It's clearly designed…read morefor community, and it would be great if you came here with a large group booking several rooms that were next to each other. The lodges are all single-story so you don't have to worry about other visitors making a lot of noise above you. Rather, you can get lodges adjacent to one another and enjoy the lot of lodges that'll be for you. Amenities. There's a large swimming pool in between the lodges. It's big enough to host a large group of people. There's a also very little concern for food. Considering how far away Grand Teton is from Jackson, it's nice that there are several cafeterias/restaurants above the visiting center. There are a variety of options and a coffee shop that opens up in the morning. There's also another lodge with a restaurant if you want something else to eat. The lodge is very well insulated. It was almost 80 degrees in the lodge by the time we woke up, but it was about 50 degrees outside when we woke up. We slept well, but it would have been nice if it was a bit cooler in the room we stayed in. The bathroom is a bit small, but it seemed fitting considering where we were.

We are in unit 361 with a beautiful view of Jackson Lake and the Grand Tetons. Accommodations are spartan but very comfortable. Everything works. Except the drain in the sink was slow. Minor issues. The place is huge and reminds one of a summer camp and has the feel of a ski lodge. The Lodge main house is nice with expansive views of the mountains and lake. There are a couple of nice restaurants a bar and touristy shoppes that had just about anything you needed. It is rustic. We have stayed in other National Parks, Denali for example, and this is quite similar but our room here has a better view than most. All staff are very friendly and accommodating. Housekeeping was a bit discombobulated. We were not told the rooms would be cleaned every other day we are here for three nights. When we came back from an 8 hour tour on day 2 our room was not cleaned and a fellow was just starting to do that. He was rushing and missed a few things which we needed to remind him of. The place should really be more diligent regarding this stuff. We are using the lodge as a base for our adventures in the area, wildlife spotting, river rafting and nature hikes. Some snow flurries came down. The Blue Heron bar and lounge was really nice. Jean Patrick and Shorty took great care of us each night. Martini's were well prepared and my Vesper was nicely done even though they could not find the Lillet Blanc the first night. We had a few meals at the restaurants. The breakfast in the Mural room was excellent. Service was good. Dinner was in the same place with our tour group a basic meal. Our third night we ate in the Mural again and it was excellent Bison and trout and elk bolognese. We had breakfast in the Pioneer room the next day. A retro diner 1955. Food was good service was great. Apparently all the staff come from somewhere else and work here for the summer months. Everyone is pleasant and simpatico. A nice place to stay at a National Park. He had great visuals and hands-on activities which simultaneously met the learning needs of an 8 year old, a 16 year old and 2 in-betweens. A few days later, while hiking, the kids conversed with a couple experienced fly fishers we met and the guys were impressed with what the kids had learned and could identify from just 2 hours of teaching.

We fished yesterday and I made my displeasure clear several times on the water and off that we were here to catch fish not just take a pleasure rafting trip. I assume he either didn't tell the proprietor or they don't care as they've had yesterday afternoon/evening and all morning today to reach out (it's now noon the following day). Given the crickets, I'm now writing this review. Initially I spoke with Brian on the phone and he put me at ease as did their online reviews. After finding out that we wanted to catch fish and have views he recommended the Snake River for a full day session. Admittedly he said it was one of the final days for fishing the Snake as the water would be rising later this week, but that we would still be good. We shouldn't expect champion trophies as that was another river, but it would still be plenty of cutt-throat Troutt and a lot of fun with an insane view. Typically 2 out of 3 ain't bad, but given we were there for fish, the view and fun only equate to 1 Star. Admittedly we got 1 bite the entire 6+ hours and I reeled it in so we didn't get completely skunked, but I could have saved half the money and just done the scenic raft tour twice as that's effectively what we received. - 5 stars: fishing guide + 5 stars: equipment + 5 stars: views + 5 stars: fun on the river + 2 stars: education (based on expectation set by other reviews) We had Ian and he was a nice guy and overall we had a good trip with some laughs. I like the guy personally and other than catching fish, we had a great time on the river. However, he admitted at the beginning of the day that this was only his 3rd official outing this year on the Snake and later that he had never personally fished from the groups fishing holes. Neither are good signs as both caused alarm. He didn't know where the fish were biting and it seemed clear that this is not his normal fishing area. That's an absolute first for a fishing guide and not a good first. When you're paying this type of money for a fishing guide you should expect them to be intimately familiar with the water and be able to put you on fish. That was most definitely NOT the case. He clearly knows fly fishing and there definitely was some education, but nothing like what was described by other reviewers. I caught on almost immediately and received a few solid tips from him as he mainly focused on helping my wife. We're both first timers, but were quickly casting to specific areas he would point out and following whatever instruction he gave to improve our odds. I think he really tried to help us catch and even verbalized his frustration a few times at us getting skunked, but at the end of the day, it's his job and the reason we pay the hefty fee, for him to know all the honey holes and where the fish are biting today. Did I mention it was our 20th wedding anniversary and we chose to fish for the day? The Good: Ian is a nice guy who loves Fly Fishing They have good equipment and handle all the details They have a cool spot/camp off the river that's a great place to relax and have your lunch The Snake views are stunning In the first 5 minutes we saw a moose, a marmont and was almost boarded by a beaver The Bad: Doesn't know where to find fish on the Snake Doesn't fish this river enough to know where they are biting Isn't a fishing guide at least for this river Bottom line: if you don't care about catching fish and just want to have a good time with great views, then this is the school/guide for you.

When I called to check out I was told the half-day charge was $695. That's 90% of the whole day charge! Now, this isn't my first rodeo. I've been fishing in Jackson for years, but this is much more than I expected for a half-day trip. But, I sucked it up....then Bruce, the guy on the phone starts complaining that my tip is too low. Really!? Not cool or appropriate. Well, I pay and I call Scott a couple of weeks later. He makes me feel like its my fault. Now, I know it's buyer beware, but, there was no sense of customer service or certainly any interest to have me use them again. Too bad, I really enjoyed Ryan, the guide. John B

Got our fishing licenses there the day before. It's an easy walk from anywhere downtown to the store. Brian our guide met us there for our fishing day. He was great, we drove out and then jumped in his truck for the remainder of the arrival. It was July so the area was beautiful, still a little snow on the Teton's. Didn't fly fish, but we reel fished the float trip and caught a ton of fish. Brian was knowledgable, professional and fun! He knew a ton about the area, and we really had the perfect day. Highly recommend.
