Sesame Salad
Briana N.

Nice place to get food from if you're looking for something casual and on the cheaper side. I got the combo and chose Szechuan fries as a side along with the wasabi shrimp gua bao and the juicy pork bao. The pork bao was indeed juicy and had pretty good flavor. I had expected the wasabi shrimp to be actual pieces of shrimp but it was more like the type of shrimp you get from dim sum where it's like a shrimp ball. It was pretty dense which I wasn't too big of a fan of. But the wasabi flavor really came through without being all that spicy. The fries were really good too. Not as crispy as I would have liked, but the Szechuan flavor was prominent which I appreciated. The sesame salad was not what I was expecting at all. The salad itself was your typical salad mix you can get from the store with lettuce and carrots. And the croutons were fried bao pieces. And it was really just the sesame dressing that made it a sesame salad. But I'm still grateful they had some type of vegetable option on the menu. The fried bao sticks were decent. But you really can't eat much without feeling sick because of how greasy it is. Of course it's fried, but it really soaks up a lot of oil. The condensed milk and boba was delicious though. I really like how they have milk latte options that don't have tea and therefore don't have caffeine. So I could still try a drink despite having it in the evening. It was really refreshing and the flavoring comes through strong without being too sickly sweet.

The restaurant is nice and aesthetic. Plenty of parking in the lot. It's on a strip with several other restaurants and stores. So nice place to go after a day of shopping! I appreciated they have lots of different combo options if you want to try multiple things. They also have a family pack which looked great. Service was pretty quick, I was able to go inside to order. They have an online option and I'm-store they have tablets for ordering. It took about 15 minutes for my order to be finished. I got the veggie combo that comes with Spicy Tofu guabao, Kung Pao Veggie bao, served with a side of Szechuan Fries. I also ordered the shrimp fried rice. Unfortunately the food was a bit underwhelming to me. Everything seemed to be lacking flavor. I got the bao'd up sauce which does help to add a bit of flavor to the food. I was also surprised that even the Szechuan fries didn't have much flavor or spice to them. The rice was kind of mushy and didn't have much flavor either. There were a few other menu items that seemed good, so I may give that a try. They also offer boba and teas, so that may be a good addition to a meal.

1/3/24 I forgot to post this the other day but still wanted to update my review. It's been awhile since I've been here but I told my friend about it so we met here for lunch. The interior is still the same. It's clean and bright. They even had a cute Xmas tree in the entry way. The biggest difference was the menu and the ordering process. The menu on the board is different than last time. You can reference the past pics if you are really interested. You order from a little kiosk which was easy to do. Don't get tricked, like I was, when you see the limited menu on the board. There are many other options once you start ordering. I got two buns and a side. I got the fries. I should have gotten the salad as a side. I'm trying to make better food choices in '24. That being said, I only ate a few of them! I was good. I got the fried tofu bun (chicken is also an option) and bbq bun. You order from the kiosk but they bring it to your table. That's nice! My friend ordered a lo mein dish. She devoured it! I still like the place and will be back more often! :)

An Epicurean Delight! One idle evening, I did summon the glories of Bao'd Up to my doorstep via DoorDash, and lo! What a feast awaited me. The lavender boba, an ambrosial nectar fit for the gods, paired perfectly with the most divine chicken sandwiches--crispy, tender, and wholly transcendent. Reclined upon my couch, I dined as though I were royalty. Yet, my indulgence knows not the bounds of my living room, for on many occasions I do gather my dearest companions and venture to Bao'd Up itself. There, amidst lively chatter and much rejoicing, we partake in culinary splendor. Truly, Bao'd Up is a treasure--partake boldly and often!

Crispy Chicken (Pair)

I have LOVEEEED this place since I first tried it in 2019. It's quite honestly my favorite restaurant of all time. This time I ordered for pickup, the crispy chicken pair along with drinks and a few other menu items. As you can see in the picture the "tacos" came disassembled with half as much coleslaw than normal and only one piece of chicken each (used to have two). The sauce is also pre packaged which was pretty disappointing to find out it wasn't made fresh. As for the jasmine green tea it tastes like perfume, it was pretty disgusting. I've had jasmine tea before and it's never tasted anything like that. Additionally the expected pick up time was 7:46 and the food was not ready until 8. For paying $43.99 I expected to have the same quality of food I've always enjoyed in the past. I am extremely frustrated that for a place that has been so consistent for years the quality has suddenly gone down tremendously. I'm very disappointed, I moved out of Austin a while back but still make the long drive on a regular basis for their food.

Ordering was simple, they have iPad at the front for you to use. And I'll come out and call your name when it's ready. I got a delicious brisket, Bao bun and a bubble tea. I went for the original flavor, although I was a little bit unsure what that meant... But I am pretty sure original means plain Jasmine tea. this place is on the corner of the shopping plaza and there's plenty of parking, seating even outdoor seating. they are definitely a bit understaffed at the moment, as many places are. But they did a great job getting the order out fast and correctly.

I ordered 3 baos: The dough for all three are the same, just different in color. I like the dough. Very fluffy. Veggies bao: a bit salty. It's not that great. I think you can skip this one. Spicy bao: not too spicy. Custard bao: good one if you want some sweet savory snack

I went in to order food to go and I got my food super quick. Ambiance was ok, it was pretty empty at 6:30 on a Monday. Staff was nice and it took 5 minutes to order and get my food: the chicken combo. It was good, I wish it came with a little more sauce. It's not spectacular though. But I bet it would be better if you eat there, crispier fries and all. Overall, for the price $14 with tips for the combo, it was good and filling. They also have all kinds of bubble teas if you're into that Pro-tip: go get a cookie next door at crumbl

Mango-flavored green tea with boba. Oh, and water.

I'm actually giving it four and a half stars because they didn't offer black tea as an option. Oh well, still impressed with the place. It was my first visit there was yesterday (Sunday, July 21) due to me accompanying my sister, and niece to visit their relative. Ordering food was very simple through an iPad (generally speaking). The menu consisted of various items that included bao, ramen, and boba drinks. I ordered the pork belly "tacos." You can customize your order, especially if you don't want cilantro. Yes, I'm one of "super tasters" that cilantro has gives out a soap taste when eaten. Also with my order, I added French fries, and a mango-flavored green tea. Like I said, I give this review four and a half stars because there was no option besides green tea. Also, the fries were the crinkle kind which I enjoy better than the regular straight ones. Yes, I know fries are fries, but something about it being "crinkly" makes it more enjoyable. Oh, the drink can also be customized by making it more or less sweet. Oh, I forgot about the pork belly tacos -- hella good. Service was prompt. After you order, staff brings your food and drink to you. Although, it can be optional depending how busy they were, which on this day it wasn't. Counter staff-on-duty was very friendly and patient. Ambiance was quiet. If there was background music, I didn't notice it because it was wonderful to carry on a conversation without shouting. The next time I'm in the Austin area either alone or with family, I'll suggest to go there again.

Wasn't a fan of the Kung-Pao Veggie Boas, pretty dry and wasn't very flavorful. The bun of the "Chinese-style fluffy taco" Fried Tofu guaobao was dry, but the tofu was flavorful but I wasn't a fan of the sauce. The Szechuan fries were very salty but had a unique flavor. I thought the Saigon Chill Vietnamese coffee was pretty watered down. I'm glad I gave baodup a shot but left disappointed without plans to return or recommending to friends.

Some of the best Asian fusion I've had while in Austin. My partner and I shared the 4 Bao plate and the Spicy Dan Dan noodles. For the bao, we had the Teriyaki Chicken, Original pork, pork belly, and spicy brisket. The pork belly was the best out of the 4, but all were tasty. As for the Spicy Dan Dan, the sauce is very similar to hot pot broth - we got regular spicy and that was flavorful but not overpowering with heat. I liked that the noodles came with spinach and added fried tofu and a marinated egg to the dish. The fried tofu was alright - it was fried almost like fried chicken and was a bit dry alone, but decent with sauce. The egg was a little bit of a disappointment. At first, it was forgotten with our dish and we didn't notice till we had wolfed down all the noodles, but they still gave it to us after we asked. However, it was cold and all the way hard boiled, unlike a ramen egg, which is soft boiled. Overall, pretty great place! The ambience is also hip and inviting - some of the booths and chairs even had pillows.

The best place to get baos! There are so many tasty options including two veggie baos, one with mixed veggies and guabao with crispy tofu. Chicken bao combo with crispy chicken is delicious too. The sweet egg cream bao is a delight! The schezwan fries are great to have on the side. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with the theme and makes dining here a pleasant experience.

Everything tastes the EXACT same every single visit, which I feel like is such a rare quality for a restaurant to execute this well. The bento box is hands down the best thing on the menu! It's customizable, and my go-to order is miso soup, the dragon roll with yellowtail, potstickers, fried rice, and the wok-sautéed vegetables. I cannot emphasize enough how good the vegetables are. They're genuinely some of the best I've ever had, and I actually crave them. We also tried the marinated yellowtail sushi taco, and it was GAS. The fish tasted incredibly fresh, the flavors were amazing, and the texture was perfect. The taco was huge and absolutely packed with fish. My husband and I shared one alongside our bento boxes and were beyond full. I know Muse went viral for their sushi tacos, and they're absolutely worth the hype, but I really think the bento box is the star of the show. My recommendation is to get the bento box and add a sushi taco on the side! The atmosphere is extremely casual, with counter service and open seating, which makes it a great spot for an easy, laid-back meal. Service has been good every time, and the pricing is incredibly fair considering the quality of the food and how generous the portions are. It's rare to find a place that's this consistently good, especially at such a reasonable price point. Three visits in, and Muse hasn't missed once!

I ordered the spicy tuna, carne asada, and tuna fish tacos! My favorites were all three! I can not choose. They are huge; they are packed from top to bottom. It's not a flimsy taco. It's a hard shell, thick and fried, with seasoning covering the outside. When the gurus say crunchy, it's crunchy. With the first bite, you immediately taste how good the shell is. Then, your bite goes deeper into the flavors: meat, fresh veggies, sauces, and rice. I started with the tender, seasoned carne asada. It was good, flavorful! I was full by then, but I had to bite into the tuna, which led me to devour the whole thing. Of course, I was stuffed, so I took the spicy tuna to go. You can order just one, but I recommend trying two or three. Yes, you will have to take the other two home. Or just one home like me! I think the shell is the stealer of the show! Yes, what's inside the shell is very good! But the shell is the best! Now, the menu has bowls, noodles, rolls, and more, and I can't wait to try them! Yes, it's busy, but the inside has plenty of seating. It's cute in there with the soft blues and yellows. It makes for a very relaxing lunch!

All of my orders have been through the usual delivery apps, so I can only speak to the drinks and delivery experience, but they've been consistently good. The menu is extensive, with milk teas, fruit drinks, smoothies, milk foams, and plenty of seasonal concoctions. We tend to keep things simple. My usual is an XL iced Earl Grey, no milk or sugar. It's strong, tastes fresh, and is good on its own. At $5.54 before tax, I'm happy with what I'm getting. My husband's usual is a large Earl Grey milk tea with aloe vera and black pearls, which runs about $5.84. Their milk foam Earl Grey is also really nice, and both the black pearls and aloe vera have been consistently good. Orders arrive quickly and fresh, and they get our customizations right most of the time. There's been the occasional mistake over the years, but nothing that's put us off ordering. One thing I'd appreciate is a lower sweetness option between no sugar and 30%. Sometimes you want just a little sweetness, and something around 10-15% would be awesome. I've also been pulled in by the seasonal merchandise, from the little birthday boba bottles to the Harry Potter ornaments. The tumbler I bought felt a little cheap, but that's just my opinion. We're not boba connoisseurs. We just want a good afternoon tea, and we've been pretty happy with this place.
