I LOVE chè, so if I am ever craving it, I know just the place to go, Bambu! These Vietnamese dessert drinks are so refreshing, especially in the summer, or just on a nice warm day. We ordered the Bambu Favorite and Halo Halo. It's been a few years since the last time I have been to a Bambu, so I am not too sure if Halo Halo has always been on the menu since that isn't a Vietnamese dessert, it's Filipino. Regardless, these two dessert drinks were YUMMY! Personally, I prefer my chè to have a variety of ingredients in them, so the Bambu Favorite wasn't outstanding to me, but I still enjoyed it. Great for Filipino dessert drinks, and the occasional food item. + Bambu combo - delicious and layered with all sorts of textural experiences. The coconut milk is balanced with a generous layer of chewy, smushy, and tapioca goodness. My favorite is probably the taro as part of this combo. A good way to sample the many toppings you can get in your che. + Rose milk tea - above average, but I would probably go to a boba shop for boba milk tea. Good if you have someone in your order who prefers boba, rather than che. + Halo halo (mini) - contrary to the "mini" description, this seemed full size to me. The ube ice cream on top was unexpectedly creamy, flavorful and delicious for being a chain. Probably my favorite out of the dessert drinks I ordered. + Mochi cupcake (taro) - this was absolutely delicious! The taro paste inside was perfectly sweetened, and perfectly balanced by the chewy, slightly buttery mochi exterior. Sigh- this quarantine is crazy. I finally went out to the asian stores after a week of quarantine and really wanted to treat myself to some Bambu bubble tea. I called in my order and I got my usual, honey milk tea. I have to say I tasted my mom's Viet coffee and it was bomb. I bought 2 honey milk teas, one for today and one for tmrw. (I live 30 min away) One with boba and one without. I tried my one with boba, and I had to check their menu on Yelp to see if they had sweet levels. They don't. So I'm just so disappointed in sweetness level, it taste like there is zero sweet on it. The strawberry smoothie was for my 7 year old. He loves it. I just hope that when I go to try my honey milk tea with no toppings tomrw. It will be perfect bc with all the crazy shut downs. I need some sweetness in my life. Bambu makes me a happy gal. Whenever I am craving Vietnamese desserts, also known as che, I will almost always go to Bambu. I always get their three colored dessert (che ba mau), which is their take on the traditional three colored Vietnamese dessert. If I am eating this dessert on an empty stomach, it will fill me up. I can't even finish the whole cup by myself. Taro is not usually found in three colored dessert and neither is jelly. However, I found that these additions elevated the already delicious dessert. The jelly itself is soft and chewy, not hard and overly chewy to the point your jaws will be tired. I have also tried their durian smoothie. I was pleasantly surprised that they used fresh durian. It's considered an exotic fruit so I was expecting a powder. I have really picky about smoothies, so because it was a fresh smoothie, I decided to give it a try. Boy was I not disappointed. It was very creamy, not overly sweet, and have a nice durian flavor. Lastly, I have tried their Thai tea. I personally found this drink to be watered down and the boba was on the hard side. It was not my favorite. I have found that this location isn't very busy, but others have told me otherwise. There aren't that many seating areas. I do like that they have games for you to play while you eat as well as them displaying art by local artists. It makes the place homey and welcoming. They also have large windows to let in natural lighting. I would like to study here sometime. Their service is pretty good. The workers smile and are inviting. They're also very knowledgeable about each menu item so I trust their recommendations. I've never really talked to the manager, but she seems extremely nice and kind. It's reassuring when the manager of any establishment/business is kind. I've been here so often and I've NEVER had a bad experience. Lastly, they have a 10% friends and family discount so if you know someone, make sure you get that discount! After tax it was $7+ You pick your sweetness level which is a plus for sensitive people. When I was a teenager and first started drinking boba, there were no variations of sweetness and I prefer that way as well but I'm not against this way either. I decided on 75%. I ordered taro, which if you look at other bubble tea reviews that I have done, taro is the go to for me to rate the establishment and if I'll go back. This place...I did not like the bubble tea. In terms of consistency it was blended quite well. No chunks or lumps, consistency was great! BUT THE FLAVOR!!!.....so so so bland. It taste like milk with sugar and a teaspoon of taro. The beans were great and I love pandan jelly. The coconut milk was slightly sweet, but it paired well. I love the combo, would highly recommend! It's a completely different experience when it was I think the franchise owner who helped us almost every single time we go. But this time, the rude lady made us go outside to accommodate other people To come in (we complied because of COVID).
