Every cocktail was delicious, and the overall experience was much more enjoyable. Overall, I highly recommend The Coldroom. My only suggestion would be that, with a space that busy, the bar could really benefit from having an additional bartender during peak hours. Personally I like fruity mixed drinks that don't taste like alcohol. My friend is a scotch drinker and goes for stronger drinks. We both were able to find something that made us happy. La Distillerie does mixed drinks like no other. They also do it with a heavy hand so while it may seem pricy to some, you definitely get what you pay for. My friend and I had some beer before arriving and then two drinks each here and both walked out very much not sober. The vibe is chill and a bit nostalgic and the menu options are exceptional. Our nightlife is what makes our city and I really hope the provincial and federal government get together behind some actual coordinated support for these crucial local businesses. I used to live near Hemisphere gauche and have walked by all kinds of different crowds gathered outside, it's so awesome to see how different kinds of communities can feel welcomed in live music venues and bars and I love walking by and feeling, not just unthreatened, but somehow welcomed in their midst. I've sat on the window ledge here and enjoyed a cheep beer and the people watching, and I've rolled in here with a crew of badass lady friends after another bar closed and the staff let us take over their karaoke set up and drink whiskey and sing all our frustrations out till closing time, no fuss.

From our hotel, we took the subway to Station Beaubien and found this bar nearby on the quite bustling St-Hubert. A small sandwich board directed us to climb a dimly lit stairwell. At the top of the stairs was Snowbird where we were immediately taken with the darkly kitschy atmosphere. The bar itself was long and fully occupied, and the rest of the compact space was well packed. We thought we might have to leave, but the host found us a high top table that had just opened up. It definitely checked the Trader Vic's box as we were genuinely delighted with the array of tropical libations presented on the animated placemat (Photo 10). Their four-snowbird potency scoring system was helpfully amusing with three snowbirds indicating "You're going to text your ex". Both of us hit three snowbirds with our orders. Jamie went for the C$16 Bahama Mama made with Planteray 3 Stars, coconut rum, orange, pineapple, lime juice, and hibiscus syrup. Mine was the C$16 Painkiller with Planteray Dark, Agricole rum, pineapple, orange & lime juice, Don Gardenia's mix, and coconut syrup (Photo 9). Both of us were pleased with our selections though I think they could've dropped the rating to two snowbirds which indicate "You're gonna stay up late". It was surprisingly not overly loud as we were able to pick up on the obscure songs they were playing through the Shazam app. The staff was friendly, and there was just one particularly industrious server handling the entire space. We didn't stick around for a second round, but a return visit seems likely someday.
