Yesterday, I went to Bar Nancy for the first time. If you have never been there before, there are three things you should know when you walk in there: it is loud, it is dark, and it is small. Well, not super small. It is not a hole in a wall, but in comparison to some the other places I have been to, it is on the smaller side. On your left side is bar that will not have an empty seat. I promise you that. But the rest of the place has tables and if you get there early early enough, you should be able to find a place to sit down. On the other end, there is a stage, which last night had a DJ who played 70s and 80s songs while showing the videos of the songs (along with some throw back commercials) on the big screen behind them. The first couple of hours, they mostly played slow songs. But they picked up the pace and they got everyone up from their seats and dancing, to all sorts of music from that era, from disco to new wave, pop, hard rock, hip hop, and thing else that was ever popular during those days. Many songs that I had never heard before. It was awesome. By the way, there is no dance floor, you just have to find a few feet between you table and the one next to you and dance there. If you would like some private time, behind the stage, on the way to bathroom, there is a room with nice couch for those who need private time. Also, there are two bathrooms. Both private and unisex bathrooms. A relatively large rooms that you can lock the door behind you. I don't even want to know how many people who REALLY wanted to be private entered these rooms together. Overall, the service was good. I didn't try the food. All and all, my group had an amazing time. Thanks Bar Nancy.
Casual spot on Calle Ocho that doesn't offer much to the eye. Nautical theme and live music bring the crowd in but not much entices to stay. Didn't have any food but drinks were what you'd expect for Miami.., but this was not a hit Miami spot. Moscow mule and amaretto sour both reaching at 14/15$. Inside is dark and not relatively large of an area but plenty of seating. Bouncer and bartender were super friendly so that was a plus. Depends on what you'd like for a bar, but this did not do it for me. I was in/out in 20 minutes. So I say if you'd like to be considered a regular, then this is your spot to go.
I had this place saved for a long time and this Friday we finally went! My friends and I had an amazing time. We listen to the music that they had with some DJs playing songs from the 80s and believe it or not and I absolutely loved it. The drinks were fabulous that old-fashioned I had it was so good! The service was on point. Our waiter was amazing. She helped us with everything we needed with an amazing attitude. As you can read, I had a great time!
When you walk into Bar Nancy, especially if it is still daylight outside, you may want to take moment for your eyes and ears to adjust. Not only it is dark and you won't see anything initially, but the vibration of the music bouncing off the walls is enough to knock you off your feet. But after a few seconds, you take a look around and you know you are in the right spot. The decoration and the ambiance is fully nautical, from the small statues to paintings and murals and even the port hole on the back door, which I am told it was an actual port hole of a respectable sailing vessel. I not sure if the intended affect was that of a ship or a submarine from a Jules Verne novel. Either one works. There is a bar on the left hand side, and of course all the specialty cocktails have nautical references, from "Skipper's daughter" to "we're gonna need a bigger boat". The rest of the floor is covered with tables and chairs until you reach the stage at the end. There is usually a band or a DJ playing, and by the end of the night, no one is typically sitting down. Everyone is standing up and dancing by their tables. There is a room with comfortable sofas right behind the stage, and two unisex bathrooms in the back. The backdoor supposedly leads to a courtyard with a Tiki, but I didn't get to go there. I was having too much fun dancing to the music inside. Next time.
Celebrated a friend's birthday on their Disco night. In my experience Disco nights involve a couple of Donna Summer songs and a Bee Gees song then the music switches to current music and latin beats. Not here! They are true to the Disco music and played only true, original Disco songs. We arrived a little before 8pm and there were less than a dozen people there. Within an hour that has tripled and in two hours the dance floor was so packed it spilled out to every corner. The service was wonderful despite the crowd. Evie and the other server were attentive and checked on us and bussed the table throughout the night. Disco night is the first Friday of the month. Would love to check out their other theme nights. The cocktail list was extensive and all nautical themed- the skipper's daughter, we're gonna need a bigger boat and other fun names. They can make anything and had La Rubia beer- a favorite of mine. It is definitely a place I will visit again and again.
Overall very low key but hidden gem . Ben thé own is mad laidback and knows how to sling drinks that is for sure . Old school vibe all the times when it comes to the music but great place for a convo or to catch up with a friend.Did I mention happy hour every day of the week .Safe to say its home base sometime for a Quick libation.Oh and the food is good but it's also next door to sangwich so you do have the best of both worlds.Go give it a shot
Large space with a cozy backyard. I have been here a few times and it's always fun. It feels like a local spot. Staff is really friendly and good. They always have nice bands playing or fun events. Only small issue is that there's no parking only street parking. Good is that you don't need to bother to pay for it as nobody comes check that here as far as I know (: There's 2 unisex bathrooms.
Came during Happy Hour. Cool, dark and pirate ship vibe bar is definitely a go to. I think the bartender is the owner or manager and he was fantastic. My cousin ordered the "I don't know what I want" and gave him his taste preferences. His drink was DELICIOUS. the drinks have hilarious names and are wonderfully crafted. Definitely a go to for HH since everything is 1/2 off.
Really love this place. Try to couple different drinks and they were all great. One of the few places in Miami that actually has cider, so that was great. Bartender Joshua was phenomenal, even with dealing with insane drunk women. Actually got a signature cocktail that some form of filtered milk punch, taste like a Christmas Manhattan. Order the round of nugs as well, fine standard pubfair chicken nuggets. I would absolutely come back here in the future.
I must say for my first time coming in here and loving everything from the drinks to to the environment takes a lot ... I would recommend this to everyone I know.... And the owner was tending the bar!!! Love the hospitality

A must go! Finally a bar done right.from head to toe this place amazed me. Drinks - are amazing! Every drink we had was amazing from a simple screwdriver that blew my mind (first screwdriver I've ever had with freshly squeezed orange juice ) to the "smile you son of a bit**" which creative touches and flavor were amazing (clever funny name , small shark gummy on top, and amazing flavor) Atmosphere - when you first walk in it is a chill bar scene with relaxing dim lights and high tops then as you proceed further in there is a stage with great live music and entertainment (depending on the night you go it changes). Atmosphere 2- then if you proceed all the way out to the patio it transforms to a beautifully lite romantic setting where it's quiet and you can talk , great for if you have a date or met someone there you wanted to get to know better . Food - great flavor and well priced (enough said there ) Owners- you cannot beat a place run by good people and this place in run by the best Most kind people . Ever in little Havana and want to be surprised and amazed ? Stop by and check it out , you won't regret it . read more

My friends Pena Maxima played last night. I thought it would be full of hipsters but it was very nice, cozy, a great large patio area in the back to smoke, drink, and relax, cool staff, the sound is on point, and good pints. I will definitely return probably for the Smiths cover band Ordinary Boys. Parking is on the street, but pretty easy to find. Beware you can only do it for 3 hours, so right when it ends, renew it so the city doesn't give you a ticket. read more

My first experience at Bar Nancy was a very good one. We got there shortly after they opened so the crowd was a bit light but that was fine. The owner Ben was great. He took the time to tell us about the history of the bar. He and his staff were great. We took advantage of the great 4-7 happy hour they have. I typically don't like nautical themes but they took it to a far more creative level. The bar has a small to medium size front area, a large size booth off to the side and a pretty good sized patio out back which had a really cool look and vibe. The drink menu was creative. Something for everyone and the drink names - from 'Smile, you son of a bitch', to 'We're gonna need a bigger boat' - just added a couple more laughs to an already fun visit. It's more of a neighborhood place than a touristy joint. The local customers were friendly and fun to hang with. They have live music too. Drinks were made very well by Ben and his team and the prices were really great. Parking in the area can be a hassle in peak hours Im sure but around 500 we found a spot easily out front and it was only a few dollars to park for a couple hours. Go see Ben and the crew at Bar Nancy. It's a great local business to support during these trying times. read more

This is a hidden gem! The bar is decorated in a ship theme with is pretty cool and the drinks are so cool. They have a nice drink menu with all kinds of options and they come with little sharks inside that give a little fun. I went to there arroz con mango event and I love that they had all kinds of vendors and live music. read more

Birthday festivities for a good friend and we started of at Bar Nancy to check out Happy Hour. I was so excited to hear that HH is all weekend long from 4pm-7pm. We got there right on time and we started of with two Donkey Punch that are a twist of the Moscow Mule. It was so refreshing and one of the best I've ever tried. After we finished our drinks we met the owner Ben and convinced us to try his old fashions I was hooked!! We finished our night with two more drinks and the best part was the price $7 for all speciality drinks during HH regular $14. The drinks are truly amazing and all of them are made with LOVE. They have inside and outside seating with a live band that plays around 9pm on the weekends. During the week they have an old skool hip hop night but I'm not sure which night. Can't wait to come back again with my friends. read more

This place doesn't feel like it belongs in Miami, but I'm so glad it does! Full of character and characters. The spirits will lift your spirits. A dive bar for divers, or anyone who loves the sea and wants to see what a cool neighborhood bar could be. This place now has me rhyming like an old timey sailor. It's got me saluting to 13 stars and Red Stripe. I had heard of her legend, but didn't meet her until yesternight. Her name is Nancy and her bar I will visit again tomorrow tonight. read more

Great local bar, glad my boyfriend and I decided to give this place a shot. Bar Nancy's Bourbon/ Whiskey selection was the selling point for us and my lemon/chocolate Old Fashioned didn't disappoint! The nautical theme is fun and the live music on Wednesday's was a perk (a little loud but nonetheless a perk!) Happy Hour: Every day from 4pm - 7pm (half off drinks) Parking: Bar Nancy is right on 8th Street "Calle Ocho," so try your best to find street parking ** Pro Tip: There's no food served at Bar Nancy, so make sure you're not starving when you arrive. read more

Pretty sure the owner was the guy at the bar but that man was so cool. I love speaking with people that are so open, honest, and friendly. I loved hearing the reasoning behind why the they call it Bar Nancy and totally love the ambiance of the place. Definitely will be going back, love that it feels so homey and private. And a major plus that the drinks were FIRE. read more

Bar Nancy is a no fuss new addition to Little Havana night life. The bar is super cozy but has a nice space and outside patio area. This will be great for when the cooler temps hit Miami. We came in on a Saturday night and the vibe was super fun and laid back. The dj was throwing down a nice mix of tunes that had us shaking our tail feather on the dance floor. Our bartender hooked us up with some tasty bourbon old fashioneds. I can't wait to return! read more
These days when I think of bars that I want to spend my hard earned money in, Bar Nancy is really the only bar that comes to mind. It's off calle ocho right next to Mi Rinconcito Mexicano (if you use Waze, it will most likely take you to the wrong place so use Mi Rinconcito as your landmark to get there) and it looks like a hole in the wall from the outside but the inside is deceivingly large with a main bar area, stage, private enclave next to the bathrooms, and a back patio area with another smaller bar. As others have mentioned, they have happy hour from 4-7 which consists of EVERYTHING being 50% off. Real talk, you can't beat that. To make the deal even sweeter, they have seriously awesome bartenders who know how to make a mean drink. Whether you go for one of the cool cocktails they have on the menu or you stick to traditional drinks like an old fashioned, you'll be happy no matter what. Everyone who works there is friendly and this can easily be considered the neighborhood bar. They were even open right up until the day Hurricane Irma hit and they were so welcoming, it's like they knew that the only way to stay sane after making those long Home Depot, gas station, and Publix lines was to enjoy some libations and I'm forever thankful for that. Yes, it's little dark inside but the nautical decor is cool and the music they play is great. They do offer food which I have yet to try but all in all Bar Nancy is just a great destination to start or end your night and everything in between. read more

When my cousins-in-law invited us up from the 'burbs to go to Bar Nancy to see a Journey tribute band, I looked forward to the visit after reading our Yelp CM's glowing review, among others. For me, though, it was somewhat of a Jekyll/Hyde experience. Arriving early, free residential street parking was readily available a block away. It wasn't busy and initially, our server (who I won't name for reasons to be explained) was very cordial. Said server took the time to mention the ingredients of the 2 cocktails I tried. The Donkey Punch was a refreshing alternative to a Moscow Mule, but it was just ok. I preferred the other one, the Smile You S.O.B. This drink, with 2 types of tequila, hits you hard initially, but is leavened by mango and blackberry shrub, leaving a nice subtle fruity finish. Curiously, even though the website has a menu of bar food, we were told the kitchen was closed (on a Saturday night with live band??)...however, one of the people in our party called ahead and was advised it's ok to bring your own food. So we had chips with salsa and guac at the table. Some other people brought in pan con bistec from a nearby bodega. When I inquired about this, one of the staff said they were considering "hiring an outside contractor" to operate the kitchen. Whatevs.....I wasn't that hungry. As the night progressed, I wanted to downshift to beer, as the cocktails do have a pretty heavy pour. I saw someone nearby order a tallboy Bud, yet when I asked for one, a different server vehemently stated, we don't have that. And it wasn't on the menu, but I eventually got our original server and she was able to get it. Idk if it was a special, but it was $5 for a 16 oz. can. Eventually, the band took the stage about 10:30. A quick aside about the band, Main Street, if I may. They were really good. They have a frontman with a charismatic stage presence, as he urged the audience to join in on the chorus of songs. The first set was comprised of 9 hit songs by Journey. The lead guitarist was channeling guitar god Neil Schon's virtuosity note-for-note. At this point, I was having a great 5-star time and really enjoying myself. Alas, I don't stay out as late as I once did, and wanted to close out my tab. This is where horrible customer service really buzz killed my visit. Our original server, so cordial only a few hours before, repeatedly ignored my wife's request to close out. Other parties at our table attempting to close out also experienced trouble with this server. We observed her actually disappearing to the back of the club for an extended time. When we approached her again at the bar, she, sad to say, appeared to be impaired via an unknown substance, with slurred speech and inattention. She then stated she'd misplaced my credit card. For almost 45 minutes, my card (and us by extension) were held hostage. Said server was observed having a loud verbal argument with one of the bartenders as well. When I asked another server to assist, she came at me with attitude! Finally, a man who ID'ed himself as "one of the bosses" miraculously re-appeared my credit card! He then gave it to one of the bartenders. This gentleman quickly (and correctly) compiled my tab. He extended to me a $10.00 credit and a complementary beverage, and I appreciate that, but by then it was a case of "closing the barn door after the horse bolted" I explained to the "boss" about the impaired server, and I sympathize if she has a problem, but management's job is not to make her problem MY problem. Bar Nancy, for me, barely ekes out 3 stars. The only way I'd come back is if a) I'm already in the neighborhood b) only for happy hour when it's less hectic and the prices are more reasonable. AND, I'd use the tedious, antiquated system of pay cash as you go after this tab debacle! I definitely don't need to drive 16 miles to be exposed to poor customer service. read more

As a Northerner, I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into the dark, unassuming door on Calle Ocho. Huge, colonial Old Glory greeted us on the far wall when we first walked in. The bar, looking like an old ship, displayed all their liquors. We ordered a drink named after a patriot from our country's history and a can of craft beer. Their food was slightly better than bar food, as their Sloppy Joe was delicious - sweet bread with potato sticks, and the onions gave a little kick, but their chicharrones were not like real chicharrones (Cuban fried rib tips), but thin, fluffy, fried chips. Oh wow I loveddddddd this spot! They had a great band playing the night I went and I had so much fun listening to music and having a good cocktail. Its no frills but clean, and friendly like a bar should be. Super welcoming environment and I absolutely would love to make it back and see another random (to me) band. read more

Cozy atmosphere. The drinks are half price until 7pm. There is no waited service though, you need to go to the bar and get your drink. Definitely go to the patio! It's beautiful and comfortable. The drinks are pretty good and the staff is nice. read more

I believe they have Ricky Vallido and the Hialeah Hillbillies on Friday night. Great band but the bar itself has crappy expensive drinks and the food is awful. If I go again I will drink coca cola and eat before going.
