Husband and I decided to go there for brunch this past Sunday as we have been there before and really enjoyed it. This time we were greeting by two young girls who were supposed to be the hostesses. I asked not to be seated by children as a family had just came in before us and while I like children sometimes I just want to have a grownup dining experience. These two girls didn't seem to know what they were doing as they were talking to each other and weren't communicating very well. It was almost like they didn't know what they were doing. They did seat us on the patio and there were lots of empty tables at the time and we were seated in the in the sun. We had coffee and since the coffee wasn't very good I decided to add cream and sugar to my coffee and I pulled out a dirty raw sugar packet out of the container on the table. I didn't put it back in needless to say. My husband ordered the Rancheros Omelet and I ordered bacon and eggs. Our food arrived and I found myself looking at two pieces of bacon on top of my eggs and the bacon was greasy. The potatoes had chunks of green peppers and onions almost the same size as the potatoes and the potatoes were not crisp but oily/greasy like the bacon. The fresh fruit was two bites of cantaloupe and red grapes. The English muffin wasn't toasted well and the butter I was given didn't seem to melt when I spread it. I have eaten at this location many times before and I usually work hard to ignore the noise level, but this wasn't the type of experience I usually have here. I will be back at some point, but I hope quality control improves or maybe it was just an off day. read more

What a surprise to find this amazing restaurant. I thought it was going to be very bouchée, absolutely the most friendliest and welcoming restaurant. Our server Gumba the most awesome server ever. Very personal and so polite. Everything from being seated to just great communication, you actually feel like you are being spoiled. They have this great little info book about their restaurant and employees so you feel like you are part of the family. They show their contributions to charities. They have a great page about who is the employee of the month and why they are the employee of the month. Way to go Devyn,congrats on being employee of the month. Was like an overpriced Applebees. Super basic food, not interesting or well done. I had so many people recommend it and I was so bummed. My steak was like 60% fat and my husband had a burger. Was excited to go here after reading the reviews and looking at their website. Ordered a Ruby Negroni before dinner - nice cocktail. Ordered a charbroiled chipotle chicken sandwich (should've ordered the salmon) - pretty average. After dinner ordered a Boulevardier and got some cocktail in a martini glass (not sure what it was - no Campari in it). Family-friendly, great staff, awesome ambience, and great tasting food. Price range is pretty good and the menu offers a lot of selections. I am pleased to find American, Italian, and Asian food from the menu (I might have forgotten some from the list). Plenty of alcoholic drinks to choose from as well. I skipped dessert so I couldn't write anything about that. The entire family loved Bardeney. Our guests from CA and WA expressed their interest to come back here when they visit ID again. It was truly a wonderful experience. Finally, I "managed" to lose my wallet in the parking lot during one of my visits in Bardeney. I discovered this as soon as I arrived home so I went back to the restaurant. I was immediately assisted and luckily someone did find my wallet. I was truly moved how nice and honest people are in ID. Unfortunately, I did not meet the person who returned my wallet to one of the staff members. Went here last night for the first time. Had the pork chop and hubby had the trout. My pork chop was excellant. Amazing flavor and cooked just right. Hubby said his trout was very tasty, he just wished they hadn't drowned it in gravy. Drinks were good, would recommend the huckleberry lemon drop! Server was friendly and stayed on top of things. Really good food and interesting menu but badly managed. Got in for an early dinner but took over 2.5 hours. Waiter had too many tables - was really nice just in a bad situation. We asked twice to other employees to help us and neither of them escalated to the manager. Very little manager presence - no one ever came over to see how we were after two complaints! I was excited to try this place. I wasn't impressed. Food lacked flavor and the plating was sloppy. The drinks seemed watered down (I mean how can you mess up Sangria). I hate to say this: but AppleBees has more flavorful food and drinks (and is less expensive..know, to harsh, but I have to be honest) I was disappointed. The service was also poor. O' and why were the menus wet? That was my first warning but I ignored it because I was with four of my dear friends and we hadn't been together; more-a-less eaten out since BC (before Covid). The website had Resy and we joined the waitlist using it. We got a text message saying we joined the waitlist and we'd have 10 min from when we get a text saying our table was ready to check in. We got another text 15 min later saying that our table was ready. We got there six minutes later and one hostess said they didn't do Resy and then another said they did but that we took too long. They said no matter they could seat us. Our table was grimy and it took a while to get service. I had the tuna salad and it wasn't good (really salty, mushy and the lettuce had a fishy taste) although the tuna itself was good. The other two entrees weren't that great. Spring has sprung, dining is opening up, and Bardenay Restaurant in Eagle has to be one of our favorite places to go enjoy both! We were fortunate to snag an outdoor table by the river for dinner Saturday night. From the Hostess desk to the bussers, the people working here are the nicest and so attentive. There are some stellar crafted cocktails to be had, and we kicked off the evening with a couple of Huckleberry Lemon Drops. The seared Ahi Tuna and Calamari appetizers always get us off the starting line, and the kitchen knows what 'sear'ed means on delicate Ahi. My husband is gluten intolerant, and the number of offerings on the menu that are either GF or can be GM are astounding. This visit hubs had the charbroiled Trout fillet, which he swears is one of the best around, served with balsamic cream, and capers, garlic mashed potatoes and a perfectly steamed vegetable medley. I had Panzanella Bruschetta Salad - delicious greens, chunks of olive oil drizzled rustic bread, feta cheese, smoked mozzarella, Kalamata olives, cucumber, tomato and red onion in a champagne vinaigrette. Add charbroiled chicken and it's an epic main course. Our meals were accompanied by a bottle of Rombauer Chardonnay, one of our favorites. We finished up with a generous slice what has to be one of the best carrot cake around, easily satisfying 2. Here's the magic about Bardenay: You can come in for light dining built around appetizers, satays, tacos, and salads; or turn the evening into multi course, fine dining - offerings are that varied. My husband and I each had the filet wrapped in smoked bacon with Madeira Demi-glacé, fried shallots, garlic mashed potatoes and chef's vegetables. The food was excellent, we will definitely return, but we will either time our arrival earlier than 5:00pm or later because the noise level was quite high. My husband and I could carry on a conversation, however I think if there had been more people at our table it would have been difficult to converse. Our food server was very attentive but didn't appear happy at all. It didn't affect our service, so nothing negative to report other than the fact he didn't smile...ever. read more

This has been one of favorite restaurant (we have live in Eagle 25 years) for over 20 years have eaten here hundreds of times. Ordered takeout last evening wanted the shrimp salad they said they no longer offer it. We ordered French dip with salad Pork fusion tacos with 2 side salads and an appetizer. We have ordered this so many times and everything was different I mean drastically different- the French dip was horrible meat was so tough roll was different; I wasn't able to eat it even the side salads were different. I get it food costs have risen but they should have increased their prices instead lowering their quality. It saddens me we will no longer go in or order carry out. Eventually their restaurant will suffer. read more

Great atmosphere, food and service. My favorite part about Bardenay is the patio! The menu has a creative touch, I started reading carefully and was pleasantly surprised! Local sourcing is good. Ordered the Kobe steak sandwich, others ordered the amazing pork tacos with grilled peppers, all looked gorgeous and tasted great. The distillery part is good, but as connoisseur of micro distilleries across the country, others are now eclipsing them. Still, lovely cocktails, very creative ingredients. read more

They have amazing food options here and the décor is really inviting and comfortable. I have celiac disease and always on the look out for a restaurant options that are NOT salad. Although, they do have some really tasty sounding salad options. I had the Charbroiled Durham Ranch ground Chuck burger with bacon and Tillamook Cheddar cheese on a gluten free bun. It was delicious! My side was the Red Bean & Chorizo Stew, which also was very hearty and tasty. The whole meal, with a fresh squeezed lemonade, cost $16 and change. I don't like having to find a seat by myself. When it is busy, I feel like I have to hover in order to find a table. It can be noise with the high ceilings but when the weather gets better, it is very pleasant to eat by the river. The food is good with some vegetarian options such as the portobello mushroom burger, quinoa burger, or a burrito. read more

I would not recommend ordering to go. Every time I start an order, it says it will take 20 minutes . Yet when I submit the order , it now takes an hour. This time, despite leaving a 15 % tip, I still had to go back into the restaurant and ask for a missing item. If a restaurant can't/won't support to go orders, it shouldn't offer them as an option. If your goal is food, save yourself the trouble and hit the Wendy's drive thru. The fries are better anyway. Cheers. read more

My date and I decided to grab Sunday brunch before taking a stroll along the Greenbelt. Great location for it, of course. It was pretty busy, but we seated ourselves at the bar, so no wait for a table. The bartender greeted us, then gave ample time to peruse the menu and figure out a drink and food order. I ordered the breakfast martini with Bardenay french toast. The martini was ok, Bardenay vodka with a scoop of marmalade and a host of floating ice chips. After taking one sip, my immediate thought: Why not use their famous lemon vodka? The french toast was crispy and dry, difficult to cut without flinging everything off of my plate. The bacon was crispy and delicious. I mean...it's bacon, and the potatoes were ah-mazing. Surprisingly, the best part of the meal - crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and a healthy dose of rosemary seasoning. My date got a Newcastle beer and the biscuits and gravy with Basque-style chorizo. The Newcsatle was a backup to the bloody Mary he was hoping for, but when we saw one prepared, it looked rather mundane. For his meal, the chorizo was absolutely delicious. I barely got a bite before he consumed it. The biscuits and gravy were on par with my french toast. The biscuits had a savory cheesy taste, but semi dry and incredibly hard to cut. Overall, a lackluster brunch, but I plan on returning for their exquisite smoked trout spread and a lemon vodka martini. read more

We frequent this restaurant often and the food has always been good and the service phenomenal. The last 4 times we've gone they have been out of the clam appetizer which we love so we start questioning why this is even offered on the menu. Unfortunately, yesterday when we went the service was just the worst. There was a young blonde lady that was running drinks and hanging behind the bar wearing a jean jacket that was so rude! The worst attitude we've experienced in a long time. If our food hadn't already been ordered we would've left and walked straight out she was so insulting. Really disgusting someone can treat the customers that way. We're going to start trying to go to the Boise location as the service and food options just seem to be declining at this location more and more . read more

I'd give it 10 stars if I could. The food here is wonderful but you have got to have a whisky sour here. It's not from a mix. I usually stick with coffee but in this case I always have a drink with dinner. In both Boise and Eagle we had excellent service and delicious food. read more

We had nice time at Bardenay. The atmosphere was wonderful. I will say that I felt that it was over priced but it was such a lovely atmosphere I guess that is why the food and drinks cost so much. We had a few cocktails and shared a meat and cheese tray appetizer. I wold not return again because despite it being a beautiful restaurant and the waitress being a lovely lady, I can get drinks and appetizers elsewhere for a more reasonable price. read more

Love love love this place! My favorite part is the variety of food that there is on the menu. And their drink menu is awesome. I got the pho, I wouldn't recommend it. I'm used real pho, like in SF and nothing can beat that. Their tacos are sooooo yummy. And they are good size tacos. I loved the ahi appetizer. I would deff come back here, for sure! read more

I'm updating my previous review to 3 stars, with this caveat: If you're going for apps and cocktails, it's 4 stars. If you're going for a meal, it's 2, maybe 3 stars.You can definitely do better for a meal. We went for afternoon cocktails and happy hour. They still have an awesome Martini, for only $6.50...that's a win right there. House drinks were $4 during happy hour, but get this...if I want a Martini, it's $6.50. Same gin...I'm just paying $2.50 for a splash of vermouth and an olive. I suppose I could order house gin, shaken with ice, but still...c'mon guys... (EDIT: It's possible the Martini pour was larger than a $4 happy hour pour, in which case I have no complaints. And $6.50 for their excellent Martini is still a great deal.) Apps were good; nice to get a mix of satays during happy hour. The calamari was good, with a cornmeal batter, which added a nice crunch. We also tried salmon croquettes, and were not as thrilled. I think they were prepared properly, just not my scene. I'd be back for sure for cocktails. For dinner, I'd look elsewhere. read more

If you are looking for a place to drink beer and get loud and boisterous maybe this place is for you. If you are looking for a quality place to eat, You may want to reconsider. First, it is SO unbelievably loud, always, at meal times. The cacophony of noise is unsettling right off the top. Second, it's freezing in the winter. I have to wear my coat while eating. Third, the tables are too close together. Some are even lined up so close on a hi-bar booth that the people next to you literally feel like part of your group and know everything you are saying. I am a people person but this is ridiculous. These three things right here ruin a dining experience. Fourth, the food is continuing to go downhill. My taste buds are telling me they now have fillers in the beef patties, and then increased the pepper spice in them to cover up the meat flavor loss (but it doesn't). The french fries are a lower quality grade. They are nothing special to begin with but as they cool off ( usually before you get them) they degrade into cardboard. I ordered a rum and coke and it came in the short glass ( used for an old fashioned) , with ice up to the top. There was probably only a tablespoon of alcohol in it. Pretty displeased with the entire experience and its not the first time, been unhappy with the last handful of visits. Won't be back. read more

With its beautiful riverside location, inviting patio, creative cocktail menu, and upscale American cuisine, Bardenay could easily be a 4 or 5 star restaurant. I've always had good experiences in the past, but I had to dock a star or two based on a recent visit. I came to Bardenay with a party of 11 on a Monday night. I tried to call ahead and was told they do not accept reservations, which is fine, but they also do not have a host. Smaller and more casual restaurants with quick table turnovers can function just fine with customers seating themselves, but Bardenay is a pretty large facility and is generally busy every evening. The only way to get a table is to constantly walk around the entire restaurant keeping an eye on which tables you think might be done soon and then hovering around them hoping that another party doesn't get there first. This process is chaotic and uncomfortable. In addition, most restaurants have to push tables together to accommodate larger groups. Having a host to organize parties, seat people based on their arrival time, and rotate servers would streamline this process. After a 30 minute wait we found a table to fit our party. Our server was very kind, but was extremely slow to greet us, get our drinks, and take our order. However, I don't fault her personally at all because we were a large group and in observing her I could see she had more tables on the opposite side of the restaurant that were sat at the same time we were. Again, a host would be able to make sure that servers had a particular section with all their tables near one another and that they weren't being overwhelmed with multiple tables at one time. I've always enjoyed the food at Bardenay--a variety of menu items with good quality ingredients and large portions. However, during this visit we waited 90 minutes for our food and all of my party's entrees came out ice cold. In addition, our salads came out at the exact time as our main courses. I do have sympathy for the fact that the restaurant was slammed and our server was overwhelmed, but I don't have sympathy for the fact that there was no system to provide backup--no host, no food runners, etc. It was a disorganized, chaotic mess and our total time spent having dinner was 3 hours. While I recommend Bardenay for the food and great cocktails, I would avoid bringing large groups. And I do hope management considers having a host during dinner hours to provide a better system for seating guests and assisting servers. read more
