I love my new bathroom! The price was similar to other quotes I received. The communication was great. I had all of my questions answered. I made several minor adjustments to the original plans to make sure the small space looked good while being functional. My house was built in the 1940s and my guess is that it was probably renovated in the '90s (except for the vanity). The original "allowance" included in the quote was less than what I ended up paying. Expect to pay more in materials if you go for mid-higher end items. My advice: start buying materials months in advance to prepare for shipping delays/damaged product/aesthetic adjustments. Banner LLC recently finished remodeling both bathrooms in our home and my wife and I are very happy we choose them to do the work. We primarily worked with Balazs throughout the process and I really appreciated the communication he gave. As someone that really hasn't dealt with contractors much, he helped make the process smooth. During the bidding process I appreciated the clarifying questions he asked before presenting the bid. It made me feel like this wasn't "just another job" and that he was paying attention to details right from the start. Balazs provided very good recommendations on where to choose materials as we were completely clueless on where to even begin looking other than the normal home improvement stores. He was also had a very quick turnaround on the bid. I also appreciated that requests of additional work (like replacing plumbing in the walls and adding handles to cabinets) were able to be accommodated without issue. As my wife and I were expecting our second child during this process, starting and finishing the job on-time was of great importance. Just had our two bathrooms totally gutted and redone by Banner.  We feel lucky to have found Banner via internet research (Yelp, Google, etc.).  We originally started our project with another contractor we met at one of the Home and Garden shows at Cal Expo.  We paid a Personal Service Agreement (PSA) along with a good amount for a designer to draw plans.  We decided to walk away from that contractor as we could not get a revised bid amount based on the detailed plans he suggested we have done. We also felt the communication dropped off after signing and paying for the PSA. Banner took our imperfect detailed plans along with a home visit and provided a bid consistent with the original contractor's initial bid/estimate. Banner's bid was on target, even with some of the issues that arose during the project (40 year old home on a cement slab and code concerns not addressed in our original plans). Balazs Banner won us over with his timely and continued communication and his father (and team) won us over with the quality of work.  Everyone was great about answering our questions and wanted to make sure we were okay with changes that were needed.  Should you choose Banner for your project, make sure they know you are open to suggestions, as they have great practical alternatives that may actually be better and possibly less expensive than your original design. His team is very respectful and hard working. We contacted them in the urgency of changing out our 20 year old shower in master bedroom. They came out the next day, looked at the old shower and gave us all the info to get started on it. We were planning on remodeling our bathrooms and trying to find a good contractor. This was challenging. After talking to a few contractors and abundant research looking for good trustworthy local business, we hit upon Balazs of Banner Construction. I called and left him a message. Within a matter of minutes, I got a text back from Balazs who was overseas and said he'll be back in a week and would set up a time to meet me for a personal consultation and was also willing to give a remote estimate if I sent him some pictures and few basic measurements if time was of essence. Since I live in the Bay Area, I needed someone who was trustworthy, reliable, flexible, and very solid. The reviews I read were great, and my experience was similar. Updated review: Since my last review and the complaint to the contractors licensing board, Balazs contacted me and offered to fix the vanity on the condition that there would be no warranty on it. Which I agreed to in order to come to a resolution. In addition to the vanity, I did end up with an issue with one of the baseboard nails damaging my pocket door. This issue was resolved but with a different contractor however. All in all the work that Banner LLC did for me at first was amazing. He really helped me out and was able to take direction with how I wanted my home and interior styled, however as the project progressed, things ended up getting missed and done in a poor manner, and this is what I had problems with. I wished that there had been more care taken in painting the inside of my house (as I'm still cleaning paint stains off of the new floors and window frames), and a better understanding of the building codes. Overall however I feel that they did a satisfactory job considering the circumstances and budget. read more
