I have to rewrite this review because honestly when I wrote it I had not met the manager Mario which was extremely attentive and yes did everything to make us happy with free desserts for the table and more.!! We did loved those desserts they were super delicious and it's not fair to rate this restaurant only by a couple of mistake in a crazy busy night. I been wanting to rewrite this since I walked out of the restaurant and now I finally have the time. The gelatos here are amazing and the cannolis very fresh but the creme bulee was perfect so good.!! The service and the desserts deserve 5 starts, I am giving them 4 because the food didn't work but I will defenetly be back and give it another try. Great location and the outdoor seating is so great at night. The only issue with Barbatella is that the competition is so stiff for Italian in Naples! Food here is good. We come here a few times during season to mix it up and it's well worth the visit. Branzino is good. Pasta dishes are good. read more

Popped in for a late night drink with the boyfriend. The service was fast and friendly. The restaurant has a very cool modern vibe with a high tech wine dispensary system at the bar. Took a family group of 5. Looking for a good meal and to catch up with one another. Three got pizza. Wood fired but they were burnt and bitter. The margarita pizza was nothing special and the pastrami on the other pizza wasn't even cut. Big long pieces made it hard to eat. Other food was okay. Noise was so loud that we could only talk with the person next to us. Service was good but could not over come the mediocre food quality. They asked us to leave after we finished so they could have the table. read more

Four of us had dinner at Barbatella last month. We sat outside so we could hear each other so that was fine. The food was average. What was really disturbing is that a waiter dumped half a glass of red wine on me. He was not the waiter for our table* I think someone might have bumped him and it spilled on my dress and sweater. The manager saw the whole thing - as did everyone at my table and the table next to us. There was no disagreement as to what transpired. The manager Mario Mellusi gave me his card and told me to send the cleaning bill. I was more than a little concerned that the red wine would come out of my dress. Fortunately the dress was mostly bright orange and my sweater was dark. I got all the wine out but obviously the dress had to go to the dry cleaner. When I got home - I sent everything to the cleaner and all is fine with my outfit. I emailed Mr Mario at the email address on his card - office@Barbatella Naples.com and sent a photo of the dress as well as the bill for cleaning ($20). No response. I emailed again and got no response. I called Mr. Mario and he said he would take care of it. Well he didnt. While $20 is not going to put me out of business- frankly I was LIVID that I had a glass of wine dumped on me - and Mr Mario could have comped something that night and I probably would have forgotten about it. Very good! The menu was great for a family of 5, ranging all ages and one with a gluten allergy! Skip the gluten free pizza (doughy) and definitely do the grilled grouper. Fantastic! Also the death by chocolate cake was outstanding and lived up to the name and description! read more

All I can say is bring a sweater!!! We were sat at a table that had air blasting on us and it was so cold that I was uncomfortable for the entire meal. We asked the hostess to be reseated, but she didn't seem too concerned with how uncomfortable we were and said we would have to wait to be re-seated. Our server was kind and asked for the air to be turned down, but informed us that it wasn't possible. He admitted that it's a problem every night, which is annoying that it hasn't been fixed. We were given bread, but there wasn't an oil on our table. Our water glasses, which were extremely tiny, were only filled once and we had to ask for them to be refilled. I just think that when you're spending $200 in food, it's fair to expect a certain level of service, which includes minor things like refilling water glasses. I'm a server at a small, inexpensive cafe, and I am constantly walking around with a water pitcher. The calamari had way more fried artichokes than actually calamari, which was disappointing. However, the lemon aioli for dipping was very good! Even though this was out of the restaurant's control, we were seated next to two large tables with obnoxiously loud guests and we could barely hear each other. LOVE this place. Inside is gorgeous, the emerald green walls, the funky chandeliers, the pretty booths and long, community table are so fantastic. Classy Italian, with a bit of funky flare. We usually sit outside because, well it's beautiful in Naples, the temperature is that perfect temperature (besides the oppressive summer months) that feels like it's kissing your skin. And the outside patio has a wonderful fountain and sculpture, and every seat feels like your sitting in a piazza in Italy. The food is as wonderful as the decor. We always get the charred octopus, it's earthy, and exploding with sweetness which is matched perfectly with the intense char flavor. Then we get their Margherita pizza, the crust is thin, the tomato, mozzarella and basil are all high quality so you can taste the authenticity. You close your eyes and you are transported to Italy. i usually get the Linguini Vongole, and it's always delicious. Sweet baby clams in a wonderful white wine, garlic, clam broth, the pasta was cooked perfectly. They hand make a lot of their pasta, which is always a bonus, you can tell right away. It isn't bland, but has the natural sweetness that comes from high quality ingredients, also has a great texture. My husband had the Saffron Cavatelli, this dish will blow your mind. Housemade Cavatelli, in a delicate but rich sauce, of langostinoes, sweet peas, marscapone in a champagne sauce. It's outstanding. They have amazing Italian cheese, their antipasto board is out of this world, you really can't go wrong with any of their dishes. If you are in Naples, as a local or a tourist, this place should be on the top of your list. The atmosphere, service and food are all fantastic. I have eaten here almost a dozen times, and have never, ever had a bad dish, nor an unpleasant experience. Beautiful courtyard with outdoor seating as well as an indoor area. We stopped for dinner after catching sunset at the beach and happened upon an opera performance. We were lucky enough to find a table because the food was delicious from start to finish. We had crispy calamari along with some charcuterie then sampled several other dishes among our group including pizza, pasta, cannoli and gelato. Everything we tasted was superb and my 8-year-old proclaimed it was 5/5 the best pasta he'd ever eaten. Do not miss the limoncello after dinner! read more

Attended the monthly Naples Opera dinner last Wednesday. The music was wonderful and the four course dinner was creative and fresh. Can't wait to attend the next one. First time at this resturant. Our waitress was terrible. After taking our order we never saw her again until our bill was delivered. I really enjoy this place! I have been twice now. It's a little more low key than some of the other surrounding restaurants in Naples/Old Naples. We started with the Calamari and Mussel apps. Both were pretty good! The Calamari was fried and served with cooked peppers. It was different but good! The mussels were very good! Served in a spicy tomato sauce with chorizo. After the apps we ordered 2 pizzas. One was Margherita with additional toppings and the other was the Diavola. Both very good! I will go back for sure! read more

Traditional lasagne is usually served in a layered square of alternating layers of ricotta sauce mozzarella and noodles. As a First Time Guest and LAST time guest at Barbatella, this was the worst experience I've had in Naples. My wife and I tried to dine here last week as it was recommended by friends. Upon approaching the host stand outside, I was greeted not so warmly first off. Ask for a table outside for two and was told their would be a wait. Fine. Also, I requested the table by the sidewalk as the guests had just left. Hostess said fine. 10 minutes later, hostess is seating another couple at my requested table who showed up after us. We were escorted to a very small table in an area we did not want. Again, I approached the hostess and the Manager was standing there. I inquired why our table was given away. Manager angrily answered, You did not have a reservation and you take what you get. WOW, a Manager is this angry over a request? I told him how Rude he was being and he again angrily said I was being rude and practically got in my face. That is superior Customer Service. Essentially cold care less if we stayed or not. We will make certain to let all of our friends now about our experience and hopefully they will let their friends know too. We ended up at a very nice restaurant across the street where Customer Service was Over the Top and we were not treated like street people. read more

The restaurant was decent. The food was really good, but the service was TERRIBLE. Our extremely rude server, Ueselin, was so obnoxious and just generally out of line. My girlfriend is very skinny and she requested the dessert menu, but he said "you have room for that" like she was a pig. He wasn't fun or personable. Basically a dick! If the kitchen had gotten our food out at the same time I'd give it a 4, but 2 meals weren't out until the rest of us were completely done & my one friend had clams to dig out. Not acceptable.
