I brought my 11year old golden retriever in to be groomed. We were the first appointment of the day at 8am. I got there 5-7 minutes early, it was pouring rain and asked if we could wait inside. The staff was chatting, eating and drinking. The manager saw I was African American and wouldn't open the door. She said if she did, she "would have to open the door to everyone" mind you I was the only customer there. Beau and I waited out in the rain. Once inside, I asked the manager why I couldn't come in a wait a few minutes to get out of the rain. My dog is old and has arthritis so it's not easy for him to get in and out of my car. The manager then refused services to me and told me I had to leave. She then threatened to call the police on me. This was shocking, insulting and racist. Racism shows up everywhere in many forms. Racism doesn't always have to be over sized and blatant, a lot of times racism is powered by small everyday micro aggressions like this. I haven't experienced racism like this in a long time. This is NOT okay. I'm saddened and shocked in this day and age this would happen. I was humiliated and devastated. We have to do better people. We all deserve to live in a caring inclusive community. This was an example of poor judgment and blatant racism. Last time I checked I'm pretty sure I didn't see a sign posted above the doorway "For Whites Only" read more

The cut itself was alright, albeit they caused a lot of dandruff, but what really made us upset was that they buzzed off a section of our dogs skin, and didn't even say anything about it when we picked her up. We only noticed it later at home when she kept licking the area. I understand that sometimes cuts and scrapes happen but we should at least be notified. read more

I really like this place, and think they are friendly, but the cut is different each time. They tend to have a lot of groomers and even though I noticed they have little notecards to remember the last cut it doesn't always turn out that way. The other issue is that they are ALWAYS booked way out - I mean like sometime a month out, and I dont always have time to wait. I will keep going, but just know that you might need to book an appointment really far in advance. read more

I specifically told them no less than 3 times to not trim my dogs fringe on his front legs - but his once 7 to 9 inch long hair is now 1 to 2 inches long! To top it off they even trimmed the fringe badly - there were several chunks that were still 8-9 inches long and one side is shorter than the other! He has a few health things I told them about at the same time... did they ignore those too? Ok I think... mistakes happen, I'm annoyed, but it will grow back (although will take a year +), so I was prepared to chalk it up as lesson learned but feel justified in inquiring about a discount. I was told that if they gave me a discount the groomer would only make $8, which they condescendingly pointed out was less than minimum wage. I just paid $110 for 2 1/2 hours work and if you give me 10% discount your employee won't make minimum wage?!? How about you as a business owner pay your employees more, train them to listen, and do right by the community that is trusting you with their beloved pets! I had second thoughts about leaving my pup there after I'd witnessed some gruff attitude towards other dogs being groomed when I stopped in for a nail trims in the past - I should have listened to my gut! read more

We always explain what we like in their hairstyles, and they do a great job listening and with the trim and cleaning. I brought my babies - Kiwi and Bowser - here for the first time today. Their hair had gotten unruly to say the least. Kiwi is a cocker spaniel/ australian shepherd mix and Bowser is a corgi. WOW is all I can say. Kiwi looks like a different dog lol - her hair is so much shorter and pretty! And they put little bows in her hair. Bowser looks more like a corgi now - he is a fluffy and always had a fairly unique look, but they gave him more of a classic corgi cut, which is definitely what we wanted, but I've discovered I kinda liked him more disheveled and adorable lol. Everyone there seemed nice, parking was easy, drop off and pick up were easy. It was expensive imo ($65 per dog) but I think that's normal around here. read more

I regularly took my welsh terrier here for grooming for the last 2 1/2 years and the last few times I would drop my dog off, I noticed she was quite fearful. As we would be driving up the street to park she would start whining and once we parked and would get out of the car she would shake uncontrollably and whine non stop. The final straw was when she was shaking and whining and I was holding her while walking in and Bea(?) said "and who do we have here?" Ok seriously, I've been coming here for quite some time and there can't be that many welsh terriers in Seattle and you still don't recognize my dog? I have a friend who owns her own grooming business in another state and she remembers every dog that is a regular, so I don't think I'm asking too much for them to remember her. In any case, Bea did not even try to console my dog or anything. Also the cuts were never consistent. Why even bother having a card where the way the dog was cut the last grooming appointment is documented when they do whatever they want anyways. Bottom line is I would never recommend this place to anyone. It's seems pretty standard across the board for the one start reviews that most of the dogs were shaking and frightened to enter this establishment. My dog got only a nail trim here, so I can't speak to their cuts. I can speak to their lack of professionalism. My dog has absolutely no problem with a nail trim; he'll lay on the floor and put his paw out for you. I told the groomer this and she said "Ok!" and let him directly to a table, onto which she proceeded to lift my 80 lb dog. He froze and practically slid off because his nails were long and, since he's very long, the table was really too small for him. He was so uncomfortable, probably because no one has ever had him on a table before for any reason. He's a lamb. A big one. They strapped him in to a choke harness (awesome #2) and a belly strap, seriously. I was so uncomfortable, but know that I'm overprotective (I really want to KEEP that super positive nail trim attitude) and assumed it'd be over quickly. I know they don't want to get bitten, but that just seems like a sign of people who don't know how to handle or read dogs well. At the moment I decided this, the metal arm that held the straps fell hard on my dog's head and shoulders. I asked her to take him down and offered to help. She completely ignored my offer to help and finished my dog's nails on the floor in the chaos that was going on around us, with at least 4 other dogs being worked on. So stressful and crazy. Good thing the trims are pretty cheap because she really did a crap job too. One clip on each nail, so they're all sharply angled at different directions and scratching our hardwoods. I can say I will absolutely never bring my dog here again for even a nail trim, say nothing of a grooming, unless I stood there the entire time and watched how my dog was treated. I suggest other owners who do get their dogs groomed here think about it. Maybe they'll learn to do their jobs carefully and professionally and to be more conscientious then. I'm assuming these 4.5 stars are for people that don't stay around and watch. read more

I had been waiting for my puppy to get his last set of shots so that I could take him to Bark in Style. I've had personal recommendations from friends to come here and have read several positive reviews. While recently going to Petco, my husband and I witnessed a less than pleasant dog grooming session with a few dogs and knew immediately we would not want that for our baby boy. So after Yogi got his last set of puppy shots, a grooming session was in order. I arrived at Bark In Style for our 930am appointment and saw a salon full of dogs already. When dropping our puppy off, they told us he'd be ready at around 330pm. I was shocked (having not groomed a pet before) but found out quickly this is the norm. We left Yogi there and off we went. Around 2:15pm we got a call from Yogi's groomer, Jessica, saying he was done and what a sweet puppy he was - he had cooperative very well. I was so relieved to hear that and I knew Jessica must have had a special kind touch and heart to work with a puppy who had never been groomed before. She swore he was on excellent behavior. We picked up the cutest little labradoodle ever! Our little Yogi was absolutely adorable, so cute, and squeaky clean. I loved Yogi's coat before dropping him off and this salon definitely understood how to keep a labradoodle still looking like a labradoodle. He was so, so handsome!!! I've already booked my next appointment at Bark In Style with their handy online appointment tool and I have definitely found Yogi's permanent salon. I'm so glad it didn't take long and I really love this place! Affordable, will take care of your baby, and they are completely professional. If I could give a higher rating than 5 stars, believe me I would. read more

If your dog needs its nails trimmed, you can walk in and watch - whole process under 10 minutes for $10. If you need grooming services beyond that, I don't recommend this place. They ask for a four hour window with an appointment to give a 10 pound dog a generic haircut. Customer service is lacking friendliness. I've observed lots of highly stressed out dogs in this place - even well-socialized, easy going dogs are on edge here. I just picked up Harlow, my mini labradoodle, and this is the first groomer who hasn't destroyed her haircut or made her look like a show poodle! When I first brought Rudy, my pup, into Bark In Style, he barked and went to the bathroom at the foot of their door. I was embarrassed and wondering if I should reschedule for a slower time... Jackie was SO understanding and accepting. She made it seem like Rudy wouldn't be a problem at all. She was quite comforting. Wow, this place is awesome. I took my miniature schnauzer puppy for his first full trim today. He went in looking like a scraggly little ball of fur and he came out looking like the stately little schnauzer that he is. The service was friendly (if not overly so), and the price was very reasonable for the great job she did. My partner and I were bit nervous about this first haircut - not sure what to expect, but I showed pictures to the groomer of what we had in mind, and she did the perfect cut. I called and spoke with someone this morning (a Saturday morning mind you) and of course they did not have any openings, but suggested they take my number down in case something in their schedule changed. All of you pet owners out there know that a groomer is typically booked weeks, even months in advance so I figured this was a long shot. Imagine my delight when they called me back a couple of hours later and told me they could get not just one but BOTH of our poms in!! While i understand that its luck their schedule just happened to open up, I was thrilled that they actually lived up to their word in regards to calling me to let me know. Friendly, fast service! Went up to Wallingford to visit the Wallingford Center, it didn't open until 10AM so we decided to check out the local area. Went across the street to get our dogs nails trimmed and asked while in there if they could clean her ears. They clipped her nails and tried to clean her ears but due to a situation of them being sore (due to a minor infection per a vet local to us) they only charged us for the nails and recommeded getting a second opinion at a local vet down the street. Very happy with the service and wish they lived closer, I would take my dogs to the every week. read more

Woohoo!! So chuffed with Bark in Style, I can hardly contain myself!! I wrote a scathing review several months ago about a grooming experience we had at a Petsmart. I waited for the butcher job they did to grow out while I did some serious groomer investigating. Read dozens of reviews on dozens of different locations. Finally had to put aside my fears and make a decision and Bark in Style was the choice. What a great choice!! As soon as I walked in I felt comfortable. As soon as Molly greeted me and we had a discussion regarding my dog, Pita (acronym for Pain In The Ass) I felt comfortable. I told her what I wanted and she was patient and listened and put me at ease which was crucial after my last experience. The staff seemed at ease and confident although they were very busy. The decibel level can get a bit high with all those dogs but the vibe remained calm. So I left feeling confident. Came back at the given time and not only was Pita ready but dayum! He was looking gooood!! He was happy to see me but not in a freaked out nervous sort of way. Just plain ol' happy to see his human! And I was thrilled to see him looking so fine, so happy, so Pita! Molly did everything I asked! Nothing more, nothing less. Just perfect! I'm happy, and relieved, that I finally found a groomer. So five stars for both Molly and Bark in Style. Thank you so much. I was excited to take my new Yorkie puppy to Bark In Style for her first grooming appointment after all the excellent reviews here on Yelp and many comments saying the prices are reasonable. I have had her nails clipped before at the vet and she did great so I really didn't have any concerns with her being groomed. I was shocked that my 2.5 lbs puppy was $50 for grooming when I see in earlier posts a 15 lbs dog was the same price. But she did look really cute and I didn't ask for pricing ahead of time so I was willing to let that go. I was a bit annoyed that I was not offered an itemized statement for my charges as I was a first time client and I asked how my dog did and they said she was great. I had expected if anything had gone wrong they would have told me. Later that day while my puppy was playing with my niece and nephew I brought her in to get ready to take her home when I noticed her two front paws were covered in blood. This had to have been a result of her nails being cut too short and I think this should have been told to me when I picked her up. My puppy is always happy and for about a day or two after her grooming appointment and the bleeding that afternoon she was constantly shaking and didn't want to play much at all. Maybe I am being a bit harsh and I should see if that was first time jitters for my puppy, so instead of 2 stars I'm stretching and giving 3. I can't say at this time I'm comfortable giving Bark In Style another shot, looks like it's back to researching for a good groomer. read more

They do cats, too!!! These guys are just up the street from me so I thought I would give them a try. They got my cat in within a day and did a fabulous job of washing and grooming him. The price was very reasonable, too, especially considering my cat is a long hair. My only complaint is that the ends of his whiskers on one side were cut off just a bit. But definitely not enough to cause much concern. I would recommend these guys to anybody and will return. read more

When they trim her nails they are gentle and her nails never split or peel! My dog doesn't get a serious groom here, just wash and cleaning of her orifices, so I can't comment on those services. Shorty desperately needed a nail trim. I took Shorty in on a Saturday afternoon. The groomer was able to get to him almost right away. His nails were clipped in a gentle and efficient manner, and I felt very confident about the shop and the groomer. After the "pedicure", Shorty received a very well deserved chicken treat. The online booking option was helpful, too. Beata squeezed us in for a last-minute appointment on the day before Thanksgiving and couldn't have been more pleasant about it. I only gave her a few directions on the cut because I didn't want to be (more of) a pain so I left with my fingers crossed and a dream in my heart -- a dream that my dog wouldn't look ridiculous and/or be scalped. Only discovered Bark in Style today when my Peke kept scratching and I was worried he had fleas! My usual place couldn't fit us in until Saturday but Bark fit both my Peke and my Chow in at 20 mins notice. Everyone was lovely, service was great and they took great care of two old rescues. Boys looked great afterwards. It was $50 for my Peke including hair cut and $60 for my Chow with a cut. I'm sure the basic bath is cheaper but I was happy with the results so ok with the price. read more
