Came to montreal for thanksgiving from nyc to visit some family and had these AMAZING tapas from here. I highly recommend if you're coming with friends! The food was authentic and honestly great for sharing!

God! I love Spanish food and Tapeo delivered the goods. It's a very nice looking restaurants with nice modern and elegant decor. The meal started with a swordfish ceviche with olive chutney that was to die for. I had to take the very fresh and crunchy bread to swoop every last drop of the dish as it was way too tasty. I took the lamb Bavette for the main dish. Beside being very hard to cut (no steak knives) I devoured the whole thing like my life depended on it. It may not have been a very traditionnal dish but who cares, it tasted a lot and it tasted great. My friend took the seafood paella. It was packed with so many things. more seafood than paella. There was even some Chorizo up in there. The rice was a little too moist but beautifully aromatized. It smelled amazing and the smell would fill the whole room up. As if it wasn't nice enough, just when we were saying how full and satisfied we were, they put a big plate of decadent Churros with chocolate sauce. Last time I was In spain, I couldn't stop eating churros. Churros for life!

As someone who's half-Spanish, lived in Spain with a mom who cooked this type of cuisine on a regular basis most of my life let's just say my expectations were pretty high for a place with this type of hype. First off, the place is very pretty! Ideal for a fancy meal or a special moment. It's a very busy setting with not a whole lot of room between you and other tables. To say they have optimized seating would be a fair statement. Atmosphere is great and for people who love trendy, this is the place to be. Looking for Romance, this isn't it! Looking for family setting, definitely not it! This is a place to be seen, a place to have an adventure! We ordered the following plates and here are my impressions : Charcuteria Plate : This plate consists of Iberian ham, chorizo, salami, olives, etc. It's a small tapas portion with EXACTLY 4 slice of everything. Priced at $22, I found the value in this plate low. I love these type of plates so I was looking forward to it... and.... and it was just fine, nothing really wowed me. Who would have known I needed more than 2 tiny slices of chorizo to have enough to have a tangible impression? (2/5) Octopus & Sweet Potatoes : Very good, tapas style but good enough for 2 people. (4/5) Patatas Bravas : Good but not that great, portion is somewhat small so sharing it for 2 was a stretch. It's potatoes people, give us more. (3/5) Paella for 2 ($50) : Our main course. I won't lie, it's was pretty damned good and the quality of the sea food was top tier. Rice was cooked to perfection. Excellent dish but what's up with the $50 price-tag? Greedy!! (3/5) Churros : To even consider the portion tapas style would be a joke. You get 2 tiny churros ($2 each) with a tiny bowl of chocolate to dip it in. Churros was crispy on the outside, inside was under-cooked. This was prepped sloppily. (1/5) Service was very good, a little impersonal but did their job quite well. I'm always a little off when more than 2 waiters are passing by and attending my table. Not sure who to talk to and during this particular meal no less than 4 wait staff stopped by our table. All in all, the food was well below my expectations and I'm still looking for an ideal Spanish resto in Montreal. Tapeo did not provide what I was looking for and with the price-tag being what it was, I felt it had low value.

7.5 out of 10 Very nice classy modern restaurant, but not too the point where it's too fancy. Lovely vibe We got the tasting menu for 9 people.there were a total of 8 courses plus two desserts. The hightlights were: The boeuf bavette, nicely cooked jucy and tasty. The grilled shrimp, perfectly cooked, therefore easy to peel and perfect crunch. The octopus and potatoes, very yummy. The tuna ceviche was good too. Tomatoes with cheese, lightly cooked and jucy. I didn't find the fried calmari any special, it was like evry other restaurant. The paella was great, minus a little bit of sand in the mussels. The chuzos, nothing special. I would take the other dessert chocolate with rasberry jelly. As for the service,it was very nice.the waiters were very attentive and polite. The bad part was it took 2.5 hrs to complete our dinner. I would recommend this place for date or friends and if you don't mind staying there for a long time.

This is the best tapas restaurant in Montreal! The staff is super friendly and they have a very good wine selection, pretty much all privately imported. The food is exquisite : don't miss the gin tonic scallop ceviche, who is to die for! A++

    Paella! SO good!

What an amazing experience!!! I can't remember the last time I went to a restaurant, tried so many different dishes and loved all of them! Each tapa we tried was a new discovery of amazingly well put together flavours and fresh ingredients prepared with thought and expertise. The service was as incredible as the food. Congratulations to the owners and his team for an incredible dining establishment!

Went there for a friend's birthday. We were 3 and shared a big table with other people which we didn't mind because the table was spacious enough. We ordered 9 plated with 2 bottles of wine. Although the plates were small, we barely managed to finish all 9 tapas. I have read really good reviews before going there...maybe I'm not a fan of Spanish cuisine. Food was decent but not wow although the place is very nice.

Wow great ambiance great people. Love that at night they offer valet parking. Waiter was so attentive even on a very busy Thursday night. We ate like kings.

Very nice place, cozy, service and food was wonderful. The waiter took the time to explain the menu in full.

    Choco-nougat! Excellent

Such a nice atmosphere, great service & amazing food. Our top pics - patatas bravas, chorizo & choco-nougat!

I always try to put positive with reviews of places where I go. However.... If you go to TApeo, you need a reservation. We waited 50 minutes to have our table on a Saturday night. Very unfortunate. They didn't even offer us a complementary drink. They just came to us a couple of times and kept on telling us to wait a couple of more minutes. It wasn't the case. Once we had the table, we were squeezed between two other tables. I understand that they want to fit people but sometimes it's too much. We asked one of the severs what were the beers choices, and she said she wasn't our server. she sent someone else. The food is good but be sure to make a night of it because food comes slowly. We had five dishes. We recommend the chorizo and patatas bravas. The paella is good for sharing. Drinks and wine are also good. Good selection. Bathrooms are mixed but relatively clean. Would I come back ? Maybe during the week on a calm night but definitely not on Friday or Saturday.

Another great meal ends with churros.

Pics and reviews looked great, so we made plans to dine here during our penultimate night in the city. Barroco is located in Old Montreal, right on Rue Saint-Paul. The exterior has really charming curb appeal, and upon entry we were greeted by the same. This isn't a large restaurant, arranged with tables and a few booths throughout the space and a bar on the back wall that serves as a focal point. The vibes were on - the restaurant was tastefully decorated with a mix of old-fashioned fixtures, stone walls, and earth tones. The restaurant was quite lively - the vibes were on. Their drink menu is quite creative; we actually started our evening at the bar while we were waiting for our table and the bartender made some great suggestions - both cocktails I had were really good. The food menu is mostly French inspired; it wasn't extensive but they had a good variety of creative dishes. We decided on two starters - the brioche and the octopus salad. The brioche was fine, it came as one roll with a side of seasoned butter. It was a little on the dry side, and the butter wasn't very flavorful. The octopus salad was much better; the octopus was sliced and arranged on top of a ratatouille which provided a good complement of flavors and textures. For my main I got the OG braised beef. The beef was almost pot-roast style, seasoned with maple and aged balsamic sauce and paired with truffled celery root purée. This was delicious - the beef was super tender, and the sauce provided great flavor. The puree was an awesome side - the entire trip was super comforting and familiar while also being new and interesting. We decided to get two desserts - the madeleines and the olive oil cake. The former were baked fresh and came with a side of chocolate pudding and salted caramel, while the latter came with whipped cream and coached pears. Both were good, but I preferred the madeleines; the warm sponge paired with the chocolate and caramel was a great finisher to the meal. Service was great - everyone from the host to the bartender to our waiter made us feel welcome; they definitely elevated the experience. Overall, I had a great time at Barroco; the food, vibes, and service were all on point. I would definitely consider returning the next time I'm in Montreal.

I love Club Espagnol for a variety of reasons, the sangria is one, the live flamenco shows are another, the gentle family atmosphere, the great terrasse out back and lively crowd all make this place work. Oh yes, then there is the food. Tapas of all sorts: shrimp, calamari, octopus, chorizo sausage, all of it served in garlicky, bread-moppable glory. Spanish ham, cheeses, salads, garlic potatoes and mushrooms, soups, and salads. Mains here include rabbit and many variations of paella. While walking by some tables, the paella plates were positively delicious looking, all the saffron-colored rice, huge shrimp, mussels and chunks of sausage and ham all in full view. Prices are also very reasonable. I love the way families are usually here as well as younger couples, and groups of friends, all sharing the same space. I was here last week with a friend for dinner and some small girls were playing behind us when one of their balloons deflated and flew around before landing right in the middle of our table (not on any food) we both burst out laughing and so did the girls, it's the kind of place where stuff like that happens and it's fine. Try to come here at least once in the summer, it's totally worth it.

Recently Jeremiah Bullied took over as owner chef and I was excited to go see what this travelling, pickling, kindly master of deliciousness was doing with the old Spanish social club. We went last night to check it out and though the changes being made so far are subtle they are a great indication of new life and exceptional cooking happening in the lovely old room looking out over St Laurent. The classics are all still there, just better: the bread is all homemade and is so freaking good. The goat cheese balls are still changing people's lives, the rapini now comes with kale and preserved lemons and is way better than before, and the chorizo is juicier and tastier than it has been in years. We tried the specials, a pumpkin soup with caramelized onions and toasted seeds and it was unlike anything I've eaten before and I want to eat it every day until May. The other special was Southern-friend quail in lemon gravy on pickled brussels sprouts. Everything about this dish was amazing, except I'm not a quail fan, I think it's stupid, but that's just me. The team here is making tiny changes to the room and the menu and I look forward to going back often to seeing how it all progresses. The fresh coat of white paint feels clean and amazing, and the other little tasteful updates to the decor are smart and good looking. Well worth a revisit, go get it!!
