Love this place. We took our dog here for his first professional cut after reading all the great reviews. Since dog haircuts are kind of expensive, and we only need to do it once a year (summer), we figured we wanted to make sure we found the most reputable place to do it. It's kind of alarming how many places have terrible reviews. It is definitely worth it to find a place that will a) not traumatize your dog 2) have staff that will listen to what you ask for 3) make your dog look adorable. Anyway, bark in style was awesome. Really nice, talented, careful and thorough people work here. They know what they're doing, they are kind, good with dogs and intuitive about what will look good - particularly with our little mutt who doesn't fit a specific breed's haircut exactly. Just moved to the area and brought my rescue golden retriever in to be groomed. He can be nervous and has barked/nipped at groomers in the past so I'm always nervous to bring him to new groomers. Molly was so nice and calm, he seemed happy when he came out and his haircut looked great. They even cut his nails, which is a nightmare for anyone. She came out and gave me a summary of how he did, which I really appreciated. The only downside was that I was in a rush and booked the first appointment in the morning and they were late getting there so there was a line in front of the building. I have taken my Weimariner mix here for the past year. She doesn't require this type of grooming too often, but when she does I bring her here for a bath and brush. They do a really great job with my sweet pup who doesn't love going to the groomer. She always comes back happy and smelling fantastic! They have never chipped her nails or cut too short to cause her pain. The online system is FAN-tastic! It makes booking no-hassle. In addition, their location is really centrally located with great parking in front. Everyone I have dealt with has been friendly and easy going. I'd definitely recommend them to others! My coton de tulear boy was super matted and was so scared when we walked in. But all the ladies there were so kind and made both of us comfortable. Molly was our groomer that day and man, did she do a fantastic job! From shaggy - super matted to tidy and handsome ! I was scared that he would look naked but molly made him look really good even with a shaved cut. I really enjoy coming here though because I always get a kick out of seeing all the dogs getting primped up. I had my dog groomed last weekend and noticed a big piece of missing hair a day later, because she started licking and realized she had a cut where the area was shaved. I hadn't asked for any trimming so I was surprised to even find that, let alone not being notified about the accidental nick (it happens, but disappointed that no one told me when I picked her up). A few days later, I started to notice more bloody patches and clumps of fur that had dried up because of blood. We had a recommendation to Bark in Style from a friend and so took her in last Thursday. I explained carefully what we wanted and told the groomer that we particularly didn't want to have her shaved closely around her parts and was willing to pay extra to ensure that she wasn't uncomfortable after grooming. When I picked her up I was shocked to see how closely they had cut her fur after my discussion. She was whimpering and shaking and actually bleeding from her vulva. It's taken days for her to recover and now she has scabs from this. She cried when she peed and couldn't sit down. Clearly we won't go back! read more

Everyone is super friendly you can tell they really care about your pet and it shows in the quality work they do. Pixie had never looked so good and clean!! Sooo happy that I found this place! I am new to the Seattle area and I was very anxious to take my dog Poot Poot to a new groomer. He is a rescue and has been abused so he is scared of most people. My groomer Stephanie was very understanding and even took a good 5 to 10 minutes before the groom to sit down and calm down my dog so that he wouldn't be frightened. Now my dog loves going to the groomer. Stephanie normally grooms my dog, but when she isn't there, Kiley takes care of him. I can't recommend this place enough. 5 stars! read more

Made an appt over the phone, was supposed to be our first visit here. The woman working the desk told me to bring rabies vaccination info to appointment. Vaccine expired on 7/31 and my pup already has a vet appointment for his next round of vaccines this week. They wouldn't take our dog for a haircut because his vaccination expired. I understand and appreciate when businesses are strict about vaccinations but please give this info on the phone before we drive all the way over just to be turned away. Waste of time. read more

I decided to give them a try since they are close to home, and when I first arrived I was skeptical because of all the whining dogs but there was a regular checking in at the same time and she seemed very cheery about it so I thought sure why not give it a try. I was able to get an appointment easily and the bath/brush took about 4 hours. When I came to pick up my pup the staff didn't seem the most friendly and no one even looked at me when I walked through the door some were on their phones. It cost $45 for our visit for a small dog, after I got into the car I noticed she had a ton of hair coming off of her and thought... did they even bathe her because it didn't seem like they brushed her so I smelled her and she smelled pretty clean but I was upset she was shedding so much because that was why I took her in the first place. I called and complained and they told me it's probably other dogs hair that's on her and that's why it didn't look like she has been brushed... wtf that's even worse. I went in for a refund and when I did a woman came out of the back with noise cancelling headphones on and the noise from the back was so loud. if a human has to put headphones on what makes them think dogs are comfortable and happy in that environment? I honestly didn't feel like they treated my dog well while she was there. Never coming back again, I was incredibly disappointed in how I got my pup back after. read more

Inconsiderate. I made an appointment online that was confirmed with a follow up email. When I called to see if I could get on a waitlist for first available, the own said they were simply not grooming poodles or golden doodles any more and that my future appointment would be canceled. Here comes the embarrassing part . . . . I took my dog to get her little nails trimmed at . . . . . . PetCo (*gasp*)! PetCo did SUCH a terrible massacre job that they needed to be repaired immediately. I walked into Bark in Style and the ladies were super understanding and friendly and fixed her nails right up! Yay! I have been taking my dog to Bark in Style for the last year, and they usually do a good job. Today, when I went to pick up my dog, the groomer, Jackie, charged me $10 more than usual. I asked the person taking my payment why, who asked Jackie, who said that someone had written to charge more the next time I bring my dog in, but that was 5 times ago, and I had never been charged more before. The other woman was very helpful, and explained to Jackie that this is not how they do business. Since she was very reasonable, this didn't really bother me. Right, mistakes happen. What was so weird and inappropriate was that Jackie, the groomer, would not let go of my dog's leash during the interaction. I repeatedly told her that I would take the leash, but Jackie ignored me and tightened her grip on the leash. I had to forcefully yank it from her hand. So strange, so inappropriate. Alas, good groomers are hard to come by. I will have to decide whether or not to find somewhere else, or just request another groomer here. read more

I used them once late in 2012 and early-ish spring 2013. I wanted to like Bark in Style and I tipped very well each time I went, but after my dog's 2nd experience here I learned how to groom him myself with one of those electric clippers kit. Everyone at the dog park comments on his beautiful cut. I only learned how to groom him myself b/c of his 2nd experience here. So the first time we took the pup they said he was super great. Yet we were charged the maximum puppy fee for the small dog with no indication of the time spent grooming him. If he was so "great" did the hands on time justify the maximum fee within the range given? The 2nd time I got a phone call b/c the dog was freaking out. They said it was a super loud hair dryer. What, does it sound like, a jet engine? With the fees they make, why not get a better machine? However, I don't think a blow dryer was the culprit. Whenever he's been exposed to lots of noise he's been fine. I don't know what happened but I know the first time he got groomed there he was unscathed and the 2nd time he could barely be consoled. Management was clearly aware of the incident because I was called. So this isn't an issue I could address with the business before providing this review. read more

I had a 10am appointment, they said she'd be done around 2pm. I went back at 3pm and parked several blocks away. From the time I got out of my car I could hear a dog screaming/yelping nonstop. When I got to the window I was mortified to see my dog hanging off the table flailing in the air hanging by it's neck, screaming like I've never ever heard before. If they have a dog that doesn't just stand there the way they want, they should stop and tell the owner they couldn't groom it, not do what they were doing. I bought sheep shears and do it myself, I was so shocked I've never taken either of my dogs to another groomer since. This was 6 or so years ago. read more

I went there twice and ended up highly disappointed. Their prices are a little bit higher than other groomers and the quality of the grooming is poor. First visit: my cocker spaniel mix came back looking like a poodle, even though I had specifically requested NOT to groom him that way and instead make him look like a spaniel (no offense to poodles, it's just that my dog looks ridiculous with that cut). Then looking around I noticed all dogs were groomed the same way, whether they were little yorkies or big hairy dogs. My dog also had a 3 inches scar because they cut him badly while doing the sanitary cut. I probably should have learned my lesson and never come back, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and came back a few months later. Second visit: upon entering the salon, my dog became terrified, panting, whining and jumping around. This time I brought photos to make sure they understood what I mean by "keep him looking like a spaniel and don't give him a poodle cut" and also gave them specific grooming instructions. When I picked up my dog, the cut wasn't right (again) and this time they forgot to clip his nails and doing the sanitary cut. He didn't look like a poodle, but he still looked messy like they hadn't cut much hair. This time I spoke up and asked them to re-trim the areas that they missed. While they did that I went to check out the store next door (Wide World Books & Maps, cool store by the way). When you're in that store, you can hear everything that goes on in the back of Bark and Style. You can hear dogs sliding, slipping and falling in bathtubs, a lot of yelping and overall total chaos. Now I know that when there are a lot of dogs there's always some chaos, but there it really sounded like some dogs were being hurt. You also have to drop off your dog in the morning and pick him up by 4:30pm (not easy when you work), which means they spend almost the entire day in a crate surrounded by total chaos. No wonder dogs look traumatized in there. So why 2 stars and not 1? they were nice and tried to fix (without success) the cut that they messed up and seemed to really wanting to get it right. Also the online scheduling system is convenient. read more
