It was actually my first time visiting Mr. baguette. I have heard lots of things, but the Lees sandwich has always been right next to me and the closest option. We decided to come to the location since it was my boyfriend's first time trying out these type of sandwiches and we decided to stop by to compare since he had the day before. The sandwich is definitely small smaller and more Mom and pop shop feel, service was quick and people were nice. They do have a decent sandwich if you're craving the style, and was one of the original on what I heard. Really the review here is the same, This chain confines to be my favorite bahn mi spot. While prices have gone up significantly over the years, the taste remains second to none. My go-to orders are the special and the chicken--both consistently excellent. The meats are high quality, the bread is fresh and bouncy, and the condiments, especially the pâté and mayo, are noticeably better than what you'll find at most other spots. I often buy containers of their mayo and duck pâté to take home and enjoy with my own baguettes. They've also introduced a newer option called the soft baguette, which leans more toward a sweet, dessert-style bread. Nostalgia aside, this place simply doesn't miss when it comes to food. I started coming to this Mr. Baguette location since it's right across from Kim Ky Noodles so it's been pretty convenient. I typically order their special banh mi (dac biet). To be honest, I think the location in Rosemead is a tad better as their baguettes seem to be more fresh and has a better crunch compared to this one. But the overall banh mi is still solid. Was recommended to try this place because my sister says she liked the banh mis better than the one I usually go to. They have a LOT of options here and I really liked that there were lots of vegan options too. I tried their classic and vegan chicken and both were pretty good. I felt like I preferred to have more pate though but they were good sandwiches. The Pate chaud were also good but my favorite thing about it was the pastry-their pastries and breads were really good. I wouldn't say it's my favorite banh mis though and they're a bit pricier than the one I usually go to. I did love their iced coffee! read more

I've been coming to Mr. Baguette since I was young and this place still hits the same. I only came in for a quick coffee and raisin pastry and both were reasonably priced and delicious. I'm not a fan of Vietnamese baguette sandwiches, but this place is conveniently located on my way to work. Compared to another chain bakery, Mr. Baguette's flavors are milder. The other one uses more mayonnaise, tastes sweeter, and offers a wider variety. I'm not a fan of ham, but I tried it once--it had a taste I really couldn't accept, and the texture wasn't good either. They have a combo with three mini baguettes where you can choose three different flavors, which is nice, but I only liked two: the chicken, and the egg with cheese. The clam chowder is pretty average--nothing special or particularly rich. There are only about four or five tables inside. I went early, so it wasn't crowded; most people order takeout. read more

There wouldn't be an issue if she told us before hand but as someone who works in customer service satisfying the customer should always be number one priority and take accountability over running out of bread. I also got a Thai Tea and he got the iced coffee. My god, both were so delicious! That was one of the best Thai teas I had ever had. The banh mi was simple and delicious. The bread on the outside was crunchy but not too crunchy, and the inside was super soft. The Thai tea was not too sweet but really flavorful. My fiancé loved the coffee and the sandwich as well. This location is my family's go-to spot for our banh mi needs. The bread here is fresh, but if you eat it the next day, it gets hard as a rock. Seriously. My teeth go through some major trauma just trying to bite through them. The buns with meatball inside are EXTREMELY oily. If you barely touch the buns, you can still see and feel the oil oozing out. The taste itself is a hit or a miss, as well. I have cilantro aversion, so I ask for no cilantro in my banh mi. When I request this, they also take the carrots out, even though I love carrots. I'm assuming it is the language barrier. So, I started asking for the veggies on the side, just in case I don't miss on the carrots, as well. Their jalapenos are extremely hot, so beware! I mainly go here for that strong iced coffee. It's made differently here than the one on Atlantic Blvd. they usually add the condensed milk first, then add the dark, rich French coffee, but here, it's already pre made. It is a lil pricey at 3.50$, but worth it. Their sandwiches are pretty good, and also pricey. When you're craving a banh mi sandwich, you will go the distance to get one. My visit involved this craving as I headed to Mr.Baguette. This place was recommended by a chef I know for a pretty good banh mi sandwich. I thought, "Well if he's a chef, he should know what he's talking about." Walking into this location, it was very empty. Surprising. It was only early evening, but no one was in there. I saw the cook in the back and the register lady comes up to the register and takes my order. I ask her questions about the different types of Ga Banh Mi and she looked confused. She had an accent, so I decided to let it go and order by the look of the pictures. I went for the grilled chicken. It came with pickled shredded carrots. It was a bit on the salty side, but was a footlong sandwich, so it was filling. I also tried their *strong* iced coffee. Whew...STRONG! So in all, a good place to get your banh mi.
