I frequently stop here on the way out of the airport. I'm happy to say that the service level at their shop has improved significantly. (although I really thought their food truck was such a Portland thing, it was sad to see it go from the airport terminal.) I like their marinated chicken sandwiches a lot. The chicken has great flavor, the bread is fresh - a french roll, the veggies in the sandwich are crisp and tasty. The folks are very helpful, the service is quick and I can get a sandwich to go and be on my way in under 5 min and under $10. While a lot of places in the airport seem to be a rip off / time waster, I am trilled that Bambuza doesn't follow that crowd. I have also enjoyed their spring rolls - crisp, tasty and not so expensive. I'll keep stopping by when I'm out at the airport, it's a healthier alternative to many of the other options and the flavor can't be beat. read more

Great place while waiting for boarding plane. The employees are exceptional and provide great service.

I go here whenever I'm in PDX. The grilled chicken is tender and its outside is beautifully caramelized. I like how much cilantro is in the chicken bowl too! It would be 5 stars, but it takes forever. It's a bit overpriced. Also...the interlocking paper lid is terrible because it's so hard to eat out of! Why won't restaurants abandon this? :0 read more

Great place to grab some fresh delicious hot vietnamese food when traveling through Portland International airport. Their soup is some of the best I've ever had it always has fresh vegetables, at least 5 won tons and plenty of noodles. It is a large serving and I can't every finish it, I always think about taking it on the plane but I'm scared that I will spill it. The fresh rolls are very good as well and that is something I take with me. My husband had the pork sandwich bahn na and it was very good, he finished the whole thing. They put the veggies in first before the pork which was good so it wasn't spilling all over the place. This location does serve beer and wine so if you just want a drink and appie this is good too. They had a sign saying that they deliver to your gate which I thought was pretty cool but I like sitting at their tables incase I need any condiments or anything. Counter help was really nice and food was fresh and hot, pretty special for an airport location. I stop here every trip through PDX. read more

The pork vermicelli bowl is excellent as I'd the bahn mi sandwiches. It was so good we went back after our return flight. The second trip sandwiches pork wasn't as good as the first visit but was still pretty good otherwise I would of given them 5 stars read more

We have eaten at Bambuza the last two times we've been through PDX, and we've been very impressed with the quality of the vegetarian food. Too often, pho is just a heap of noodles in salty broth, but the vegetarian pho served here is chock full of tofu and vegetables and loaded with flavor. We liked the Pho so much we actually took some of it home to the Bay Area to have leftovers the next day! The banh mi, as is the case with most similar sandwiches I've tried, was a little dry for my taste because of the ratio of baguette to filling, but the ingredients themselves were very tasty, and the bread dipped in the broth from the pho was just heavenly. We have never encountered a long line here on weekends and have got our food in less than 5 minutes both times. I would strongly recommend this restaurant for solid vegetarian food at PDX. read more

Long wait time, the ladies that work there seemed confused on who was doing what. Did not know how to use airline vouchers. What's advertised is NOT what you get at all. The 2 stars are because the ladies were working hard and the taste was not not too bad. Otherwise it is cheap fast food, airport prices and false advertising. read more

This is a Vietnamese fast food chain in Portland ( I had no idea they could Do that with Vietnamese Food!!). I'm a bit picky when it comes to Vietnamese food. I don't want people to think that 3stars is bad. I think that it is average and therefore when in need of some pho at an international airport ...it's a legitimate place to satiate your craving. We had a classic bowl of pho and were pleasantly surprised by how flavorful it was. I was half expecting it to be beef bouillon mixed with a splash of soy sauce but it actually tasted edible. Let's see, how would I describe the broth....which is very important since it makes the dish..... ...I would say felt like they at least stewed some beef and bones for about 4hours...threw in a small amount of star anise for the classic flavoring and then over did it a bit on the sugar... The broth was slightly too sweet to me. This was easily balanced with some lemon, hoisen sauce and siracha. Again average broth and so for an aiport pho which is pretty damn impressive and if 3.5stars was an option I'd give it that! read more

I've given Bambuza multiple tries and keep getting disappointed. Egg rolls are mushy inside with no real texture, soup is bland (tried the wonton soup), salad rolls are the only thing I'd really come back to order which is why I gave them 2 stars. I ordered the Thai tea and came back to exchange it for an iced coffee because it just tasted like milk and water. They happened to be out of iced coffee and the person taking orders told me to "just add 10 packets of sugar to it, that's what I did." I get this is just a stand at the airport but I've finally said I'm probably not going back here again (unless I'm craving some salad rolls and I can't wait to get them elsewhere). read more

Good food, decent prices. Do yourself a favor and don't add the tiny spring roll for 2$

The 1st time I was here I had the wonton soup and it was great. The 2nd time, not so much. So, this time I was going to try something new. I got the Pork Banh Mi sandwich. I 'thought' it would be good. Again, not so much. The pork was dry, tough, and way over cooked. The sandwich on a whole was dry and really could have used something to flavor/moisten it up. After quite a while gnawing away at this sandwich like a dog on a rawhide bone, I gave up. I thought I'd either lose a tooth or my lunch. So, that's it for me at Bambuza. Three swings and I'm out. Terrible.. first of all they only serve breakfast at 9am. Secondly, the "breakfast" "bagel" has maybe 1 egg on it, probably half so it's paper thin. Undercooked, floppy bacon. I just paid $12 dollars for a terrible bagel I took one bite of and threw away. Too bad PDX doesn't have showers, I feel like I need one now. read more

Friendly service but meh food. Recently ate their chicken teriyaki bowl with jasmine rice while waiting for a Southwest flight. The chicken has good flavor but the rice and small amount of (very) chopped lettuce in the bowl was so dry and plain. The sauce they provided was pretty watery. My favorite thing is the fact that they serve Breakside beer! read more

Not bad for airport food! I didn't get a stomach ache from eating here, so that's a plus lol (as opposed to LAX court food.....some were questionable and stomach wrenching). Banh mi was a foot long, toasted. Tasty pork and lotsa cilantro YES. Could've used more mayo in it, but overall, I'd get this again. It is $12 /sandwich though. Will say I didn't like that they put your sandwich (when making it) next to the rag on the serving counter read more

Airports, and the food choices offered, can cause me so much stress. You don't need to feel lousy, with lousy, unhealthy food, while traveling. Imagine my excitement when we saw this Vietnam kitchen style restaurant/fast food in the Portland terminal. We had the Lemongrass Chili Chicken - we were full for the day, but felt good about eating some delicious vegetables with very tasty protein. I'd be a happy traveler if I knew I could find more food like this in airports. read more

Its rare to have pho and banh mi available in airports, but PDX seems to be blazing trails in airport cuisine. We came here for brunch before boarding our plane home. The restaurant was interesting in that they stocked 33 (Vietnamese Beer) and had many cans of Cafe Du Monde chicory coffee, presumably to make Vietnamese Iced Coffee. They offered rice noodle bowls, banh mi, pho, stirred-fried noodles, and lighter eats like pork buns. I ordered a beef pho for the wife and the broth actually was pretty good with strong lemongrass flavor and not too salty. Beef was cooked all the way but still juicy. Plenty of noodles that were chewy, which we liked. Would normally rate 4 stars but we did find a single long strand of hair in the bowl so 3 stars. The grilled pork banh mi was decent - nearly a footlong toasty bread like a Subway and the pre-grilled pork still had a good amount of flavor. Some more jalapeño would have been nice, but otherwise a good effort given that it was under $6 I think. 3.5 stars. read more

Pho at the airport? You're crazy! Bambuza does a great job at it. As you may know, Portland has tons of great food and even the airport of all places has food that I would actually eat. Name another airport where you can get a bowl of piping hot beef pho and freshly wrapped spring rolls? I betcha can't. You might be wondering who in the right mind would have pho at an airport of all places. I'm just crazy enough to do it, for science! If you're looking for a bowl of pho that will knock your socks off, you're not going to get it here. If you want to satisfy your hunger and slurp down some noodles, you're definitely having your wish fulfilled today. The noodles are great, the beef is thinly sliced, and all of the condiments are available at your disposal. The spring rolls were also fresh and the lettuce was crisp. They even have a pager to notify you when your order is ready. So grab yourself a seat in the food court, fill yourself up with some delicious soup, and head into your plane with a full stomach. It's always a plus to point out that this place takes credit cards (AMEX too). read more

Bambuza is the Vietnamese place in PDX. It's ok. There are better and worse food options at the Portland airport. I chose Bambuza because there was no line and my wife was in the mood for some comfort food before our flight. We split a Pork Banh Mi Sandwich on a French-style Baguette stuffed with Cucumber, Carrots, Cilantro, Soy Sauce, and extra Jalapeño Slices. The bread was dry and the meat tough, but I liked the spicy peppers. Luckily, we were sharing and could get something else to finish our meal. Besides the sandwiches, Bambuza has Spring Rolls, Pho Noodle Soups, Rice Bowls, and other Vietnamese-inspired favorites making it the choice at PDX for Vietnamese food. read more

On our most recent visit through PDX we had dinner at Bambuza and I must say I was again impressed by the quality of food, which I would argue could go head to head with any other Vietnamese restaurant. The pork bahn mi was incredible. The slices of meat were smaller than I've traditionally seen, but other than that, it was classic down to the fresh jalapeños, and crusty French bread. The pork bun was served hot with a thin flaky crust and sweet meat center. The spring rolls were prepackaged for speed and convenience, yet tasted delicious. read more

I preferred the Teriyaki Combo. Which comes with teriyaki chicken that is already dry like it's has been just reheated from the day before and serve again. Noodles is already bad. I know what is taste freshly cooked and spoiled. I asked them to remove it. They replace my order with the same contents and i asked them not to add noodles anymore. Got my food but fried rice is swimming in grease as shown in the picture i posted. I returned the food to them and left. I don't understand how food gets this bad if there's manager checking them. Tuesday May 3, 2022. I ordered the honey glazed chicken with rice. I have been to Vietnam more than 10 separate occasions. The restaurant was trying to imitate the food but it wasn't the same. Located in Terminal C of the Portland airport. Food was overpriced and very average. The shrimp bowl was just 8 pieces of shrimp on a bed of cold lettuce, sliced carrots, and sliced cucumber with rice on the side. They also gave sriracha packets and a vinegar based dressing. For airport food it's a solid choice. The prices are fair and the quantity is fair. The only thing that didn't look very appetizing was their fried noodles but everything else looked awesome. I've been going to this place for years. They must have changed management recently. In all my years, I have never been treated with such abrupt rudeness. The young man at the counter obviously hated his job. He took my order angrily and he did not ask if I wanted the meal to go or not. I paid $22 for the food and waited for ten minutes. When they called my number, I saw it was on a tray. I politely asked if I could have that to go. Yes said, "You certainly can," with anger and sarcasm in his voice. I was hungry, so I let that slide. They still didn't have my food salad rolls ready when one of the cooks called my number again showing me the tray. I said that I wanted that to go and the young man at the counter yelled, he never said he wanted it to go. Stopped here while at PDX, I got the Bahan Mi. It was quite large and decently tasty. However, the "soba" noodles were criminally bland, extremely expensive (14$) for just veggies (protein was an extra 4$), and the noodles were chow mein not soba (buckwheat noodles). The Thai tea was extremely watery and not made with condensed milk. Employees seemed unconcerned about the quality of their food. Would get a sandwich again, but nothing else. Had an early flight out of PDX and was looking for something other than a breakfast sandwich. Bambuza's breakfast bowl hit the spot. Scrambled eggs sitting atop perfectly sticky white rice with beef and Chinese sausage, accompanied by the classic lettuce, cucumber, carrot and cilantro sides was the biggest sub-ten dollar airport breakfast that I've had in a long while. Tried this place in PDX as there were so many options but I always do crave Asian cuisine almost all the time. Nothing too crazy here, banh mi, Asian grilled meats over vermicelli or rice, pho. I got the pork over vermicelli and for an extra $1, a spring roll. For the price, you get a pretty hefty box of noodles and grilled meat with a sauce you can pour on. The dish itself was pretty good but a little on the bland size. It did fill me up. The pork was on the dry side but seasoned pretty well. My favorite part was the light and slightly greasy spring roll, you definitely need the crunch. Not the best but definitely a worthy option if you're in the mood for decent Vietnamese food in the airport. read more
