Came to Com Tam Kieu in San Gabriel with my friend for lunch after not visiting for almost 10…read moreyears. I believe they've been under new management for quite some time, but I never got around to giving them another try. I'm glad I finally did because the food has improved significantly since my last visit. One of the biggest improvements is their charbroiled pork. I remember it having that artificial liquid smoke flavor, but now you can actually see the char marks and taste the smokiness from the grill. The broken rice is also on par with some of my favorite cơm tấm spots in Orange County. This time, I came specifically to try their hủ tiếu, and it did not disappoint. The broth had a rich, savory bone flavor with plenty of depth. The Hủ Tiếu Nam Vang (dry) came with generous portions of meat and a bone to enjoy alongside the noodles. What I appreciated most was that everything was flavorful on its own. Unlike Kim Ky Noodle House down the street, where I usually find myself adding plenty of satay sauce, I didn't need to doctor up the noodles or broth here. Service was acceptable. Nothing particularly memorable, but the staff took care of what we needed. The ambiance is your typical casual Vietnamese restaurant. Nothing fancy, but comfortable enough to enjoy a good meal. Be prepared for a possible wait during peak lunch and dinner hours, especially on weekends. Parking can also be challenging during those busy hours since the surrounding area gets congested with customers visiting nearby restaurants and businesses. Overall, Com Tam Kieu is a night-and-day difference from what I remembered 10 years ago. The improved charbroiled pork, flavorful hủ tiếu, and generous portions make this place worth revisiting. I'll definitely be back whenever I'm craving good Vietnamese comfort food without having to drive all the way to Orange County.

The servers were very friendly, and helped me order something I could enjoy. The crab egg rolls were unique, not at all fishy or overly crabby flavored, but very good. The beef pho was very good, the broth was fantastic, and the noodles were really good. It took the server a little time to see me struggling with the typical spoon, and she brought me a fork (no shame in using a fork). It's a pretty small restaurant, 10-16 tables/booths. Well lit, and clean. I'd definitely come here again.

Here staying at the Sheraton next door…read moreand was craving for Pho and decided to try this place as it was literally a 3 minute walk from the hotel. The first thing that caught my attention was that they had a limited menu for a Pho place which tells me that these are the best dishes that they make at home that they want their customers to try! So I saw that they had Pho Ga so I had to try it. OMG!! It was so delish, the broth was well seasoned and balanced, great amount of chicken and they had this side condiment of ginger, fish sauce, lime dipping sauce that just added so much depth and umami Either you can pour this dipping sauce to your Pho or what I did was dipped my chicken and slurpped it down with my noodles and broth and it was BOMB!! Then they have crab meat egg roll which was also very good but could have added just a tinge of saltiness to just make it a home run!! Service was quick, few tables inside and will definitely come back here again and try the other Bun Bo Hue and hainan chicken. So if you're around SGV, this is a must try Pho place!!

We haven't been back in about three years and we're glad we came back to try this place again…read more There's a parking lot with underground parking as well as street parking. The servers were very nice and attentive. We ordered Combo #1 which came with Sweet and Sour Catfish Soup, Vietnamese Braised Fish, Braised Pork with Egg, and Steamed Rice. My parents and my wife shared this combo and it was more than enough food. They all enjoyed it, especially the catfish soup. I enjoyed the Braised Pork with Egg, which went well over rice. The Vietnamese fish was on the sweater side if you prefer sweet over savory. I also ordered a pick 3 Item Pho, which I chose only two items - filet steak and brisket - and I upgraded to the stone bowl (well worth it). The pho came out sizzling with the rare filet steak and noodles on the side for you to put in at your own pace. I also used their spicy satay sauce they provide at the table and that went really well with my beef. The pho was absolutely delicious! Overall, I'm glad we returned to try this restaurant again after a few years. The food is great and you should definitely try their stone bowl pho!

I wasn't sure the wait would be worth it -- especially having to check in as a solo diner -- but since I'd already parked on the street, I was committed. Thankfully, the wait wasn't long and I was seated quickly. I stuck with my usual order rather than trying anything new, and the pho did not disappoint. The flavor was on point and just as delicious as I remembered. One thing to note: this place limits you to three topping choices. Unlike other pho spots where a special order comes loaded with every cut of beef imaginable, here you choose exactly which parts of the cow you want. It's a different experience, but worth knowing before you order.

Comes in a hot stone broth with 2 beef ribs and meatballs, pho and rare beef on the side. Noodles are thin, firm, and bouncy. Love the texture. Broth is always flavorful, on point! Comes with a side of greens, sour carrots, and fish sauce to add more flavor (I noticed it didn't come with the noodles unlike the other location). Would definitely get the imperial rolls again. There was a bit of a (short) wait when I went. There's less tables than the other location, but it was still super spacious. Interior was super clean and aesthetic. Loved that their bathrooms were also very clean! Staff is super friendly and helpful even though they were quite busy. Overall loved my experience here and their pho. Would definitely recommend. My wife and I visited on a weekend morning for lunch and the queue was already out the door. We waited about 20 minutes after lining up via their Yelp check in system. Once seated, we ordered pretty quickly and service was quick as well. Interior has plenty of tables and is moderately spacious. You're not completely cramped but you're close to other tables. Other than that, it's pretty much standard Vietnamese style restaurant. We ordered their Banh Mi sandwich to share ($9.50+) which is pretty expensive for a Banh Mi, can find cheaper elsewhere. The sandwich itself is delicious and pretty standard to where you find Banh Mi sandwiches. As for entrees, we both ordered the Bun Rieu and the Combination Pho. Both came out pretty quickly and the presentation is very neat. I was very pleased with the Pho as the portions are pretty massive. Each bite was very flavorful and not too salty. The Bun Rieu is just as good. It's has a bit of a sweeter taste as the tomato broth takes plenty of the flavor. Both are very popular and I highly recommend ordering them. Overall, a popular place for a reason. They're almost always packed and for good reason. They're quality of food is great, paired with efficient and quick service. This spot is one of the core of SGV and it continues to be. My wife and I will definitely be back many times to try other dishes.

Service is friendly and quick here. Restaurant is clean, simple and modern. Plaza and parking can get fisted and bad though, so be wary. I got the: 1) Tay Ho Banh Cuon Set: -I got this with their standard spicy house dipping sauce. -Comes with their crispy fritters, an egg roll and the cha (pork "meat loaf"). Generous amount of protein and the "rice roll" had the perfect slightly chewy texture that wasn't soggy or too dry. -Fritters were a crispy at some parts, a bit hard and sharp at others. Kind of greasy, but not too bad. -The house dipping sauce wasn't too fishy or salty either which is perfect. -Unfortunately, I despise beansprouts so this went to my parents. 2) Lap Xuong Fried Rice: -Healthy service of regular fried rice. A tad oily but came with a good amount of the sweet Chinese sausage. 3) Viet Yogurt: -I thought this wasn't sweet at all and too sour, but my mom liked it. 4) Vietnamese Iced Coffee: -My dad said it was a tad too sweet, but he overall enjoyed the caffeine content of it. Overall, solid banh cuon and refreshing from the regular trays we get elsewhere.
