I started taking my dogs to this location a few months ago after my in-home groomer was not available to come to our house anymore. I was very nervous because my dogs are very anxious. My oldest had a bad experience at a prior groomer, and the other two are rescues from the meat markets in China and are very sensitive to noise. When I take them to get groomed at this place, although they are anxious and hyper, we are constantly encountered by very patient, friendly, and welcoming staff. When I pick them up, they are still hyper, but they look happy and comfortable. They also do a tremendous job with their grooming, haircut, and cleaning in general. I've been bringing my sweet girl Bella to Dunia for grooming for nearly 11 years, and I honestly can't believe I haven't written a review until now. Reviews may be more common these days than they were a decade ago, but that's no excuse--Dunia has been such a consistent, important part of Bella's life, and she absolutely deserves the recognition. Dunia is amazing at what she does. She always gets Bella's groom just right, and Bella is always happy and relaxed when I pick her up--which wasn't the case before we found Dunia. In fact, even when I lived in North Carolina, I would plan Bella's grooms around trips back to Virginia because no one else came close. The difference in how Bella felt after other groomers versus with Dunia was night and day. On top of that, the entire staff here is always warm, kind, and professional. I have taken both my short haired dogs here, mainly for nail trims however recently for baths. The gentlemen who gave my first dog a bath did a good job and Chloe was clean. I called to book my second dog who is dog aggressive and asked if they could open early, happy to pay an additional fee as I am pregnant and unable to lift a 50lb dog in and out of the bath, and instead the woman who answered the phone - hailey suggested booking at 9:30 as "no one else would be there" - flash forward to our appointment there were in fact 3 other dogs there and no way to ensure safety so we had to walk out. The owner apologized but was not really that vested in making good on the services we booked. AND hailey argued with me to say she didn't say what she actually did. If you have a dog without special needs - this place is adequate. If you require any additional support - I would encourage you look elsewhere. They don't seem to care about ALL dogs only select ones. My MIL also planned to book here based on my review of today's service. So they lost my business and hers. read more

I wash my own dog there and it's great! The water pressure is way better and leaving the dog hair behind is amazing! They are really kind and helpful. It's hard because they don't take walk ins but at the same time it's not first-come-first-served so you aren't driving there with your dog just to find an hour long line. They provide the soap, towels, and even brushes, which is great. I have never needed the extra services but it's great for a basic bath and not needing to wipe down my bathroom walls after! read more

My usual groomer was unavailable for some time due to COVID so I stumbled across this place given its great Yelp reviews and distance from my house. They were easy to make an appointment with and prices were on board with most other places. The staff was very nice and showed they took care of my dog from drop off to pick up. The drop in stars comes from the service itself. It usually takes about 1-1.5 hours for my BostonT to get groomed, but they were able to perform their top package with all bells and whistles in about 40 minutes, which seemed too fast. Upon inspection after picking him up, seemed like there were areas that weren't cleaned well on his coat (some fuck shown in the picture), as well as crust around his eyes (which I thought the blueberry facial would have taken care of). His nails were clipped, but doesn't seem like they were filed and we're still quite sharp. Overall, the place is nice and the staff is great, the service isn't quite there esp for the price. I expected a fluffy fresh dog, but got back the same dog with a little fresh scent added. read more

I've come here a few times and was initially pretty pleased. I use the "we wash" grooming service for my Great Dane, Atlas and it usually takes about an hour and a half. This last time I dropped him off, ran some errands then picked him up after the usual amount of time upon receiving a text he was ready. The first thing that really bothered me about this visit is I waited ten minutes, making eye contact several times with groomers in the back, before I was even acknowledged. Then, when my dog was brought to me he was being choked out on a random rope leash instead of his halti. The girl walking him handed me his halti and said, "I didn't know how to work this". I had a hard time untangling the cluster she turned his face harness into because she tightened all the straps and then tied two in a knot when there's a clip that clips those two pieces together. In my opinion, ask for help or leave it alone, so I'm not stuck untying your mess, but maybe that's just me. The next issue I have is that my dog doesn't really SMELL clean. Normally he smells like the groomer, and doesn't shed for at least a day or two. After an hour and a half and $90 he doesn't really smell clean and he's been shedding like mad, leaving me to believe he wasn't washed or wasn't washed well. My last issue is that I was charged $75 (+ tip) then an hour later I received a call that I was undercharged by $10 and I needed to pay over the phone. Considering how much I spent, this seems really petty to call someone and harass them for $10 when your employee error lead to the price issue. (They didn't list the services before the charge OR even offer a receipt so there was no way for me to know what the charges were for or that they were wrong). I'm only giving two stars because they do have the tubs that you can wash your dog yourself and those are pretty nice, if you don't have the space to wash your pup at home. Other than that, I would not recommend coming here for the grooming service as they nickel and dime you for services they don't even seem to complete. read more

He is gentle with her, understands her limitations physically and potential anxiety and treats her with kindness and care. He uses his obviously extensive experience to ensure she is happy and calm. The owner called me back today and argued with me that this isn't how it happened and that they didn't keep us waiting that long. Her attitude toward a paying customer was not professional and we won't be going back there. I don't recommend this place because of the owner's attitude toward people who wash their dog rather than using the grooming service. I bring my Yorkie, Tanleigh, every few months for a groom. Dunia is my favorite groomer. I'm a bit picky with his haircut, and she nails it every time! She is also very friendly and makes it easy to explain what I want. My dog has bad knees and hips, and he isn't as scared when I bring him here. (I've tried MANY other places) Front desk people are usually pretty nice, but have been short with me before. The picture attached with this review is several days after his haircut (still sharp though!) -The ONLY con I will add is that if I'm not very specific every time, then his haircut starts to change a little bit. STAY AWAY! i went to this place because of the good reviews in yelp BUT I REGRET this decision. after my dog was groomed, the groomer handed my dog to me, and i saw fleas crawling on his back. my dog NEVER had fleas in his lifetime! they said the fleas probably came from the vet center that's beside them. it is STILL not an excuse because they should have a flea control protocol at least on the exterior of their property! they did wash him again with flea shampoo and then told me the ticks were gone. but no! when i got home, i saw more fleas crawling on him! i am VERY VERY upset! I had to ask for a refund! they should have just offered a refund to start with and i did not have to ask for it! HOWEVER, that refund is not enough considering the damages it cost us. I had to bring my dog to the vet. i had to bring him to another groomer to get shampooed! he now lost some hair from the fleas! i have been paying hundreds of dollars on flea spray, fogger and now i have to hire a pest control for our house due to their mismanagement. i am VERY frustrated. stay away for the sake of your dog! if u already go here, please check your dog for fleas because u will never know until you check!! read more

This is our first time here since we just moved to the area. This place is wonderful. Friendly staffs and polite patrons. We did the DIY dog bath and it was great. The facility is clean and spacious. At the wash station, they provide some little treats for dog, shampoo, conditioner, tearless, 2 medium size towels, aprons, blow dryer, and different types of brush, etc. My husband and I really like it. Staff (I forgot her name. If her boss is reading this, she is the one with long hair who work today, Sunday 6/10/18) was really nice on the phone and in person. Not just for dogs !! We brought our long haired cat to get groomed a couple of weeks ago. We were extremely nervous because the first time we took him to get groomed at the vet, ended up being a disaster. He's a good cat and loves water and vibrating noises, so we were hoping he'd do okay. When we picked him up, he was happily sitting behind the counter in this carrier. The staff said he did great. Made an appointment for my dog to be dropped off at 1130, met with the manager who was really friendly , emailed the vaccines and filled out some paperwork. Brought my dog back to meet the groomer .. she yelled over the other groomers of what I wanted .. now I wanted his hair cut etc :: honestly I don't take my dog to the groomer often it's expensive and with a toddler it's hard to get to.. i told her just shorter .. good for the summer . She kept asking me how much .. which bothered me because honestly I don't know .. finally I left hoping she will give a good haircut .. on the way out I asked the groomer how long it would take and she said 3 pm I planned my day around picking my dog up at 3pm.. Came back and they hadn't even starting working on my dog.. the groomer said 3pm APPROX. and she would give a call once he was done. 4pm rolled around and my husband went to check on him. They still didn't start on him .. at that point I was ready to just take him ..but she started working on him then and there and took maybe 15-20 min .. poor dog was sitting in his cage for no reason all day. I was disappointed at the lack of communication of when he was going to be ready and missed my sons activity for the afternoon. Plus the groomer was quite rude from beginning to end .. I used to come here for the do it yourself bath but after this experience i find myself sighing over and over about it. I love this place so much that I drive all the way in from DC! Sam our English Springer Spaniel gets groomed here and we also regularly was our hound mix Buford here too. Buford is fussy and nervous about getting his nails trimmed and they do an incredible job of keeping him calm and reassured while they trim his nails. Sam always gets an A plus grooming. Customer service is excellent and we love this gem of a facility. Coming in post Covid was seamless. You call ahead to make an appointment for a self-wash and they have everything you need right at your tub waiting for you. I can't recommend this place enough! I like this place. My dog is a timid dog. He doesn't understand that he is a dog. I think he thinks he is a person. As a result, situations where he is around other dogs it stress him out a bit. He doesn't urinate on the floor, thank god, but he more tries to escape. It breaks my heart. I love him. It's not his fault that we really didn't socialize him too much. My mom's Yorkies even boss him around. Sigh. When we first arrived, another family washing their German Shepard got loose and scared my dog. As a result, I asked if I could stay with my dog to help alleviate any anxiety that he might have. Thankfully, the staff member didn't take any issue with my request and allowed me to. I booked a "We Wash" service for my Goldendoodle. The we wash service includes: Choice of Shampoo, Creme Rinse, Brush Out, Towel or Blow Drying, Pad Balm and Ear Cleaning As other Yelpers commented, I felt that the facility was extremely clean and the staff member I dealt with was compassionate. What has limited the 5 star rating: -This location is not open on Mondays -Clients are not able to book appointments online -The staff member skipped the pad balm and the ear cleaning too on my doggie. I only realized/noticed this afterwards, and believe that it was an honest mistake. read more

Bark 'N Bubbles is a fairly new, do-it-yourself dog grooming business right off of Lee Highway in Fairfax. However, the store also provides full service grooming if you'd prefer. They also stock some natural treats, toys, and other products for your pet at the front of the store. I brought my dog in to get his nails trimmed as I have the scars to prove that I can't do it on my own. The groomer there took my dog back and showed me how to hold him while she took care of his nails. Next time I try to do this at home, I think the wife and I will be a bit more successful with those tips. The staff at Bark 'N Bubbles also told me that they would be offering obedience classes in the future, as well as some directed training for dogs with specific problems (like my dog, who wants to jump on everyone). I walked out with a new toy for my dog, some treats, the nail trimming, and I didn't feel like I was raked over the coals. The people there know what they are doing, and are extremely patient with all of the animals that come in (including my insane dog). After I left I received a call from the store saying that the treats I bought were on sale and they noticed that they had charged me too much. The woman who called me apologized and said that they refunded the difference to my card as soon as they noticed. It was only a few dollars, so I didn't really care about the money, but the fact that they went out of their way to apologize for their error and correct it right away is refreshing nowadays. 4 Stars - Only deduction for being closed on Mondays. This is my second time taking my mini poodle here, the first time it was great I talked to her groomer before and she knew my dog was scared and to be gentle and patient with her. She did such a great job my dog looked great and my dog seemed to love it. I made an appoint after covid 19 and requested the same groomer as before as well as the same service. When we got there I didn't see the groomer, and the reception lady just took my dog and didn't even ask how I wanted her to be cut or anything. So I brought it up, but was rushed(drizzy was spayed about a month ago n they had shaved her left paw so I wanted herfur to be cut so it would all look even) . When I went to pick up my dog(drizzy) I saw that it was a different groomer and that she had cut drizzy under her arm, she also pointed out she had a patch that was uneven and asked if she had been cut before, which seemed odd because her hair use to be really long and we have never seen anything like this before. When we got home I further inspected her and noticed her other armpit was also cut which was never mentioned,inside her ear there was a cut as well, I also noticed that a lot of her fur had uneven patches. And they didn't even cut her how I asked as you can still notice the different length in her paw fur and the rest of her body. My dog has also been having diarrhea ever since she got back from there. She didn't get a bow or a little scarf and I know the world is going thru rough times but you would think after being closed for weeks that they will do a extraordinarily job to keep customers happy and specially the furry ones. I don't appreciate having a different groomer then the one I specially requested and then it felt like the groomer she got was rushed and not patient with my drizzy. I dont think I will feel safe taking her there again, and wouldn't recommend anyone else either specially for the price which I don't mind paying if my dog is going to get the proper treatment. My response: I know for a fact 100% my dog did not see the same groomer as her first time. The first time she saw a white lady I believe it was Phaedra, and this second time the lady who spoke to me afterwards was a Spanish lady who just kept saying how my dog doesn't like the dryer. I also do believe the picture I posted speak for themselves.And how would your groomer know what cut I wanted if I was never asked until I brought it up. I have also read other posts and don't understand why it would take almost 4 hours to service my dog and 45 minutes for another dog of the same size even if my dog got more done.
