It has been years since my first visit to Barcelona but I had fond memories of the food. While in town we decided to return for dinner with a group of 5. We had reservations and were promptly seated upon arrival. Our server was an exceptional woman who effortlessly checked in on us and gave us a rundown of the menu. They have a beautiful patio but unfortunately rain would not allow us to sit outside. The interior ambiance is very fitting for the restaurant, and we found it quite pleasant. Their menu has tapas and full entrees, our party stuck with entrees on this visit except for two Caesar salads which had a very tasty dressing. Two ordered the monk fish, two ordered the steak and I ordered the lamb. The monk fish got excellent reviews and the steak was found to be solid. They came with spinach and a creamy sauce that definitely elevated the dish along with some potatoes. The lamb had amazing flavor and definitely was a nice dish overall. We did have a mix up with one of the entrees but our waitress and the manager (I assume) immediately took care of it and made us feel like true guests. Their customer service is fantastic. Overall a great option when in Columbus. I would certainly return when I am in town again. read more

Giving four stars based on ambience and service and my cocktail. The food (paella) was a little disappointing based on the cost. So to begin the host stand workers were very nice and friendly. They let me know straight away that there weren't any patio tables available which was fine but hopefully next time...or maybe I can make a reservation for one. The interior of the restaurant is gorgeous however. Sleek and colorful with local art hanging on the walls and I think for sale as well. Jade brought my water...and if she happens to read this...the name of the song is Home by Edward Sharpe and the magnetic zeros. Our server was Rose who was attentive and friendly and did a wonderful job. We also enjoyed talking to her about food and baking and cooking. The paella tasted good but was dry. Both versions we had. In the past when I've had paella it's a little brothy and these were not. The flavor was there though. Also...the bread was amazing! Paella was good. Creme Catalan is to die for. Prices are a little steep, especially for drinks, but worth it for a special night out.

I was honestly disappointed in Barcelona. We had a good dining experience (staff were lively and attentive), but I do think the food was lacking in quality and flavors. The food was generally disappointing in my opinion (not sure if I just hyped myself up or what) and we probably would not revisit. Started off with two drinks - margarita and French pear, both were only okay. For the French pear, it was overloaded with syrup. I am not a master drink mixer, but I do think the ratio was off - it tasted like it was a random drink that's put together without much thought. The bread was cold and stale, the sour dough flavor was there. I don't really get the dipping that came with it - it basically tasted like banana ketchup (sweet ketchup) in olive oil. Not my thing. Calamari Fritos - I normally love calamari - love it with aioli, love it plain, love it with marinara sauce, but this calamari Fritos did not excite me. The sauce (soubise + chimichurri) did not really have much flavors, the calamari itself was rather flavorless as well, so I felt like I was chewing rubber covered in breading. Artichoke Fritos - probably my favorite of the night but still not close to what I would recommend. Paella Barcelona - the seafood was undoubtedly fresh, but I don't think the seafood was cooked with the paella. I think they used the same base for all paella and just add in whatever toppings you ordered in the end when they are ready to be served (this is only my speculation), so there wasn't much seafood flavor in the rice. The paella base was decent though, would not mind eating again. Overall I think it is a niche restaurant, but the restaurant did not wow us. It was rather disappointing because the atmosphere of the restaurant was very lively and fun! read more

I have had a lot of people recommend this place to me, and I'm glad I finally got to check it out! The ambiance and environment exceeded my expectations. Service was really great. We ordered a bunch of tapas and dessert. Mussels, flank steak, potatoes and the braised beef short ribs. Loved all except for the flank steak. It was mostly fat and very hard to chew, although I'm not sure if that's the way the dish is supposed to be. I think a few bad mussels made it to the table and the sausage could've been cooked better, but loved the sauce. The braised beef was my absolute favorite... blue cheese cream sauce was delicious and they tore right apart. Yum. Potatoes were crispy and served hot! We got the ice cream and brownie/cake for dessert. Forget the actual name bc dessert menu was verbal, but it was delicious! Maybe a bit soft, but again, not positive if it's supposed to be that way. Just personal preference for me. Good espresso martini but could've been better... shout out to the sous chef Kayla Holbrooks. Great person who I know works very hard. Overall I loved Barcelona and I'm looking forward to trying it out in the summer, as well.. if I can wait that long :-) read more

Myself and three other friends went to Barcelona on a Saturday afternoon around 4:05, five minutes after they opened. We asked to sit on the patio, we were sat in the enclosed by plastic patio area and when I asked if we could be in the open air part I was told no by the host, which really put a awful taste in my mouth before even eating anything. I work in the industry and where I work we also have a nice patio and if the guest ask to be somewhere else you give the guest what they want. It's not like i was asking for a 2 top to take over a 4 top. if they don't take reservations outside then who are they reserving the nicer open air tables for? We ended up spending $400. The food was amazing. Max our server was great! The bottles of wine we ordered were delicious. The plastic enclosed patio was stuffy. Then when we were leaving there were 3 people (including the host that told me no) standing at the host stand and not one of them said 'bye' or 'enjoy your evening'. Like I said I work in the industry and the host stand is the first and last contact with the guest. They should probably figure that out. read more

Was excited to try Barcelona again, it had been years! We made a reservation just to be safe. Parking isn't bad, I parked next to Schiller Park for free and just walked a little bit. My friend and I decided to split several tapas to sample a couple different dishes, plus a sangria carafe. I'm normally not a fan of Caesar salad because it's typically too plain, but this one really impressed me! It was very flavorful and had a little anchovy on top. They even split it onto two plates for us to make it easy. I don't think I've ever had mussels and they were really good! Not a weird texture, very easy to eat and good flavor. We needed a little more bread for this, and had to ask for a spoon tho for the broth. I would definitely order again. The calamari did not impress me. It was too chewy and floury. The dipping sauce was flavorful though which helped. Disappointing because others have said it was so good, maybe a bad batch? The lamb meatballs at first I wasn't sure about and they were room temperature but they grew on me as I continue to eat them. They had a nice addition of nuts on top for some crunch. The sangria was really good! I love sangria though. The two of us could not finish the carafe, as the server said it held about 5 drinks total and we each had maybe 2. I was feeling it! Service was pretty good! Very attentive and nice. We had a few requests with getting more spoons and bread and they were quick to accommodate. Definitely a place I would like to return. read more

We specifically chose this restaurant for their Happy Hour which is from 4pm-7pm on Wednesdays at the bar only. There is a happy hour a selection of $5 drinks and appetizers. We had a couple Cosmo's and Martini's well worth the $5. I cannot recall the names of the appetizers we had but one of them was mussels in a tomato soup with sausage which I say wad quite subpar. The second appetizer was some kind of artichoke salad with pickled onions and raisins if I recall correctly, this was ok not something I'd order a second time. Although the mask mandate has been dropped the staff are still wearing mask and asking for your name and number for contact tracing as you walk in the door. Our bartender was very friendly and explained a few menu items to us that we weren't quite sure about. I definitely enjoyed happy hour at this place and would love to come back for another round of Cosmo's and Martini's! read more

Definitely a cute place that is great for get together! I went here recently to celebrate my friends birthday. The wait staff was very attentive and welcomed us as soon as we arrived. We first started off with a pitcher of sangria that was delicious and strong. We then got appetizers to share for the table (all are not pictured). The table got paella which I heard was delicious. Food is great, unforutanetely at the end of my meal at the bar I was having a great conversation with the chef, who was greeting guests, when the manager came up and accused me of taking pictures in the restaurant. I said, yes, i took some pictures, is there a problem with that?. He asked me to show him the camera pics and one of the 3 pics was an accidental video about 1 second long as the camera was in the wrong setting, it showed the bar in front of me. He carried on about it and pretty much ruined my otherwise quite delightful evening as his rudeness was heated. A true ahole. I got my check, paid and will never visit there again. Im 75 years old and cannot remember ever running into this rudeness ever. If they dont want any pictures taken in the restaurant make that clear on the menu, the door, whatever. read more

We enjoyed our first dinner at Barcelona tonight and will be putting this lovely restaurant on our all-time favorites list. First, the service was amazing (thanks to David!) Three of us split various tapas and entrees including the scallops (I could've licked the plate clean), the braised beef with the most incredible sauce ever, the lamb paella with an amazing red sauce, addictive mussels, olives, potatoes with another delicious sauce and a couple desserts. The atmosphere makes you feel like you're in Spain with the authentic decor and art. The manager was equally lovely. We can't wait to return! read more

We went here for my fiancé's birthday dinner, wonderful atmosphere and service was incredible. Our server, Alex, did a great job explaining the menu and their recommendations were spot on. We were able to get a table for two without having to wait. As we walked through the inside of our restaurant, it was a very lively vibe. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals and conversations. It made me very excited to start our experience! We ended sitting in the covered patio. I actually really liked our corner spot of the patio because we got to view the whole restaurant and people enjoying their time. However, the decor outside through me off. It is March and there there was Christmas decorations everywhere. Christmas lights and bows in their trees. As we are finally getting to warm weather and sunshine, I didn't want to feel reminded of the winter. We started out with the bread and salmon tapas. Absolutely delicious! I would have to say, I wish they gave us a little bit more crispy bread that came with the tapas. If we didn't order the bread appetizer, we wouldn't have had enough. I just really enjoyed putting the salmon and spread onto something. We then ordered a Caesar salad and paella Barcelona. Honestly, I was so excited to try the paella from all the reviews. Nothing but good things to say about this establishment! Went here for dinner with a group of friends and the staff were incredibly attentive and kind all evening. The sangria is fabulous and you can get pitchers to comfortably provide for 4 people. They have a variety of tapas available and all that we tried were fabulous. This is an updated review since opening after Coronavirus. I was so happy to receive the email Barcelona was opening! We booked a table immediately. An email with Instructions diners were to follow was sent. All diners must be present before being seated. Parties are to wait outside with a mask until the hostess comes. Once at your table you can remove your mask. We had the option to sit out on the gorgeous patio or inside, of course we chose outside and were lucky enough to sit right by the fountain. The staff were obviously very happy to be back and it showed in their attentive care. The Manager was walking around checking everyone was happy. I made reservations for a late Saturday night dinner at Barcelona. On arrival, I waited for about 10 minutes at the valet stand before finally giving up and finding my own parking. Service was very good as was the atmosphere. We ordered some tapas and a different paella for each. The tapas were great, while the paella was just OK. I've heard this said so many times in the past, and can confirm it was disappointing. The overall experience was decent and way overpriced, with mediocre paella. I will probably come back at some point, but it is unlikely i would order the paella again. read more

I can't begin to describe how happy I was with my experience last night. We sat on the patio which was gorgeous and full of plants, with a really nice water feature. Our server, Russ took excellent care of us he was patient and kind and also very knowledgeable about the menu and the extensive wine and cocktail list (we ordered a few of each!) we started with charcuterie and a Caesar salad and I will be back for those alone. But then we also ordered mejillones, camarones Al Ajillo, costillas, elote, and arrachera. Chef Nate stopped out to say hello and it really made the evening all that more special. I had the mushrooms and peppers and he had the sweet potato fries as an appetizer. For our entrees he had a grilled cheese and I had a ham and cheese. The food was excellent, it's the service that wasn't good. Appetizers came out at an appropriate time, but it took almost 20 minutes to get our entrees. How long does it take to make a grilled cheese and ham and cheese? By the time the food came out my fiancé had to go back to work so we immediately got our check and a box and were out the door. I had always wanted to spend a warm summer's evening in German Village, and what better reason is there to enjoy Barcelona's outdoor seating patio than to celebrate an anniversary . . . After a slight error in communication among the staff, we had quickly learned of their excellent service (a party had mistakenly been seated before us, so the wait for a table outdoors took longer than usual) --we did not at all mind the free cocktails --thank you, Miguel :-) The ambience of the outdoor patio area set the scene for my ideal evening dining experience-- freeing, intimate, and easy. The sourdough bread and garlic tomato dipping oil is flavorful, as well as the patatas bravas (well-seasoned). Absolutely loved our dinner! Barcelona now has outdoor winter cabanas so you are completely separated from other guests. We came here for drinks and tapas in the afternoon and also came back for an evening dinner with the kids a couple weeks later. The scallops have never been taken off the menu and after tasting them I can see why! The other paellas were amazing and even the New York strip steak was done perfectly. Single serving paella portions are HUGE, so pace yourself. Even the bread was delightful. Our server, Paul, was very kind and attentive. Will definitely return and would recommend this place to anyone wanting to dine out safely during COVID. I cannot say enough good things about this place! We made reservations the week before for a "trial run" to decide if we wanted to have our rehearsal dinner here and it was such a great experience! Extremely attentive and helpful waitstaff and Patrick, the general manager, went above and beyond to make us feel special when we brought our families in the night before the wedding. The paella de mariscos is a crowd pleaser (and even makes great leftovers if you can't finish it all!), the sangrias are great but the white with the fruit purée (blueberry) was our favorite and I still think about the empanada to this day! Just as cool ambiance inside as there is out on their awesome patio (first come, first served). Their menu rotates seasonally so I can't wait to come back and try what's new!
