Wanted to like this place, but sadly it bombed. We ordered the pork and crab soup dumplings. They served them in a tiny metal pie tin. The soup dumplings are way too big for that tin and the spoon they serve them with. Once my husband punctured it all the liquid pored out on the table. Had to ask for a bowl. The bigger issue was there was no crab and hardly any pork. It was all dumpling and quit bland. Their dumbling sauce was over powered with ginger. We ordered combo fried rice and fried spicy fish. The rice was so bland and the meat had a weird rubbery texture. Maybe precooked, I am not sure, but big tough chunks of chicken and beef and the shrimp was meh. Fried fish was so salty. Omg, we went from bland rice to over salted fish! The batter reminded me of funnel cake batter douced in chili oil instead of traditional red chilis or jalapeno, just awful. I drank two glasses of water and came home and drank two more because of the salt. I wish them the best, but I would rather drive to have good authentic Chinese food then eat here again. Service was fast and the food was delicious! We got the steamed shrimp dumplings, BBQ bao and beef stir fry noodles. Everything was fresh with a nice presentation. My daughter ordered a jasmine tea and it came in a tea pot. We really enjoyed having more choices close to home! Give them a try! The were 5 tables total on a Sat night. Seen this place open and wanted to try this place out. The place was super clean and the server was really nice. I ordered the lunch special to go. I looked at the menu on the lunch special and you can only pick select main meal. I love orange chicken and wanted to try it. The server said its their special recipe. Got home and tried it and it was okay. The soup just had tofu and green onions. Just a regular soup. I would go back and try something else. I would recommend this place to try out. Stepped into A One Dumplings with my husband earlier this week for dinner. The place is super nice and clean. Service is also fast and friendly. The food however wasn't the best. The good: the chicken chow stir fried noodles--very flavorful! The mediocre: The General Tso had an oddly vanilla taste to it. The fry batter made it taste like funnel cake. The fry batter needs to be improved. The BBQ buns were kind of unremarkable lacking any flavor, a bit overwhelmed by the giant baos. Portions were great imo! This was really great authentic Chinese food! We love hot oil noodles, and these are probably the best we've had in Austin. I don't eat pork, so I was super happy to see they had chicken soup dumplings. The scallion pancakes were also really yummy. For dessert, the yellow custard baos were adorable. I ate most of them due to just how hungry I was but I didn't necessarily enjoy them. The meat used in them left little to be desired. The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. Do not sleep on this place their food is utterly amazing! We had the fried beef dumplings, crab and pork Bao and the pork tonkatsu and I highly recommend every one of those dishes! Really enjoyed this new spot for Asian food in west Austin! Normally for food this good, I have to drive up to the Highland Mall area, but I really enjoyed most of what we ordered. Highlights: Red oil dumplings were spicy & flavorful, BBQ bao were perfectly steamed and gorgeous. Mapo tofu had really nice sauce on it. Lowlights: the soup dumplings were good but a little too large to eat in one bite, which made them awkward to handle. And the beef and noodles needed some more spice to it, good noodles but kind of boring. Plus the tofu in the mapo tofu was a bit goopy - I prefer my tofu firmer / crispier. Came in for lunch, nothing to fancy. Really warm and inviting owners for this restaurant. I took Chef special noodle soup and soup dumplings. Noodle soup had 4 star noodle but broth was a tad too plain for me, needs some extra kick of soy and chili oil. The soup dumplings though are perfect, I like chili oil with mine instead of dumpling sauce. Perfect dumplings imo, just a burst of flavors u expect and freshly made. A good addon to boring beecave foo scene, would advice to go a little punchier on the flavors if the customer is looking for it. read more

We were excited to learn that this restaurant had opened, so we tried it for the first time this week. We tried the chicken and cabbage dumplings, the scallion pancakes, the vegetable fried rice, and the chicken noodle stirfry. We had a delicious pot of hot chrysanthemum tea, and the piggy Bao custard dessert. The food was amazing, very fresh, the server was very helpful to make sure we didn't order anything too spicy because that would not have worked for us. My favorite, which was surprising, was the vegetables fried rice. I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try, we are so glad that they are here. Food is fresh, hand made bao and dumplings - arguable the best soup dumplings around. If you're looking for your run of the mill, "Americanized" Chinese food, this isn't for you. The soup dumplings were amazing, seaweed salad flavor and portion were great, we also had the BBQ Bao which we felt should have been stuffed with a decent serving of protein. For a Saturday evening they had 2 people serving 12+ tables. We ordered the pork soup dumplings, chicken stir fry noodles, and orange chicken. Soup dumplings were pretty good and we got those fairly quickly. Our meals... the orange chicken arrived a good 10 minutes before the chicken stir fry noodles. The orange chicken was very sweet and tasted like marmalade. The stir fry chicken was better, but not great. On the positive, the server was very friendly. read more

Wish the owners ad cook would go to Chen's Noodle House and Din HO and see what good restaurants are doing, we do really need a good place out here, and maybe they can make this one good.
