and it was a great time. Some of the trails going up mountain were narrow but glad we did it.

Beautiful ranch! Had a very kind tour guide and saw great Mountain Views. Would definitely come back!

Absolutely incredible experience here. We had David as our trail guide & our family had an unforgettable experience we will not soon forget at Mill Iron Ranch! The horses, the family that runs the ranch and everyone in between made us feel welcome and safe. The hospitality was unmatched. I would consider myself a first timer when it comes to horse riding and a ball of nerves but my horse Peanut Butter was patient with me up the mountain. If anyone is questioning their gumption for this adventure, don't! Just book it and go! Would love to return someday! The 2 hour ride was perfect and the dinner afterwards was delicious as well. Supporting a family run ranch is a must while visiting Jackson Hole. Thank you everyone at Mill Iron Ranch!

This is a MUST DO type of experience! My friend and I signed up for the 2 hour ride with dinner. I felt incredibly safe and the trails were nicely defined. The horses are very mellow and friendly. Mine (Peanut Butter) kept trying to eat everything in sight. The views are gorgeous and at the top, your guide stops to take pictures of you and your party. The views are breathtaking. And the dinner is phenomenal!! You get to choose how you like your steak cooked and it's prepared for you with a baked potato and other sides. I was very impressed by how many staff members were coming around to converse with guests, bring drinks, and make sure we're enjoying our meals. This was my favorite experience of my Jackson Hole trip!

Awesome trail ride and delicious dinner at the Mill Iron ranch. The views were stunning and pictures don't do them justice. The dinner in the barn after the ride was such a treat. Thank you for the great family fun day!

I read all of the reviews on TripAdvisor and the few on Yelp and decided to give this business a try for our horseback ride out west. Talked to Kim, she books the rides and runs things as far as I can tell. She's not rude as some of the reviews say, just a VERY busy lady that does not have time for the fluff-straight to the point. Signs everywhere state no one over 235 pounds. Understandably so, these horses are taking a person 2000 feet up a mountainside and 2000 feet down a mountainside. You would not believe how hard these animals work. We got there early, as we didn't know how construction would be, got checked in and paid, and then hung out and enjoyed the views. We took a two hour ride with an older gentleman as our guide. It. Was. Amazing!! We took our family of five, kids are 8, 9, and 14. They loved it as much or even more than my husband and I did. The views were out of this world. We made occasional stops along the way for pictures, to give the horses a rest, and to double check that saddles are still tight. The trails are narrow, rocky in spots, and are on edges at times. Not once did we lose faith in the ability of our guide or the horses ability to make the trip. The horses make one trip a day, so they are not overworked. We would highly recommend this business for your horseback riding experience. You will not regret it, but you may have trouble walking normal after you hop off your horse.

Wow!!! If you are looking for a great trail ride, you must do it with Mill Iron Ranch!!! We climbed 2000 miles in elevation and the view from the top of the mountain was insanely cool. Kim was so great in fitting us in due to a scheduling constraint. She is so warm and gracious. Our guide was Jon and he was so charming in the most Southern hospitable way. This was the major highlight of our too quick, two day trip to Jackson Hole. Honestly can not recommend them enough! Thank you Mill Iron Ranch for a great ride and for all the love your horses so obviously receive!!!

Couldn't have had a better experience. The horses are unbelievably well behaved. Having a new rider can get confusing for a horse but they listen so well and follow the guide. Our guide also was fanatic. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area and had an answer for every question we asked. The ride and ranch are stunning. We did the 2 hour ride which is perfect for beginners and casual sight seeing. I hope to go back for a sleigh ride!

In just a few weeks, I saw NUMEROUS clients get badly injured due to being bucked off stock, mocked by staff, and treated poorly. The employees are careless and don't pay attention to stock clients are put on, and, even worse, dangerous/ill mannered stock are kept around to be used on these high dollar outings without regard to client safety. Just this season, a client was refused a refund for a several thousand dollar UPCOMING hunt after being badly bucked off a horse and injuring his back in the backcountry on the Best of the West hunt he was currently on. Often after the clients were out of camp or hearing range, staff would mock them for their injuries, hunting abilities, or tip amounts. Numerous clients left hunts angry with their experiences, the poor staff and guide behaviors, and the careless attitude of the owner that refuses to make poor situations right. This is just the beginning. The racist sentiments displayed by the owner created a tense environment and I listened to the owner state that parts of Wyoming were overrun with 'slant-eyed motherfuckers' in reference to Asian people. All in all, this outfitting business is highly unprofessional, downright dangerous, and disrespectful to their clients. If you are spending money for an experience, I wouldn't recommend trying to get it here.

My girlfriend and I recently did a 2-day pack trip. While "Soda Peak Outfitters" sounds like a legitimate business, and their website looks professional, this is a one-man operation (Chuck). On our trip, he brought his 10-year-old son as the only other "employee." A 10-year-old is clearly not a substitute for a trained adult, and creates an obvious conflict of interest. We'll begin with the emergency situation with which the trip ended, but please note that this was not an isolated incident but rather the culmination of two days of sloppy disorganization. As we were getting ready to leave the campsite, with all of us finally on our horses (hours after we were supposed to be off the mountain, by the way), Chuck lost control of the mules, which started fighting and bolted. The horses all bolted too--we just managed to jump off at the last second without injury. Obviously, this sort of thing happens from time to time (though you might have expected some instruction on what to do, which we never received--or at least the OPTION to ride with a helmet, which we never had. I have never not had the option for a helmet on any other ride I've done, and I've done these sorts of rides on four continents). Chuck then immediately went down the mountain after the horses without a word to us--zero explanation, zero instruction. We were left alone, on foot, outside the campsite with all the stuff, including a trash bag with food scraps. Mind you, this is grizzly country, in Bridger-Teton National Forest, and we had been told that there was a mother with cubs in the area. Moreover, Chuck, who had abandoned us by the campsite with, again, no instruction or plan, had the only can of bear spray (and sat phone) on him, having never suggested that this was an item we were responsible for bringing ourselves. We felt that we had little choice at this point but hike out--which, of course, is not what we signed up to do, this being a horse pack trip. But we had no indication of when Chuck might come back, or what his plan was. And good thing we did! We caught up with Chuck at the bottom of a hill in a meadow, where he had found two of the horses and mounted, and he was going to try and catch the other horses. That is all he said; we told him we were walking out (on the same trail), and we never saw him again. Again, it was a good thing we decided to hike out, because the horses apparently had gone to the road and it took him until midnight to get the gear out. I can't imagine how dangerous it would have been for us to have been waiting by the gear that entire time--in the evening, in bear country, without bear spray, without cell service, by a pile of food scraps. As is, we managed to complete a difficult, long hike we had not signed up for at altitude without bear spray. Chuck never came to help us, nor even checked in to make sure we were OK. As mentioned, there were a lot of other issues on this trip. A quick, non-exhaustive sample: - Chuck forgot to bring a lighter, and spent all afternoon and evening trying to make a fire while we ate cold cuts in the rain - He changed the meeting location at the last minute without telling us, in an area with no cell service. We only managed to find him at all by a stranger with a sat phone - When we showed up at the new location (2 hrs late because of the location change) he still wasn't there - We didn't leave until 5-6 hours after the agreed meeting time, in part because Chuck had lost a saddle, while we were left to our own devices - It was all supposed to be worth it because the trail was supposed to lead to a cave we could go in, which Chuck never found To add insult to injury, Chuck has refused to refund us, which is obviously the least he can do. Clearly this was not the experience we've paid for. Again, I've done many rides on four continents, and this up there for the sloppiest experience I've ever had--find an alternative.
