My pups went in here sooo furry and fluffy and came out with a nice clean cut, just what I asked for! The groomers are awesome and they listen to you. I was kind of nervous because my dog was super anxious and I was scared they wouldnt be able to work with her. But they went over the moon. They some how got a bow on her that I still havent been able to get back on her. Only reason I am giving 4/5 is because when I had called to get a price quote I was told $65 imagine the pain in my wallet when they said $80 at check out. I've had my dog washed there three times already. The first time was great. My dog hates to be bathe, but since he's 100 lbs, we can't quite do it in our bath tub. But he came out clean and he didn't shed that much after the bath. He wasn't too happy when we got him back, but he didn't seem troubled. He seemed okay and so we thought finally we found a place we could trust. The second time, it was okay. They couldn't completely dry him because apparently he didn't like them touching his paws. I think it's because when they cut his nails, they cut too close. I checked his nails and they weren't cleanly cut (rigged cuts). Maybe his nails are really big and so the nail cutter can't cut quite cleanly. So I figured okay no more nail cutting, I'm just going to get the vet to cut it. The third time was awful. The girl wasn't very patient with my dog, actually she handled him kind of rough. He's 1 years old. He's still a puppy who is afraid of baths. I told her he didn't like baths, and she just got more rough on him, pulling and literally about to drag him to the back if I hadn't come to help convince him to go to the back. She was tugging him and pulling him, and I really didn't appreciate how she handled him. But I figured maybe I was being really overprotective. So I trusted the previous times and left my dog in their care. They called and said he was ready. He was not ready. I came there and the girl was tugging on my dog, while talking to her coworker, seemingly unconcerned and trying to cut my dog's nails. Another girl was manning the desk and on her cell phone and seemed not to care about anything. I told her I didn't need them to cut my dog's nails, and got him out of there because I could tell that he couldn't stand to be there for another second. It was an awful sight to see this girl handling my dog that way. She did not seem like she liked dogs. Btw, I paid $20 extra for de-shedding and it was an AWFUL job. The lower part of his back was full of hair that they hadn't combed! I was combing off the shedded hair with my own freaking fingers and finding balls of hair hanging there on him. I was livid! Our whole living room now is filled with his hair that they were suppose to take care of. I am quite ANGRY. I don't think continuing to go to this place is going to make my dog any more comfortable with getting bathes. I actually think its making him horrified of getting them. I did not pay more than $80 to torture him. You can say I'm overprotective, but as an owner, you just know that there's something wrong with your dog. And I'm going to avoid places that don't seem to care about him and handle them the way she did this time. It's too soon if I never see her ever again. I feel sorry for any dog that ever comes across her. Sloppy job and horrible care. Can't get worst than that. read more

I have a Mini Goldendoodle and have struggled trying to find a reputable groomer who actually knows how to properly groom a doodle...until I found Barks 'N Bubbles. Ana does an excellent job grooming my doodle. She takes her time and is very thorough. The price is a bit steep compared to what other groomers may charge for doodles, but I think it is well worth it for the job that they do. It's a super cute place and near or home, I wish that I loved it. My only issue is the cut my dog got. I talked to the groomer extensively about how I wanted her cut and she just did not listen. I have taken my dog here 3 times hoping it would work out and they would get to know me and how I liked the dog cut, however I was disappointed each time. I would totally go back if they got new groomers that would do what I asked. I have a labradoodle and the groomer said "I hate it when labradoodle owners don't want their dog to be cut like a poodle" then she cut her too short and just like a poodle cut even though I specifically asked for just a trim. If I am paying that much money to get my dogs hair trimmed, they should just do what I ask not what they want. I will not be going back until they get a new groomer. read more

I take my pup here for the you-wash, which is basically where the owner washes their own dog, but can use all the tools and shampoos provided. I love this place because bathing my 40lb chow-collie mix at home is quite the chore to clean up after. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I have a (now 5 year old) 100lb brindle Bullmastiff named Laila that ADORES this place. We've been coming here for years, and even though we've moved to Alexandria I still drive up here to use them for everything from nail clippings, or ear cleaning, to full grooming. The girls all know Laila and are super excited to see her every time we come by as well. They also do a great job with the grooming (all aspects of it) for a very reasonable price - prices are listed on the wall when you walk in, and also their website I believe. I loved it there- I have been going for a little over a year now. Very clean and reasonably priced. BUT, I should of looked into the employees more. I did not pay attention to their "cat ate the canary grin" as they took my perfectly trained dogs each time we visited. I recently dropped off my dogs with the same rutine: drop them off and I am called when they are finished with their "spa." Only this time- I returned prior to being called....nobody saw/heard me come in- but who could hear me come in over a female groomer yelling at my dogs and a few others to "shut up" and "knock it off" ..... Are you kidding me?!?! I am sending my dogs...my family...to be screamed at like that?!? Why would ANYONE send their loved one to a horrific place like that? Love this place! The owner is delightful, as well as the staff! My pup is always a little scared when it's bath time, but they are all really kind and loving! They make sure to put notes in regarding your dogs special/preferred needs. My dog hates the blow driers, so they always make sure to towel dry her instead. I have taken her there about 4 times now, and they know her by name! Little details like this are what good customer service are made of. Price wise, very reasonable! I feel like it gets cheaper every time I go :). 20lb or less dog getting the Top Dog is about $45. Suggestions: *go over the weekend. Although it may be a little more crowded, they have more staff on hand and tend to do a better job. I went once during the week and there was only one girl working. She even needed my help at one point to hold my dog while she cut her nails and shampooed her..not my idea if full-service. My pup and I have had poor luck with finding a groomer. Between horrible trim jobs, cuts on his head, and split nails, I was very close to giving up. Took my mini Aussie in for a full grooming. They did a great job and he was very happy when I picked him up. He also had the extra shedding treatment and at least this first day seems like there is hardly any shedding. The place is very clean and seems well managed. NEVERY AGAIN!!! I was extremely hesitant about bringing my dog to a new groomer (moved from LA). I did a great deal of research and settled on Bark 'N Bubbles. Huge mistake. My dog's appointment was for Saturday, April 16th. When I showed up early, they had the incorrect time (I had confirmed date and time the day I made my appointment). So, they were booked solid Saturday and could not fit me in and told me the next appointment was Friday. I made an appointment a week in advance and because someone screwed up my appointment, I now have to wait another week?? This was my 1st clue that I should just walk away and never come back. They said they could try to fit my dog in their schedule on Sunday and that they would call me. Shortly after I left they called and said I could bring in my dog on Sunday at 11am. Great. Sunday we are there right at 11am. I had a picture and instructions on how I would like my 3 years old, 5 lbs Maltese groomed. All I wanted was a puppy cut. That is the most simple and basic cut. No way can anyone screw this up especially when I have provided a very clear picture, instructions, and had a discussion. I was informed this would take about 3 hours and they would call me we he was ready. By 2:30pm I still did not hear anything from them so I called. Twice. No one answered. 3pm I was at the shop. I figured he's been there since 11am, he should be done. Nope. They said he was given a bath and he is now dried but that's it. You've had my dog since 11am it is now 3pm and he only half way done?!?!! "Well, we do assembly line here. He was 3rd in line. We work on each pet a little at a time. We will need another 1 1/2 hours." Does that make sense???? Why not work on each pet from beginning to end? Then once they are done, start on the next one?? They gave him a bath and dried him, then left him in the cage for the entire day. He has never been locked up that long!!! Ever! I pick up my dog at 5pm. OMG. What the hell happened to my dog?? How did he go from adorable to an ugly mess?!?! He was completely butchered. His puppy cut was all jagged and completely uneven. It was as if someone wore blindfolds and took a pair of clippers to my dog. For $70 ($60 for grooming + $10 for tip), I could of bought a pair of clippers and groomed him myself. It will take months to grow out his puppy cut. My heart breaks every time I look at him because he looks awful and it's all my fault for taking him to Bark 'N Bubbles. If you feel like burning money and want your dog to look like a heinous mess then Bark 'N Bubbles is the place for you. Never again. read more

I make a 30-40 minute drive to this location JUST to have my dog groomed here. I haven't used the services to wash my dog myself, only the full grooming. Everyone does a fantastic job. My little one's haircut always gets tons of compliments, even weeks after the appointment. Grooming always takes a few hours of waiting no matter where you go, so I won't deduct points for that. Plus, the results are worth it! You won't go wrong no matter which groomer you pick (I think there are three ladies and we've had all of them). Thanks for the great job, Bark 'n Bubbles! read more

I have an apartment that is inhospitable to washing a dog in the tub so had to find a place with adequate room, drain, water hose etc and bark n bubbles checked all the boxes. I initially balked at the price for the "you wash"; 21 dollars and I have to wash my dog?? Well my girl is double coated and in the middle of a blow so after 20 minutes of brushing pre wash- three wash and rinses- the trash can and tub were COVERED in dog hair we even clogged the drain and now I understand where that price came from, not only the use of their products and brushes (Btw guys I think zoom grooms should be standard equipment esp. with double coated breeds :D ) but just the amount of clean up that comes afterwards makes that price a steal. The girls were great about creating conversation as I worked and giving my very sketchy shy dog space and even brought multiple extra towels as the blow dryer wasn't tolerated. Finally I managed to gunk up with damp hair no fewer than three bristle brushes getting yet more loose hair out and they took it in stride. My only qualm is about needing zoom grooms and that having a small/medium dog (26lbs at 13 inches) in those tubs puts my back at a terrible angle and 30 minutes in, it was on fire (the stands for the really little dogs put her up too high). It would be cool to have one or two elevated baths for bigger dogs in the next facility so we aren't 100% folding in half to get to the stubborn dog that won't turn to the other side. Anyways 100% recommend this place for all who need to wash their pooch outside of their home but want to do it themselves! read more

This is the first time I am actually writing a review. I made an appointment without reading review. HUGE mistake! When you see their web site, all sounds good. Guess what! Everything is extra here. They were asking me more than double the coast because the groomer needs 2hours for the service. I've been to different groomer over a year until he recently moved. He always took about 2hours never asking anything extra. In fact he always gave extra service for no charge (always end up tipping him so much more very happily) Someone wrote on her review here, she's been charged all kinds of extra stuff and the bill came out double! She was so right! What bothered me more was not her bad review it was the owner's snotty response! Someone told me when you read reviews go for bad reviews first and always check the owner's response because it will show what kind of customer service mind they have. I am sure we will be back. One thing that was interesting is our yorkie was doing alot of scooting, itching, and licking between her legs after the haircut. I have stopped here twice now to bathe my 5 month old puppy. Reading some of these reviews makes me wonder if we are talking about the same place. Perhaps it was because I was using a Groupon coupon but after showing me to the tub I would be using I had no further contact with the two girls that were working there. This 2nd visit they were each bathing a dog and watched as I worked on my pup but not once did they offer any friendly advice on how to calm him down or make his experience a little less stressful. You are provided with two rather small towels which do not quite cut it...my pup freaks out over the dryer so this time I left with him still quite wet and there was no offer of extra towels that I could use. I will go back because the concept is great but at least now I know what to expect and it is not what some of these reviewers have expressed. read more

This place is awesome. We have done the You Wash and the We Wash as well as grooming and have never had a bad experience. The employees are very friendly and seem to know the regulars very well. One time I brought my dogs in for a We Wash and they trimmed his nails first, which upset him badly and they were not able to give him a bath. The next time they remembered and did the bath before the nails and it turned out just fine. Becky is awesome and really loves animals. Very professional and very good service. I see some complaints about the prices, but for grooming services they are comparable to most other places we have been. This is also the DC metro area, one of the costliest places to live in the country. If you want a nail trim for $5 or someone to give your dog a bath and blow dry for an hour and a half for less than $30, I have a farm in Kansas available for sale..... read more

When I dropped him off, he was shaking with nerves, very apprehensive, but when I picked him up 2 1/2 hours later, he not only was handsomely and perfectly groomed, but he seemed very happy and relaxed! We love this place! The staff is very friendly and helpful and the experience has consistently been low stress for Honey the dog and fun for Mom and Dad. Whether 'we wash' or pay a little extra to have it done, we have never been disappointed. Honey hated the Petco experience (being dropped off for hours despite an appointment, kept in a crate when not being serviced, etc.) but she loves coming here. It is so convenient and easy. They don't have cages - rather little white picket fenced off areas for the dogs to hang out in. Of course the last time I left Honey they weren't busy so she got to hang out up front behind the desk for me to come back. She almost didn't want to leave. Clearly the staff loves dogs and enjoys their work. Highly recommended!! read more

At first I was a little hesitant taking my dogs to a do it yourself dog wash. After all, I figured that we do it at home in the tub and my dog gets clean. Well, I was wrong. This was so much easier. The tubs are huge and very safe for my dogs. The dog is secured to the tub so that she can't jump out before we are finished. I can also get to her from both sides of the tub. At home, that never happens and I end up wrestling with her to get her totally washed and rinsed. The blueberry facials are fantastic. They love the facial massage as I apply it. Even if they are to lick it, it's safe for them. The products are all tearless and safe for the dogs. My dogs both have some white fur patches. After a good bath at Barks and Bubbles, their fur is bright white. It sure doesn't get that way at home. After we are done clogging the sink stopper with all the hair that falls out and the dog shakes water all over the place, we get to use dryers to ensure that dogs are dry when they leave. Best part, we don't have to clean up afterwards. Oh and don't worry. If you have questions while you are bathing the dogs, the staff is always ready to help. They come over and help demonstrate the various tools and equipment. Also, it appears that they love dogs. I've never seen a staff member there that wasn't super nice to the dogs. They always try to help put the dogs at ease in a really stressful situation. If your dog is not a fan of baths, this is the place to go. You won't be sorry. read more

I went to Bark 'N Bubbles for the first time about a month ago. I had read great reviews and thought we would give it a shot. The staff was really nice and seemed to really make my dog feel comfortable. When I got back to pick up my dog, they mentioned that he was really well behaved and had no problems. Upon returning to our home, we started noticing blood on our furniture. Upon further investigation of my dog, I found that he had been cut four times. Two of them on his legs (not terrible knicks) and 1 on the tips of each ear. His ears had good sized chunks cut out of them and they didn't heal until about a week ago (four full weeks of scabbed up ears). I understand that a dog can move when getting a cut and knicks happen, but to not let the owner know or be aware of the cuts is a different story. We paid about 2 times the price for the cut when compared to when we went to Petco in Fairfax, and they didn't knick him once. If you want great customer service, go to Bark 'n Bubbles, but if you care about your pet, you might want to think otherwise. read more

HORRIBLE!!!!!!! I took my Pomeranian in to get a hair cut and the groomer said he was badly matted (which he wasn't). So i had them just wash him since I wasn't going to let them just cut all his hair off. They told me to come back in an hour and when I did he still wasn't done drying. When I finally got him back after 2 hours, he still wasn't dry. I brought it to their attention and they told me it was because they let him air dry. This must have been their first pet with a double coat, because a groomer should know that you cant just let a Pomeranian air dry. That's how they get matted...duh!!!!! I ended up going home and blow drying him myself. It was a waste of money and time. Never go there if you have a dog with 2 coats. You get what you pay for. I rather spend the money and actually get quality. If your in the fairfax area go to Town and Country Animal Hospital and Grooming. They're great and you'll leave happy read more

This was our first time here... They brought our bichon-poodle out to us completely scalped! They cut him way too short! It is all uneven, some places longer than others and one place barely clipped at all and in most places he is almost completely bald! They cut his nails WAY too short, as they were bleeding. The groomer clearly didn't take her time, and this cut is completely unacceptable! Especially after $70 for it! Completely over priced and overrated! read more
