We loved this campground. It was my favorite out of the 3 we stayed at during our week long trip. It was so close to the lake and it was so hot out that we needed to get in the water! Stunning views of the Tetons! Easy access to get around with lots of amenities. Bathrooms and water spigots nearby. We really enjoyed our stay here. The amphitheater also hosts Ranger Led Programs each day and evening, we never made it to one, but it sounded cool.

Its not easy getting into a NP/State Park with a rig of our size. We booked this CG approx 6 months in advance. Most sites are gravel, ours was a mixture of mud/gravel, leaning more towards the mud side. Branches were trimmed and it allowed us to roll through with our 13'6" rig without scraping. TLDR; We'd stay here again, although, we'd likely stay closer to Jackson for amenities since you still have a pretty good drive to everything around Grand Teton. We never went North during our stay and always went south towards Jackson. Pro's: * Can't beat this location if you goal is to stay in the actual park. Walking distance to the visitor center, small grocery store, Jackson Lake, etc.... Unfortunately, most of the amenities were closed in May. * Long spot. Could have easily fit a 50-55' with an additional tow vehicle/toad. * Beautiful scenery all around. * Wildlife right outside and around the CG. Saw our first Grizzly! * Relatively clean & warm bathrooms * Staff cleaned and raked each spot upon moveout. * Starlink WORKS well should you have a clear line of site. We didn't with tons of tree's, but were still able to get enough bandwith to stream Netflix and MLB.tv With that said, we couldn't do simple things like posting to IG or FB. So, not sure how that worked. Con's: * No cell service of any kind (perhaps this is a Pro for some) * No wifi of any kind, unless near certain spots as outlined in the CG map/guide you get upon check-in. Although, we couldn't find these spots. * Muddy and VERY unlevel site. Not sure we saw a level spot. * Sewer connection was HIGHER than than where it exited our RV. Therefore, we only emptied Gray until we got to our next destination. * Expensive for what it is and at least a 30 minute drive to most area attraction/hikes/drives.

Cute little "village" area inside Grand Teton NP. Has 300+ camp sites for rv, tent, etc. Has several amenities: potable water and grey water dump station, recycling, fire-pit and bear box and picnic table at each site, Visitor Center, Marina (not in use this summer 2022 due to low water levels because of dam), laundry and shower facilities, restrooms in each camping loop, restaurant and pizzaria, general store (groceries and souvenirs and clothing etc), gas station with convenient store. Easy check in/out process. Staff has all be super nice! Our campsite was easy to find, trails everywhere to lead to Jackson Lake (less than 0.25miles from campsites). Beach is rocky, water is clear and cold (like swimmable but chilly). Lots of paddle boarding and kayakers. Has a loop trail out to a little island area. About 25 minutes from Grand Teton Mtn and other awesome lakes/trails throughout the whole area. Really impressed.

Great place to camp while in the Tetons. Was in a non generator loop, loop A, but had plenty of space and shade between the neighbors with our 20 foot travel trailer. In fact I took a stroll in the RV campground with hook ups and they were crammed in like sardines. No space whatsoever there. So if you're looking for a spot to camp, don't overlook this loop. The mosquitoes got slightly thick so bring a mosquito-tent screen thingy so you can eat at the picnic table without issue.

Colter Bay Campground had everything you could need at their General Store. The paid showers were nice and clean. The staff who worked the showers and laundry area, as well as the general store were very nice. Showers are $5 a piece or $15 for a family. We weren't able to get a reservations with hookups, but we still had a nice location. We arrived late, and the office was closed. I hesitated but called the after hours number to make sure we were doing the right thing, and the person who answered was kind and helpful. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We made last minute plans to spend one less night at Yellowstone and head to the Tetons. We called around and decided to head to Colter Bay. Jennifer who checked us in at the gate was so friendly and got us and our friends - also with a big Class A and Jeep - sites together. We thoroughly enjoyed the nice campground and hikes and short drive to Jackson Hole Wyoming. The General Store is great as well as the gift shop! Everyone was so friendly. In the gift shop the clerk (from Florida...wish I could remember his name) gave us a rundown on hikes and a driving tour. The young man in the general store helped me find distilled water for our rv battery. We will be back! Note: I considered knocking down to 4 stars only because while I favor having sites for the disabled I don't feel it's fair if they aren't booked us non-disabled can't use them.

A Place So Beautiful I Cried -- Again and Again…read more I'm not usually someone who cries on vacation. But on this trip? I cried. Repeatedly. Because Colter Bay was more beautiful, more peaceful, and more soul-filling than anything I expected. My husband and I came for a weekend on a friend's recommendation, and from the moment we arrived, I was overwhelmed. The cabins are rustic -- truly rustic -- with log walls, one bed, a small desk and chair, coffee, a simple bathroom, and an armoire. No TV, which was perfect for us, but worth noting if you're expecting one. Within minutes of checking in, we saw our first group of deer wandering between the cabins. And I cried. The cabins sit just steps from the marina, and the views of the Tetons are epic. Every direction looks like a postcard come to life. The kind of beauty that stops you in your tracks. And yes... I cried again. The Colter Bay restaurant is solid -- good food, reasonable prices, nothing fancy. My husband loved the game burgers. For something more upscale, we drove up to Jackson Lake Lodge and enjoyed a lovely dinner with stunning views. Colter Bay also has a wonderful, family-friendly beach with picnic tables and crystal-clear water. It's simple, peaceful, and absolutely spectacular. We loved it so much we booked two cabins for next year -- one for us, and one for our son's family of five. I already know I'm going to cry again the moment we arrive. If you're looking for a place where nature reaches straight into your chest and squeezes your heart (in the best way), this is it. Colter Bay is magic

At the last minute, I had tacked on an extra day and really wanted to do one night under the stars. So I booked a night here through Recreation.gov. Jenny Lake Campground is a really beautiful campground. The campground hosts were really nice and gave me lots of information about the area. I had limited gear because I flew in and they directed me to a couple spots where I could do some shopping for food and supplies. Jenny Lake Campground is a small 51 site campground that is a few hundred yards from the east shore of Jenny Lake. No trailers, campers, or generators are allowed. It is tent camping only which I loved because it made it so peaceful. Maximum per site is two tents, one vehicle, and six guests for up to seven nights. There are food storage lockers on hand because bear activity is frequent in this campground. I'm a big outdoorsman and really enjoyed my night camping here. It was nice and quiet and I had great views of the Grand Teton mountain range. It did get a little chilly overnight because it was raining when I arrived. But my overall experience was wonderful.

So dust off the old Kelty and prepare for a more primitive experience. No generators, no RV's, just tents. This is a very desired campground. Reservations are usually made well in advance. If you're flexible watch for cancelations. That's what we did. So one thing to be aware of is this is an area that is frequented by lots of wildlife. On our visit we saw deer and fox. But bears are around as well. So food must be kept in your vehicle or the provided metal storage box. Dishes are washed in camp and then you dump the dirty water and debris in the toilet. This is though if your are in one of the spots that's away from the single bathroom facility. Phone service is ok to poor to non existent depending on your carrier. I had an ATT phone and Verizon. Verizon is a no go. ATT had service in the campsites near the restroom. Most people (including myself), want to get away from the internet and phones. But if you need to be in contact for work or whatever plan ahead. Finally, this is a prime location in one of the more beautiful spots on earth. Staying here puts you right at the base of the Tetons and within walking distance of the Jenny Lake visitors center. Jackson is 30 min away and Yellowstone is 1.5 hrs or so. Sit back, relax and enjoy.

Sure, the mountains here don't captivate you with their granite-tipped titillation, and there aren't the glacial lakes that you'll be mesmerized by in Grand Teton National Park, nor will you mistake this area for the magnificent Wind River Mountains, the Bighorns, or the Snowy Range, but my oh my, Granite Creek is one pretty, pretty piece of nature. The USFS campground is one of the best I've found in the northern Rockies, with great sites overlooking the creek and sheltered by pines and awash in wildflowers from mid-June to August. The Granite Creek Falls are powerful to behold: not ethereal like Yosemite or awesome like Niagra or Multnomah, but what they lack in vertical elevation and volume they make up for in up-close-and-personal intimacy. You can literally dip your toes in the raging white torrents that fall from above into a creek that is so pure and clean that moose, elk, bear, and cranes simply love to stay here. You'll also find a superb CCC hot springs up the road, where you and your friends/family can soak in bliss while enjoying easy access to the Gros Ventre wilderness a mere mile or so up the main trail that follows the creek to its source. If you are in the Jackson Hole area, a side trip to Granite Creek - on dirt and gravel roads well maintained by the Forest Service - offers you another glance at Wyoming's wild lands that you won't find at Grand Teton. The falls are a great side trip, as are the hot springs, and the campground is well suited for car campers and RVers alike. All in all, this is a part of the Cowboy State that I never tire of seeing, season in, season out. Who needs to stay in Jackson for hundreds of bucks when affordable, adorable places like this are so close and enticing?

However, we underestimated the size of YS, and Lewis Lake was about an hour or more from other major attractions (Old Faithful, Mammoth, canyons and waterfalls), etc). The campground doesn't have showers, a dump station, strong cell signals, nor much open sun for solar panels. Place the bottom part on the marker and drop off some chairs to visibly reserve the site. Then, drive down to the entrance and fill out the rest of the slip with information and put exact cash in the envelope before dropping it in the mailbox. We arrived close to 8:45am on a Thursday and snagged one of the very last spots. It was a bit stressful if I'm being honest as you see other cars driving around and people running around trying to get a spot before you. We stayed at site A-74 which felt fairly private. The sites include a picnic table, fire pit, and bear box. I wouldn't recommend it if you have a large vehicle as parking was tight at this particular location. Also, the area to pitch your tent was on a slight hill. There are vault toilets nearby and a spigot for potable water close to the end of the A Loop. Note, there is no cell service in this area (which is pretty much true for most of the entire park). It is somewhat a far drive from most of the main attractions in the park, but a good spot if you're coming or going to Grand Teton.
