Drinks were a bit watered down, group of 10 next to us said their table was given away so they went to another restaurant. The waiter was very nice though and the scenery outside was beautiful. read more

We've been here multiple times over the past 7 years but the food and service have dropped recently. Tonight waiter was almost rude and not attentive- didn't notice if water or iced tea needed to be refilled and the fish and chips was something I'd expect more from a TV dinner than a restaurant. In the past the burgers and salads had been good. Last month I was there with a friend and they got her order wrong. When she was finally able to get the waitress's attention, she was told "well, I can ask the kitchen to remake it, but we're busy so you'd be at the end of the mine and it will take a long time"- not the right customer service when the restaurant/kitchen made the mistake. It's a lovely spot, so I hope things do improve. read more

I eat at the downtown location a couple times a month and it's one of my favorite places. We went to the Eagle location for Father's Day and it was a little disappointing. We expected the service to be a little slow, but when nearby tables received their food before we did (they didn't even arrive until after we ordered), it's beyond frustrating. I usually love their food but my wife's eggs Benedict were both over cooked and my seared Ahi was well done. Pretty bad mistakes considering the dishes. Not impressed. read more

A lively setting down by the Boise river. Food and drink are a bit pricey. Inside always noisy. Lovely patio during the summer, but expect long waits at peak times. Inside or outside, it is difficult for the elderly to maneuver, as tables are close together. read more

Waiter wasn't informed on the specials and didn't offer to get someone to help. Kind of an idiot. Service was overall bad and chaotic. Uncomfortable seating, and seat yourself isn't attractive. Don't sit inside - too loud. All that being said, food was excellent and a great value. read more

My favorite spot for everything social. I love the always fun atmosphere and the service is always great. If you're ever here try the trout. Yum! But I've never had a bad meal here read more

Absolutely adore this place!! Fabulous, creative drinks. Great appetizers, friendly service and affordable. :-)

A place I come each time I come to Idaho. Really good food. I had the quinoa burger and it was to die for. Would recommend it even if your not a vegetarian. It was super flavorful and really filling.. I could only finish half. Wasn't impressed with my Moscow mule is the reason for 4 stars. It came in a regular glass which was a little weird, plus, it tasted very fake sugary and not even like ginger. Other than that, always impressed. read more

The ambiance and service was great! Our waiter even kindly gave us our dessert for free which was a nice gesture but our 20$ bacon wrapped filet that we asked to be medium rare was very dry and over cooked, well done to say the least. I am not one to complain and I never send food back but I did mention it in hopes I wouldn't have to pay for it and It was hardly edible. We were there for a fund raiser or I would have refused to pay for it. Our beef gyro was very dry as well. I was very disappointed with everything we ordered except the cheese cake! read more

There is a reason this venue stays busy, it is amazing. The menu provides a great variety not only for food, but beverages too. Mike and his folks at the bar provide great guidance on your beverage of choice and create a friendly atmosphere. Devan is an awesome server and offers great recommendations if you're not sure just what you want. You won't want to miss this restaurant read more

A few years ago we would eat at Bardenay regularly, then after a few less than stellar experiences (mostly with the service) we stopped. We recently decided to try it again and I'm happy to say that our recent visits have been great, with very good food and casual yet professional service. To top it off they have a dedicated gluten free menu! read more

Do not order the capellini pomodoro. Worst ever. Bacon filet wrap yummy. Cheese board very good. Waiter dude very nice and attentive. Asked about recommended wines...and received the best. Molten chocolate bunny cake . read more

Wow! Just took my mom to dinner and the hosts at this restaurant were amazing!!! Made me feel so welcome and made the food taste 10x better.

The staff at the Hilton next door recommended the place, said it had "really good food". So my wife and I decided to give it a try. We were seated right away (6:30 pm) at a tiny barstool type table near the back of the restaurant. First impressions, very, very noisy and diffenetly a place to get a drink. Which explains alot! We ordered the Canlis Ceasar salad, no anchovies with grilled chipotle chicken, which we were promised wasn't spicy at all, and a cup of clam chowder. I got a Dr. Pepper and my wife stuck with the water that was brought to the table. The soda was your typical bar soda, mostly soda water with a little syrup to color it. It was sent back and when the second one was just as bad, it was also sent back and I did without. The soup and salad was delivered, and it was the worst soup and salad that we've ever had. Everything was spiced in such a way as to make you order more to drink. Even the Clam Chowder had that slow burn at the back of your throat going for it. The "House" Ceasar dressing was so watered down, it reminded me of the bar soda I sent back. So if you like booze and piss poor upscaled bar food, this is the place to go. read more

We were here on Labor Day at lunch and we're fortunate to be seated on the patio right on the pathway along the Boise River. We started with a,yummy smoked trout appetizer. Very good. We had 4 in our party and each had something we really liked: salmon and pear salad, panzzenela sald, chicken satay with lime ginger marinade and meatloaf sandwich and fries. We were each pleased with our selection! read more

Oh yes this place is good. Came in for happy hour and their IPA beer selection and cask beer was good . Service was excellent as was the food. I'll be a regular here. They make thier own rum, vodka, & beer. Food was awsome as well. read more

You simply cant get a better place for beer selections. I'm sitting here having a cask style Mirror Pond Pale Ale and it's fantastic. Sure other places may have more beer choices but having a cask style brew is truly unique in my opinion. Haven't tried the food yet but I do make a point to visit this place when I'm in Boise. Also their distilled spirits are great. It's hard to beat the outside seating on a summer day. read more

Great place, great food, great service. Atmosphere is a little loud when it's busy. The only bad thing is I wish they had frozen beer glasses, oh well, still one of my favorite places. Best steak sandwich anywhere! read more

Great food and location. The salmon and side caesar is always good. Best fries in Eagle. We love to sit on the patio.

I really like this restaurant. It is pretty reliable. The service is usually friendly. I love their salmon salad. It is close to my house so it makes it convenient. read more

Had lunch here during the summer, the calamari was way over done. My bf ordered the meatloaf sandwich which came with horseradish mayo, but they forgot the primary condiment. I had the club, it was ok but really dry. read more

A great place to enjoy drinks and food. Inside or out. Servers are always friendly and helpful.

First time here and it was a nice lunch spot. We sat outside with a beautiful view of the fountain. Everyone enjoyed the food selections and had no leftovers. They were a bit busy on a Friday afternoon so we had a bit of a wait. Will try again for dinner next time. read more

Horrible caesar salad. The menu is deceptive, advertising the add on "beef tenderloin." Well it was beef, but certainly not tenderloin. They charge $10 for 4 oz of "tenderloin" - that may be OK but ten bucks for a lousy cut of strip steak is not a good value. The salmon add on was overcooked and greasy. Beyond all that, the salads are completely unprofessional, with a glob of anchovies capped over little pools of lousy diced tomato, and overdone bacon bits leftover from several days ago. I asked for a dressed salad, but the waiter really didn't understand what that means. So you get a plate of chopped romaine, little pools of poor quality ingredients, and either overcooked frozen fish or tenderloin that isn't. I have had decent meals at Bardenay, but you best avoid the "Caesar" that isn't even close. read more

Yummy dinner tonight at Bardenay. I had a ginger rum cocktail John had a drink called a Basil instinct. Our entree's were a yellow fin sandwich with the best sweet potato fries ever and John had Kobe tacos which were fabulous. Beautiful outdoor seating. Alicia, our server was very friendly and extremely efficient. She and her husband are recent transplants from Santa Cruz. Love Boise and just bought a home. Great overall dining experience. read more

Memorial Day, 1245pm....we see a busy parking lot but take a chance anyway. Surprisingly find a table on the patio, just hadn't been bused yet. 10 minutes later, waitress and some busing. Bad sign that it took that long. But we endure. Some of the tables next to us are overheard complaining about an hour + to get their food. So about 40 mins after we order, we ask for an update from out waitress on status and to remind her we asked for fries as appetizer....she comes back 10 mins later to tell us the kitchen won't tell her when to expect our food (and still no fries).....which means to me it's still in the queue and not even printed. We decided to bail. I don't get it....place was busy, but not that busy. And, if food is usually 20 mins (which has been my experience) and as a waitress you know it's more like 45 to 70, then tell us BEFORE we order. I have a feeling most people at the restraunt had a poor experience today. Manager was no where to be seen. Pretty sad state of affairs at a place that I have enjoyed numerous times before. read more

Today, our visit tho the restaurant was with very mixed experience. Place was very busy as always. Few of us ordered mixed drinks, ours came in tall skinny glasses and for many reasons (sanitary especially) we were looking for a straws. We did ask person who delivered the drinks for few straws - never came back. Our waitress, 15 minutes later, when she was taking order for our food and we also did ask her for them, did never bring it either. One of us, finally, got up and went to nearest waiters station ( 15 steps away) and did bring few straws so we can finally drink our drinks. Dinner finally came, one steak - should have been medium was well done, something with a Hamburger - well done. And trout dinner - person found long dark hair in it. Restaurant did discounted Trout Dinner, but over all we were disappointed. We been there many times, it is a nice place and good food. We understand that it is busy all the time, but don't loose it. read more

I wish I could give a better rating, but after giving Bardenay four tries, I won't be going back after today. Their happy hour stinks! Most of their cocktails aren't even on the happy hour menu. Their glasses are so small, and their prices are so high. Their food is subpar at best. How do you screw up a cheeseburger? My friends steak was like a hockey puck. Rude waiter. Poor service. Slow. Don't waste your time or your money. read more

This restaurant just happens to be in one of my favorite places to walk - along the greenbelt, beside the Boise River, in Eagle, Idaho. My favorite dish at Bardenay is the salmon (to die for). The black bean/mango chimichangas are also good. My teenaged son likes the fettucine alfredo with garlic bread and the caesar salad. The inside is lively and large, the outside, deck area is very pretty, next to a pond and the greenbelt, with cool lighting at night. We've taken friends and our college-age kids and their friends to Bardenay many times, for good food at a reasonable price. read more

My husband and I frequent here regularly. No matter how busy they are they always have timely service. Their food is out standing. I often get the salmon sandwich or the tuna salad. Both have amazing taste and big portion size. The price is really reasonable. The environment of the restaurant is great for meetings or a casual date with a friend or spouse. I wouldn't say it is romantic because It can get pretty noise when they are busy. Over all always happy and satisfied when we leave. read more

Such a nice restaurant a suprisenely affordable price. Right next to the green belt the inside decorations are amazing. Very good date restaurant. Food was above what I expected and had huge selection for drinks. read more

Have always enjoyed coming here. Love being on the patio when the weather is nice, always good food - always a good time!!

The Trout was amazing! I would highly recommend it. Unfortunately, my husband was smart enough to order the trout and I was not. I can't remember the name of my dish, it was pasta with vodka sauce, the sauce was ok, the shrimp was really, really good!! Lemonade was awesome as well. If you like fish, get the Hagerman trout, it's so good! read more

Took my 4 year old son out for a special father/son dinner tonight at Bardenay. Partway through the meal he told me had to go to the bathroom. Tried to find the waiter on the way over to let him know what was going on but it was a 4-year old potty emergency. We left our napkins on our seats (rather than on the table, plus we hadn't even paid yet) and went. A few minutes later we came back to find our food gone and people sitting at our table. Night ruined. They offered to get us something else, but there were no tables left at that point, and we had already waited long enough for our food the first time. They gave us $4 off our meal...$4. Unbelievable. Update: So in the end management did the right thing. They reversed the charge for our dinner that night and sent us a gift card. Due to scheduling we haven't been back yet, but definitely plan to give it another try. We had eaten there multiple times previously and had always enjoyed our meals and the patio dining. Mistakes happen and humans do human things. While I'm certain everyone involved wishes things would have happened differently, in the end the people at Bardenay did the right thing and I applaud them for that. read more

We had some time to kill so we thought we'd go to Bardenay to have a drink. ...it was self seating so we sat at a table by the front window. We waited a few minutes before the waitress came by. My husband asked what was on tap, she replied she'd go get the beer/wine list. She never came back. After a while we started to look for her. She was flittering around other customers, got hugs from one. ....we kept waiting. ....watching her walk around. ....we finally got up and left. Sadly, it put us in a rather dismal mood. It's not like they were busy. Maybe we should've asked the bartender for a drink. Won't go back any time soon. read more

The food is great but just know that some of their dishes have horseradish. It would have been nice if the waiter would have told me that my choice had horseradish as I didn't see that on the menu. Nice place to eat though. I went with my co-workers and 2 of them go the same reaction I did where I felt my nose was burning. I've been there twice and would come back and make sure I ask for no horseradish. :) read more

My absolute favorite restaurant in the area. They have about 5 menu choices for vegetarians which suites me well, I've tried them all and the best is the portabello mushroom burger and the sweet potato chimichanga. Their patio by the river is awesome, I will even wait for a table to open to sit there. The chips and pico de gallo to start are so good. For how nice this place is, the prices are better. When all the other restaurants are increasing their prices to $12-$15 a meal, you can still get something for $8-$10 at Bardenay. There will be something for everyone in your party as their menu is big and they have a big kid's menu as well. There is nothing for the kid's though - no coloring, no dessert. My husband loves the long islands, says they are stronger than other places. read more

Love this place. Especially summer on the patio. Our go to spot for entertaining out of town guests. Salmon Brushetta Salad is my favorite. Trout appetizer plate is always a starter. Great wine list, but I have to say the make a great Mojito. Downtown location is nice if you have other plans after dinner, but my favorite is Eagle location. read more

Bardenay always has fun drinks - from the seasonal stuff to the Mystery Drink - a fun way to try something new. Happy Hour fare is always just right, not too much, but never skimpy. I personally am loving the fish and chips, but I get a salad in place of the chips. The breading is perfectly crispy and the fish chunks are HUGE! So if you prefer to sit at the bar, or a table top, you'll always have great service. Caroline, Mikey, Lisa, Jodi, basically everyone there is top notch! And if you're up for it afterwards, you're right next to the Boise River Greenbelt and can walk off your food! read more

I love this place!! The food is always AMAZING and the employees are so nice. My favorite is Jordy I loved walking in this week to see all the great Halloween decorations. read more
