    Scallion pancake with beef
    Lisa R.

We visited Stillwater for the Mid-South Gravel race weekend before Spring break, as Eric R. is a cyclist who has had his share of bad luck in this race (broken bike, broken bones, natural disasters). The night before the race, our local friend recommended this new restaurant for his carb-loading. We ordered way too much for three people but we enjoyed everything and the service was great! Eric R. and our friend each got a Tsingtao. They shared soup dumplings and bbq pork buns. I don't eat pork so I did not try them but they were very happy with these! Eric R. and I shared a half Peking duck. It was very tasty, accompanied by hoisin and maybe a sweet chili sauce, shredded cucumber and scallions. The pancakes were separated by doilies in the steamer, making them very easy to pick up without ripping them! This was very tasty and filling. In addition, we tried the beef and green onion dumplings and the chicken and mushroom dumplings. They were tasty and colorful too, but we could not finish them and took them to go. Our friend also ordered the scallion pancake stuffed with beef. These were like mini burritos and very filling. The menu has a lot of options so I recommend coming with a big enough group to try lots of items!

Oh, Stillwater. So many Asian restaurants to serve the Anglo populace. And the service at Bao House is top tier. They have the fanciest devices, too, to keep up with the tables and food expeditions. Beautiful decor, televisions, bar - the whole nine. I'm sure most palates in Stillwater will appreciate the food. Those who use black pepper instead of mounds of chili oil, hot chilies, and jalapeños. My dining mate said the shrimp dumplings were filling.

The food at Bao was really good. It was fresh and I forgot to take pics of the dumplings we had. Those were phenomenal as well. The service is really good here too. They took really good care of us. The atmosphere was great as well. Clean and tidy

So glad we came and tried this place. Great atmosphere and very attentive friendly service. We decided to try a bunch of appetizers and we were not disappointed. Everything was delicious! I can't wait to come back and try a main course.

Everything was SO GOOD! 10/10 The staff is so nice and the restaurant itself feels very clean. The food is very flavorful and is very filling. Definitely recommend the pan friend soup dumpling but my boyfriend asked for the waiters favorite dish and it was so pretty and tasty!!

Excellent service and the food is delicious! Top notch establishment. A welcome addition to the Stillwater restaurant scene. My new favorite place in town!

Spicy braised beef with fried rice and veggies

Cucumber salad was fresh and delicious Chili oil is spicy and really good Scallion pancake with beef is light and refreshing not overly scallion based Crab rangoon is crunchy and sweet Pork dumpling in chili oil was simple not too spicy Soup dumpling very full of soup and meat very good Pan fried soup dumplings simple and good Braised beef noodle soup very yummy, has cabbage too and is a simple flavorful broth spicy braised beef very yummy and a 6/10 spice spicy dried chicken very good and crispy Service was great, got to see pictures of many of the menu items. Drinks were always filled and dishes removed promptly. Restaurant is very clean and open, simplistic artwork and open walls. I definitely feel like they use MSG in majority of their meals if that is something you care about.

The restaurant is clean and the staff are wonderful and friendly. I ordered egg drop soup, 1 egg roll, Jasmine tea, and Cashew chicken. There was something seriously wrong with the soup. It was NOT good and the crispy noodles were very bitter. Like they haven't changed their oil in a month. Gross I spoke with possibly the owner and he said he doesn't eat the soup. He didn't sound like he was going to taste it to check. The egg roll was absolutely delicious! I could have eaten 4 of them. My entree was generic and salty. Most of the menu has the same brown sauce, so don't expect the dishes to have much difference in flavor profile. All in all, my review is generous at best.

Delicious! The food here isn't greasy at all. You can choose your preferred spice level when ordering, and the ingredients are fresh. The dishes are served on trays reminiscent of those used in traditional Chinese tea ceremonies. The side of rice is cooked on the firmer side, but once you mix it with the sauce, the texture becomes perfect. The prices are student‑friendly, and the portions are just right. I can't believe such a great restaurant is located right next to the OSU campus. It's been a week since I ate there, and I'm already itching to go back. I think the restaurant could be even nicer if the interior were updated with a slightly more modern touch.

I know that Kung Pao Chicken is the go-to safe bet on the menu, kind of like the chef's choice of Chinese food. But man, this one just didn't land. I asked for a 4 out of 5 on spice, I wanted something with some heat, but not like a dare. What I got had all the firepower of a bell pepper. Maybe someone from rural Wisconsin might've found it adventurous, but for anyone who's had the real thing, this was at the same level of bbq sauce. One of the things I genuinely enjoy about going to Chinese restaurants is keeping up my Mandarin, having a quick chat with the staff, maybe hearing a few regional accents. No dice here. The guy up front was a white dude with no idea what zhōngguó cài even is, and the kitchen staff were speaking Spanish the whole time. Which, fine, but maybe don't brand yourself like you're bringing authentic Sichuan to town when the closest you get is a laminated picture of a dragon and some questionable chicken. Food was edible. Service was fine. Place was quiet. But the whole thing felt like the ghost of a Panda Express trying to pass as something more serious. I might give it one more shot in the future just to be fair, but for now, this was a miss.

They had a sign up welcoming customers to their soft opening and asking for constructive criticism. The biggest disappointment was the calamari. It tasted like frozen onion rings. The thick batter was identical to the batter of frozen onion rings. When I bit into the first one, the calamari came out, revealing what a tiny sliver of calamari was inside the thick breading. I would definitely recommend choosing a different appetizer. I like that they have lunch specials which include eggroll, choice of rice, and choice of soup. Dan and I both got Pad Thai with shrimp, egg drop soup, and fried rice. Our grandson got lo Mein with beef, won ton soup, and fried rice. He liked his soup and entree. The egg rolls were a little greasy and we didn't get a sauce for them. We did not like the fried rice. It was dry and had an unpleasant flavor. I couldn't tell what spice I was tasting, but it seemed to belong in an Indian restaurant instead of an Asian restaurant. The dry and underdone texture added to the unpleasantness. Dan and I both love Pad Thai, but we didn't enjoy this. We ordered it around 2:00. It might have been fresher earlier. The sauce seemed too thick and a little sweet. As the sign said, this was a soft opening. I will try them again after they've been open awhile.
