They also have a spectacular selection of teas, with smaller corresponding tins to smell each blend, then you can buy however much loose leaf tea you like. I'm looking forward to trying what we got - blueberry Roob's I think. They had black, green, white, herbal, oolong, Roobois, and I may be forgetting some, but a really impressive selection and friendly helpful staff. Against the backdrop of bitter Banff winter winds - we welcomed the cozy atmosphere and impressive array of hand blended teas that lined the back wall of Banff Tea. This intimate space was curated to perfection with tea books, darling tea towels, tea strainers, and a variety of other fun tea related products. In addition to buying signature blends - you can also buy hot tea to go. We just did that. Cindy - the lovely staff member who was there - was so helpful and we loved learning more about her and this darling store. You could that that she was genuinely passionate about quality natural teas. I ended up picking a fantastic non-caffeinated tea to go - called the Traveler's Tea (very appropriate) which was comprised of Lemongrass, white mistletoe, st john's wort, bean-pods, birch leaf, ginkgo leaves, nettle and natural flavouring. I was hit with perfume when I walked in, so I had already lowered my expectations. Then, I was surprised that even the Druid's Magic, a combination of black and green teas, tasted like perfume instead of tea. The flavor seeping in that drink, as well as their Watermelon oolong, both tasted artificial. If you like real tea (i.e. something you'd buy from Taiwan or China), I would not get anything here. If you like perfumed teas that appears to be commonplace to westernized tea shops, then sure. read more

If you are visiting Banff, come here to buy some tea! This is not a sit down and buy a cup of tea shop but a place to buy loose leaves. All of the loose tea leaves are in glass jars that you are welcome to open and smell. After much debate, my husband and I bought a 5 gram bag of the Banff Earl Grey Snowflake blend. It was only about $6-$7! The shop has a lot of variety and even "health" options like sleep/relaxing tea, immune boosting, female health, etc. Tea making accessories are also available for purchase and we brought a small stainless steel tea infuser. Stumbled upon this place while looking for things to do and I'm glad I found it. They have great selection of blended teas, and you can smell the samples. I was so overwhelmed coming to this place with the variety they had. You can buy 50g bags as well as they have some small samplers for a dollar. Needed up buying about 300 grams. Love this store for tea. I was looking for a particular tea--Ontario Ice Wine which I tried during Afternoon Tea at The Fairview Restaurant at Chateau Lake Louise. Surprisingly they carried it. The sales person brewed me a large cup so I can try it here. The selection is wide and the varieties of teas are very unique. The salesperson measured the loose leaves into a package and I was able to customize how much I wanted to buy. I took home 94g for about $25. Banff Tea Company is a cute little shop located in downtown Banff. A must place to go if you love tea and or looking for souvenirs! Their store is full of aesthetically pleasing and organized rows and shelves of specialty teas. From green teas, black teas, spice, oolong, health and etc, they got you covered. Their teas are specialized and carefully blended together at a reasonable price point ($6.00-$10.00 for a 50 gram bag). I ended up getting: - "Knock Yourself Out" = Their #1 selling tea and is known to put you to sleep. Although I don't get the sleepy effects, it's a perfect cup of tea to whine down the day with. - "Plain of Six Glaciers" = Specialized for the area and only other place it is sold is at the tea house at Lake Louise. - "Cream of Earl Grey" = Provides a slight creamy taste to a classic earl grey. - "Rocky Mountain Christmas" = Smells like Christmas in a cup. If you're looking for one memento to take home from your time in Banff, skip the moose toys and plaid onesies and head to the Banff Tea Company. They offer an extraordinary variety of teas at very reasonable prices (generally between $7-$8 for a 50 gram bag), and make a light, easily-packable treat from your time in the Rockies. Many of their teas are loose, though they do offer some bagged varieties. A lot of them have a unique regional connection, such as the Plain of Six Glaciers variety, which is also sold at the Plain of Six Glaciers tea house at Lake Louise. One unusual flavor that I'm really digging on right now is the Nutcracker--a marzipan inspired rooibus tea that is Christmasy and delicious. They also sell all manner of tea towels and tea pots, and other paraphernalia. I've always had pleasant exchanges with the staff. They brew up a particular flavor for the day that you can sample while you browse. While out souvenir shopping with my family I decided to stop in the Banff Tea shop. The two ladies working were so lovely and very helpful. I was excited to see that I could purchase the same teapot that we had used just days before at the Lake Agnes Teahouse. That was quite a hike, and that teapot will bring back some great memories. They also have many options of loose tea for purchase. I liked that they have sampler bags where you can pick five different teas and get two cups worth of each. Such a lovely little shop with staff who help you make informed decisions about tea. They blend their own tea blends, which are only available at the Banff town store. I went in thinking that I would just take a look and found so many unique blends of tea that I wanted to have at home. Even among the traditional teas, they have variations, such as earl grey tea blends with notes of cream or green tea earl grey blends, as well as medicinal herbal blends. Hello. My name in Bianca and I'm a tea'aholic! Any time I travel I make it my mission to seek out local tea companies and buy a couple of their signature blends or most popular pure teas to take home with me. I try to avoid the big national tea chain stores (you know who they are) as much as possible (although I do sometimes have a real weakness for a cup of iced tea to go from that light blue tea store) and support local purveyors. Banff Tea Co. Was like tea heaven for me! They have so many different teas, literally walls and walls of it, the most difficult decision I had to make was which teas to leave behind as I couldn't fit every tea I wanted into my suitcase! Minimum purchase is 50g however if you don't want to commit to that amount they also have prepackaged sample packs for $15 which gives you 5x15 gram samples of various themed teas (black, green, white, exclusive blends etc.) or you can pick up a one tea cup sample for around $2 each. Since I tend to have a good idea of the types of teas like and feel like I can generally get good single teas at home, I went with a couple of 50g bags of their signature blends (black bear, milky coconut oolong, Alyssa's Summer Sunshine, Sweet dreams of Banff, and Creme an caramel which they also sell at the Lake Agnes and Plain of the Six Glacier tea houses in Lake Louise). Since I couldn't decide on a couple others I also picked up a sample pack of their exclusive blends which gave me a chance to try some of their other interesting blends. In fact, as I'm sitting here typing this I am enjoying a cup of Rocky Mountain Christmas Blend which is the perfect mix of mulled spices and candied apples! I absolutely love their selection of teas, there are always different ones to try, the staff is always very helpful and knowledgeable.
