After a long consideration, I decided I wanted to get my eyebrows filled in. I've never done it before and I've seen some pretty bad mess-ups in the past, so I was pretty nervous. It is semi-permanent, which is important to me because it means I can get a different shape or color 2 years down the road. Yes I'm a fan. I used to wear makeup everyday, especially with my barely there eyebrows. Mind you, my eyebrows are not a matter of filling in. I am the type of person go with my guts ALL THE TIME, and it is always right. Elsa is HOLY AMAZING. First off, she has great communication skills. She is like the type of artists draw composite in police department. You give her some description of what is in your mind, she sketch it up on your face for you. Second, her aesthetic is pretty great, meaning, if you don't know what you want, she will recommend something suits you pretty well. Third, it is still tattoo. Her studio is spotless, actually better than some doctors office I have been to. Her hands are very gentle and quick. The supplies she use are pretty good stuff as far as I can see. Also very importantly, she owns the business. The much of ownership and pride she has in her work cant be compared with others who are hired. Last but not the least, she is a very lovely person. The price looks high but $580 covers two very detailed sessions. The first go around I got something pretty subtle, and after the peeling process and one month of examining and reconsidering, I went back for the "touch up" session, which was really another full on session. By the time of the 2nd session, I already got used to the new pair on my face, and know what I can expect after the 2nd go around. I am really happy with the outcome. If you've ever been on the fence about microblading, then get off that fence!!! Elsa is amazing! I had eyebrow microblading done recently with a complimentary touch up about a month later. Both times, Elsa made the experiences wonderful! Most clients will need a touch up as the skin's ability to hold on to color from the initial procedure may vary person to person. Elsa takes the time to find out what her client wants and listens carefully. She sketches out the eyebrows for you to assess before drawing in guides during the actual microblading procedure. The numbing cream is applied well before and generously during the procedure so the entire process is relatively pain free. After the initial procedure, the color will be darker; If you wear eye makeup, it will look as if you may have applied darker eyebrow makeup. The strokes are beautifully carved in and look very natural. After about a week, the color will lighten up and will appear even more natural. Whether you wear eye makeup or not, Elsa will help you choose a color that compliments your skin tone and coloring. Microblading has saved me so much time when getting ready in the morning. I am torn about the type of review I want to write for Elsa. I made an appointment with her for semi-permanent eyeliner based on reviews and photos on Yelp. She was very friendly and proceeded to lie me down and apply the numbing cream on my eyelids. When she started applying the ink my eye twitched a few times involuntarily and it felt very ticklish. She stopped a few times and then said - well, maybe we shouldn't proceed because your skin is so sensitive, I'm afraid the pigment won't stay in your skin. I had a client who was tearing up a lot and the pigment didn't take at all. I don't think we should continue. Now, I appreciate it that she was able to express her limitations and back out of a situation with which she was not comfortable, but I am concerned that she gave a more or less incorrect explanation for why that had to happen. I did not have excessive tear production and there was no reason to think the pigment wouldn't stay in my skin. I did subsequent research and other makeup artists have commented that often when the pigment doesn't take it is due to incorrect technique. But in my case she actually had no idea whether or not the pigment would take because she never tried past the initial 5 minutes to complete the treatment. I ended up going to another place and am very happy with my results. So it wasn't my "sensitive skin" after all. Just an FYI, in case you also make an appointment to come out to Flushing, you might want to find a more experienced technician. read more

I was looking for a new place to do my eyebrows because the one I went to a year before was terrible. I reached out through Yelp after seeing all of the great reviews and pictures. Elsa responded immediately and we set up an appointment. On the day of the appointment, I was a little anxious. I had a pretty bad experience with the previous place I went to. The numbing cream (if we can call it that) they used on me did nothing and I was in excruciating pain the entire way. I told them it hurt but they didn't say anything and continued! My experience with Elsa was completely different. She applied a good amount on my eyebrows and made sure I was in no pain the entire way through. I think she even applied more on when it was starting to wear off. During the whole time, Elsa and I chatted and she kept the conversations light and fun. The time flew by! I had gone to Elsa because of all the raving reviews on Yelp. I guess I should have done more research before going to her. Now it makes me wonder whether all of these 5-star ratings are even real!! She definitely was not as experienced as I thought she was going to be in eyebrow embroidery. Maybe she is better for eyeliner tattoo??? My eyebrows came out so ugly that I had to use eyebrow pencil after the scabbing came off to change the shape of my eyebrows that she tattooed on. I felt so hideous that I didn't even want to see anybody. I hid for a week. I couldn't go to work looking like that. So what was the point of me paying about $600 again?! I wanted to be able to wake up in the morning and not have to worry about my brows!! What a true disappointment. On top of that, my brows didn't even last. It only lasted like a few months and then it was all gone! Luckily, I found another place to redo my brows and the results have been so much better than what I had done here. It has been a week since my 1 month touch-up after the first initial procedure, and the ending result is perfect. I found Bare Beauty on Yelp while searching for a place to retouch my faded microbladed brows. From setting up appointments, to consultation for the shape and color of my eyebrows, to the procedure itself, and after-care instructions, Elsa was more than thorough with her works and she made the whole experience a breeze. She went out of her way to send me reminders, a day before my appointments, and was quick to answer questions that I had regarding my brows after our sessions. The 1st procedure was about 2 hours long, after consultation, then comes the measurement, then the numbing cream, then wait for about 20 mins, and then the microblading. Was it painful? well it depends on how high your pain tolerance is, I felt some poking but it didn't really bother me. If you can't handle pain, I'm sure you can let Elsa know and she probably can do something about it. Overall, Bare Beauty will be my go-to-place for future brows works. I am sooo happy that I found Elsa on Yelp here. She's literally a godsend from heaven. She's super sweet and nice like everyone else said on here - she's an angel!!! This is why she has 5 stars and so many satisfied customers. I made an appointment and didn't show up and couldn't contact her I wasn't coming due to an emergency and she was so understanding for that. We rescheduled two days later and BAM new brows I absolutely love! She's very professional, precise and detailed. Her office is very clean, bright and private. It's a one on one session - you're the only one there with her. I filled out an application and signed some forms and we proceeded to draw and choose which brow shape for me. I wanted something not too arched or straight, or too thick or thin - something natural! I have very sparse, light, and short brows. After around 5-10minutes of consultation we began the procedure! I had numbing cream but still felt slight stinging and burning feeling. Elsa said this is because my skin is thinner so the cream wears off quicker. The pain was bearable - maybe 4/10? I didn't feel the blade scratching on my skin but I it sounds like scratching your nail on a sandpaper. After approximately an hour and forty minutes she was done! The strokes look very natural - it's a bit darker but that's expected and will fade after a week or so. I was given A+D ointment and instructions and will make an appointment at least 1 month later for retouch. Healing process and touchup will be added onto this review! Elsa is simply amazing! Getting my eyebrows and waterline done with her is probably one of the best investments I've made! I say investment simply because the procedures are not cheap, but it's semi permanent and right on your face, so do you really want to bargain hunt for something like this :p? To be honest, out of all the reputable places I've researched, Elsa is actually the least expensive option. I was amazed that she has all five star reviews on Yelp, and looking at all the result videos on her instagram account further solidified my decision to go with Elsa for my eyebrows and waterline semi-permanent tattoos. Before meeting her, I noticed that she's always very quick to respond to my questions. I sent a photo of my eyebrows to her, and she actually told me that since my eyebrows are not that sparse, I don't necessarily have to get them done. I really love the fact that she's honest and not trying to make a sale =]. On the day of the appointment, I explained to Elsa what I was looking for. She first drew in my eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil. When I looked into the mirror I was very pleasantly surprised! I've been drawing in my eyebrows for so long, but I've never seen them look as good as when Elsa had done it! She listened to exactly what I wanted, and didn't try to do the very arched eyebrows nor the flat and thick Korean eyebrows that are trendy. Then comes the numbing cream and off with the needle she goes! The procedure is painless and I just felt a little scratch on my skin. The waterline is a bit more uncomfortable but still tolerable and not painful at all. During the whole process Elsa and I were chatting. I found out that she first got the procedure done in Taiwan and became interested in it and started learning more about it. She's done training in Korea and China, and really enjoys what she does! I think that's so important because when someone is passionate about what they do, they usually do better than someone that's just in it to make money. After the procedure, my eyes were pretty swollen since my skin is very sensitive. This went away in a few days. The tattoos will appear a lot darker initially, but it'll gradually scab off, and after a week they were very natural. I'm so so happy with the results! Let me just start off by saying Elsa is absolutely the sweetest and she is absolutely great at what she does. This is my eyebrows with absolutely no makeup! Look no further if you want to wake up every morning with natural looking but perfectly groomed eyebrows. If you are like me who hates spending time in the morning filling in eyebrows, then definitely make an appointment with Elsa. Elsa was very helpful when I told her my concerns and made sure that I was well informed about every step of the procedure. It seems most people often get microblading without doing the proper research first and left bad reviews because they don't know how to properly take care of their eyebrows after the procedure. The healing process lasted almost an entire month so please don't expect to come out of the appointment with perfect eyebrows right away. At first, it will appear dark and slowly, the pigment will start to scab and then it might seem really light at first but eventually, the pigment will come back. Microblading, after all, is using needles and depositing pigment in your skin so how you take care of it afterwards have a lot to do with how it heals. I have spent almost twice as much getting my eyebrows microbladed in Manhattan and it is no where as close as to what Elsa has done for me. Elsa did a wonderful job on my eyeliner! I went in not really knowing what to expect. I have really sparse eyelashes so I tightline the lash area. My daily routine was to spend 10 minutes applying the liner, & then spend the day worried about smudges (which were neverending). I decided I was willing to pay for makeup that would save me time and anxiety. Elsa takes her time explaining the procedure and expectations. She provided honest feedback about what I was envisioning and we settled on the type of eyeliner. The space itself was very relaxing and clean. She is chatty and is just a lovely person to be around! After the procedure: There is a bit of swelling for 24 hours, but it wasn't too bad. After a few days, a thin layer will flake off and you're left with an entirely natural looking line. Elsa is great. She's beyond great... she's terrific. I found out about Bare Beauty Workshop through Instagram. I saw Elsa's work and decided that I wanted to shape my brows and go through with the treatment. Being that it was the first time, I was not sure what to expect. I went in for a consultation (free). Elsa was very kind, warm, and welcoming. She looked at my brows and gave me recommendations on what I should do, and shortly after, set up the appointment. The semi-permanent eyebrow procedure is not painful at all, despite it being a "tattoo." She applies numbing cream after she draws in your brows and shapes them. Elsa does a brief trim and then asks if you are okay with the shape and look. Be communicative and let her know exactly what you want. She pays very close attention to details and does everything she could to make sure what you are happy. Elsa is very professional and her office is clean. She is the only one there. Her tools are sterile and as a first-timer, I can tell you that you are in very good hands. The first few days after the treatment, the eyebrows can look very dark and thick... it tones down and softens within a week, don't worry. After getting my eyebrows done with Elsa, I fell in love with my new eyebrow look! I most definitely recommend going to Elsa for eyebrows, not only that but because she's very, very friendly and easy going about everything, super nice! When I first came in (July 23rd), I know I had made an early appointment in the morning with her and I lived in the city while the location was in Flushing. She made an exception to take me in still even though I was an hour late for my actual appointment since there were a bunch of constructions going on during that weekend (Sorry for that!), but anyways, the overall procedure took about an hour to an hour and thirty minutes which really wasn't that bad, the time goes by fast when you're talking with Elsa which is very nice! :) The procedure goes like this: She draws/shapes your eyebrows the way you request it, then she sketches it by hand and makes sure it's even with your face structure. Right after, she'll ask you if it's the right fit for you and if you're satisfied with the sketch before putting the numbing cream (your eyebrows number for 15~20 minutes). Once it's all numbed up, she's ready to apply the semi permanent equipment thingy. I feel as if she's really meticulous when doing the procedure but that's obviously because she knows what she's doing, so leave it up to her! Throughout the entire process its PAINLESS, and you can just lay there and fall asleep while she does her magic. (September 10th) - I came in for my one month touch-up, and again, it is the same process and it takes up the about an hour to complete. After spending many hours comparing photos and reviews of other places, I finally settled on this one. In my mind, I was thinking, whatever, this is semi-permanent so even if I don't like it, it'll come off or I can always use concealer, but boy, I love this place! I am only a month in and I am sure I want to go to her for a different procedure! The owner of the spot is really someone who you would want to work on your face.
