We decided to beat the crowd and arrived in time for one of the first boats that leaves the landing at 7 AM. Bring your parking pass if you have it otherwise there will be a charge just to access the area. Once you arrive at the boat landing, parking is free. From there you can either hike a portion of the lake and take the boat back, simply do a hike, or take a boat ride/hike, or just ride the boat! There is a charge for riding the boat with discounts available for kids and seniors. There are only facilities at the boat landing and once you leave you're on your own! You're constantly reminded that you are in bear country so bring some spray, bug repellent, sunscreen, plenty of water and snacks, as there are no amenities in the wilderness areas. Hikes and climbing opportunities exist however, for the more advanced area permits may be required so check before you leave with Park Rangers. We were very happy to have started early as when we returned by noon the landing was exceptionally crowded, and parking was nonexistent. There is shopping, some concessions, and beautiful area to explore just around the boat landing area. This is a fantastic stop, but again emphasize. Be here early! read more

It costs $35 to get into Grand Teton National Park and for an adult round trip ticket it was $20. We got there around 8am and still waited about 30 minutes to get on the boat. I recommend going early to beat the crowds. We had to wait in line on the way back as well because lots of people use this shuttle boat. The staff are really friendly and nice! We ended up doing the Cascade Canyon trail so we were happy to not have to walk the extra miles back on the trail. Bring plenty of water, hiking shoes, a hat, snacks, and bear spray if you are hiking Cascade Canyon or some of the longer hikes. Also, bring your camera to snap pictures of this beautiful place! We saw a moose lying down on a trail and a bear, although it was hidden in the brush so it was barely visible. read more

Took the boat across the lake at 7am for a brisk morning hike through hidden falls, inspiration point, and cascade canyon - 4 miles total with only 50 meters of hiking that scared a girl who is scared of heights. Jenny Lake Boating offers shuttle boats to the bottle of the trail to Inspiration Point and back. This is nice for people who don't want to hike the full trail from the Jenny Lake Visitor Center. Reservations are not required, but there is a fee. The ride over gives you beautiful views of the Teton mountain range as you cross the lake. Awesome!! Because we saw reviews of how busy it gets, we showed up right when they opened at 7am. It's $35 to get into Teton National Park. There was plenty of parking when we arrived. We noticed 98% of the people showing up were hikers taking the ferry across. There are no signs to tell you where to rent canoes. Follow the path towards the lake where the ferry boats are. They are the ones that also rent the canoes and kayaks. Staff were awesome! Easy process and very friendly. They did a great job on the safety info and checking our life vests. It's $25 per hour per boat. We opted for 2 canoes with one adult and one kid in each. Best part about going that early is how calm and quiet it is. You can hear the birds chirping and the water was glass. We were out there for about an hour and a half and only saw 3 other canoes on the lake. We stopped along the shore at a small beach area. Again the guys helping us with rentals were real nice and friendly. You guys rock! This was our highlight of the trip canoeing on Jenny lake with amazing views and photos. read more

I was on a short trip in the area and only had half a day to spend at Jenny Lake, do the hike to inspiration point, watch hidden falls and immerse in the breathtaking views of Tetons. The boat does go fast making it a very enjoyable ride. The cost was for round trip is $18. They offer one way tickets too if you want to come back walking through the trail. The staff was courteous and proper safety precautions were followed. While coming back, it was crowded and we had to wait for 30 mins. This review is strictly for the Jenny Lake Boat Shuttle service. Overall, the service was great (crew was nice and funny) and the wait was sufficient. My advice, get there early so you don't have to wait in long lines etc. It runs every 15-30 minutes. I believe there are 2 boats that go back and forth. We arrived early around 7:30-8am to take the shuttle to Hidden Falls/Inspiration Point. We did not want to hike the extra 2.3 miles. We parked at the lot (signs do show you where it is) and there are arrow signs pointing to the shuttle area. It's about a 5 min walk to the shuttle from the parking lot. There's two lines for the shuttle and the other cruise/boat rentals. Once you pay the RT, you get a stamp on your hand so the crew can see you've paid for both ways. We still had to wait after we paid for the RT amount ($20 RT/person), probably 20 minutes. After hiking, I'm glad we did the RT option. If you did not buy the round trip, you can still take the shuttle back, but they check your stamps so you just pay the $12 one way amount. Overall, I liked it and am glad that we took this way especially since we had a limited amount of time here. read more

If you are looking for a fast way to shuttle across Jenny Lake to hike the Tetons then this is it. We came late morning and were able to get on the second ferry. It's less than a 10 minute ride and you are ready to start your hike. For us, we went to the waterfall and then on to Inspiration Point. They have water coolers to refill your drink containers at the drop off point and the ferries run every 10 minutes. Keep in mind when you are ready to shuttle back over, 1-4 PM are your busiest times. We had about a 45 minute wait going back over. For those not wanting to hike they also offer a scenic boat tour of the area. This is a good option to check out the Tetons and still have a great photo opportunity without the challenges that hiking might present for some. read more

One of the easier, yet scenic hikes in the Tetons. Assuming there's no trail maintenance or detours, you can hike halfway around and take the boat back to where you started in an hour or less, depending on your level of experience. I've done this trek twice now and it is a gorgeous way to spend a sunny morning (get there early in the summertime to avoid crowds and the heat). Great views of the peaks, a little bit of nature, and you can watch park patrons enjoying the lake on canoes, kayaks, or paddle boarding. Taking the boat to the halfway point or back from the halfway point does have a fee, but it's nothing too crazy expensive and provides a cool breeze. The Jenny Lake Visitor Center is where to begin your Jenny Lake boating experience. Canoes, kayaks, paddle boarding and the ferry can all be accessed here. The Jenny Lake Visitor Center also has a store, it is the access point to various trail heads and the boat ferry. Some people choose to hike around the lake which is about a 7 mile hike while others choose to take the ferry($18 per/person round trip). The ferry drops you off on the other side of the lake. From that point two trail heads are available. One takes you to the Hidden Falls (1 mile back and forth). The other trail takes you to Inspiration Point which is another (1 mile back and forth). Because of the COVID-19, the ferries run on half capacity and wait lines exist. While the staff wore masks not all the hikers do and masks are not enforced. You can book the boat ride online on their easy to use website. The website will also tell you how many seats are left on the boat. The lake is crystal clear and the trails are beautiful. We did the 11am scenic tours. Travers was our guide and boat captain. The tour was basically going on somewhere on the late and then Travers tells you a story or two. Then he drives to another point on the lake and does the same thing. We made about four stops before headed back to the dock. Many of his stories were about his personal climbing and skiing in the Teton range. I would not sit under the cover of the boat as it would be difficult to see the Tetons. Overall a fine experience. We had my 84 year old father so our ability to do hiking on this trip was limited. It is a way to get out on the lake but if you are fit probably better uses of your time. We booked our ticket online the day before. Their website was easy to use and let you see how many seats were left on the boat per time slot. read more

I'll tell about our 2nd experience first: We had wanted to rent boats for our family of 4, all were taken and rented out, but no clue or information as to when they might return. I completely understand first come, first serve, but they expect you to just wait by their dock for who knows how long (they don't) until boats might come in. My suggestion would be to either reserve times and add a penalty for going over on the time or ask renters if they are planning to rent for 1, 2, 3 hours so you have an IDEA of when boats will be coming back.Here is my first interaction and why they got a low grade (the 2nd interaction pushed them down.) We visited Grand Tetons on a rainy morning, but from checking the forecast, saw a beautiful afternoon in the forecast. Because of this, we utilized their ferry to get to the other side of Jenny Lake to do some hiking. The price seemed fair for a family of 4 for a roundtrip boat experience. After hiking for less than 2 hours and paying attention to the weather, we returned to the dock for our return voyage. There were two boats docked, ~80 people (kids included) waiting to board, and the assumption from the guests was that they weren't doing return trips due to the weather. All of this is TOTALLY acceptable and understandable. From when we arrived, it had been a bit since the last visual lightning, so they boarded the two boats and had them make their return trip. Two new boats showed up, but another lightning clap nearby. Dock the boots. In all of this, no one from Jenny Lake Boat offered any type of information. How long the wait might be, what the storms looked like in the area (cell phone service is nil in the park), and just let us stand their to our own devices. Wind picked up, finally rain, and actual storms. We decided to skip just standing there and make the 2.3 mi hike back (which part of me believes the company actually wanted anyways--less people to ultimately have to shuttle back) in rain, hail, & lightning. No information provided the entire time and a complete lack of leadership and ownership. Beware if you take this boat, the weather can change quickly (not their fault) and they might leave you without information and stranded. (That part is their fault.) read more

Hidden Falls is easily the best waterfall in Grand Teton National Park. The falls are located on the western side of Jenny Lake in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. The shortest route to the falls is to hike around the southern part of Jenny Lake on the Jenny Lake trail. You can expect to see a wide variety of wildlife on the trail. We saw chipmunks, a coyote, several red-bellied marmots and a wide variety of colorful birds I couldn't name. The falls are listed at around 100 feet tall, but the cascades go on for miles and the sheer volume of water on the river tops anything you'll find outside of Yellowstone. A recent landslide wiped out the lower part of Jenny Lake trail that leads to the falls, so a new trail had to be cut into the side of the mountain. To bypass the landslide, the new trail adds a significant amount of elevation gain to the hike. However, the new trail also offers a birds eye view of the Lake. Most descriptions online put the hike at about 6 miles total roundtrip. We finished the hike in a little under 3 hours. You can shave 2 miles off the hike by taking the ferry across Jenny Lake. For more adventurous hikers, you can continue up the Cascade Canyon Trail to Lake Solitude. This hike is listed may places online as a daytrip, but at 19 miles round-trip up a mountain, I would highly recommend spending the night at the lake. Many people say that cascade canyon is the most beautiful area of the Tetons. Next time I'm in the area, I plan on camping at the lake myself. Jenny Lake is an amazing spot to get, but it is very competitive and popular. I would recommend getting there really early to get the best chance at a spot, since it is first-come, first-serve. There are no showers at this campsite, but there are showers within driving distance. The cheapest showers (for about $4-5 and unlimited hot shower) is about 30-40 minutes north. The bathrooms at Jenny Lake were quite clean and lit at night, which made me feel safer. Each campsite has a bear-proof box, but be careful because the lids are quite heavy! We felt safe knowing that they were heavy to open, so we knew our food and camping supplies would also be safe from bears. The hike at Jenny Lake is also amazing. I would recommend the boat ride if you aren't much of a hiker. read more

The owner and one of his employees came to get me saving me an arduous twilit trek all by myself. On the ride back he explained to me how all the other vendors in the park are owned by large businesses. Apparently his is the exception. Keen to support small business and thank him for saving my ass, I offered to pay him a premium on top of my already purchased ticket. Instead he declined the money and offered me a restaurant recommendation. Save yourself the two hours on the horse trail and give this excellent small business a try. Like others, I found Grand Teton National Park stunning. The ferry ride was very good - albeit a bit pricey - and the driver shared wise suggestions about how to behave with the wildlife and the land - much appreciated! What I didn't appreciate was the behavior of a couple of the young men who were staff members at the ferry. They keep a map of the United States with magnetic states like in grade school. Apparently they "lost" the state of California, and when they heard I was from that state, they laughed that it "seceded" and further, an "earthquake" had caused it to break off from the country. The comments seemed political and mean-spirited. I was offended. Such actions create division when we're all there to have a good time. They may not have even been conscious of how disrespectful their behavior was. Those boys don't know me or my politics, and as they were staff members, they made me feel unwelcome. read more

Wonderful campground but very difficult to find a spot! I like that it's a tent only spot, so no noisy trailers or motor homes around. Most spots have at least some privacy, and many have a great view of either the Teton Range or one of the many alpine meadows. Prices are reasonable and rangers/staff are super friendly and talkative. Lots to do (hiking, canoeing) and very close to Yellow Stone, Jackson Hole, and Mormon Row. If you do want to rent a boat, though, the prices are a bit high. Up to $75 /day for certain types of boats. Lots of deer and other adorable/beautiful wildlife wandering near and thru the campground, which are fun to watch! The one con is the presence of bears in the area. You have to be extremely careful about storing food, toiletries, soap, and disposing of dishwater. Can't even leave water bottles out over night.. Also, the ranger will come around every so often letting everyone know to get out their bear spray as a bear was spotted nearby. You always have to carry bear spray when walking around, just in case. This is certainly not for the faint of heart, but 100% worth it of you're down for an adventure. read more
