This place has excellent Vietnamese food. My in-laws are Vietnamese, and we always go here whenever we eat out. The servers here speak Vietnamese, and I'm actually unsure whether or not they speak English, but Banh Cuon Hoa is as authentic as it comes. Each time we've come, there seem to be few customers eating here, though they have plenty of tables and chairs to host large groups. The menu is in English and Vietnamese, so ordering should be straightforward. The last time I ate here, I had their beef over rice, which comes with a fried egg, vegetables on the side, and a small bowl of soup. Everything was perfectly seasoned and flavored. The beef was marinated with fish sauce, but it was balanced. I can see myself eating this dish day in and out if I lived in Houston! However, I usually get their pho with brisket and meatballs. The pho broth is consistently tasty, and they put a lot of meat in each bowl. The bean sprouts, Thai basil, and lime wedges they serve alongside pho are always fresh and seemingly picked just that morning. Pho usually comes out about 5 minutes after you order it. If you order anything else, they make it fresh and from scratch. Sometimes, this means a longer wait, but the food always comes out delicious.

Quick, friendly, and efficient service -- we got our food within ten minutes of ordering. I know for certain I can always rely on the bun cha ha noi from here, which came with grilled pork and sausage in a light fish sauce dressing. Pairing it with fresh herbs and vermicelli noodles and you're in for a super delicious meal that's also equally nutritious.

I've noted the frequency of the low ratings/reviews for this place. This was my first time dining in here (Nov. 2022) with a party of 8 people and we had a good experience. The service and timing was just fine, our server was very friendly although she did not speak much English. Most of our table ordered either the banh cuon dac biet or the banh uot dac biet and it was so delicious, for a great price. The steamed rice rolls were thin, everything was fresh, and the portions were plenty. If you're in the northern area of Houston, I'd definitely recommend this place for your Viet fix!

my family loves coming here for their banh cuon! we have been coming here for ages and though i like their banh cuon, other dishes are lacking in my opinion.. service is very quick and prices are good as well. canh bun - 6/10 a tad bland (my parents love this dish though!!) banh cuon - 9/10 very good very authentic.

Exceeded my expectations. I'm biased to thinking best and freshest Vietnamese food is only found on Bellaire. The service was fast and the food was just out of the kitchen of mom's house. My favorite was their freshly ground/cut peppers for the dipping sauce. Be CAREFUL! Freshly ground/cut also means high spice levels. I used my "normal" amount because most restaurants use a factory crushed peppers so heat levels aren't as high. I needed extra water and ice to handle it. Definitely will return to try other dishes.

I haven't been to this place for a while (I don't live in the area) but remember that my last exp was so not bad. I came back during this COVID situation w a bit of apprehension ...are they clean? Are they doing the social distancing ...(cuz some of us do care about this stuff) they are doing the social distancing and yes they're are enforcing face mask ...I can tell they care about their employees and the utensils are now plastics and disposable... Any who, onto food: Their specialty: I thought it was yummilicious and very legit. The skin were thin and filling yummy. I find the grilled ones too be ...a tad too much for me but overall was a really good option. (Took one star off for the vegetable!) Banh Beo: my Hue fav and I love how their presentation looks. I initially thought it was bánh bèo quản but it's not, they just didn't mince all the shrimps. I like the mouth feel of this combination though. Wish they give me some spicy chilly but all in all, a def return for all my fav when I'm in the area again.

First time and will be last time here. Arrived around lunchtime, place was somewhat crowded, lots of dirty tabes, and several tables available. Super slow service, horrible customer service, and wrong food brought out. When we arrived, we headed to sit at one of the empty middle section that has 3-4 connected tables. Some patrons were already seated at one end and eating. The waitress came over and said we couldn't sit there, said something about saving it for larger parties. So we asked where we could sit, she pointed to a table right next to the door- I told her, we don't want to sit by the door, it is cold outside with it constantly opening. So she looks around and tells us to go wait by one of the dirty tables. So, we go stand by the dirty table and wait for the one single guy that's taking 10 minutes cleaning each table. After standing awhile, we sit down and the guy starts coming over with his cart, taking the dirty bowls. While clearing our table, he takes 3 trips to the back kitchen, grabbing random items like the cleaner, the rag- no idea why he doesn't have those items on his cleaning cart?! As he's wiping our table, he asks if anyone's taken our order, we said no and he said he can help us. We told him our order and he goes to the back before he finishes cleaning our table. He then reappeared and slowly took his cart to clear another dirty table. Few minutes later, another girl arrived and asked us for our order again, saying the guy that took our order is new and doesn't know Vietnamese much, so they had no idea what order he took for us. After telling her our order, we ended up getting the incorrect order. I got a dry chewy Hu Tieu Nam Vang and got a beef soup with sate sauce. Asked her if my they brought me the right order, she said Yes and walked away. Didn't ask how it was wrong or if I wanted to get something else. The complete dining experience was terrible- messy dirty noisy setting on top of rude service and bad food, we will NOT be back.

If you are concerned about service and cleanliness, then this place is probably not for you. Being that I'm used to this at certain places of this demographic, I don't care. I come for the banh cuon with the ground pork n mushrooms + the duck summer salad. They used to have this one dessert that's called Che Ba May [3 color dessert], but it's always sold out? Considering that this is in the north side and only place for banh cuon I would go to, it's probably the best you can get up north.

The most unsanitary place ever. The restroom is disgusting and smells like roaches. So I ordered this bowl of noodle, and when I was almost finished I found a lil friend floating. I'm 5 months pregnant and i was so disgusted so I told the waitress about it but she showed no remorse. She was just like oops sorry it flew in maybe . Then they still charged us full price. Never go to this place ever again.

    Where's the rest of it?

Came in for a Friday lunch to find only 2 tables were occupied. Yet, they've manage to cut us short with the half eaten Banh Tom. Mid way through eating, a big roach crawled up from under the table. Completely lost all appetite, and left right away. I've eaten here many times, and the food quality and cleanliness has gotten worse each time. It's too good to be true a place can live up to its standard after many years. I wouldn't come back, there are other banh mi, pho, hu tieu restaurants around that won't let you down.

The fact that this place doesn't have better reviews is shocking. Small family run business, large menu, quick service, reasonably priced food. Everything is homemade and delicious. Restaurant is clean, tables are filled with sauces and plasticware. We ordered the Banh Cuon dat biet and it was huge, super filling for only $8.50!

I'm sure I reviewed this place several years ago and it mysteriously is one of those that disappeared, thank you Yelp sales associates *wink*. From a 4 star review when there was a visible owner that was always there to make sure things ran great to a "something happened over time" happening to the food that went to the normal ranking. When I say this I am talking about the pre bowled Pho noodles that you will find to separate in a clump at the bottom of your soup to the semi bland tofu special they had on the dry eraser board. It seems that the specialty here are the steamed rice dishes with pork and other ingredients (Banh cuon nhan thit). The service started out not so good but really picked up at the end. It was like someone poked the pig on the butt and it woke up so I don't have any quelms about that, in fact it even got better than most Asian places. Parking at lunch rush is a little tough so get there before the rush. It's one worth a try if you are ever this way, the reviews are across the board so you be rewarded by your own visit and judgement here.

Combination Banh Cuon. Note: The bean sprouts are cooked. They aren't old.

The bánh cuon here is excellent. I normally don't like bánh cuon because it never fills me up and it has a lot of refined carbs (main ingredients are rice flour and tapioca flour), but I can make the exception here. An important part of the dish is the steamed rice batter, similar to how tortillas are important to tacos or burritos. The steamed rice batter has just the right taste and texture. Unlike some of the other places I tried, it's not slimy and it is noticely fresh. The combination of bean sprouts, lettuce (?), and mint leaves makes this dish a perfect light meal. (Note that the bean sprouts are cooked. Some people may think it's old because cooked bean sprout loses it's rigidity and crispiness. This is normal.) With that said though, the chicken rice plate is just sub-par. It comes with pickled veggies, soup, a huge mound of rice, egg cake, and a small amount of thinly cut grilled chicken. The amount of chicken is suitable for a kindergartener. If you are in the mood for a chicken rice plate, I highly recommend going to Pho 579 (which is just down the street) because the portion of chicken is bigger and more tender for almost the same price. As for sides/appetizers, the spring rolls ($3) are good but the peanut sauce can use some refinement. I find that the sauce is too thin and incomplete. The egg rolls are just ok. Very crispy but lacks in taste. The service here was excellent. Our food came out quickly and our water cups were always filled. I think it really helped that our group spoke Vietnamese though since there was a language barrier. Our waiter only knew a bit of English but good enough to take orders.

They stare at you like a deer in headlights; mouth wide open, eyes bucked out of the socket, looking more uncomfortable than a baby tasting a lemon for the first time. Thank goodness there were natives in the store, not that it helped ease me. Though, they left quick and scurried across the store without even having contact with us. The male owner was helpful, but acted as if I was a lot younger than my age and treated me like I was ignorant. I couldn't find the sweet Indian snack, but I did find something a lot better. Lots of Indian snacks, sweets, ingredients, frozen foods, teas, and even fresh produce. The prices seemed pricey, not so much reasonable. No expired goods. I can't say I'll be back to this store as Hwy 3 is known for having lots of Indian grocery.
