We did the snowmobile trip from the south entrance to Old Faithful. We were a large group and had three guides. Meaghan and Scarlet were terrific. Whatever you do be sure you don't get Anthony! Three negatives within the first 30 minutes of the trip. Will update if there's positive changes, if this review is not updated, the experience did not get better. For $600-850 a snow mobile, this outfit is greatly missing customer etiquette. We were told to be ready at 6am sharp. We wanted to confirm which side of the hotel pickup was, however neither the 1800 or 307 numbers work. We called repeatedly, text the 307 number, and had no idea if we'd been scammed until the coach showed up at 6:28. Showing up late with no working phone number was shocking for an outfit that demands logistics and communication at 6am. Once the coach showed up, I asked Jeff (guide) if there's any coffee since it's a 1+ hour ride to Yellowstone and coffee shops were not open. Scenic Safari's response? "You can die for an hour in the back." A bit rude, I ignored it. For comparison, the hotel shuttle that runs FOR FREEE has coffee and hot chocolate prepped in the van. No coffee on a $600-800 per person is one thing, but "You can die for an hour in the back," has ZERO customer etiquette. We get in the coach and the man has the lights on full blast over our heads. When asked to dim them since it's pitch black outside and the contrast painful to anyone with migraines, Jeff makes the remark "lights are going off because there's someone sensitive in the back." Zero basic customer etiquette. Just turn the light off. Everyone heard the request. Three strikes before the fist 30 minutes of the trip with 8 hours to go. read more

There was a snowstorm the day of our tour, which was obviously not something anyone could control. That said, snowstorms are somewhat expected in winter in Yellowstone, and it didn't seem to be handled well. Positives: It was cool to see (a little of) Yellowstone in the snow, for sure. The lunch sandwiches were tasty. Our guide was knowledgeable about the park and the local flora and fauna. We did see one bison up close when he decided to hang out in the road. Negatives: - We got to Flagg Ranch, where you transfer from bus to snowcoach, and had to wait around for well over an hour so all of the snowmobile groups could head out first, supposedly because they couldn't travel over the ruts from the snowcoach tires or something. If that's a known thing, pick us up later so we can sleep in and/or wait comfortably at the hotel. - Once we were out on the snow coach, we only stopped at Old Faithful and one other spot. Yes, the visibility was bad, but the other coach stopped at a geyser basin while we drove about 45 minutes up the road for no apparent reason and then turned around. We also could have spent more time walking around the basin where Old Faithful was, but we were all starving for lunch by that point. - Due to the weather, we literally could see almost nothing out the windows, so basically we spent the day sitting on buses. There were numerous points where I felt unsafe because the coach was sliding around, and the coach was not particularly comfortable. The bus we took to and from Flagg Ranch had a leaky window that blew snow and ice all over us for the entire ride both ways. Perhaps we would have had a better experience on a nicer day, and perhaps we had higher expectations than we should have - we were really excited for it. Instead, we were all miserable. read more

Where to start. The company Scenic Safaris was a pleasure to work with. From the moment I called, customer service was amazing. They walked me through what to expect on the trails, the cost, and just the overall process. They promised an amazing time. I was a bit skeptical but was ready for an adventure. We were quoted an amazing price for 2 rentals that fit 7 family members. Upon arrival we did the normal signatures and liability of the vehicles. Walking to the back you and your members will get fitted for helmets. Then what was awesome is that for an extra $50 you can get the vehicles extra dirty. It was worth every penny. I would have paid $100. It was sooo rad to hit 3 to 4 feet of mud. We almost got stuck but sooo rad. My suggestion is hit the trails and hit the mud. Get the added insurance just in case. You never know. So we were off and drove to the trails. One thing I recommend is to use all trails app and download the map of the area because we got a little lost and there was no cell service. So by having our map predownloaded it allowed us to find our trail. There was so much mud and snow and water that we got our vehicle super dirty. We got covered. We had a lot of fun. We would totally do it again and again. It was the best part of our trip to Yellowstone since we were there in the park when it was shut down due to flooding. Make sure you request to NOT have MICHAEL as your winter guide We read all the positive reviews about Scenic Safari's great guides, so we booked with them. The Company texted a link to us so that we could track the arrival of our coach. So we were surprised when our Winter Yellowstone snowcoach tour did not come for us at 6:15 am and did not call us or text us to say they would be late and that their link tracking the coach did not work, No one called us, we had to call them. Lady answering said that another driver had informed her Michael had not made his pick up, so she had to call Michael- "'he was having technical difficulties" & would be on his way BUT she couldn't tell us when or where Michael was because he had to failed to activate the coach tracking link. Michael, at age 58, admitted to some of the guests on our coach that he overslept - no apology. All the while, the rest of us all had to be awake and ready for our pick up time starting at 5:45am. The description said a tasty breakfast was included. DO NOT BELIEVE them. It is a poor quality white flour pre-package 7/11 muffin. Same thing goes for their included "snacks" on our 12 hour day: just Nature Valley granola bars, water, and beef jerky (which Michael chewed continuously while speaking.) Luckily, the good lunch was provided by another vendor within the park. Michael had made a poor start by being an hour late and not apologizing for it, but then he did not try to allay anyone's fears. He did not lay out the day for us, he did not explain what has happening and when it would happen. No explanation how long we would be at any one place, and what time to return to the coach. The first 45 minutes he complained about how cold the coach was. We were all dressed in many layers, it being winter. Guess who was not (maybe because he had to run out the door after oversleeping ? We've taken many tours, the latest one being the Red Jammers in Glacier National Park in August. That amazing guide shared the history of the parks, the historical landmarks, the wildlife, and great human interest stories. She learned all 12 passenger names within 30 minutes. Michael repeatedly asked our names or mixed up couples (only 8 guests total). The first point of interest Michael thought to share was" Here is where Gabby Petito died" At that point I asked Michael to please share some history of the majestic Yellowstone Park as we contemplated the winter views. Here is what Michael chose to tell us: Lewis & Clark were there, they hired Sacagaweja. and Lewis married her and later Lewis committed suicide. When passing the Black Diamond Pool in Biscuit Basin, Michael asked how many of us had seen the viral video about the explosion July 23, 2024. No one answered, so he got out his phone and brought up the video and played it on repeat. (Oh boy). On the way home, Michael told us how the governor of Montana was bad, and that wolves were good, and that ranchers were bad. This monologue was about 45 minutes long, with no one showing any interest. The next day we contacted the company we booked through: GET YOUR GUIDE to complain about the lack of a knowledgeable, personable guide, and that the guide was nearly an hour late. They promised to contact Scenic Safaris. Next morning, Steve Smith of Scenic Safaris contacted us to tell us this was Michael's first winter with their company and Michael was laid back. He said maybe we could come back to Yellowstone and book through them again. GET YOUR GUIDE was very surprised Steve Smith did not think our complaints were with merit. GET YOUR GUIDE apologized to us, offering a percentage refund for our disappointing guide. LESSON LEARNED: Book through GET YOUR GUIDE, they stand up for you when the provider lets you down. Our hotel had recommend TETON SCIENCE SCHOOL and we should have listened. If you end up booking with Scenic Safaris, even after reading about the terrors people experienced on some of the Scenic Safari's snowMOBILE tours, then INSIST you do not have the erstwhile Michael for your "guide" read more

We did the full day snowmobile to Old Faithful trip and it was a FULL day...picked up at 6am and dropped back off after 6pm. It was a great day of visiting the park and Old Faithful was far from the highlight (that part is actually rather anti-climactic). We visited multiple waterfalls, geysers, hot springs and other geo-thermic features. We probably spent about 4 hours of riding, so plenty of snowmobile time too. Joe was our guide and I HIGHLY recommend him! He was great about safety and teaching us responsible snowmobiling. I really felt safe with him. And he is super passionate and knowledgeable about Yellowstone and seemed to genuinely care that we were getting what we wanted out of the day. He even spotted a bison through the trees! Booked a Christmas Day Snowcoach Tour of Yellowstone/Old Faithful through our contact at Brushbuck Tours and am so glad we did. The ride up to the park was great, and our group was asking a lot of questions. As soon as we passed into the park, we saw a coyote! Once we arrived at the parking lot, we transferred from the van to Big Foot, another van hopped up on big snow tires. I'm glad we had this type of vehicle because we heard that the vans with snow treads are noisy. Surprisingly, the ride was smooth, and we felt safe inside. Our guides, Alex and Cooper, stopped multiple times to show us landscapes and waterfalls we would have never seen from the road. They educated us on the types of trees and plants and the animals we saw, including grouse, white-tailed deer, and bison. We saw a mama bison and her calf running along the side of the road, which made for a great photo! Was thrilled to see the lodgepole pine, spruce, and fir trees. They were also kind enough to make a coffee stop at one of the lodges, with was much appreciated! Just took a tour with Chris as our guide. It was a 6 am to 7pm, hotel pickup and drop-off, breakfast&lunch, and one of the most memorable experiences of my lifetime touring Yellowstone! No stone was left unturned and Chris made sure we got some of the most magical photos of the wildlife and nature in park. Chris was knowledgeable and paid close attention to everyone's needs. Our family of 3 did a private snowmobile tour of Yellowstone which was the only option they offered due to Covid. We had initial doubts about spending that kind if time and money on a snowmobile tour ( we are city / warm weather people) , but the tour was fantastic and Yellowstone is truly a magical place in the winter. Our goal was to see wildlife and our guide Cooper delivered, with close encounters with Bison (several) and coyotes ( freakishly close but awesome). We got an almost private viewing of Old Faithful which is amazing considering the crowds seen there in the summer. I have a philosophy that the measure of a company or people for that matter, is in what they do when things go wrong. We did have a mishap which was 100% our responsibility, and Cooper was amazing in handling it and taking care of us. My husband & I along with 3 other couples did the 3day/2night snowmobile tour through Yellowstone. Scenic Safaris did a great job with supplying all the gear for the trip and we were extremely happy with our guide, Christian. He was very laid back and so knowledgeable about the park. Any apprehension about cold, safety, or our novice experience with snowmobiles quickly disappeared with his directions, advice, & great personality! We saw plenty of wildlife & stopped often to see waterfalls, thermal eruptions, and to take photos. The overnight accommodations and meals were top notch and it was a great journey all around. This was HANDS DOWN one of the most fun things I've ever done. I won't lie, I was worried this tour wouldn't be worth its hefty price tag, but it definitely is! Scenic Safaris really takes care of everything you may need for the day. A shuttle picks you up from your hotel early in the AM and you're driven over to eat breakfast and gear up. The ranch we started out was nice and had anything we needed (balaclava and hand warmers!) The gear provided is more than enough so I wouldn't sweat that part! The ride itself was BREATHTAKING. We saw wildlife along the way and got up close and personal with Bison! Our guide Woolley was super chill and knowledgeable about the park and it's history. We did the full day snowmobile tour from Jackson to Old Faithful with three kids aged 12, 14, 16. Spectacular time and experience to see the park this empty and snow covered. Highly recommend as a bucket list adventure, albeit with the following tips and caveats: - Dress as warmly as you can. We wore our full ski gear under the snowmobile suits and were still not warm. It snowed and was high of 15 the day we went... and 35 mph on the snowmobile means lots of wind-chill. I don't think it's possible to dress too warmly for this. - Passengers will be colder than drivers, as they get less engine heat and are less active. Consider having more people drive if you have that option. - It was a 13 hour day for us, about 7 of which were outside. Just don't be surprised. - Given the cold and length, I would pass for most younger kids. My 12 year old loved it, but was quite cold and tired by day's end. HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP! My family had a reunion here at JH and decided to do a full-day tour with Scenic Safari. There were 12 of us so we had the whole van full to ourselves. Ryan picked us up right on time and proceeded to give us the best day of the vacation. Although the elk, deer, geothermal pools, fountain clay pots, waterfalls, old faithful, and other sights were all amazing, the best part of the trip was Ryan himself! He was a WEALTH of knowledge about the park, animals, and sights. He knew the best times to be at the sights and the best ways to get there. He would constantly point out animals on the side of the road that we hadn't even seen, and spotted a herd of deer 1000 yards away by their antlers sticking up from the tall grass. AMAZING! We had an awesome day of winter sightseeing in Yellowstone. The early pickup went smoothly and we were our way. The vans/trucks are very comfortable and designed perfectly to view the gorgeous winter landscape along the drive. We stopped on our way to Yellowstone for the morning sunrise looking at the Grand Tetons. Gorgeous! Our first stop in the National Park was Old Faithful and the timing was perfect to see the full geyser's eruption. After that we were able to complete the West Loop with so many incredible stops along the way which even included Yellowstone Canyon and Falls. We also were thrilled to see so much wildlife; Bison in abundance, coyotes, fox, pine marten. Katie was a fantastic driver and guide. She provided a breakfast, lunch and snacks and made many stops for the bathrooms. We were very comfortable and loved the total experience. This is a must do to see the unbelievable beauty of Yellowstone in the winter snow. read more

My wife and i had never ridden snowmobiles before and he was patient and thorough with explaining how the machines work, and we were in our way. We travelled all the way from Australia to visit Yellowstone. In advance, we booked a snowcoach shuttle from Flagg to Old Faithful Snow Lodge for February with Scenic Safaris. Scenic Safaris mistakenly booked us for our Feb dates in March, despite us communicating via email and phone that we wanted to book in for Feb. We only discovered this after arriving in Flagg, and Scenic Safaris accused us of making the error, and the Branch Manager refused to co-operate with us to find a compromise that would work. Due to this, we were unable to visit Yellowstone, and have wasted thousands of dollars in flights, accommodation, taxis and other travel costs. To date, we have had no resolution from Scenic Safaris, and no offer of alternative services, refunds or anything to make up from this ludicrously terrible experience. DO NOT BOOK. We had an outstanding experience with this tour company - we did two separate tours: one was a full day snowmobiling tour through Yellowstone and the other was a half day luxury motor coach tour through Grand Teton/Bridger Teton and the Elk Refuge. Booking online was a breeze and when we called to modify the time, that was also no problem. They gave us a small discount for booking both tours. The snowmobiling tour was intense. We went in the dead of January and it snowed heavily the entire day. Wet, heavy, sloppy snow. Our tour guide was upbeat and informative - turns out most people in these parts are in fact transplants and the majority moved out here to fly fish in the summer and do winter sports on the side! We were picked up from our hotel and driven to Flag Ranch, where we had a decent breakfast and were given all the gear we needed. You only need to wear base layers, they'll give you shoes, a snowmobile suit, helmet and gloves! Our team kept together well and managed to trek 40-50mph the entire day. It's about 90 miles round trip, so not for the unmotivated! We crossed the Continental Divide multiple times, saw Old Faithful blow, walked through iridescent hot springs and definitely felt connected to the park and its natural surroundings. What an experience! The half day wildlife tour was less exciting but still great - we saw elk, bison, rams and moose. Our guide was conversationally informative and very relaxed. Another transplanted fly fisher! Overall we felt that there was decent value for money with Scenic Safaris and we got the adventures of a lifetime. read more
