It's big, open, and breathing easy none of that cramped airport chaos. You've got these wide windows letting the light pour in, planes rolling by in the distance, and for a moment you forget you're in a terminal. It's the kind of spot where you can actually sit back, take a breath, and enjoy where you're at. PDX has been stepping up its game, and this place is proof. I had a little time to kill waiting on my ride, so breakfast it was. Nothing fancy on paper just a simple plate but don't let that fool you. There was nothing "simple" about it once it hit the table. Everything was dialed in, from the flavor to the presentation. It's one of those meals where you take a bite and think, "Alright... somebody here cares." And the staff? Top notch. I've always loved the downtown Oven & Shaker, especially for their fantastic cocktails, so I was honestly surprised and pretty excited to discover they now have a location at the airport. It's located right behind TSA and has an amazing view of the runway, which actually makes it a really nice place to sit for a bit and relax before a flight. Lesa, the bartender, was wonderful. Super engaging, very sincere and warm, and she makes a fantastic whiskey sour. You can tell she genuinely enjoys taking care of people. The pizza was outstanding. Extremely fresh ingredients and perfectly baked. Exactly what you hope for from Oven & Shaker. There's still a little construction noise around the terminal right now, but honestly it didn't take away from the experience. Keep walking to another spot in the airport! Service was nill, the caprese chicken was rubbery, and the drinks tasted terrible. We sat at one of the tables on the side, which has a qr code for ordering and no service until our drinks came up even though a waitress said she'd be right over. They hadn't even wiped it down. So there I was, a hungry man adrift in the damp gray purgatory of a Monday evening, dragging my bones through Portland International Airport in search of something warm and edible. With our spirits half-sunk and bellies fully empty, we stumbled into Oven and Shaker, which was shining like a cozy little lighthouse on the rocky shores of the concourse. One waitress was running the entire place. One. From two in the afternoon until nine at night and still smiling like someone who had just discovered electricity. She was sharp, funny, and entirely unbothered by the absurdity of her situation. If you've ever tried to get service in an airport past dinnertime, you'll understand how rare and precious that is. We ordered via a QR code, like astronauts in a fast-casual dystopia, and our food arrived faster than expected. I had a grilled chicken caprese sandwich. It was not a life-changing experience but it was warm and well-balanced and tasted like someone had cooked it with intention. One friend ordered a salad and a mocktail. She is not easily impressed but declared both "actually really good," which in her native tongue means she'd eat them again. The third in our party went with the Pearl Pizza. A white pizza, no red sauce, all risk. In Portland of all places, where despite their well-earned reputation as a foodie's playground, pizza is often a tragic misunderstanding. She liked it. She really liked it. That alone earns a standing ovation from our Jersey-bred taste buds. They have a convent spot to the side of the hostess with a screen to place to go orders. We placed an order for two of their pizzas and they were ready in about 10-15 minutes later. The ingredients were fresh and a decent ratio to the size of the pizza with high quality ingredients and flavor. Even an hour or so later, once cold, the pizza was great. (3.5 stars) I usually go to the Oven and Shaker location in Lake Oswego that it was a nice surprise to see it at PDX. The Pearl is one of my all time favorite pizzas. Unfortunately, this airport version wasn't quite the same. The Pearl Pizza (3.5 stars) had the delicious lemon and garlic flavors that complemented fontina, mozzarella, and ricotta cheeses. However, I missed the more generous portion of the fried sage. This one resembled small green confetti. I still enjoyed the flavors, but the crust was more chewy and not as memorable. I loved the Island Heatwave (4 stars) cocktail. It had tequila, passion fruit, jalapeño, lime juice, and a hibiscus lime salt rim. One drink was enough as I waited for my flight. The service was 4 stars, and I didn't wait too long after I ordered. My server was very nice and attentive. I have low expectations for airport food, and perhaps a little higher at PDX. My recent Lunch at Oven and Shaker (Concourse C next to Security) was one of my few disappointments. In particular: 1. The Chicken Caprese sandwich tasted a bit off and revealed an aftertaste that stuck with me for at least a couple hours. It also took awhile to come out from the kitchen. The guys on either side had Pizza, which looked like a much better and delicious choice. 2. Beer pricing. A 16 ounce pour was $8 (50 cents per ounce) and 20 ounces was $12.50 or 63 cents an ounce. Does that make sense? I chose the latter without looking thinking at more was more economical. On the plus side, the table was roomy, the room was uncrowded, the beer was tasty, and the wait guy was very good. read more

It's a little bit of a wait if you use the kiosk like I did. About 20 minutes. Some people won't like that at all. The margarita pizza costs $17 and I was able to finish it as a tiny Asian person. Some people won't like that either. Interpret that as you will. (Either comment.) This place is about the sauce. I love fresh mozzarella and this one was ok - a little overly salty and rubbery. The crust is good but the sauce is a natural flowing force of tomato and salt. Maybe a bit watery for pizza but great for sopping up with the crust. Basil leaves don't tear up easily with teeth so you only get as many bites of basil as there are leaves. Decent pizza! Just pricey and if you're just looking to fill your belly with something neutral before a flight, Sizzle Pie is lighter on the appetite and the wallet. read more

Full transparency, I am writing this review having ordered my food and now waiting in the to-go waiting area outside the bar/restaurant. I ordered the Nostrana salad with chicken. It's a salad I have had before and enjoyed but almost as soon as I ordered I knew I had made a mistake. First of all, $22 for a salad in a cardboard box is insane. Secondly, when I asked where the food would come out I was told to wait in the waiting area. As I waited the weight of the quiet desperation of airport dining came over me. People paying a premium for food from names they trust and then being disappointed. My name got called after 20 mins, the order was wrong. I didn't have the time or energy to get it changed. I had a glass of iced-tea as well. So...no refill on the iced tea either. I usually would not tip if I two things happen: 1) no attempt to refill my drink and/or 2) I only see the waitperson when they tale my order and hand me a bill. I've had the pleasure of enjoying Oven and Shakers pizza at their Lake Oswego location, but recently their opening sign caught my eye during an early morning at PDX and I just had to stop by to try their breakfast. The goat cheese omelette is just what I needed to start my day and they make their take outs easy with a self serve kiosk. If I had more time I would have sat down to enjoy my food in their new location, because the staff were so helpful and friendly and it looks like a great place to waste some time after security. read more

It's standard airport fare, but for a brand like Oven and Shaker to put out such a half-hearted effort is so disappointing and a complete degradation of their flagship's reputation. The bread is clearly a Costco hoagie on the chicken parm. Nothing but cheese, meat, and sauce. Fries are pale as can be and a $2.50 up charge to boot. Club sandwich is on under-toasted bagged sandwich bread that was immediately soggy. Lest we forget the sandwich has unmelted shredded mozzarella. Insanity. Oh ya, are chips supposed to be chewy? I sat down for two seconds with a coffee and a three hour layover. I had planned on ordering lunch and a beer. But immediately the waiter pounced on me and told me I couldnt sit there unless I was going to order something right now. Guess I'll be having lunch and drinks down at Henry's Tavern down at concourse C. Oven and Shaker just lost my business forever for their rudeness and impatience. We had just over an hour before our flight boarded and hadn't had time to eat anything before getting out of the house. We decided to try the Oven and Shaker. MISTAKE! First, when ordering, we paid for and tipped in advance with the idea that we could just leave after we ate and not worry about running out of time. This turned out to be a bad idea. After waiting for 40 minutes with no food, I snagged our waitress and asked her, "What happens if we have to get on the plane before we get our order that we already paid for?" Our waitress had an attitude and said, "You'll get your food" before walking off. A few minutes later, my husband got his pizza and had about fifteen minutes to eat. He gave me a couple of bites and offered to share. It wasn't wonderful, but it tasted good. I didn't want to eat his pizza, though, when I had a burger on the way - that was his lunch. When I finally got my burger, I had 5 minutes to wolf it down before we had to make a dash for the plane's boarding area. The burger was black, dry, CRUNCHY, and had absolutely no seasoning on it. The icing on the cake was that it was COLD! It was the worst burger I have ever eaten in my life and I'm old. The only reason I ate it was because I was starving and we had already paid for it. If you decide to go for the pizza, be aware that you may not have time to eat your food before boarding, even if you have plenty of time to spare. Also, my advice would be not to pay in advance. Obviously, I don't recommend the burgers. As for us, we will never eat there again! read more

We ordered the American Breakfast to share. In most restaurants that would be plenty of food for us. We were disappointed in the small portions, the quality of the food, and lack of value for the price. The plate would have been austere for a single diner. Maybe we should be appreciative that they didn't bring large portions of disappointing food. The menu listed eggs, bacon, truffle hash browns, and white or wheat toast. The plate appeared to have 1 scrambled egg, 2 bacon slices, 1 slice of barely toasted very pale "wheat" bread, and 6-8 overcooked mini potato wedges (i.e. they were not hash browns and there was no truffle flavor). The bacon was the best thing on the plate. Their real (off airport) restaurants are primarily wood-fired pizza and cocktails places, which I don't think are open for breakfast, so maybe they just need to gain experience in the breakfast realm. I hope they read these reviews and make the effort to improve. I should say that the French toast on the next table looked pretty good. read more
