Stopped by this place after passing it too many times. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich with Mac & cheese, a half rack of hickory ribs, and banana pudding. We also ordered each of their sauces, three total. The pulled pork was amazing, tender and with good taste especially with the peach sauce. The max & cheese tasted homemade and probably was some of the best I've had since moving south. Now the ribs were the best, could eat those all the time. They don't even need extra sauces. The BBQ Stop is the best BBQ place I have ever been too. Their homemade sauces are perfect. Honey mustard is my favorite. Their peanut butter pie is to die for. All of the employees are so nice and helpful every time I go in there. They also support other local companies in the area - one of the companies I work for and we couldn't ask for better support. I was disappointed that I ordered a rib plate but was served shredded pork. I was told when I got home and called that I should have said 4 bones. The menu has option for a rib plate ( 4) bones so I ordered a rib plate. This was my first time going there so how would I know the unwritten rules. The best, freshest barbecue in the area. The meat is nice and tender, not dried out and burned. It's flavored so well you don't even need barbecue sauce. It's worth mentioning though this place has award winning sauce. Their going to ask you which sauce you want. Just tell them you want them ALL because you really have to try them all. We are BBQ people. We constantly randomly Google "best BBQ" and driving there. That's how we found ourself driving an hour today just to eat at this place. My husband was craving brisket so I Googled "best brisket in Birmingham" and this place came up. Pros... -The service was fantastic. Like almost on the verge of annoying how much they check on you and talk to you. -The BBQ sauces were fantastic! We sampled them all. -The smoked wings may have been the best wings I've ever had. They were crispy on the outside and moist and smoked on the inside. -The brisket was delicious and sliced just right. -The ribs I loved. They were fall off the bone tender and needed no sauce the dry rub was perfect. My husband said they were to tender and needed more pull. Cons... -The sides. The Mac and cheese was terrible. It had no cheese flavor and was almost white. The onion rings are just standard frozen onion rings. The potato salad was ok. It's a mayo dill recipe rather than a southern recipe. -The bathroom. Make sure you "go" before you go. You literally have to walk through the kitchen to go to the restroom. It's in the kitchen. Like there was a man making banana pudding 3 ft from the bathroom. Outside of Birmingham in the town of Clay, is a BBQ place worth stopping by. The BBQ stop sits like 10 people plus can sit some outside. My entree today was pork and rib plate with beans and slaw. The pork has some kind of rub to it and I liked it better than the ribs. For the most part, the pork was moist and tender but had a few dry parts to it. The ribs were ok. However, the beans and slaw were wonderful. The beans seemed like they were made from one of the sauces and we're spicy. The slaw was cut fine and mayo-base. On a past visit, I had potato salad and mac and cheese. Neither was anywhere close to good as the beans and slaw. The best part of the BBQ stop was the 6 homemade BBQ sauces. Their main BBQ sauce is called Southern Peach and it is wonderful! This is a great sauce with a hint of sweetness and there will never be another place that has a sauce like it. The other sauces are a Hickory version of the Southern Peach, a fantastic Carolina Vinegar sauce that is not runny at all, a hotter version of it, a white sauce, and a Texas Hot. The service was really nice and sweet tea was a little too peachy for me. If you love BBQ sauces, The BBQ stop is perfect for you. The pork was pretty good and the ribs are all right, but the sauces are what's worth coming for. read more

A great place to get great BBQ. They have a fantastic pork sandwich - I prefer the Jumbo! Several BBQ sauce choices are available but I like the Hickory Heaven best. And they have really great fries. Seating is limited but they do have covered outdoor seating that is more than adequate. read more

Anytime we start craving bbq, this is where we come. It's always fantastic! Pulled pork is always perfect - juicy & so flavorful that sauce isn't really needed but I've become addicted to their Southern Peach sauce. Yummy! My hubs won't get ribs anywhere else. He says they're the best he's ever had. We've also gotten burgers there and now they are my gold standard for burgers too. The mac & cheese is excellent! Some of the best I've eaten out. Fries, green beans, baked beans, baked potatoes, & salads are all great, too! If you're in the area (or even a short ride away), TRY this place! This is the location of the old Legends BBQ, and maybe I'm just disappointed that Barbecue Stop isn't Legends, but I was quite disappointed. They have so many sauce options that are nearly the same. My family and I have enjoyed everything that we have had from there. Ribs that fall off the bone, chicken wings that full of flavor to hamburgers that are juicy and filling. All of the meat has flavor even without sauce. The sides are very good personal favorite is Mac and cheese never have had the green beans though. The sauces are homemade nothing from the bottle.
