Staff friendliness 5 stars. Food 2.5 stars. Execution. 0. Managed to eat and drink at Barcelona wayyy for $20 last night. We order 2 glasses of wine, the spinach chickpeas tapas along with the sashito peppers and Brussel sprouts to start, right off the bat. Was starving. It's was 6:40 and we had an 8pm show to get to right around the corner. 5 mins later When the wine was delivered we ordered the chorizo and shrimp share plates at a per person charge as a main course.... 5 mins later our neighbors sat down and perused the menu. 5 mins later they placed their order for drinks and food. 5 mins later their drinks arrived. 5 mins later one of their tapas came out.....then another one 2 mins later. Then 5 mins after all of their food came out and we were almost done with our wine. I assumed the tickets were swapped. ROUGHLY 7:15 they ask to take our finished bread plates away and I ordered two more glasses of wine assuming it would be served with our dinner. Our wine arrived in one minute. I flagged our waiter down .... I pointed to the almost all empty plates of our neighbors and gave him a minute to figure It out..... All apologies and confusion. Please cancel the tapas order just serve us dinner ASAP I asked nicely. He obliged. 5 mins later our dinner arrived. Actually it was someone else's dinner but we ate it. It was Calamari and Chorizo... not shrimp. Served over toasted pasta..... I was starving. We ate it. It wasn't even good. It tasted like something a 13 year old threw together in the oven. Little pieces of spaghetti and super salty chorizo with frozen squid. Mostly stuck to the pan burnt. The burnt parts were the best. I told him to charge us for we got that we ordered..... but I would accept an apology round of drinks. Bill was $21. I gave him $40. He's gonna need the money. Barcelona in Norwalk has become my favorite place for many reasons. The service is really great all the time and the servers all seem happy to be there which make the experience so much more enjoyable. I've gone many times since I've moved to Norwalk. I used to go to the one in Stamford as well when I lived there but think overall the Norwalk one is much better. The atmosphere is similar in concept but the crowd of people you will see is a little different. The Norwalk location has younger people on average and feels like a bigger location so you feel less cramped during the busy hours. The waiters are also much nicer and more attentive in Norwalk. The red sangria has more flavor in Norwalk (you can actually taste the alcohol-which is a plus, but delicious either way). The menu changes often but there are some consistent tapas which are always good. Favorites include: -hanger steak-cooked medium rare and comes with a flavorful truffle sauce -albondigas-tender meatballs in a delicious marinara sauce that is awesome to dip with the fresh warm unlimited bread they give-so good -calamari -mushrooms with goat cheese-earthy mushrooms and tangy goat cheese -spinach and chickpea casserole -6 minute egg - a new favorite! Everything is good and when you don't like something, they tend to notice or ask and will happily correct things. I only noticed that for the first time since I have liked everything before- just wasn't a fan of one of their new specials. Highly recommend! Attended a private party here and they did an amazing job. The service was excellent, and not to mention personable, they were on top of everything from filling glasses, to cleaning up spilled wine, to making sure everyone got to sample the passed hors d'oeuvres. The food was scrumptious, the passed hors d'oeuvres consisted of steak crostini with horseradish, empanadas with guacamole, croquettes and roasted beet lettuce wraps. Piping hot bread was served to the tables along side roasted heads of garlic and dishes of olive oil. The buffet opened and offered skirt steak, bronzino fillets, roasted veggies, mashed potatoes and salad. Everything was flavorful, well balanced and cooked perfectly. The only thing they didn't account for was how quickly us Italians filled up our plates, so there was quite a lag time for the buffet items to be replenished. The room itself was lovely and perfect for about 40 people. This is a great place, not only for a private party, but from the looks of the crowds in the main restaurant for a night out. read more

If I could leave more than 5 stars. I would! We were welcomed like family at Barcelona the second we walked into the door. Ryan was so hospitable and constantly checked on how our meal was throughout the night. Logan the other manager, was incredible as well, also always checking on how we were and inviting us to try other wines! Our server Anthony was so great, always there when we wanted more food/ happy to explain the menu in thorough detail. We had the most AMAZING time at Barcelona Waypointe! Still the best local tapas, but the old girl has lost a bit of a step in the move to Waypointe. Pre prep of the tapas makings has taken away the fresh, hot and exciting cast iron food presentation of the past, now on a white plate at room temperature. The manager Jordan also appeared to be a bit distracted, forgetting several promises made to us, including finding a table after we started our meal at the bar. A few co-workers and I decided to try this place. The results for the food quality were mixed. However, the service was pretty good considering the fact that they were packed. I tried the following: Potato Tortilla - simply amazing Spinach - Chickpea Casserole - was great Paella - extremely salty and really difficult to eat (wouldn't recommend) Pepper Rubbed Filet Mignon - They definitely put too much black pepper which overpowered the taste. Also, they were too many fried onions on this thing. Very small portion. (wouldn't recommend) Nutella cheesecake - was ok and edible. Had an amazing date night last night, thanks to our first trip to Barcelona wine Bar in Norwalk, CT!!!!! The food was so delicious: from the Spanish ham, to the mussels, to the superb manchego cheese and Spanish ham croquettes, to the trout pâté (a very nice dish that our waiter treated us to)......to the AMAZING wine, nicely recommended by their lovely wine connoisseur (almost all of their wine bottles are 50% off on Sundays - we had 3 bottles).... To the complimentary bread and oil....to the awesome free live music!!!!! We had friends meet us for dessert and wine...so so good!! The flan and the hazelnut crepes were my absolute faves!!!!! Now, to probably the best thing ever: their outstanding service!!!! From the manager to the waiter (Oscar) to the food server to the busboy!!! Everyone was very welcoming, attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly but always very respectful!!! The entire experience was outstanding, to say the least!! This was my first time here. The Tapas was amazing. The waiters and waitresses were very nice and accommodating. They had masks on and gloves and all the tables were a good distance apart. It was a nice night but just in case they did have plenty of heaters if you wanted to sit outside which I prefer. Another good part is it's free parking in the garage. I will be back. read more

I must say we visited the old Barcelona numerous times and I was not a fan. We wanted to try this new location and it all went very well. I called to confirm the reservation for my husband's birthday and the manager was so nice. He even said "don't worry, we'll take care of everything" when I asked if they had something that could take a candle for the "Happy Birthday". We have a daughter with a load of allergies and they took a menu into the kitchen and the sous chef actually highlighted what she could eat based on her allergies. All of the food was delicious and very authentic and the sangria was so good we had 2 pitchers of it. All in all, they made his birthday very special- at the end a giant wood slab with 3 desserts and a candle came out and they helped us sing happy birthday. We were impressed. Exceptionally flavorful and fresh food offered with a wonderfully interesting menu. From the cocktails to the tapas and the Spanish desserts, you cannot go wrong. We ordered about a dozen different dishes and were blown away. Everything was out of this world! As if that's not enough to come to this restaurant, the servers were all extremely friendly and go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need and that you're happy with all the dishes. Their recommendations were fantastic and they all seemed to have a great knowledge of the dishes, the spices used, etc. How refreshing to find a place like this! When you receive the tab, you aren't sitting there thinking - gee...was this meal worth that???? It's more like, this was magnificent! I can't believe it doesn't cost more! :) However, I hope their prices don't escalate, of course, but it's amazing to me that I've eaten at other places twice as expensive with such mediocre food. Barcelona hits it out of the park! We will back for sure and very soon! Not gonna lie, kinda disappointed. This new Barcelona is beautiful and, with its extensive patio area, will be a home run in the warmer months. My review would have been 5 stars if not for the social hour (happy hour) menu. I frequented their former Norwalk location often, and always talked up how great their happy hour menu was. They always had some of their best tapas on the menu including croquettas, meatballs, potata....I'm not even sure these items are even on the menu any longer, and they are definitely not offered on the happy hour menu. There are about three hot and four cold items to choose from, which might be fine for some, but not for those of us who thoroughly enjoyed the old menu. This new location is stunning, and I'll always enjoy their fine selections of wine, but won't be back for social hour. There are too many other great alternatives in the area to choose from. Sedona, The Spread, Washington Prime, Tablao, just to name a few. EDIT: I have been back to Barcelona since my initial review and am happy to report that some of our favorite tapas are back on the social hour menu! The food here is and always has been amazing, but their customer service is outstanding as well. We love Barcelona but last night our experience was less than stellar. We ordered takeout and they forgot one of our items. We also ordered the cheeseboard and we were surprised that nothing came with it. We were expecting bread at the very least. When we went to enjoy the cheese board, we bit through big chunks of foil all throughout one of the cheeses. Really made us rethink our next trip to Barcelona. It's too bad because it's not our typical experience there and we want it to survive through Covid. Not sure what happened but foil in your food is a big (and potentially hazardous) mistae for any restaurant but especially a higher end, higher priced establishment like this. read more

On 7/22, we went to Barcelona in Norwalk and it was mighty disappointing. In fact, the quality has slid since I had been raving about it from the past couple of years (and this was both Stamford and Norwalk). We were 3, and one of us ordered a Malbec, and that person, who loves wine said that it smelled bad, and tasted it, and it was bad. I called the server who proceeded in looking at it and sipping from that glass in front of us agreed it wasn't good, and replaced it. The problem here is if the customer says it (wine in this case) doesn't taste or small right, remove it and replace it. Analyze it off the floor. If you are going to a wine bar there is no reason why a customer should be served a bad glass since the bottles are all supposed to be vetted by a sommelier. A bad bottle of wine is as far as you can go when reviewing a wine bar, and yes, we all ate at 10 different tapa dishes, octopus to the steak, potatoes etc... They were average, no more wow factor here. The bad wine at a wine bar is inexcusable. Why is Barcelona going downhill with its wine and food? This isn't a reflection of the service itself, although I wouldn't have charged for replacing a bad glass of wine. read more

I love the floor plan here, everything is open and the open kitchen definitely keeps you intrigued while you're sitting at the bar. This location did a surprise opening on a Saturday night; it was very, Beyonce- Lemonade of them and I loved it! Needless to say, the place was a packed house regardless of an announcement. The menu was similar to the other locations, but I could tell that this restaurant is trying to differentiate themselves with the menu separation into categories. There are some innovative dishes on this menu I hadn't tried at other locations- such as the bone marrow and polenta, which were both incredible. Management and staff has also been taken up a notch from what I can see. Seth, thank you for keeping my wine flowing every night I am there. My headache the following days salutes you! read more

Soooo...while this IS Barcelona Norwalk, this should have been reported as closed, and started as a new page. It's actually now considered Barcelona Waypointe (the corporation calls it that themselves.) The space is great--it's probably the biggest bar of all the Barca's and the truly open kitchen is awesome. They have a heated outdoor patio (much like Atlanta.) We were able to snag two seats at the bar and were promptly taken care of! According to the staff, they are trying to be a little different than the other Barcas. Not sure how--menu was pretty much the same. We ordered a meat paella that is actually off menu (ask, they will usually make you whatever--the Barcelona Paella, which is a seafood/meat combo is awesome) and the calamari al plancha. Now. Usually that calamari on on point, no matter what Barca I go to. However--it came out tasting burnt! I was so disappointed. However...they made it up to us by bringing out an amazing bone marrow dish--seriously, I could have sucked down 4 more of those sweet babies. Paella was on point as usually--I don't know what Barcelona does to their chicken, but please, never stop. Why haven't I been here in so long? Wife and I grabbed a couple barstools on a Friday night. Place was hopping. Didn't slow service down at all. A couple cocktails, Charcuterie platter, several tapas dishes, a bottle of wine - all good. My favorite tapas ordered was calamari. The restaurant has been consistently good for decades now. The service here was nothing short of stellar!! Our waiter was super nice and super courteous. A drink came out (apparently prepared the wrong way) and he offered to have it made again and let me keep the other drink! Also, some of our tapas took forever to come out and as a courtesy, they comped us for those late tapas. And to too it all off, the food was AMAZING! The staff was super attentive and the teamwork displayed between the various staff members was on point!! Its like they all knew what we ordered and what was late. They made sure that we were enjoying our time there and that we were being taken care of at each moment of our dining experience. We never felt rushed! The ambiance and decor was nice to boot! Overall, the vibes at this specific Barcelona are a million times better than at the Stamford location. Also, hats off to who ever was DJin'...the music was fire!! Service, Delicious Food and Amazing Drink Selection... This is a favorite place for me and my friends within Norwalk. The tapas are very well thought out with an amazing explosion of flavor... I have been there 4 times in the past 2 months and still haven't tried everything. The desserts are amazing as well... even given a free glass of Sherry to try with a suggested dessert partnering by our server! Didn't enjoy the partnering but was amazed at the fact that the servers were going out of their way to make sure we were happy. We have even brought our kids here and they have enjoyed trying the exotic flavors/ food (who thought a 12 y/o would try Octopus?) and the staff/ servers went out of their way to make sure they were enjoying what they were sampling. The place is packed between 5-8 pm. Not the best choice for an intimate, quiet dinner but for a night out with friends it's THE place. You will have to wait even if you make a reservation. I use to love Barcelona, but the pandemic have greatly reduced the customer service. Even though all the staff were wearing masks, they expect us to order everything online, via our cell phones. And they won't check on us to see how things are going unless we remember to flip a card on our table, I was really disappointed. This place is crazy crowded and noisy but the food is very good and service is decent, given how busy it was when we were there on a Thursday night. It's a bit pricey and the food took forever (server may have forgotten to fire the entrees) but in the end we had a great time here. I would go back. My wife and I had an Anniversary dinner here. The restaurant was gorgeous and our waiter was quite good. However, a few issues we had. 1. It was a Tuesday night and the thumping bass laden music was loud in the dining areas. We get that club vibe and love it when appropriate, but on a mellow Tuesday evening with no one in the bar it seemed off and forced. 2. The tapas overall is good. Some dishes excelled more than others but that would be a matter of taste. The Porkbelly was fattier/chewier than expected. 3. We also ordered the seafood Paella which was indeed a disappointment. One prawn in the entire two person entree? That felt awfully stingy when other seafood (mussels, calamari) was good but sparingly given...a lot of rice though of course. Overall, a nice place but the food was not up to NY/LA or even Hartford/Stamford standards. These days we expect that. On the positive side, the Barcelona in Fairfield seems to have a much better chef as we have been there a few times and enjoyed it very much. read more

So I use to be a HUGE fan of all things Barcelona when it was in Sono. We honestly ate there a few times a month. I am disappointed by all the changes it has undergone since going to the Waypointe. The menu is much smaller and no longer has stand out items like their cauliflower cazuela (delicious) or the fried calamari. I also use to be a big fan of their sangria. The past two times I have gone both with a group of friends and then back with my husband, I left feeling like I would not come back. My husband and I got two different paellas to try and did not really "love" either one. The classic one had way too many garbanzo beans in it, almost as much as the rice which was off putting. The drinks were okay, food okay but nothing I would run to come back for. The ambiance and all the different places to sit are nice and the wait staff is great. I just don't love the food or drinks which is the main point to going to a restaurant. Sorry Barcelona, maybe bring back some old menu items. read more

This is the third Barcelona restaurant I have been to because I think they are so amazing! On Sunday's they have half of bottles of wine so we ordered a Riesling and Rose which were both amazing. The hangar steak and Brussel sprouts are always a go-to for me. We typically order at least 2-3 orders of the hangar steak because the truffle vinaigrette is great! This was my first time having the pork tenderloins and I absolutely loved it. The meat was soft and the sauce was delicious. The patatas bravas were also good, although I would have liked the potatoes themselves to have been seasoned as well. I was disappointed with the prawns and shrimp because (as pretentious as it might sound) they were too seafood-y. In the past, the shrimp I've had at previous Barcelona restaurants were seasoned in a garlic aioli; however, it was lacking for this order. I will note that this was my first time ever trying prawns and they just were not for me. We also ordered broccoli rabe, which I also don't like but decided to try, and it unfortunately didn't change my mind about whether or not I like broccoli rabe. For dessert, I had the hazelnut crepe (which I have had previously). It had a filling, which was honestly too much for me, and a side of ice cream. The filling was too overwhelming but when I took some out, the crepe was soft and delicious. The service was amazing, as always. Our waiter, Joe, was helpful when deciding which wines to pick and giving us recommendations for BarTaco. Although I was a little disappointed with some of the food I ordered during my visit, I still think the atmosphere of Barcelona and the food are incredible. I love Barcelona Wine Bar in Fairfield and New Haven. This is my first experience with the Norwalk location. I placed an order online because I was on a tight schedule. I arrive 25 minutes after the order is placed. The hostess or manager (not sure which is his position) says he'll go check on it and I hear him telling the chefs to start my order. I then wait another 25 minutes for the order to be cooked. Never offered a seat at the bar, glass of water - nothing. And the entire time the hostess/manager is on his phone and computer between greeting guests. Hard pass. Just go to Sedona Taphouse or a different Barcelona location. read more

Barcelona is a great place to go for wine and tapas. They have a great selection of tapas although the portions are quite small so be prepared to order about 3-4 tapas dishes per person. They have a good wine selection and the environment is friendly to groups who want to have a casual wine night paired with good food. I had their cucumber and feta cheese salad which was very refreshing and I also found to be a unique combo that worked. Their hot tapas are also delicious, particiularly their fried potato cake. This place is a bit pricey though, as one would expect for tapas so that is something to keep in mind when ordering dishes of tapas. Overall, it's a great place and I would recommend it. read more

De-freakin-licious! I love Barcelona, I've been to several of their locations and I am always blown away. This trendy SoNo hotspot meets or exceeds expectations. Most recently, I came here to have a light dinner and a beverage or two (or six) with a friend. I was able to anchor myself at the bar, which is difficult enough to do on a Saturday night, but I was also able to wrangle a second barstool before my gorgeous dinnermate arrived. I like eating at the bar. I think that it's a general rule for me, I would rather eat at the bar than at a table. I'm not exactly sure why, maybe because it's more social. Furthermore when I'm seated at a dinner table, I feel like it's kind of weird how you're just staring at either the other person or your plate. Anyhow, I have only eaten at a proper dinner table at this restaurant once, I found it to be a bit cramped. When I'm in Manhattan, I don't mind cramped dining, but in CT... I mind it. Odd, right? Yeah, I know I just said that I don't want to be cramped, but I would rather eat at the bar on a Saturday night... yeah, I know. *The beverages are tasty and served promptly by an attentive barstaff. While it's perfectly okay to order your bar staples, keep in mind that they have a boatload of signature beverages from red and white sangria, margaritas of all origins (I like the blood orange), and... and... and... the drink list goes on and on. Their wine selection should meet most discriminating expectations. *The food is out of this world. I've eaten so many new things on the menu simply because they are tapas. I don't know about you, but if I want to try something new, I don't particularly want to order it for dinner because if I don't like it, I don't want to have a plate full in front of me. I've been to the other Barcelona(s) in Stamford and New Haven and I always enjoyed their food and impressed that although they're a "chain" the consistency is always on point. This was my first time visiting the So.NO location and for their happy hour. My friend and I had a girls night and it was great to sit at the bar and enjoy great drinks and food at such great prices. And impeccable service! Lil black book cocktail: was incredibly delicious. Oscar was great at making these! Pork empanadas: bread had a crispy crust with a very delicate center, it melted along w/ the pork stuffing and just mushed so lovely w/ the sauce that was served w/ it. Chicken pintxo: was fried to golden perfection. Crispy edges and tender and juicy (breast) meat. Seasoned well and even better w/ the dipping sauce served w/ it, olive oil, lemon, chopped fresher herbs and spice to go along w/ it. Fish croquettes: which where on the house since they ran out of squid pintxo. Crispy on the outside soft on the inside. Didn't have a strong fish taste too which I liked and their tarter sauce. They put in fresh chopped chives and it gave a refreshing taste to it! My only regret is I didn't take any pics! read more
