A group of five us fished for two days with Snake River Angler guides on the Snake River and had an incredible time. Our group included experienced fly fishers with their own gear as well as relative newbies and ALL were treated to just the right experience. The skilled casters were given tight targets that often yielded fish. The first timers were shown how to throw a dry and consistently put on fish, too. The guides had two in each boat and brought lunch for all. They provided rods, waders and flies, which they changed and tied on gladly and often. We fished the Wilson Bridge down to South Pass and Jenny Lake dam to Pacific Creek, two very different and very productive stretches. Neither was difficult fishing. Caught plenty of smaller fast water cutthroats on the lower section and big (BIG) cutthroats and whitefish on the crystal clear upper dam-fed section. Our group has a lot of experience and familiarity with fly fishing, and all of us thought the experience with Snake River Anglers was excellent -- true fly fishing advice and guiding for the advanced angler, and helpful tutoring and teaching to the newcomer. Never intimidating. Nor ever underwhelming. These guys got it going on. We fished dries, steamers and some nymphs on indicators in late April. read more

Wow. Great day on snake river. Our guide was Peter. He was so patient with us and so much fun. We enjoyed learning about fly fishing and saw river otters , bald eagles and even a moose. Absolutely great time. Only negative was lunch. For $600 plus trip they should have provided a nice shore lunch. We had sub sandwiches with some chips. Kind of hodgepodge of stuff. Other fishing tours I've been on actually cooked shore lunch. Fix that and I would give it 5 star. If your want a fun guide ask for Peter!! read more

We flew 1,600 miles from Atlanta, Georgia to fly fish specifically. Chris confirmed with our hotel that our reservation was booked. No one showed up the morning they were supposed to pick us up. Turns out Chris didn't even enter us into their system. It was such a let down and a waste of thousands of dollars on plane tickets and hotels. I would never use them again! read more

Wow this is the place for getting your fishing guide and their expertise in fishing items was very good. Our fishing line on our reels was a 3+ years old and we wanted to know if we should get them replaced and buy new line. They were very honest with us and told us we were ok and would not have any problem fishing with it for this year. I like honest people and also their expertise in recommending the fly's and lures that would be great for Snake River and they were very helpful. Next time were in Jackson, we'll use them again and also the guides they recommend are over the top. We used Peter Jobaun and he was great! Very knowable on the river, the history of Jackson fishing information. I can't speak for the other guides but Peter was excellent and I highly recommend him! read more

My friends and I did a float trip on Wednesday June 15th and we absolutely loved it. The 13 mile stretch of the river we were on was gorgeous with incredible mountain views and no other people on the river. Kylie was our guide and she is a naturalist who was both knowledgable and engaging. I didn't expect anything beyond having a few landmarks pointed out, but we ended up learning a lot about the area, its history, and the plants and wildlife. Also on our trip was Kylie's supervisor Scott who was also very knowledgable and personable and also great at pointing out and describing the birds and wildlife which was so much more interesting than I could have imagined. The float trip was relaxing without ever being boring, the boat was comfortable, and the guides made us feel safe without making us feel complacent about the possible dangers. We got lucky with the weather until the end, but once the rain started they had ponchos for us and it was no problem. We spent a week in Jackson with time spent hiking in Grand Teton and exploring Yellowstone, but the float trip was probably the most fun, interesting and memorable thing we did. Our group of three inexperienced fly fishers was split between two boats, given instructions, spit some trash talk on who would catch more and then floated away. My buddy and I took a half day fly fishing float down the Snake River yesterday. We had no experience fly fishing and our guide was great to show us the ropes beside the river before starting. He was very patient with us and helped us along the way giving us pointers. We put in at the Pritchard boat ramp and floated to the Elbow boat ramp on the Snake River. The guide did pick us up at our place in Teton Village, took us the the shop for liscences and flys. His equipment and gear was great. The guide was great to get us untangled and rig us up. He told us he had snacks and drinks. We caught a couple cutthroats and missed a few too. The ride down the river was excellent. The landscape and river was beautiful. We saw three bald eagles along the trip. We had to pry the snacks and drinks out of the guide. He finally anchored and shared some chips, licorice, and sodas with us. The guide was very knowledgable and knew the area well. When we were through. The guide put the poles away with our flys on them. I had to ask for our flys back. He acted like he forgot and was quick to hand them over. We tipped him well because he did do a great job. Don't get me wrong, everything was great and I would do this trip again in a heartbeat no questions asked. I can say one thing though pack your own lunch/snacks don't expect a five star or two star food on this trip. If I were this guide I would have packed sandwiches, a thermos of coffee, some sweets,and really done lunch up right. This is where the guide could have shined and received a better tip. Overall this is a great outfitter and guide and I would highly recommend them. read more

We didn't do a guide this year, but we rented equipment from the store to have our own fishing afternoon. The staff was great! Super friendly, as most people in Jackson are, but they talked us through all our options, tips on lures, good fishing locations, along with some other helpful local tips. When rushing back into town to get our equipment turned in, they kind told us not to rush and we could return the following day at no additional fee. We will definitely use them again on our next trip! read more

Unprofessional and disrespectful. Booked a fishing trip for a Friday, they scheduled the trip for a Sunday. Simple mistake, right? When we discovered the error the morning of the intended trip, they accepted no responsibility, and were initially refusing to refund our money. They tried to suggest we were canceling. My friend purchased his one day fishing license at the shop when we booked the trip. We pointed out that his license was for that Friday as evidence that we has not mistakenly requested the wrong day. Their response was "you don't need a trip to go out and fish", inferring we could still fish on our own, despite being out of $500. After a lengthy discussion with the manager via phone, and being put on hold, he had the audacity to respond; "I informed our guide that he'd lose a day's pay so we can refund your money". As if to suggest that it was our fault they messed up. read more

My wife and I went out on the Snake River at the end of May. Neither of us had ever been fly fishing. Had Joshua as our guide, and he was fantastic. Gave us an hour lesson before we started, explaining the basics of fly fishing and demonstrating how to 'strike' the line when we feel a hit. Then, we went out on the river. Joshua guided us the whole day, showing us where to cast, and manuvering the boat to find the right spots. As we got better at it, he became more hands-off, but he always knew just how much advice to give. In the end, the wife caught two fish (including a 17' brown trout!) and I caught one (but had three on the line!). We had a fantastic time. I would strongly recommend this company to anyone who has any interest in fishing. read more

This is a great tour and I appreciate guide's hard work and interesting stories but I'd advise to cut this trip to 2 hrs. It's a nice way of seeing animals but sitting in the raft for 4 hrs and not doing anything gets boring pretty fast. Overall, I'm happy I did it but won't do it again. read more

If you want the real deal, this is it. Will is the guide you want. Depending on the speed of the river, tours can fluctuate on time, ours took about 2 1/2. The scenery is world class and Will was knowledgeable in everything nature and national park related. A must do for a first time Jackson area visitor. read more

We went fly fishing. We are novices, but we caught on quickly. The problem was this: The guide took us to an over-fished section of the Snake River. We caught next to nothing in eight hours of fishing. We felt like the guide was more concerned about his fishing gear than catching fish. Also, bring your own food and beverages. A thermos of coffee would have been great! The guide had his own jug of water but little-to-nothing for us. Lunch was off-putting. I'm quite sure it was leftovers the guide grabbed from his refrigerator that morning. The hummus he brought had already been "snacked on" by his daughter. Turkey for three people was the equivalent of one Subway six inch sub. It's not hard to pack a good lunch. It would also make the clientele feel like the guide understands what you paid for the trip. Speaking of cost for the trip, why not throw in the cost of the flies in the $650 fee? I've never had to pay for tackle before. I would understand if they charged for excessive losses of tackle, but we only lost one fly! The guide offered interesting information about the area (e.g., bear stories), but some of it was later debunked. Strange. If I were to do it again I would insist on going to the best fishing spot they knew. I would also talk to the guide in advance about what he/she planned to bring in terms of food and beverage. read more

Did the snake river float w/ Dustin. He was an excellent guide who made the experience excellent. He was extremely knowledgable on wildlife, the area, flora and fauna, and everything in between. The float is very leisurely and relaxing. No helmets or paddling required by anybody on the trip. read more

I cannot say enough great things about this place! Came into town with my best friend and did a half day trip. As a new fly fisher we had boots as our guide. He was such an awesome guy. Taught us everything we needed to know and was very patient with two city girls who really didn't know what we were doing. We caught fish, had some laughs and a fabulous afternoon. Boots was so knowledgeable about the river and the sport so his place is great for all levels of fly fishers. I will definitely be back! Thanks so much for such a memorable experience!!! read more

One star for the mean guy behind the counter, would have given 4 for the guy who helped me but want people to know what type of customer service guys work here. So I expected to get great service at the store after the reviews but it seems I got the Good guy / Bad guy cop treatment. I walked in and found two young guys at the counter, one in front and one in back. When i asked if someone could help me with some flies for this area the young(bad) guy behind the counter asked where I was going . I said Turquoise lake. He made a face and said well you are not going to find many fish there. The other (good) said well maybe you never know. So I asked if maybe they could just tell me which ones I could buy to take in case. Bad guy just made more faces and Good guy said we will find you something. So this is were good guy gave me great service and helped me find a few flies. We had a bit of small talk and went to the counter. That's when bad guy ( who seemed angry for some reason at someone shopping and spending money for fish that might not exist) grabbed the flies so fast of the table one got hooked to his finger. He then rang it up and tossed the pen at me to sign. Let's just say this was not the Jackson Hole hospitality I expected especially from fishermen.
