Riding on the ridge. Beautiful views even when the Tetons are partially covered in rain clouds!
    David R.

Willow Creek Horseback Rides saved the day! We had reservations at another horseback riding group, but it had been raining off and on and the morning of our ride, that group cancelled our reservation though the raining had stopped for the most part. We didn't get the message until 1pm and were leaving early the next day, so our family of five was very disappointed that we weren't going to get to ride horses. I decided to take a chance and see if Willow Creek had any cancellations at the last minute, and to my surprise they made it happen for us. When we arrived we were amazed at how beautiful the whole area is there, and all of the staff were so friendly and helpful. They made us inexperienced riders feel right at home, and they took us on a 2+ hour ride which will be the highlight of our trip. Despite the rainy weather which unfortunately hid part of the amazing Teton views from the ridge, the views were still astounding, and the horses were all great. We are very grateful to Willow Creek for allowing us to ride that day! It was a memory none of us will ever forget. I highly recommend them to anyone wanting to do some horseback riding in the Jackson Hole area!

This is about as good as the scenery got on our ride.

We booked this 1-hour horseback trip for myself, my wife, and my 8-year-old son and did not think to check the price. Willow Creek is almost 3x what every other company in Wyoming charges, including their sister company just down the road. Our guide was Kendra, who was very nice but had just graduated from high school and only been on the job for 10 days. She barely talked at all so there was no context for what you are seeing or even any facts about the horses you are riding. Perhaps not her fault since she was new, but for this price, I expect much more from a guide. The guides in the nearby national park were much better, the scenery much nicer, and the price was ~1/3 as much. The trail she took us on did not have that much to see. The only advantage to this ride over the national park ride was we were able to use our cameras. In the end, we felt taken advantage of and it ruined my son's 8th birthday. Certainly, it was our fault for not asking the price ($435 for the 3 of us for a one-hour ride). Please don't make the same mistake that we did. There are much better options for horseback riding in the area.

Scenery and staff were great. Richard was the best guide. Great half day ride. Top notch adventure. Highly recommend. Ps: Mouse is the best horse out there. It's a completely impartial review and not because he was the horse i rode the whole day.

If you want a real western ride through breathtaking country and views of the Tetons, Willow Creek hits the jackpot. We drove a litte farther out of town so that we could enjoy the tranquility and rustic riding trails where you won't see another human or cross any city traffic. Richard was our wrangler who pointed out the wild life and took our family pictures with the Grand Tetons in the background dotted with purple and yellow flowers and ponds. My horse, Champagne, was a gem, as were all of our horses. The scenery is spectacular and the wranglers were friendly...we are definitely coming back here and recommend this to everyone visiting the Jackson area.

When I called to check out I was told the half-day charge was $695. That's 90% of the whole day charge! Now, this isn't my first rodeo. I've been fishing in Jackson for years, but this is much more than I expected for a half-day trip. But, I sucked it up....then Bruce, the guy on the phone starts complaining that my tip is too low. Really!? Not cool or appropriate. Well, I pay and I call Scott a couple of weeks later. He makes me feel like its my fault. Now, I know it's buyer beware, but, there was no sense of customer service or certainly any interest to have me use them again. Too bad, I really enjoyed Ryan, the guide. John B

Got our fishing licenses there the day before. It's an easy walk from anywhere downtown to the store. Brian our guide met us there for our fishing day. He was great, we drove out and then jumped in his truck for the remainder of the arrival. It was July so the area was beautiful, still a little snow on the Teton's. Didn't fly fish, but we reel fished the float trip and caught a ton of fish. Brian was knowledgable, professional and fun! He knew a ton about the area, and we really had the perfect day. Highly recommend.

BEST TOUR EVER!…read more First, we are not "tour" people. We like to travel on our own and rarely find a tour company that does what they say they will do. That said, we loved our tour with Teton Floats! We took the two day Yellowstone tour out of Jackson Wy. The company was fabulous to work with. Kilmeny Hall, one of the company owners and tour coordinator, handled everything from our reservations to lunch orders. She is a true professional gem and is so accommodating. She answered all of our questions, and made the whole booking process so easy. Our tour guide, John Putrino, was absolutely the best tour guide we have ever had anywhere! He is organized and efficient in everything we did for two days. He knows all there is to know about Yellowstone and surrounding areas. He has a great spotting scope which allowed us to see even those far away animals in the park. We were able to see many bison, bears, and even a wolf pack (eating a baby bison). We also saw elk, prong horns, and a moose! We were also able to see many birds, including Trumpeter Swans, Sandhill Cranes, various hawks, and ravens. John knows all the best places to look for and see animals, as well as terrific spots to have lunch. Lunch was provided both days and the sandwiches were delish (along with the chips, cookies and fruit). The tour includes waters, binoculars, and granola bars. The van is very comfortable and easy to get in and out of. We had bathroom breaks and rest stops whenever needed. The two day tour was amazing. Day one we saw all the geothermal features, including Old Faithful, and the Grand Prismatic Spring. John told us where to stand for the best views and led us around all the features with lots of interesting information. We spent the night in Pray Montana at the Chico Hot Springs Resort, which we would highly recommend. Great cabins and a nice restaurant with a more casual Saloon if you don't want a huge meal. Day two was focused on wildlife and waterfalls. We went to the Lamar Valley and other areas including Yellowstone Lake and the upper and lower Falls. We cannot say enough great things about Teton Floats two day Yellowstone Tour. John is the best and is so knowledgeable and thoughtful. A joy to spend two days with! We are definitely going to return and take this tour again! Don't miss it.

Our group included experienced fly fishers with their own gear as well as relative newbies and ALL were treated to just the right experience. The skilled casters were given tight targets that often yielded fish. The first timers were shown how to throw a dry and consistently put on fish, too. The guides had two in each boat and brought lunch for all. They provided rods, waders and flies, which they changed and tied on gladly and often. We fished the Wilson Bridge down to South Pass and Jenny Lake dam to Pacific Creek, two very different and very productive stretches. Neither was difficult fishing. Caught plenty of smaller fast water cutthroats on the lower section and big (BIG) cutthroats and whitefish on the crystal clear upper dam-fed section. Our group has a lot of experience and familiarity with fly fishing, and all of us thought the experience with Snake River Anglers was excellent -- true fly fishing advice and guiding for the advanced angler, and helpful tutoring and teaching to the newcomer. Never intimidating. Nor ever underwhelming. These guys got it going on. We fished dries, steamers and some nymphs on indicators in late April.

We fished yesterday and I made my displeasure clear several times on the water and off that we were here to catch fish not just take a pleasure rafting trip. I assume he either didn't tell the proprietor or they don't care as they've had yesterday afternoon/evening and all morning today to reach out (it's now noon the following day). Given the crickets, I'm now writing this review. Initially I spoke with Brian on the phone and he put me at ease as did their online reviews. After finding out that we wanted to catch fish and have views he recommended the Snake River for a full day session. Admittedly he said it was one of the final days for fishing the Snake as the water would be rising later this week, but that we would still be good. We shouldn't expect champion trophies as that was another river, but it would still be plenty of cutt-throat Troutt and a lot of fun with an insane view. Typically 2 out of 3 ain't bad, but given we were there for fish, the view and fun only equate to 1 Star. Admittedly we got 1 bite the entire 6+ hours and I reeled it in so we didn't get completely skunked, but I could have saved half the money and just done the scenic raft tour twice as that's effectively what we received. - 5 stars: fishing guide + 5 stars: equipment + 5 stars: views + 5 stars: fun on the river + 2 stars: education (based on expectation set by other reviews) We had Ian and he was a nice guy and overall we had a good trip with some laughs. I like the guy personally and other than catching fish, we had a great time on the river. However, he admitted at the beginning of the day that this was only his 3rd official outing this year on the Snake and later that he had never personally fished from the groups fishing holes. Neither are good signs as both caused alarm. He didn't know where the fish were biting and it seemed clear that this is not his normal fishing area. That's an absolute first for a fishing guide and not a good first. When you're paying this type of money for a fishing guide you should expect them to be intimately familiar with the water and be able to put you on fish. That was most definitely NOT the case. He clearly knows fly fishing and there definitely was some education, but nothing like what was described by other reviewers. I caught on almost immediately and received a few solid tips from him as he mainly focused on helping my wife. We're both first timers, but were quickly casting to specific areas he would point out and following whatever instruction he gave to improve our odds. I think he really tried to help us catch and even verbalized his frustration a few times at us getting skunked, but at the end of the day, it's his job and the reason we pay the hefty fee, for him to know all the honey holes and where the fish are biting today. Did I mention it was our 20th wedding anniversary and we chose to fish for the day? The Good: Ian is a nice guy who loves Fly Fishing They have good equipment and handle all the details They have a cool spot/camp off the river that's a great place to relax and have your lunch The Snake views are stunning In the first 5 minutes we saw a moose, a marmont and was almost boarded by a beaver The Bad: Doesn't know where to find fish on the Snake Doesn't fish this river enough to know where they are biting Isn't a fishing guide at least for this river Bottom line: if you don't care about catching fish and just want to have a good time with great views, then this is the school/guide for you.
