We have had plenty of Spanish food in NYC, LA and other major cities but cannot believe that we find one of the tastiest Paella and tortilla espanola in this small restaurant. Take a trip to Spain via Montreal Paella, and enjoy the authentic ingredients/preparation This is not fast food, so you will need to enjoy some appetizers until you get your paella - and it will be time well spent. Definitely coming back.

This is an amazing true Spanish Restaurant away from Spain. I have traveled through Valencia where Paella was invented and tasting Chef Mariano Fernandez mix paella transported me back to Valencia and taste those aromatic herbs and arroz valenciano. Simply amazing, I was visiting the beautiful city of Montreal and it was simply a wonderful surprise to taste true Spanish cuisine. Everything was amazing from the hospitality, the ambiance and overall the amazing Spanish food.

Great find in Montreal. Really fun owners and the seafood Paella fantastic. Also the chicken Paella was really good. It's snowing outside otherwise we might think we are in Spain.

Such a good gem! The staff was so kind and attentive, even during the lunch rush. Two of us shared paella and potatoes brava, was enough for both of us. The high top tables make the spot really casual, we hung out for a while and played cards.

If you hate garlic, then don't come here. However if you…read moredon't, then come here as often as you can, plus this is the place to go for the best sangria in Montreal, hands down! I love Club Espagnol for a variety of reasons, the sangria is one, the live flamenco shows are another, the gentle family atmosphere, the great terrasse out back and lively crowd all make this place work. Oh yes, then there is the food. Tapas of all sorts: shrimp, calamari, octopus, chorizo sausage, all of it served in garlicky, bread-moppable glory. Spanish ham, cheeses, salads, garlic potatoes and mushrooms, soups, and salads. Mains here include rabbit and many variations of paella. While walking by some tables, the paella plates were positively delicious looking, all the saffron-colored rice, huge shrimp, mussels and chunks of sausage and ham all in full view. Prices are also very reasonable. I love the way families are usually here as well as younger couples, and groups of friends, all sharing the same space. I was here last week with a friend for dinner and some small girls were playing behind us when one of their balloons deflated and flew around before landing right in the middle of our table (not on any food) we both burst out laughing and so did the girls, it's the kind of place where stuff like that happens and it's fine. Try to come here at least once in the summer, it's totally worth it.

This is a great place for big or small groups. None of the food disappointed and the bill was very reasonable. Easy to fall in love with this place.

Our choices were either a pasta spot frequented by the local student populace or this more traditional Spanish restaurant. Given our aversion to carbs, I think we made the wise decision in hindsight. We had no problem not having a reservation as we were seated quite easily.by a gregarious gentleman that we presumed was the owner. The menu was enticing to us since we were in Spain just a couple of months earlier where we had our share of tapas and paella. We were hungry, so we ordered rather liberally starting with the C$25 Octopus Salad (Salade de Pieuvre) (Photo 6). A hearty portion of octopus was boiled, chopped, and mixed with bell peppers, tomato, sweet onion, romaine, and a bright tasting vinaigrette. It tasted very authentic and provided savory satisfaction. We followed this plate up with the C$34 Trio de Tapas presented on an oblong appetizer plate (Photo 7). First up was a quartet of Cod Croquettes presented crispy golden-fried with a creamy interior. Completing the plate were nicely charred pieces of grilled chorizo and squid. We quickly knocked out those bar-style tapas. Our entree came next, the C$45 Paella Valenciana, a solid rendition with chicken, chorizo, a seafood medley, and saffron rice (Photo 9). While it wasn't quite at the level of the one we just had in Valencia (food snob alert), who knew you can get high quality paella in Montreal? FOOD - 4 stars...top grade Spanish fare AMBIANCE - 4 stars...definitely atmospheric....there was a flamenco show going on downstairs SERVICE - 4 stars...pretty attentive TOTAL - 4 stars...great find for our first rainy night in Montreal RELATED - Exploring Montreal?
