Pork belly banh mi, panko tofu bao, and tofu fries

The interior isn't much to write home about but the food is so consistently good And very reasonable! If you're looking for authentic banh mi, this is not the place but if you're looking for delicious banh mi, this is definitely the place.

I was really happy with my flavourful meal! The pork belly banh mi tasted better than the kalbi but what, I'll give it 5 stars anyway! :) service was good and the food stayed relatively warm despite the driving time. Would love to have it fresh once ready next time, I'm sure it'll be 5++ stars. Missed this!

Viet fusion Banh Mi I had to try the Kalbi Beef Banh Mi. Yummy grilled kalbi beef, but I wish there was more meat. They weren't stingy on the pickled carrots and radish though. It's better than the ones in Chinatown, but I don't think it should be triple the price. The Pork Belly Steam Bao was a bit small, fatty and not grilled long enough. Surprisingly, I really liked the sides. The Sweet Potato Fries was well done. There's not enough spicy mayo, but you can ask for more. I also liked the refreshing Jicama Papaya Salad, with a vinaigrette dressing. Fresh and fast service. Definitely worth coming back for their other menu items.

This is my go to for a "sandwich" (or bao or taco or fries) that's good value - well-sized, fairly priced. I typically get a banh mi, but this past week I got the squid taco and the fried chicken bao. If you've been sleeping on their other options, don't miss out and give 'em a try. The friend chicken in particular is excellent and I am sad I haven't given it a try until now. I look forward to trying the secret menu club option (fried chicken + pork belly) the next time I am really hungry! PS: You can get the kimchi fries with sweet potato fries instead of the regular ones. If you don't want to ask, you can sub it in easily on Ritual.

    Club bao x2

Ever since I found out about the secret "club bao" nearly 2 years ago, I have been ordering this whenever I get a bao at Banh Mi Boys. This bao is perfect for people like me, who can't decide whether to get the fried chicken or pork belly. But remember to get lots of napkins and a fork when you eat this, it's going to be messy! I had club bao a few times now, and it always hits the spot for me. The fried chicken is juicy with a thin batter. Most of the time, the pork belly isn't overly fatty. The bao is soft and quite fluffy. However, the most recent time I had this bao, which is also the first time at this location, I was very thirsty afterwards. The bao wasn't overly saucey, so maybe they modify the sauce here? Overall, I really enjoyed the club bao and have recommended it to my friends and colleagues!

    Fried Chicken Bao - $4.75

I love bao , haven't had it in a long time and I haven't been to this location before so I was pretty excited to go. Price Range (Not including tax): $4-$7 per item. Food Quality (Taste, Serving Size, Menu) - 3.5/5 I'll admit I think I overhyped myself for this which is probably why it didn't meet my expectations. I got the Pork Belly Bao and the Fried Chicken Bao. I thought the food was good, It just didn't blow my mind. I usually love pork belly, so I was a bit disappointed by this one. I didn't think it had a lot of flavour, a spicer sauce would have helped. The fried chicken was pretty good, pretty crispy, I should have ordered a spicier sauce for this one as well. The quality of the bao was amazing, really soft. The vegetables were fresh. Just as you expect with bao, they aren't overly big. The meat to bao ratio was pretty good. I had 3 since I was pretty hungry and it filled me up quite well. Atmosphere - 3/5 It had a burger place look which I thought was good. They have some seating, since it is more of a quick meal. If you're going with a large group like 5+, It might be hard if it's busy time. Parking is a bit tough since they don't have their own lot. I'd recommend parking on a side street near by as some of them are free. Serivce - N/A You pay at the counter and picked up the food yourself so there really isn't much service involved. That being said, the cashier was nice and courteous. Wait times for food can vary, we had to wait about 5-10 mins but there were a lot of orders in front of us. I could see it taking less when it's not busy. We went around prime dinner time. Would I go there again? I do want to go there again to try the spicier options to see if it gives more flavour and to try the Kimchi Fries; I regret not getting them last time.

I went to the Banh Mi Boys restaurant on Yonge St north of Eglinton. The restaurant is nicely decorated and there are plenty of seating. The staff was friendly, but it took a while to get my food. I ordered the pork belly banh mi sandwich. It was very good and tasty. Would I go back? Yes, the pork belly banh mi sandwich was very good. I would like to tried the rest of the menu.

When I want to get a banhmi fix, this is my go to place. I recently tried their bao, which is the steamed white bun with pork belly. Because it's a little smaller compared to their banhmi, I ordered a side of kimchi fries with it. I really enjoyed the pork belly bao and is definitely not just a snack for me. The kimchi fries came in a generous portion, however, the kimchi didn't make the cut for me. Due to covid, all food orders are take away. I should have asked for the topping for the poutine to be packed separately for me to assemble when I get home. The fries were soggy by the time I got home. The taste was fine, there was pulled pork in there also. I felt the kimchi poutine was a meal on it's own. I will go back for their banhmi and baos.

Why have I not tried this sooner? Was in the area and I discovered that Banh Mi Boys is amazing. First off the store ambiance is great. Seating, cleanliness and a view of the food preparation area. When I went it wasn't too crowded (11:30ish) but I believe lines form around 12:30 until 2. Nonetheless, they seem fast and efficient. The menu is awesome and great pricing! I love how the menu has vegetarian options in each area too, that's a major plus for me. Decided on tofu fries and a Panko crusted tofu bao. my order was ready very swiftly. The tofu fries were delicious...basically kimchi fries but instead of pulled pork they substitute with tofu. This is incredibly filling...I was not able to finish the entire box. The tofu bao was delicious too!! Lightly fried Panko crusted tofu with Sriracha and fresh veggies....mmmm so good!! And the prices are so reasonable! I'll definitely be back soon.

Great place to visit for some super soft and fluffy Bao! Pork belly is our favourite.

I'm not really impressed with Banh Mi Boys. Tried them once downtown a few years ago and just felt it was overpriced Banh Mi. I'm Viet so I'm use to the original stuff in Vietnam or at least the small stores in Chinatown which sells for like $2-3 a sandwich. Decided to give them another go and tried the kimchi fries recently and thought it wasn't too bad but nothing to rave over. It wasn't hot enough for me but the kimchi added a unexpected spiciness to it that I did like. Primary issue I was a bit concerned about is the cleanliness. There were so many fruit flies where I was sitting... It was off putting. Like I had to repeatedly squat them away while eating. Staff need to take garbage out more frequently. Overall, my opinion hasn't really changed. I think its overpriced for what is offered and am confused by why everyone loves it so. If I'm ever in the mood, maybe I'll give them a 3rd chance and try the baos or a Banh Mi again. Lol

I was trying to eat a little healthier so I asked the waiter if it was possible to get the chow mein noodles simply boiled instead of also fried - if not that's totally okay I would simply get a different dish. There was a bit of a language barrier but he seemed to understand and said they could do it. The food took a very long time to come, well over half an hour. Unfortunately it seems like my request for the noodles wasn't interpreted correctly, as they came deep fried as normal. I know this is a risk that comes when ordering with a language barrier, but slightly unfortunate nonetheless. The chow mein was definitely heavy on the dark soy sauce and too salty for my preference. I did appreciate how generous they were with the meat and veggies though. My boyfriend got the cashew chicken and he enjoyed his dish. To note, none of the proteins come with rice and you have to order it on the side. Overall this restaurant is just okay, and doesn't really compare to the other great and affordable Chinese options in the city. However, in a pinch it works.

Many people complained about the lack of juice and thick wrappers. So I did not have high expectations. Surprisingly, their XLBs were good. Yes, the amount of soup is small, but it's there enough to taste the deep flavor. Yes, the wrapper was thicker than those popular XLB places, but beautifully pleated and had no leak. Transfer to the container was carefully done, which I appreciated greatly. The meat texture is good, without any stringiness. It was smooth and tender and with a well-rounded flavor. If it had a little more soup, and the skin was a bit thinner, it could participate in the best XLB competition (organized by me lol ) in GTA. Starting to feel winter in the air, I thought eating this XLB may be enjoyable on a cold day :) The restaurant had a high ceiling with stylish decorations - nice!

We have at least a dozen Thai restaurants but not a single Korean one, somehow. So I was surprised and delighted when I discovered that Hosu was operating a ghost kitchen out of ChiChop. I knew I had to try this for myself, so on a recent (and very cold) Thursday, I placed my order. I decided to get the Chicken Bibim Bap ("Original Korean bibim bop served with an assortment of vegetables & marinated chicken on rice") and it was ready for pickup as soon as I walked into ChiChop. It's fine. The accompanying gochujang sauce ensures that it always tastes like the venerable Korean dish, but the lack of ingredients was frustrating. I feel like this dish was 90% rice and glass noodles, and 10% other components (including chicken rife with inedible pieces). I ate the whole thing, of course, but was my bibimbap craving satisfied? Not entirely. We also decided to start with the Deep Fry Wonton ("Deep fried Chicken Wonton (12pcs) served with house made sweet & sour sauce), which was okay but nothing special. The chicken filling was so minuscule that it was almost impossible to taste, but the sweet & sour sauce was decent.

From the outside, the familiar black-and-white sign was clean but showed signs of age, with faint white streaks suggesting that the exterior could use a refresh. Inside, we were greeted by a wall of colourful sticky notes, adding a fun touch to the dark, brick-lined interior. I also appreciated the nearby sink, making it easy to wash our hands without heading to the bathroom. It was definitely convenient. After being seated, the menu left much to be desired. It showed its age, with white scratches that made it hard to read the items. The ordering system was not intuitive for a first-time visitor, so we had to rely on our server for guidance. Also, the drinks menu looked like a printout from Excel, which was small, hard to read and, unfortunately, overpriced. We ordered the Matey's Feast along with another order of seafood, which was a generous meal for three people. Matey's Feast is one of their set meals that allowed us to choose two types of seafood, along with a variety of sides. Each boil also came with two regular sides, which was a nice touch. We went with Captain's Boil seasoning at medium spice, which was just right for enjoying the seafood. The boils arrived in clear bags, and we had to take them out of the bag and eat by hand. Shrimp Basket: A hot and crispy appetizer served on a bed of Cajun fries, which really whetted my appetite. The tartar sauce and ketchup on the side complemented the crunch. Captain's Fried Rice with Seafood: A simple but tasty plate of rice with shrimp. We added some of the sauce from the seafood boils for extra flavour. It was filling. Seafood Boils: Each bag of seafood was packed with seasoning and came with disposable gloves so we could dig in with our hands. The clams were cooked perfectly, with just the right amount of spices. The shrimp required a bit more work, with the heads and shells needing to be removed, but they were large and fresh, making it worth the effort. The extra sauce in each bag was perfect for drenching our sides or adding more flavour to the fried rice. Sides: We chose corn for the regular sides and sausage for the premium side. Corns were quarter-length cobs of corn and the sausages were served sliced. We tossed both into the seafood boil bags to soak up the spicy sauce, making them even more enjoyable. The service was adequate, with staff checking in occasionally to ensure we had everything we needed. The washroom, located downstairs, was not spotless but still serviceable. In terms of value, I found the pricing to be on the higher side. The drinks, at $4 each, were refillable but expensive considering I only had two cups. Given that it's a seafood restaurant, higher prices were expected, but I appreciated that sides like fries and fried rice helped fill us up. Overall, I had a good time. My rating of 3 reflects the tricky ordering process and steep prices, but the food was definitely enjoyable, and I left feeling full. I'd return if I was in the mood for seafood boil and ready to splurge a little.

There was a table free, but it's like they didn't want to clear it, which is fine. We weren't upset when we were seated our server, didn't come back for a good next 20 minutes. Our server was straight to the point didn't care to introduce himself. Didn't really want to explain anything on the menu or offer us anything more when we were inquiring about different foods, which is fine our order was missing a side of calamari and literally every side with the seafood so the corn potatoes and etc., even extra sides that we ordered were missing. We thought they come separately so we were waiting, but we got so hungry. We just started eating the gloves they gave us. We didn't get a bucket, never inquired about anything. Our server didn't come back to ask us if we needed anymore assistance or anything we had to pull another server to the side and ask them if we still going to get our calamari in our sides and she implies that came in with the seafood bag. We just didn't know how it worked. We never been there and you would think someone that works. There would know what they're doing, but that's OK. Things happen so we asked for our sides but this is how I know our server which was a male was out to get us when my friend kindly asked for some water and our server proceeds to give her hot water on purpose when my friend turned around and shocked to look for the server he gave her a dead blank stare with a little grin. At that point we just wanted to go we asked the server that was supposed to give us our sides, which by the way didn't come another 10 minutes pass by we just asked for the check and told her we don't want the sides anymore. We just wanna go. Our server, which was the mail gives us our bill and I see that the sides are still on there. He proceeds to say it's a part of the package and then we said OK just give us the sides and then he proceeds with a lot of attitude to say well you are the one that sent the sides back, our food was already halfway done lol we just paid and ran out. I think the service in here is disgusting and the server that served us purposely had a problem with us. He was so kind of everybody else in the restaurant besides me and my friend all servers were amazing everybody else besides me and my friend and we didn't come in there. Complaining are making attitude are doing anything rude, we were kind and we still got treated like garbage. I think this change should be embarrassed of their selves. The manager should be embarrassed, and the guy serving us should be fired giving my friend hot water is evil and disgusting. He knew what he was doing and honestly, I don't even trust the food the way they were acting if you guys want sass and attitude with your food then yeah eat here.
