Ive met so many incredible people coming here the past year. Food is great and drinks are even better. All at very reasonable prices. All the workers are great people and good company. Very chill vibes with models and figurines when I went. Line of arcade fighters and pinball machines by the entrance. They do have a Twitch livestream that features two of the machines so that's pretty cool if you are a streamer. They had two TVs where people could play console games but those tend to be popular so you might need to wait if you're with a group. Let's cut to the chase. Chorizo fries were bomb diggity. Fries were thin and crunchy, green sauce was a bit tangy and spicy, and there could've been more chorizo. Good to share between two people, or just enough for four girls who are pretending to watch their weight. Will pass on the pineapple mango habanero wings next time, because it was too sweet and not spicy at all. I'm not much of a drinker so the Qui-Gon Gin, that was kind of like a watered down mojito, was good to me. The atmosphere is nice and fun. Friends hanging out over some drinks and food while playing Mario Kart. All games are free until you lose the controls... Also, there's a "jukebox" on the right side when you walk in. For $2/$3 you can control what music everybody has to hear. The place is connected to Mr. Matcha, and that's where the restroom is. Overall, this is a great lowkey hangout spot on a Saturday night. If you grew up with a N64 to PS4 there's a game for you. Most of the games are fighting games but there are a bunch of retro games set up too. Food, this is a bar so I was surprised with the food. From sliders to pizza this place services tasty food for a bar. It isn't your frozen food heated up. I personally go back and forth between the sliders and the pizza. Drinks, full bar! THIS IS SUCH A COOL PLACE! We came here after finding out they had a bulgogi pizza! It's a game/superhero themed bar/snackage stop where they have character inspired drinks, Asian American fusion plates, and even video games (if you'd prefer to do that). Seating is available on bar tables, the bar, and couches. We ordered the bulgogi pizza- which was really really good. There was good quality bulgogi and kimchi on the cheese and tomato sauce. I'm wondering how the pizza would be if a bulgogi marinade would be used on the base rather than pizza sauce.. regardless, it is a MUST try. We also ordered the tacos and loco moco sliders! This is a great spot! I came here with my friends on a Sunday afternoon. The bartender, Nelson, was a great host. He made a lot of conversation and was very attentive to our needs even after the bar started getting busy. For the bar itself, it's was really fun. Playing games we hadn't played since we were kids were a real throwback. When we were first deciding whether to come here or not I was a little skeptical because on the yelp there isn't many pictures of video game areas just a couple, but it looked as though it has changed since those pictures were taken. There's an Area with some couches with an N64 ready to go. Also also like 4 different areas with arcade style fighting sticks to play classic games like Marvel Vs Capcom, Street Fighter, Metal Slug and others. If you're looking for a place to drink that's out of the ordinary this is the place! I don't like the vibe of most bars but this place has a fun feel to it rather than sketchy. It wasn't too busy on a Tuesday night and there was plenty of seats available. This place is simultaneously vintage and brings you back to your child hood but is also modern and makes use of technology very well. Their menu is small as of right now but they do have a full bar so I'm sure you can order the regular drinks (Moscow mule, mojito, etc.) their fries were bomb! The bar manager Kyle was really awesome! He made our first visit extremely hospitable and gave us great recommendations. We were able to play on the n64 for about an hour and it was really fun! Whether you are looking for a cool nice hangout or looking for a venue to host a private event, Barcode is the place for you. I have experience in both situations and both experiences have been amazing and pleasant. My sisters and I went on a Friday night to check out the place and the Vibe was bright and lively. The staff were very nice and gave great recommendations on food and drinks. They also have great choices of wonderful and eclectic games set up. There are a lot of choices to play whether you like newer games or a vintage feel. This wonderful first experience solidified my decision to also choose Barcode for my husband's surprise birthday party. If you want to host a private event, go to their Barcode site to reserve your date. It has all the directions and instructions you need to set up your private event. Richard, the owner, was very prompt and courteous when responding to my emails and questions. He answered all my questions fully and in a timely manner, which is soo greatly appreciated! The surprise birthday was such a great success. We had family and friends come in from different areas of socal and for the majority of them, Barcode was a new experience. Every conversation I had that night of the surprise birthday celebration consisted of how amazing Barcode was and how they never knew such a place existed. Looking for a fun barcade, this is the darn place!! Unique cocktails, craft beer, some free games, Japanese style cab fighting games, and some pinball machines. A line does form on the weekend, so get there early before they hit capacity. They will shut the door when they're at capacity and will let you in when people leave. Make sure you have your ID's ready b/c they do be checking. The police station is literally across the street...a cop is usually posted somewhere in the parking lot at the end of the night so plan your uber or lyft accordingly. They recently added seltzers and soju ladies!! come through!! my favorite is the watermelon seltzer and that strawberry Good Day soju!! such a good price, can't pass it up! the atmosphere is always amazing. classic/nostalgic movies on the TVs as well as the big projector when you walk in (T2, Tron, Karate Kid, the Goonies, Indiana Jones, Princess Mononoke, Starship Troopers, Bloodsport-just to name a few). the collection of action figures, helmets and figurines are the owner's personal collection and are showcased on display. The collection grows so I keep looking for what's new every time! And I can not forget the big Mega Man made of floppy disks (yes 3 inch floppy disks!!) in the corner wall *fangirls* still amazes me the level of detail all around the bar; you just have to come see for yourself! the staff is always quick and friendly, just remember the line starts against the wall with the big projector screen next to the jukebox (touchtunes app if you want to play a song) while you wait to order your drinks. the kitchen always closes at 9:30pm, but the hours have been updated so now we can party longer on the weekends!! MOZZARELLA STICKS = yum! The first visit was about a year ago. We were greeted kindly by the manager and stayed for a few round of drinks. Great time! Now for this second visit I brought along my fiancé to show him this gem. For the evening, only the bar top was almost full. There was two bartenders off to the side just standing around not making any drinks or taking to anyone. They made eye contact with us and didn't even bother to let us know if it was open sitting or bother giving a smile. We decided to seat our self near the projector and TVs. It took a while for our "server" to come to the table. He's the guy with the man bun/pony tail. This guy's hospitality = NONE. Just a "what do you want" + "don't want to be here" attitude. I use to work and manage a restaurant/bar so I gave the benefit of doubt. Coming from the same perspective, I figure the guy had a bad night and he just wanted to go home. Well... yeah not the case. The rest of the night after dropping off our drinks without bothering to let us know which was which. When we try to talk to him or asked if we could get napkins, he would walk away super fast and stand near the corner of the bar. The table next to us was even wondering were he was. Eventually they had to get up themselves to get their napkins and drinks. Observing from the table, I did notice if a table had more girls he was smiling and being flirty. Kudos for trying to score numbers but you can't completely ignore tables like tonight. Come closing our bill. I had to wait awkwardly at the bar top while the manbun/pony tail guy slowly drank from his hydro flask. Cool concept, and as others have said, the decor is unique and eye-catching. There's a good amount of tables and seats at the bar, but it definitely gets crowded quickly. I came here on a Friday night after work with my boyfriend, and luckily we came before the night time rush, so we got two seats at the bar. We ordered shortly before 8 PM and were excited to try the bulgogi pizza and the tacos. Now, take my review with a grain of salt, since I didn't actually get to try the food. After waiting for half an hour, and trying to follow up with the staff, we still had no idea how long it was going to take for our food to come out. All we were told was that the kitchen was running behind, and to be honest, we weren't sure if they even put our order in. They seemed really unorganized with the ordering and serving of the food, and I have no idea how they even manage to get orders out to the correct tables, lol. Anyway, other Yelpers have said that the food/drinks here are decent, so if you have the patience, give this place a try. Cannot recommend this place enough. I'm not from the area, but if I was, I would be a regular here. The food highlighted the experience. I tried the chorizo fries, buffalo wings, raspberry bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers, and bulgogi pizza. Every plate was phenomenal. The way the fries and wings were fried kept a light, crisp texture that didn't sit heavy in your stomach like dishes at most dive bars. The jalapeño poppers were simple and had well blended flavors. The pizza was about a medium thickness and had a great mix between the cheese and toppings. Beer selection is fairly strong with some cool, rare beers that are worth a try. Every time I walk into Barcode, I'm hit by a wave of nostalgia. The floppy disks creating a mural of Megaman, the 80's-90's style arcade games, the awesome comic book figurines are such a throwback to my childhood. Barcode is the place for adults to go to feel like a kid again.... with alcohol. I was introduced to Barcode by Susan J. after a few hours of stuffing ourselves silly with crawfish. All of the staff have been nothing but sweet, accommodating, and prompt with their service. The owner, Rich, is very engaging and takes the time to know people who come into the establishment. You come in as a new patron, you leave feeling like part of the family at Barcode. The drink selection is pretty great here as well. Aside from their menu drinks, they have a strong selection of alcohol including Jameson, Macallan 12, Macallan 18, Glenfiddich, Glenlivit, Hendrix Gin, Makers Mark, and Tito's to name a few. If you're looking for whiskey, Barcode definitely has it! Finally, I had the chance to try the loco moco sliders last night. These are delicious! You have an option of getting a fried egg inside or not, my recommendation is to suck up that 120 extra calories and get the egg. Just do it, you'll thank me later. This place is so fun! So first of all, my friend hosted a birthday party here so it was kinda packed. Service: Nelson was a great guy. He was the only one making cocktails while the other guy was in charged of beers/ food orders. So I gotta give props to Nelson. Guest all around him wanting drinks and he kept up with all the orders. Great job, great drinks. Staff was super nice and helpful. I have to admit though, because it was busy, it did take longer for food to come but hey, it's understandable. Drinks: Bruce Lee Chee wasn't as sweet as I imagined. Kinda on the stronger side and less of the lychee flavor. Dr. Jones was better but it's not too big. Princess Peach was ok but also not as sweet. Shots were like $6 or something and tbh...I found that kinda pricey haha. Overall, the drinks have unique names but when it comes size, it doesn't seem too worth it. Taste wise, it was a hit or miss for me. Wasn't bad but wasn't too impressive either. Food: Buffalo chicken wing was pretty good. Slightly spicy but I was able to handle it (note that my spicy tolerance is half a bag of hot cheetos lool) Bulgogi Pizza tasted good but literally, the size is like a small 6 slice pizza. Came here with a group of friends for the first time after seeing a couple of my other friends' snapchats. They go here pretty often and always seem to have a good time, so we thought we should give it a shot. Upon arrival, we weren't greeted right away and we were pretty lost. Not sure if we should've sat down, sit by the bar, or who to talk to. I believe it was the owner that greeted us first and advised us to have a seat anywhere that's opened. He also explained the menu and the gist of the place. The bar had a few arcade games that were all functional and fun looking. Didn't go on a busy night, so a lot of the games were available to play. Overall atmosphere is really chill and the music was definitely poppin'. Featured drinks were pretty good as well. The owner told us that it's a full-service bar meaning they could make drinks that weren't on their menu as well, so if you're looking to have certain drinks or shots, they should be able to make it. All the bartenders are really nice and definitely aim to please when it comes to customer service. Unfortunately did not get to try any of the food items, but I'm sure to come back again soon, so will plan to eat something here to get the full experience. :) We actually came to Barcode in the first place to celebrate our friend's 21st birthday and the owner gave him a "Captain America" shot on the house. I left a couple minutes ago and man was I disappointed, the dude with the man bun was our "server" but he got our order without looking at us. Once we got our drinks he dropped them off and Left without saying what our drinks are. Then he comes back with our mozzarella and I was trying to ask if we can play something and he said " our switches are off so only metal slug and the Simpson's are availble." Then walks away..... I came here with some friends on a Friday evening around 5:30 and everything was pretty good! Barcode is located on Main St connected to Mr. Matcha the ice cream store. You have to use the front door; you can't cut through Mr. Matcha. Stay for the games and drinks, but don't expect great food if you're hungry. When I arrived it was still slow and there were only a handful of patrons. The bartender Nelson was very attentive and kind. I described how I liked my drinks and he made a few recommendations. FOOD - My friends arrived shortly after and placed their orders. They ordered French Fries with Garlic Parmesan, French Fries with Chorizo Aji, Cheese Corn Skillet, and Bulgogi Pizza. I ate beforehand because I knew it was only snacks and not real food. I had a few bites and both of the french fries were good - fries are hard to mess up. The pizza was disappointing, it tasted like Ragu sauce and only half was eaten. If there was suppose to be meat on the pizza, I didn't see any. My friend liked the cheese corn, but she said it was definitely from a can and something she could have made at home. SERVICE - Nelson took care of us and made sure we got everything we needed. It started to get busy/crowded, but he did a great job of making his rounds to everyone. Very attentive and he even apologize for the slow service (which was not his fault). I only saw him and another bartender the entire time. MISC - I didn't play any of the games, so I can't comment about that. I used Mr. Matcha's restrooms because I didn't see a restroom for Barcode. Came here this past Friday night to meet up with some friends. This place is located in downtown Garden Grove. Recently a new place the owner and staff are very cool and nice. The theme of this place is that of 80's movie memorabilia and video games. There is a bar and they serve food mainly small bites. On the tv they show movies from the 80's they have a gaming system with old school games the console is a super NES. They also have three table top coin op video game machines as well. I was so excited to see a new "cool" bar in Garden Grove. I set my expectations too high because upon walking in you get the vibe of a small dive bar with some game wallpapers. My god, these bartender/mixologists don't taste their own drinks before serving it. The flavors are all weird and whack, the sad part is the Bartender AGREES. He complains about the drinks himself; and WHAT THE FLYING $#@$! There's no whiskey drinks in their damn menu. Come on now guys, get with social media. WHISKEY IS IN. SUNTORY, JAMESON, ETC.... get your shit together. Worst part? Their bar chairs are NAILED TO THE GROUND. Like if you ever get packed, those chairs are going to get in the way! Barcode offers great drinks and food that are reasonably priced. My go-to drink so far has been "The Joker" All of their drinks are themed after comic book pop culture references. The spot is decorated with love for the culture and welcomes gamers, cosplayers, and artists alike. I have met some of the most wonderful people there during their special ticketed events which I highly recommend. Last but not least if you're a Street fighter enjoyer looking to play offline games then look no further. They have head2head 3rd Strike, Head2Head Capcom VS SNK 2 and Street Fighter 2!
